I still hold to my original theory that the black city isn't native to the Fade, and the Taint forced the Maker to flee from the City. Makes his whole turn his back on humanity decision a lot less duchebag-like. If the Old gods can get the Taint, why not him? Perhaps the maker will be the final Archdemon.

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if an already tainted creature entered the city, ala Grey Wardens?

another
thought that just entered my head ... whos to say the maker is even IN
the fade mabye hes dreaming afterall the old gods are said to be
sleeping under the ground mabye hes similar mabye he is an old god that just beat the crap out of the other ones.
as
for the old gods who knows as far as im aware orginally they were just
super old and very cunning dragons and dragons can live for a long time
but are in no way invincible if anything id say the taint made them much more immortal in the sense thier bodies can die but thier souls move from body to body.

I don't think so. Old Gods weren't dragons from the beginnig... They somehow conntacted Tevinter Mages and these mages gave them form in Thedas(they were fade spirits/demons) and made them dragons(according to Chantry, or it was wiki, i can't remember where I'd red it). So soul of any of the old gods is immortal. Like every soul. But being immortal doesn't mean you can't die/be destroyed. Like elves, they were immortal, but when you cut someones head off... And like the bodies of these elfs were immortal, bodies of old Gods are immortal, too. . You know, their bodies doesn't get older and they can't die because of the age. I just curious how the Tevinter managed do create these bodies, I think another thousands of slaves died...

you going to hafta give me a little more to read on that rather that what you think you read im afraid Im nopt saying your wrong im just saying i never read that anywhere

as for IF that is true it comes down to the fact Dragons are ancient intellegent creatures and no codex gives a lifespan for them ... now if u dont kill a highdragon it lives for thousands of years ... whos to say that it wont become an "old God"
this is my thought process its in to way valid but before i say your right i need somthing to reference my attention too :) but i do agree gods are defined by who worships them so that thought is very solid for me as it is for you :) but bringing up the elves
In Ancient egypt the pharoh was worshiped as a god but he was just a man ... just because you have more power and people see you as a god doesnt mean you are
the old gods could mereley be a god with more intellegence and pure power  than those that worship them Humans are ficle and believe on the whole what they are told.
so are the old gods actually GODS or just dragons the game is DRAGON age afterall

BUt how would tainted creatures far in the Black City? I mean, if the taint of the darkspawn originated from the Dark City, then we can assume that maybe tainted creatures like Wardens might yet be able to enter those once golden halls......

What would happen? It could cause the Taint to get worse and spread faster. Or cause it to evolve in a way never before seen. I'm still thinking of what the black city actually is if I go with the whole not native to the Fade thing.

Well, I have a lot of catching up on this to do in the next play through apparently...

Anyhow, I'll throw out some ideas to further discussion if nothing else in my relative ignorance, as it is interesting to say the least.

First off, if we ever get there and there's not a Shoggoth or seven, I'll be disappointed.

More importantly however is the questions that arise on the relation between the Old Gods, the Maker, the Fade and the Taint. And that's just for starters! Anyway, for wild speculation of interest I'll put down that when you're killing the Old Gods to free them from the Taint, that Taint goes somewhere (thus the flash of light, etc). I'd posit that it returns to its origin in the Black City giving it more power to take over/corrupt the Fade itself. Or another possibility is that perhaps it goes to strengthen the Taint in the Maker that some have assumed exists. Perhaps the Old Gods became Tainted to halt its progression inside the Maker himself, whose last strength was used to call upon Andraste. I suppose this would suggest a malicious influence behind the Tevinter's push into the Golden City beyond the usual as well, but either way we'd be getting some damned awesome boss fights and story along the way of such a path. :P

Lots of possibilities in this line of thinking that we'll likely never get word of, but it does make for interesting postulation!

http://dragonage.wik...m/wiki/Old_Gods here it is.
It is not the same thing as in Ancient Egypt. Because Mages worshiped fade spirits, not mortal man. It looks like they magically created thier bodies.
