Who would it be and why?

I would have to say Sigrun. She is absolutely my favourite character in any of the DA's and we didn't get to see enough of her in Awakening. None of the characters from the prior games absolutely needs to return and with happened to Anders and Oghren, none of them really need to be a companion again. But it would be nice to have a chance to chat with one or two.

Loghain. He's in Orlais, wouldn't be much of a stretch to have him seen at one point.

Isabela. The most fascinating woman i've ever encountered in a game.

I'm torn. Initial reaction is to say Isabela. But, I think I'd really like to see Aveline. And with that thought comes the desire to see the little du Lac mystery from MotA to be resolved somewhat (or touched upon again).

Not a cameo but a full fledged character would be Morrigan

For a minor role i'd say Alistar if not a full fledged character

Shepard. Or Garrus.
Considering we already had a Darkspawn Cameo in Kasumi's DLC in ME2, the possibility's there :D (There's an ogre statue with the DA:O design in the room where all the treasures are kept. If you click on it, Kasumi mentions that she wouldn't want to run into the thing at night. Or at all.)

I want Isabela. One of the most interesting and complex characters in DA.
And I whisper silently Flemeth, because it's Captain Janeway. ^^

I second this motion. Is it just me or did it seem like everyone and their mother made a cameo in Kirkwall? They should start calling it 'Little Ferelden'. There's adding cameos and then there's rounding up everyone in Ferelden and shipping them to Kirkwall. It feels at times that I never really left Ferelden, and that there wasn't this stonking big sea in between there and Kirkwall.

Varric, on account that he's guaranteed to be alive.

Why on earth would you think of Flemeth as the worst captain from on of the worst Trek series:sick:. One of Varric's books would be cameo enough for me.

Isabela, as long as her face model looks good and she has an interesting reason for showing up. I'm pretty resigned to the fact that none of the DA2 love interests will end up with Hawke in the long run, so as long as she's relatively healthy and happy, it would be nice to see her again.

Although, may I add, it's really not necessary to make her bangable by the new player character in the few minutes she's onscreen.

They could make it the same thing they did with Zevran (after having fixed the bug), by making him bangable if he wasn't romanced in DAO. T

Yeah, that. Loghain is alive in a small percentage of DA:O's walkthroughs, but I really hope they manage to slip in a cameo if you let  him live.

There was a bug (that has never been patched) that makes it so Zevran never acknowledges that he was in a relationship with the Warden.  So he always will proposition Hawke or go off with Isabela, if given a chance.

I would prefer something like this not happen with Isabela, since it made me not want to encounter Zevran in games where my imports listed him as the love interest.  I also just don't think it's necessary for Isabela, to shoehorn in another scene like Zevran's in DA2.  And personally, I prefer the card game to going back to the ship in DA:O with Isabela.  So, for me at least, it's not necessary to make her a "conquest" of the PC in DA3.
