1. Garrus - Most consistent, great chemistry, friends and lovers, most content.
2. Samantha - Best pillow talk before Cronos. The shower scene was a bit strange; however, she and FemShep had developed a really strong relationship by the end.
3. Kaidan - Too much drama for my tastes but his ME1 and post-coup romance content was quite nice.
MaleShep:
1. Miranda - She's Shepard's equal. With the Citadel DLC, hers tops the rest.
2. Tali - It's cute (minus the singing)
3. Jack - Best Citadel DLC date.

It really is quite good, and in my opinion it's good enough that it could have been offered as a DLC.

For me, nothing beats mShenko. I'm surprised at how many mShenko fans there are in this thread.
I love Shenko whether be it male or female.
And yeah. These forums have really made me happy since I've gotten to meet more and more gamers of a similar mind.

Never played as a female Shepard but from what I've seen, the Garrus arc seemed to be the most fluid and natural.

Traynor romance is a lot of fun, though it suffers in comparison from being limited to ME3 and not being a squadmate, so it can all feel a bit abrupt.
I remember I liked the Ashley romance in ME1 more than I expected because I wasn't actually so keen on Ash beforehand. But I haven't brought it through the rest and I can't remember it very well now.
The only one I've tried that I didn't like was Tali, and that's a shame because I really like Tali. But the ME2 romance annoyed me a lot with the whole thing about needing to have potentially lethal sex, and in ME3 it bugged me because it seemed like Tali was much more in love than Shepard.

My favourite is Liara, but I think Garrus is "better". Liara's romance has a bunch of flaws - too much dialogue that doesn't really acknowledge the relationship, too often when you have to say "yes I'm still interested in you" - but at it's best really feels like there's a lot of deep affection there. While the Garrusmance is fun and cute and sexy and doesn't feel like it's been forgotten in half the dialogues like Liara does.

I know what you mean about the Ashley romance in ME1. It was really good in ME1, I remember there being quite a bit of dialogue between Shep and her in ME1, but Bioware really kind of dropped the ball in ME3. I would have expected more considering what they had been through together.

The thing about the Liara romance is that it was consistent throughout all 3 games. That's what makes it good too.
Ashley's suffered from not being in ME2 and having a different writer in ME3. At first Ash came off as stubborn to me, but I sort of saw Shep as being the same way so they could relate, which made for a good pairing. Makes me wish I would have picked Liara in my ME1 save now that I know how Bioware messed it up.

Right, but it's one thing to have it messed up because of lack of content, it's a whole other thing to have it have the content and still be a little messed up.

Wondering what Miranda romance will bring when I finish it. I really like that one. Nice Pygmalion backstory.

People are going to read this thread as "my favourite love interest", when clearly what we should be doing is analyzing them objectively and deciding which has the best arc. In that respect, it's obviously Liara. The writers at Bioware obviously wanted Shepard's LI to be some blue alien chick - what's the point of romance in sci-fi if you just end up with a "boring" human? She's in all three games, LOTSB, form a romantic perspective, was brilliant, and she's arguably one of the best characters no matter how much anyone bashes her for "being in it too much". The only flaw is her personality shift from ME to ME2, which isn't a big deal.
I suppose you're right, but it's the job of the writers at Bioware to not make the human romance option "boring" if they are going to offer it as an option at all.
After all ME is supposed to be about choices and options, so no wonder humans are an option for romances.
