Dunno. I do know that in all those classical pieces of art that feature visions of Heaven and Hell, Hell always had way more win in terms of fun. Looked more like everyone was at a concert or rave than eternal damnation, and all the people in Hell were always naked.
I like the way you think. Approves +10

Now I know why that scene in Matrix (2? 3? w/e) was so disturbing.

From "Paradise Lost"
But keep in mind that, back then this was what was supposed to be scary.

The codex says demons can possibly get in. Maybe find a PRIDE demon, as I haven't fought any.. and I'd like to battle some ENVY and GREED demons.AtreiyaN7 wrote...
I'd like to see it, but I don't think there's a way in. It took a number of Tevinter magisters just to break in...and they got booted out pretty quickly (if the story is true). I doubt there's anyone with comparable knowledge floating around. WHOA - Sylar and Claire - I'm traumatized (sorry, just saw a Heroes promo).

Uldred (boss @ mage tower) is a pride demon. It took me 3 replays for it to kick in.

When you go in the Fade to save Connor there are at least 3 of those floating cities, so i guess it isn't the black city. Maybe they are the black suburbs, with demons and their minivans.
Well the codex entry on the Black City says that one of the only concrete landmarks in the Fade is the Black City, and that the only thing that is certain about the Fade is that all points are equidistant to the Black City (apparently).
As for the twisted structure that you get the codex entry from, I believe that is supposed to be one of the buildings in the Black City, to give you a taste as to what they would look like. To me they look like the weird mushroom trees in the Shivering Isles expansion to Oblivion.
I think the entry also says that demons and Fade spirits both avoid the Black City regardless of disposition, though the entry definitely wasn't explicit as to why, nor was it particularly thorough. Of course, from an in game perspective it is very difficult to know everything about the Fade or its inhabitants, so maybe this isn't entirely true.
If you read the entry on the Cardinal Rules of magic, it says that the only time someone ever broke the rule of transporting one's body via magic was the Tevinter magisters' incursion into the Golden City, and that took all the lyrium in the Imperium and the blood of thousands of slaves. So yeah, I don't think it will be easy to get there, especially since it is now corrupted.
Would definitely be interesting to go there however.

Did Tamlen see the Black City in the Tevinter Mirror at the ruins in the Dalish origin? I ask this because he does mention something dark, something big-I think it was a city (played through it last night, can't remember). Is the taint the mages brought to the very same city the taint that poured through the mirror? Hence the way the Taint originated.
At first I thought it might just be a portal to another mirror- somewhere in the Deep Roads, maybe. But it does corrupt living people into Darkspawn abominations re: What happens to Tamlen later.
Now this begs the questions:
1. If this is an entrance to the Fade, is it *the* entrance to the Fade, or one of many? Perhaps it wasn't one group of Tevinter Mages that went to the Dark City, but several groups.
2. I always assumed that the location for the Dalish Camp was somewhere in or near the Kokarri Wilds- was this the origin, or the entry point for the Darkspawn army that advanced on Ostagar and eventually Ferelden?
3. While I think it's been confirmed ingame that the Taint is not inherently demonic, is it some sort of demonic disease, at its genesis?
4. If you don't play the Dalish Warden, obviously neither of those hunters survive- but this infection of the Taint is different, purer than what most are exposed to. Apparently Tamlen can speak to the Warden when you see later in game- is this a possible reason for the intelligent darkspawn?

At least that might be what the Chantry would say, and would only work if they're right.

Seconded, the idea that the Maker is the source of all evil just doesn't do any justice whatsoever. I can imagine that the Maker had an enemy, some sort of archspirit who became Lord of the spirits who became the Demons. A Satanic figure, who has commanded the Old Gods (or more likely is their chief) to work against the Maker through the magister lords, weaken him by use of Sin and conquer the world. (The archdemons were, according to infernal lore, commanders of demon hordes). The Maker could not return to save his creations, probably not out of spite, but out of actual weakness, if Sin can taint the golden city and twist mortal men, then perhaps it could weaken him.
At least that might be what the Chantry would say, and would only work if they're right.
Read the codex entry on the Old Gods, it punches a hole right through this theory. However, it was written by an author in-game, so it may not be entirely factual. I rather think that the Maker is intended to be a somewhat apathetic god who built the world but is only mildly interested in it now. Like building a model, once you're done with it all it does is collect dust. That sort of thing. According to in-game lore, the Maker first turned away from the world when the Tevinter, led astray by the Old Gods (who probably weren't actually gods at all) invaded the Golden City. He was brought back by Andraste's faith, but left again after she was betrayed to the Imperium and burned alive. Of course, I'm not going to argue that the Chantry's version is entirely factual, that would just be naive.
The term "archdemon" is a little misleading in this game, since the archdemon is not a demon at all, but an Old God that was corrupted by darkspawn. A better term might be "archdarkspawn" but that doesn't really resonate the same. Demons and darkspawn are completely unrelated if I remember correctly. Technically, since there have been four Blights before the game starts, plus the one in the game, there should be only two more after this one. Since there were seven Old Gods, and five have been accounted for, that is.
