Looked all over but couldnt find the answer. First time poster.
So i made a dummy toon to just run around to unlock specilizations for other playthroughs. So i unlocked all the ones i wanted and quit playing that toon before finishing the game. Well when i started another playthrough i was quite surprised when i got to level 7 and couldnt choose a specizilation. Also when i checked back to the dummy toon it also said that none of the specizilations were unlocked. What is happening why cant i get the specizilations unlocked.
Specilizations WTF

Did you recently apply the patch to the game? After I applied it, I couldn't chose specializations either (even though I unlocked a few of them AFTER I applied the patch).

Yes i did apply the patch i believe i just hit update when it tells me. Is there a way to fix this or do i have to delete every save and start over? Also i tryed going to an older save to see if the berserker book was avalible to buy and it wasnt yet the class is still locked.

I also have lost all of my specializations. I had them last night. My rouge has the bardic specialization right now but as of 5 minutes ago none of the specializations were unlocked. This is my 3rd play-through and I had unlocked all of them prior to creating this character last night.
I noticed this problem when I was leveling Morrigan & all of the Mage specializations were locked up and suddenly the classes were available for purchase in the stores again.
I did notice that when I loaded the game I received an error telling me that the game could not connect to the DA:O servers & that my login info may be wrong but I didn't see any way to test or correct this feature. (The info reflected in my profile regarding my game is outdated & incomplete for what ever reason).

Bioware representatives have not even botherred to post a sticky in this sub-forum to advise you that the patch will break your game and lock up your specializations. I haven't played the game since the 12th because I was afraid that something like this happened. If you search a little below you will find a thread that explains what is happening, what the patch breaks and what you can do to work around it.

yup the patch tot he xbox system broke the specializations.
Bioware says they are aware and are working on a fix, and until then if u havnt updated DA:O you should keep it that way

From what I'd heard, the specializations bug was a problem with the new achievements not propagating properly on XBox live (because apparently the specializations are linked to the achievements system, which is how you're able to carry them over from one save to another). I think it might have been fixed already, because I applied the patch this afternoon and none of my specializations have locked (I've saved, loaded, shut down, reloaded, re-saved, and reloaded since then, and everything still works fine).

Well I went and tried to unlock some and it wont update them either. I had everyone unlocked and though most didn't take that long, some like the assassin and berserker did. I'm pretty pissed. This pissed me off to no end. I put a lot of time into this so I could go back and play the other character classes, now I'm screwed. I'm going to probably end up taking the game back to the store and getting and exchange for something else. I'm guessing from what I've read it's due to a glitch in X-box Live, I for one could care less about the achievements and X-box Live, so doubly pissed now.

To reiterate if I loaded an old save game none of the unlocks were available even after going and unlocking them again... said panda.
