I'm finding the game to be significantly harder than Origins.
In Origins, you had untouchable high dexterity tanks or Arcane Warrior tanks, devestating archers with high speed and critical hit rates, and nifty lifesavers like Force Field or Paralyze.
In DA2, I'm just not feeling any power even as the end of the game approaches.
Right now, I have Mage with the the Elemental tree completed, with Heal, Crushing Prison, and Horror fully upgraded.
Early on, I had Anders as a dedicated Healer, but it now seems easier just to have him or Merril just damage dealing rather than worrying about others, but it gets itricky if my tank is taking a pounding and needs frequent healing.
I usually use Isabella if I don't expect a boss with close-range AoE attacks, or Varric if I think I need mostly range fighters.
And for a tank, tried Fenris for a while in the mid game, but switched to Aveline because of her extra armor and the fact that I her Cunning score was sorta high.
Any builds that make the game a walk in the park?

Spirit Healer/Force Mage. Ditch your attack spells and get some good buffs and the entire Creation tree, turn on Healing Aura, Rock Armor, Arcane Shield, and Heroic Aura. Use Haste whenever you can. Elemental Weapons is also nice. Your party will go from tough companions to untouchable engines of murder while you will be completely indestructible with inexhaustible health.
My Spirit Healer Hawke tanked the Arishok duel and didn't even have to kite.

Just finished another NM playthrough and fancied a change, I usually go nuker Mage but this time went force/spirit healer. Had Anders, Aveline and Varric in my party most of the game. Went 2 Mag each level, with alternate Will & Con.
Not the most exciting play style but made NM a joke. Hawke & Anders both had healing aura on at all times. Concentrate on double-haste and switching staffs for elemental weaknesses. Aveline tanking like a champ and able to out-regen most damage. Varric concentrates on Brand, speed and Pinning Shot to lock down assassins.
Send aveline in to the group and move the other 3 around as Artillery support. Almost never lost a party member apart from in the beginning.
Again not the most fun, but one of my easiest playthroughs.
