Last night Charles Shepard travelled to Thessia to meet up with an Asari science team to locate an artifact located inside an ancient temple that could help find a missing component to the crucible.  When they arrived in the system the planet was besieged with the Reapers assaulting the planet in full force.  The mission ultimately became more desparate and dire.  Liara pleaded to go since it was her homeworld and Shepard decided to bring Javik along as well.  When they arrived on the planet it was hard to keep Liara focused since her home was getting decimated by reaper forces.  After fighting their way through reaper forces (including a close encounter with a capital ship reaper).  They finally made it inside the temple where through observing some of the artifacts on display Javik noted the Prothean influence on Asari history to Liara's disbelief.  The science team was found dead but it did not appear they died at the hands of reaper forces because their throats had been slit.  While looking around both Shepard and Javik could sense something and Shepard realized it was a Prothean beacon (after all it isn't something one forgets).  After they had located the beacon they stumbled across a prothean VI calling itself Vendetta and it held the key to finding the missing component that was needed for the crucible to send the reapers back to hell.  But before they could extract the information the VI detected an indoctrinated presence and the Cerberus assassin that attempted to kill the council back during the coup had arrived.  He had brought with him a communicator which he used so the the Illusive Man could talk to Shepard in which the Illusive Man tried to convince Shepard that the Reapers shouldn't be destroyed but controlled instead.  After speaking with the Illusive Man it became obvious to Shepard that the Illusive Man was indoctrinated so after exchanging words with each other TIM ordered Kai Leng to extract the VI and after a brief confronation Kai Leng with the aide of a gun ship managed to disable Shepard's squad momentarily giving him enough time to extract the information before Shepard and crew could recover.  By the time Leng escaped it was too late for Shepard to get the information.  Shepard and crew watched helplessly as the Asari forces were overwhelmed by the Reapers and Thessia was lost.  With the mission a failure and the planet about to fall to the Reapers, Shepard and crew returned to the Normandy where it was revealed that specialist Trainer had managed to track Kai Leng's shuttle to the Lera System.  After consoling Liara and dealing with his own anger and frustration Shepard decided to travel a communications array that was under attack by Cerberus forces and he took great pleasure in decimating the Cerberus goons that were attacking the facility (something about biotically charging an Cerberus goon and blasting him in the face with a shotgun is very therapeutic).  An alliance scientist was rescued in the process and Shepard headed back to the citadel to regroup and gather his thoughts.

If you hate Liara, well, that's your business, but you're missing out on the most powerful ally in the game, for biotic users.

Thats better.

Problem is that you have to essentially spam biotic combos. Individually, they do next to nothing.

This is why I still prefer how Mass Effect 1 used the powers. Not as flashy I admit but you had far more freedom on how and when you used them.

You say this like it's a bad thing. Biotic explosions = good and fun, especially if you can really ramp up the cooldown speed. I mean, come on, that particular biotic explosion sound effect even sounds like it really hurts.

That's what I do. I only use the Mattlock when playing an adept or engineer with a 200% recharge speed.

Me too, me too, me too.

The snails pace of Darya's trek through Mass Effect continues with Virmire Part 2

Visions! All I have are visions! Ilos! And you don't even know where it is? Useless! You're all useless! I want to kill something.

Hahaha... did a double-take on your subtitles. Ad-lib is the best lib.

Amy is a jerk. Nice looking in her pink and black armor. But a jerk. Not terribly incognito either. :)

And we haven't even gotten to Darya's ME2 yet.  :P Hell, she hasn't even gotten to Noveria. You see my OCD makes me color correct the screen shots before I post them. Hmmm... what can she do there?

I'd really like to do Tali's pilgrimage, but I really really really really really hate driving that Mako on the PC. It was easy on the XBox 360. On the PC? I'm really glad they got rid of it. I'm not going to even get Overlord for ME2 and I'm dreading the LotSB car chase. Please tell me that ME2 works with a Microsoft Controller on the PC.

The LotSB car chase isn't anywhere near as ... difficult... as driving the mako. The hammerhead is tricky. Of course I have nothing to compare it to, because I find using a controller to be awkward and rage-inducing.

Mmm, the renegade look is cool and all, and I do like it, but I start to hate it as time goes by. I don't heal my scars in ME2, but I still don't like my Shep with the scars...

You should try out that mod for the old ME1 style scars in ME3. They look really good. Like, amazingly good.

EDIT: Oops, forgot the link.

Well, I prefer my FemShep scar-free. The renegade scars kinda ruin her for me, therefore, I keep my Paragon up way higher than my Renegade while throwing Renegade in there.

I totally understand, I heal the scars in ME2... but I just thought I'd throw that out there as an option.

Had a little fun hanging out in the apartment, playing some matches at the Armax Arena, and then got serious as Shepard began to investigate the mystery of Leviathan.

When I look at renegade shep I sometimes wish for a terminator mod. Just replace him/her with the metal skeleton... Bonus point's if all sheps conversations were replaced by completely random ahnuld quotes. :D

Today the suicide mission. Damn, that music is epic. After securing the shipment of the captured geth back to Cerberus We set course though the Omega 4 relay. I'm a big fan of research, and if it helps win the war I'm all for it. This is my excuse for fully upgrading the Normandy's shields, armor and cannons, and we made it through the relay with a few scrapes, a few bumps and bruises, and one Oculus-sized hole in my shuttle bay. I love my ship. But my ship was also offline, so we were continuing this assault on foot.

We lost Jacob first. He volunteered so I gave him the job of crawling through some heating vents for awhile. I thought he could handle it, but the crawl exhausted him, and he got sloppy. He took a rocket to the face after failing to close the door we just ran through behind us in time. Grunt led the rest of the squad on the secondary assault, and everyone survived under his command. He looked ready for it.

For the next stage, I let Miranda use her genetically perfect biotic skills to form a sphere around my team -- Garrus, Kasumi and me. Taking Kasumi on the long walk was a bad idea, a complete waste of her shadow strike ability. But she survived. Garrus, however, did not. Miranda finally understood that it takes more than perfect genes to win this thing. She choked and we had to make a mad dash for the door. Garrus paid the price.

I let my feelings for Thane cloud my judgment and put him in charge of the second fireteam. I believed he was up to it because I wanted him to be. But he took a bullet in the gut after we reached our destination. I was really starting to like him too.

It wasn't hard to see that ever since the trial on the quarian ship Tali hated me. She didn't like me very much anyway, not since Freedom's Progress... hell, not since i refused to give her all that geth data we found a few years ago.  I haven't been very good to her at all... ever. But she kept coming back to serve on the Normandy. And this time she sacrificed herself to make sure the cerberus people could make it back to the ship. I respect her for that.

Mordin tried to one up that Kirrahe fellow I'd met on Virmire. It became clear very quickly that he was going to sing his effort at a "hold-the-line" speech, but while I didn't put him in charge of anything, I thought it was better if he not sing and focus on the whole collector-reaper-prothean, It quickly became apparent that his miltary training took place long ago. Grunt's record of keeping a team (such as it was) is now 1-1.

After all that, I thought TIM made a compelling case for his side of what we should do next, and let him try to save the collector base.

Survivors: Zaeed, Morinth, Miranda, Grunt, Jack, and Kasumi.

Casualties: Tali, Mordin, Garrus, Jacob, and Thane.

Up next is prep for import, and then import.
