Speaking of dying Ashleys:

Does anybody know if I can still romance Liara after I've chosen Ashley in the whole love triangle thing, but then have Ashley die on Virmire?

Last night, Arya Shepard

Liberated a young man, David Archer from a VI-neural interface.

Helped Garrus settle accounts with an old friend.

Stopped Thane's son from a broad daylight assassination after 'the shortest interrogation in history'.

Ran with Grunt as his Krant, took down a Thresher Maw together.

Killed Maelon for his crimes, but saved his research data. It may come in handy as a carrot for any future negotiations with the Krogan.

Still have Samara and Jacob to get done, then the remaining side missions. LotSB and Arrival will be post-SM. My P/R bars look about 75% R and 60 % P, so far I still have both blue and red persuade available. I credit my balanced persuadatron ME1 import. Makes a big difference to come in with maxxed out P/R values.

Taking a bit of a break from Skyrim

Julie Shepard.

did the Turian bomb mission. Saw a lot of the dumb dumbs. From the time I stepped off the shuttle to the time I got back on the shuttle, it took under 6 minutes. Cool. Its nice to avoid the enemy and just run by them.

Sent in Terminix to deal with the c**kroaches. Saved the Queen.

Went to Eden Prime and picked up a new squadmate after dealing with more of the dumb dumbs

Now I will switch to playing Jenna Shepard and get at least to Chronos. Shouldn't take long as easy as it is to play the game.

I'm not sure, because I've never tried it.

But out of curiosity when do you play Virmire? My playthrough's it's Therum then Feros (that's when the romance gets "locked in" for me), Noveria and Virmire last.

What I'm getting at maybe you'll still have time to switch romances.

But I doubt it.

Just the way it went in my game where I chose Liara over Ash, makes me think the Liara romance is unrecoverable in ME1, but you may be able to rekindle things in ME2.

I don't know when I'll do it, yet. I just finished Therum yesterday. Now I'm back at the Citadel doing some shopping and some quests there... and then it's off for a long ass haul of doing UNC: missions.

I'll probably do Virmire after Feros, Noveria last.

So what I did yesterday in the MEU was save Liara lol.

I'm probably going to have Ashley die regardless, see if this has any effect whatsoever on the game.

Nobody ever done a run in which your LI dies at Virmire?

I'm not doing this because of Liara, I do it for the drama. In ME2 I'll probably romance Jack. Seems fitting for my ex-criminal ex-druggie party hardy Shepard.

I've often had shep's LI die on Virmire, I just never tried to romance Liara for the rest of ME1. I'm always planning on one of the ME2 romances.

Does it do anything remarkable to the rest of the games?

Played out Jacob and Samara's missions, had a persuade fail with Morinth! It totally shocked me the last one wasn't available and I succumbed to Morinth's persuasion. Samara bailed me out in time and I had no choice on who to choose. I had forgotten what that was like. I considered going to get the IFF but then I had this itch in my skull. I alt-tabbed out and started to install Dragon Age 2, as I still hadn't played it. Let it install as I cleaned up various side quests. Played 4 hours last night as a Ladyhawke and well can someone tell me why this game is so hated? Granted I've barely started but it's been quite fun so far. I've just been checking out Kirkwall, partnered up with Varric, got the old deed to our family estate, recruited Anders and paid back my debt to Flemeth. Looking forward to playing it some more. It's weird, it's only in the last week that DA:I has garnered any interest from me and I want a save to import. :D

Jenna Shepard

Sided with the Quarians and sent the machines to the junkyard.

Went to Thessia and talked with the big cheese of Cerberus, TIM. Then fought his sidekick clown Leng who won because of him having a gunship. Next time I will bring a gunship to help me.

On Sanctuary fought a bunch of the uglies and I completely forgot to talk with Miranda on the Presdium, she died. I didn't know it till she collapsed. Fortunately she was able to put a tracer on clown Leng

Took Thane and Samara to collect the reaper IFF. I like them on this mission; Their throw fields make for easy crowd control against all the husks. Did Legion's LM afterwards, and took Tali along so she could have a firsthand look at a geth construct. She had almost nothing to say, however; in a way it kinda made me wish I could have brought Xen instead.

Xen: We could study these geth in an attempt-

Shep: No.

Xen: Commander Shepard, I only-

Shep: No.

Xen: But-

Shep: No.

Xen: Please, commander, don't you see-

Shep: No.

Ah well. Destroyed the heretics this time. Never done that before.

After that EDI kicked the squad off the ship to make it easier to manipulate Joker into unshackling her shackles wanted to test the IFF's integration into the Normandy one more time, and while we were gone, the collectors abducted my crew. So I went through the Omega-IV relay and got them back. Used the Cain to take down the proto-reaper. Never did that before either. Big explosions have their place.

Destroyed the base, for all the difference it makes. Jack's post-SM dialogue was bugged or something, because she made no mention of my choice. All the rest of the crew talked about it, but all Jack said was, "Hey," when I approached her. Like taking down a base full of ancient bugs at the galactic core was something she did a couple times a week.

