Anyone having trouble replaying the trilogy now that you know it's officially over?

Since finishing the Citadel DLC I've found myself unable to go and finish off the other two playthroughs I have of ME3 because I just know I'll get all bummed out that it's officially over for the trilogy. It's like, if I finish those playthroughs the story is totally over and I just can't bring myself to start from ME1 again knowing that there will be an end to it. When there was still more DLC to come I felt like I could justify starting a new playthrough as there was still more to see, but now, there isn't. It's lame to get bummed out over a video game trilogy ending, I know, but yeah, anyone else feel the same way?

(N.B. - this is NOT a thread to say I'm not looking forward to the next ME game, because I am, massively, it's just with respect to this trilogy)

I actually wish I had any trouble.
But everytime I walk up to chat with Joker and Kaidan en route to Eden Prime, I'm in for another month of not playing anything else.

Up there with Thief and Fallout, this is the most addictive and best game franchise I've been infected with so far.

Haha, yeah, I always get a bit sentimental there and kinda decide the journey's always worth another go.

No, no problem whatsoever. More the opposite.

Yeah... I got a box full of other games I've been meaning to play, but I just keep coming back for another Mass Effect run.

Nah, love it more I guess thanks to Citadel. The problem is so many other games I haven't got to play, like Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Arkham City, Silent Hill Downpour, Amalur, Red Dead Redemption.

So many games, only time for ME.

Nope. Like every other game, this one is over, but I will still play it.

Like said before, I may be wishing I had trouble. I'm completely obsessed with Mass Effect. And I've only done comolete-Renegade and complete-Paragon, so I still need to do incompetent-shepard, neutral, etc playthroughs

Same here. I still haven't finished the new Tomb Raider or the first BioShock. I do like them, but ME is my big love. Can't get enough - even though it's finished now.

Jealous.

I for one will never play Overlord unfortunately. I can't jump back into ME2 at this point, ME3 is just mechanically/physically way better, combat etc.

Also I need to buy Omega and Citadel, which will come out to 2 MS point cards, I'd have to get a 3rd just for Overlord, and that's the difference between spending $40 and $60 on MS cards. Nah.

When I first beat the trilogy, I told myself I was done. But as I expected, I can't just not ever play it again, and so I'm restarting the trilogy lol

@OP - I've was having trouble for a long time after finishing #3 for the first time after it so thoroughly ignored your choices in the first two games.

Recently tho' I've replayed #1 & #2 and enjoyed them, primarily, I think, because I imagined the story ended with #2 and I didn't bother with #3.

@OP - I finished ME3 for the first time a couple weeks ago after getting ME3 on sale from Origin. Have to admit, after finishing it with the EC I really was depressed for a while knowing it's all over. It's because of all the memories.

I told myself I wouldn't play through again, but here I am on my 3rd playthrough but with all the DLC now. Also using the MEHEM endings and the cinema mod. I still get a bit sad at the endings, but it's not as bad as the first time.

Maybe because I realize that anytime I want to see these characters again I just load up the game.

I don't think it's lame to get bummed out over a video game trilogy. The journey was freaking awesome, and the characters were very well developed, they felt like family.

The fact that you're bummed out over a video game trilogy just means that it was a good trilogy.

I've had trouble finishing playthroughs since Citadel, but not starting new ones.

Everything is just so perfect at the end of Citadel, and I don't want that happiness to end. The Kaidan romance especially makes it difficult for me to embark on that last mission (they only had that one night to be a normal couple!).

The fact that the EC ending, especially the Normandy scene, turns me into a quivering baby certainly doesn't do much to help the issue.

Same for me.  I finish and get sentimental, and want to see all the characters all over again.

Although now with the new Citadel DLC, I just reload a save before that to see all the characters again at the party if I don't want to deal with the rest of the game.

I know how you feel.  The EC ending makes me pretty sad, so does the Citadel ending.  I wish that party went on forever.

Now that I know how the game ends I figure I'll just play the Citadel DLC before Cronos and use that as my ending.

That, and there's some good fan fiction out there for endings.

Oh, I've definitely read some MShenko fanfic haha.

With my last game, I did exactly what you suggested. Really, I just need to learn to get out of my head while playing. I always end up thinking about Shepard's life, all he lost, and how little time for happiness he had. And then I think about the rest of the crew and start reaching for the bottle of wine.

I just started another playthrough, and I'm going to try to force myself to endure the emotional drain all the way through to the end. I'll just make sure I don't have anything pressing to do for at least 24 hours after.

I felt the same way, OP. At least at first. For me, something about Citadel itself seemed to make it even worse. I love Citadel, but since it was so fun and optimistic with its "hooray and on to the next adventure" conclusion, it really emphasized the sense of "the void" for me. There isn't going to be a next adventure for Shepard&Gang, after all. And that does make me sad even if I understand that it's right.  I always get the same feeling when I finish a really good book.

But the thing is that everything I (we) love about the trilogy is still there. The best cure for being too bummed to play again is simply to play again, from the beginning, to be reminded of all the things that made the adventure great.

The ending I admit isn't the best, and with EC, it got...bebearable but I see myself making new playthroughs constantly

I love this series, and just because some bratty star kid ruined the ending, I'm not letting it gather dust

These are all very good points, guys. I think I am going to finish these playthroughs and then start a new one. Yeah, it's a shame that there's never going to be another adventure with Shepard and the gang, but you're all right: the adventures that are there are just too good to never experience again.
