The quarians have to be the least significant power in the entire game, that 17 million number is roughly the population of New York. They're also unapologetic jerks who quite clearly brought all their problems onto themselves. So the only real reason you would ever save them over the geth is Tali and her jiggly bumbum. The question is, is she worth it?

But that's completely trivial, as there never is a scenario where you have the max total of both in 1 playthrough. One side will always be stronger than the other in every playthrough, and it will always depend on your choice with the heretic geth in ME2.

Liara's romance, only because her romance is the one that's given the most emphasis for some reason. She has the majority of intimate scenes with Shep, far more than any other character. Some can say that the other LI's were shafted in favour of Liara.

Tali for the simple reason it actually feels like a romance. It's all about her as a character rather than how she looks and that both her and Shep find a way to make it work despite the whole immune system thing. I'd then say Garrus' is well done and then Liara's. Didn't care much for the whole shrink story with Jack and Miranda's felt like a one night stand and that she seemed forced onto you with the not so subtle camera shots. Can't stand Ash as a character so wouldn't go near her and never seen Kaidans so don't know about that one.
It's down to opinion though, there is no such thing as a "best" LI.

Just an opinion. I never did her romance in 3 but it seemed like that in 2 to me. Perhaps I did it wrong

This, I never understood the insistance that Liara was favored above all (in fact with the Citadel DLC Id imagine many romances are just as good as Liara's) she may have more scenes than others but, in my Shep that romanced garrus for example, Liara seemed no more than a good friend in any scene she was in. I didn't feel a romance was being forced on my character, I didn't find her snobbish or pushy, she was simply a good friend.
I know such a shock cause it's not like Liara is one of the main reasons shepard is alive or anything...<_<

All this canon talk reminds me of a popular piece of Mass Effect 2 art that featured the squad and Tali was posed next to Shepard embracing him. Tali or any of the main LI are just a canon as Liara.