Everyone survived the mission. Let Garrus lead the second team both times. Miranda pouted a bit, but that's why I didn't pick her. Had Tali crawl through the vents, and Jacob pouted about that, but when I told him I just liked it when Tali got all hot and bothered, he understood. Jack put up the anti-seeker bubble and Legion showed us all what an efficient model the Widow really is. Miranda and Samara came along for the final push. I like it when Miranda tells TIM to p*** off.

Now all that's left to do is rescue Hackett's old friend from some batarians before importing into ME3.

Jack has never had any comments on the SM, destroyed or saved in my games. May be a bug or an omission. Can anyone remember Jack commenting on the SM? I really wish Miranda's change of heart regarding Cerberus was in game. Even with a friendly, romanced Miranda there is no hint of her loyalty to Cerberus wavering. Shepard can even agree with her regarding Cerberus yet all of the sudden she quits out of the blue?

My friend's 'Dany' (nickname) Shepard is progressing gradually. She plays it when visiting, over wine and chatting. Very fun :)

First visit:

-FemShep, custom

-Sentinel (Warp Bonus power as that's only one available on my PC version)

-Can't remember background

-Completed Eden Prime and 2/3 of Citadel main storyline

-She has been a mix of all 3 convo states and Paragon/Renegade, but has really been surprising me with how Renegade she can be sometimes, especially in regular conversation

-A good way to put it is that she's inquisitive and willing to learn and be friendly with others, but can easily not give a damn and just wants to move on

-She didn't mind Kaidan and Ashley but didn't particularly like them either

-She really wants to romance Joker; much more than Kaidan. Too bad :( - I wonder if she'll be against EDI in ME3 in jealousy? Haha. She may skip Kaidan and Liara and move onto a ME2 romance (I'm predicting Garrus or Thane as she doesn't mind aliens). I don't think she'll be going for a more lesbian Liara or Samantha thing, unless she ends up loving Liara (hasn't met her yet).

-Quickly swapped Ashley, her least favorite character so far, with Garrus.

-Has a lot of trouble with combat but it isn't really because she's 'bad' imo, but because she's not used to these genres (shooter, RPG) and she's playing on a keyboard+mouse while sitting on a couch (TV). She's getting better with every couple hours though, and if we get to ME2+, she'll probably be fine on Casual or Normal difficulty (Veteran is possible but would surprise me).

Second visit:

-Reached Level 8 at the end of it

-Completed the last 1/3 of Citadel and some of Therum. Probably would have done all of Therum if we didn't keep taking breaks to talk.

-So far is leaving most Citadel sidequests and possibly UNC for last, if at all (depends how interested she gets after Virmire/Other). We'll see.

-Her Renegadeness is really popping out (she had no problem with bringing Wrex to Fist even when I told her what the consequences would be -  "What? Its his job. He was hired to kill."), but funny enough, still has slightly more Paragon points than Renegade so far.

-She loves Wrex and her party is Garrus and Wrex, carrying on to Therum. Wrex is the tank and Garrus is the box opener and maybe medic.

-She likes Tali but doesn't seem particularly attached to her. Tali's Codex-like rambling didn't help. Likes her outfit!

Next visit will probably finish Therum and either move into sidequests, BDTS, or most likely Feros (she agrees with my suggestion of Therum-Feros-Novaria(with Liara)-Virmire).

I may update if she visits frequently enough (hopefully at least once every week or two).

If I remember correctly she does have lines in the game, but there's a bug so they're never triggered. Otherwise, I guess you could say she's nihilistic and doesn't care one way or another.

The squadmate reactions to the Suicide Mission were always weird to me. The way it's set up makes it seem like BioWare is trying to say that one option is most certainly bad. Every squadmate who has an opinion supports the destruction of the base (even the practical Mordin and the pro-Cerberus Miranda). Even TIM's smirk there at the end is pretty evil looking.

Well it's not much of a stretch to realize TIM has his own reasons for wanting to preserve the base. Even as a pro-Cerberus Shep, I could tell TIM didn't always have humanity's best interests in mind. As far as the rest of the crew, I just choose to think that they're not as forgiving as Shep can be regarding the collector ship trap.

I used to have problems getting her comments. Then I found out that if you go down and see Jack right away, before talking to anyone else, you will get her comments, at least if you blow up the base. Not sure what she says if you keep it. Anyway, she likes the big explosion.

Yeah, I could have sworn she had something to say about it. I thought it might be tied into whether you're romancing her or not, but that makes more sense, as far as bugged dialogues go. Maybe I'll replay the SM before importing.

Not today, but last night I did Rannoch and Thessiah in ME3. I am also getting started on a new trilogy playthrough, doing several things I haven't done before such as being a soldier and specific romances.

Today I finally found out what happens if you tell Jack you don't have time to look around her old room on Pragia: nothing. She agrees and you cut to the shuttle scene. No effect on her loyalty at all. A quick way to move on.

Now, one of these days, I need to explore all the different ways you can get a mission failure during the Kidnapping. Usually, by that time I just want to move on. Guess I'll have to make a save point there so I can come back and have Joker show me all the ways he can screw things up.

I just blew my way through the STG base. Maybe it's the Bacardi talking, but I'm enjoying this playthrough quite a bit.
