im so sick and tired of every movie having a MALE as the lead role... so sick and tired of every action movie is a dude.... for ONCE LET THERE BE A WOMAN.... i cant think of any massive blockbuster titles in action movie where the woman is the lead roll of a decent sci fi/action movie....

so please let it be a female shepard... not a ddude... or this will be doomed to fail.... 90% of people play female shep than a man one.....

Ashley should be the lead female in a Mass Effect movie because she's basically femshep. While I think Shepard makes more sense as a male in terms of his father-son relationship with Anderson, Shep doesn't necessarily have to be the primary protagonist. I'd give equal screentime to Garrus, Wrex, Liara and Tali also. Kaidan no so much.

I'd make Kaidan seem more like Shepard's best-friend who chooses to die hero-ically of his own volition. Shepard feels responsable for putting him in that position. Liara should just be a young impressionable teenager along with tali.... it would be wrong to depict shepard taking advantage of them on screen.

 Actualy that would be really good.... Ashley as the Female Shepard in the movie... the lead role.... that would actualy work.... everyone has experianced her story be it playing a male or female shepard....

i just REALLY do not want another crappy movie... with another crappy man trying to act cool and tough... im sick of it....

Arnold swartz Will Smith... Vin Dieseal.... bruce willis.... sylvestor stallone.... all of em male action heros.... wheres the female action heros?

lord of the rings... all male cast....

Marvel avengers movie... 90% all male cast main heros was all male....

its getting so dam boreing having a male main for a action/hero role its getting sick its why i dont watch movies anymore i cant express enough of my hatred of way to many males used in movie roles and all the women are in chic flicks....

GIVE US A FEMALE FOR A TRUE ACTION ROLE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that you mention it a Mass Effect movie would be more like an ensemble superhero movie than a traditional action hero movie. Only this one would have plenty of strong female superheros. If Ashley was more likeable like femshep  and was female co-lead with a male shepard [except for being held back slightly by politics] then I think that would be the best of both worlds. I still think Garrus and Wrex would steal the show though and sell all the merchanise regardless.

Depends how you play femshep. I meant in the female action hero mold. It also depends on whether or not you romance her and mold her into your prodigy; an ultra-paragon who defends the council at the expense of the human fleet. Her character arc in ME1 is amazing.

If we couldn't have femshep as shepard then let's turn ashley into femshep by putting femshep in ashley's position. An excelent soldier equal to maleshep except for being held back by politics and groundsided to some irrelevant colony instead of [insert heroic backstory here].

While I'd prefer that Mass Effect never be a film, despite how much I'd love to see it, I don't see anyway to do it justice, within real budget constraints or story choices. So much would have to be cut. But here's as close as I can get to soemthing real and workable. Also, I'm going with all the main people, as I don't know who'd they'd use as far as characters for a first film (they could cherrypick)
I'm also going with different actors than the voice actors. Many people are saying CGI this and that, but most if not all of these CGI based performances use at least some Mo-cap, and as an actor, I can tell you body acting is a lot different than voice acting. The ability to do one does not indicate the other (or vice versa). And going for midlevel and low budget actors, as this would likely be the strategy to save for VFX.

Director- Neil Bloomkamp (District 9 ,Elysium)
It all begins and end with the director, film is a director's medium. Bloomkamp may be the best up and coming director in Sci-Fi

Writer- John Logan (Skyfall, Hugo) & Bloomkamp
The hardest part to get right with this story. Logan is the best working screenwriter IMO
