Any "must have mods"?

FWIW, I like how EA/bioware recognizes cheating. They have the vision to see that cheating is actually a community of modders waiting to come to life. It is cool to see companies move into building relationships with customers instead of strictly EULA's.

*The "Dragon Age Redesigned" mod basically redraws many of the characters in DA:O in ways that look better and/or look more appropriate for the story. You can replace characters on a case-by-case basis. I absolutely love this mod. The author's versions of Sten, Zevran, Wynne, Arl Howe, and a host of other characters great and small in DA:O is absolutely spot on, imo. In only a few cases have I opted to keep the original versions of these characters.
Is this true for EVERY character design? I used Project Beauty for F3 (Dracomies' NPC redesign for that) and loved it. though, I wasn't entirely sure about all the changes to npc here. If it's true that it makes it simple enough to pick and choose who you want and who you don't, without having to spend hours figuring out which file belongs to which character, then I'm pretty sold on the mod

there's this

or

I'm not entirely sure what the exact changes in Better Archery were, but I hope one of those is of some use to you at least.

My 2 cents.
Wow, both of those Sacred Ashes mods are so lightyears ahead of all the rest it's crazy. I rather go formods that make the characters look more realistic. I can't imagine Morrigan being a Barbie doll. Thanks for the links!

I believe it hasnt been mentioned yet, and im surprised its not, but I feel one of the "must have" for the PC version is the retexture mod by FourAces. Its a true retexture mod that is a "one-up" on JB Textures. I suppose for some it might over-tax their systems, but for me it wasnt a problem and it changed the overall look of the game from a so-so to wow! From what I understand, the Dragon Age PC version was released without many of its high-res textures due to a mix-up with console textures...
That's neither here nor there really...I've personally heard many stories about them, all conflicting:lol:
Anyway. Seconded on this point. 4aces has, and is doing a great job with the texturing thus far (especially check out his new textures for doors and wagons!). I just hope he keeps it up. If his work on fallout is anything to go by, DA could actually look pretty amazing by next year

Yes, you can choose your design for each and every character in the game. There's about 139 redesigns in there. Many characters have a "Lore Version", a "Alternate" version, to choose from.
As an example, Sten has 5 versions to choose from.
Morrigan has 15 versions to choose from, etc. Although Version 15 is included as a separate file.
Unlike what I did for Fallout 3 Project Beauty HD, you have the freedom to choose which NPCs you want to redesign.
Also, if you have a request to design an existing Dragon-Age character to fit your game, you can post a comment here
http://www.dragonage.../file.php?id=55
and I will see if I can do the design. If I feel that it's something that is feasible, fits the theme of my project, etc. then you will see your new design in the file called the "REQUEST BOX" here. I am open to all redesigns but I refuse to do "Sacred Ashes" redesigns.

Though the 'Can I Run It' website informed me that my computer is well over the min-system specs it has been wrong in the past (The Witcher comes to mind) and those moments have put quite the strain on my PC. As such, I believed it was...prudent, to avoid purchasing the PC version of DA and heir on the side of caution. Thus far, I have been happy with my choice. Now, however...
Well, there is little I can do about it now. My sincere admiration goes out to the creators of many of these amazing Mods (Morrigan version 15 in particular. Stunning) and I hope all of you continue to enjoy these incredible improvements to an already amazing game. Cheers.

Hrm, it looks like a neat idea but I question the legality of providing a stand-alone program that allows you to design and play characters from DA.

For face mods after the first playthrough:
Dragon Age Redesigned (Check out Leliana v9 and Lady of the Forest Morrigan)
Improved Atmosphere (Makes subtle changes to the core game and/or adds some additional face mods)
For Character Creation:
More Hairstyles (Contains compatibility file for the following 3 mods)
Chargen Package
Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors
CC Extra Tints and Tones
For Immersion:
No Decaying Corpses
For Adults (contains nudity):
Natural Bodies
Realistic Look (Realism debatable)
Lady of the Forest and Desire Demon Retextures
For Awesomeness:
Forced Deathblows
For Goof-ups:
Character Respecialization
For Readability:
FtG UI Mod - More Readable Fonts and UI
Various:
Dialogue Tweaks
Proper Blood Dragon Armor (cleaner texture)
Camp Storage Chest (this is a MUST)
Improved Follower Items
Improved Origin Items
Two Specializations Sten (I always wondered about this)
Ancient Elven Boots (adds to location)
Critical Hit Chance Quickfix
No Helmet Hack (so you can see your character's face that you worked so hard to create at all times)
Plus Healing Received Fix (Haven't tested, no idea if it works)
Textures for beefy computers:
HDR Textures
JBTextures
4Aces Textures
For textures, I installed HDR Textures first, then JBTextures followed by 4Aces HiRes Pack 2 (for some core retextures that look amazing) I haven't tested 4Aces HiRes Pack 1 versus JB Textures.
But for some items that may not look right, remove
Faces: Everything that starts with (uh_)
Nude bodies: (hf_arm_nuda_) and (hm_arm_nuda_)
Weapn: p_wpn
Armor: pf_arm_ & pm_arm_ & pn_arm_
Cloth: pf_cth_ & pm_cth_ & pn_cth_
Robes: pf_rob_ & pm_rob_ & pn_rob_
Blood: (there are 10 files that begin with blood)
Visuals: (Remove any files beginning with fx_ or fx*_)
Blood Dragon Armor: pn_hlf_bdaa_ and pn_arm_bdaa_
For everything that goes in the override folder, I recommend keeping everything in their respective folders, except things that may conflict, such as various texture mods. I have those all in a folder labeled Textures. With this many mods, it gets hard to keep track.

Yes, pretty much.
You simply download and unpack the mod and then pull the specific faces your want into your "Override" folder per the author's instructions.
In some cases, Dracomie offers a couple of versions (Leliana, for example, and Morrigan [one of the few I didn't use]). There are pics of most of the new faces at the Nexus Site and, frankly, I think this mod makes DA:O far more enjoyable to play.
Ser Perth, Loghain, Ser Cauthrien, Branka, Soris, Cammen, Lanaya, Rica, the nurse at Ostagar, virtually everyone gets the "treatment". In almost every case, I've found these faces to be superior (in some cases VASTLY superior) to those used in the original game.

Aye, I appreciate the answer (as well as dracomies' earlier one). I actually went ahead and dl'd it earlier today. I'm actually pretty glad for the file structure being so customisable. For anyone that was unsure and sitting on the fence with the mod, I'd definitely recommend it.
