You're right. Maybe they tried to fix it, but were only partially successful ^_^

I was actually going to post this sequence but thought better of it as it ruined the flow:

Thanks; first time I have done (or felt like) doing something like this, it's quite enjoyable.

I did something I've never done in all my ME2 playthroughs, and that is the broker dlc right after Horizon

Its interesting on Horizon I had Zaeed and Garrus with me. When Kaidan showed up he and Garrus recognized each other, but when I see T'soni on Ilium, she and Garrus say nothing. I wonder why that is. Whatever.

Now I'm off to recruit Tali and do Miranda's, Jack's, Kasumi's and Zaeed's loyalty missions

I always found it odd as well. I've always suspected that all the Liara stuff was added in towards the end of the development for ME2 and was rushed.

The part that struck me as the oddest is the post-Horizon debrief with TIM. He talks about some carefully disguised rumors that Shepard might be alive. Also, the VS talks about "rumors" that Shepard might be alive. Rumors? Who needs rumors? Shepard had been parading around Omega and the Citadel, even doing interviews with reporters. It seems unlikely that anyone would think that Shepard is still dead.

I chalk it up to the change in mission order that came about when they decided to go from one disc to two.

Or because reasons.  Aria even mentioned that Shepard's death was downplayed, and all of a sudden people start seeing him again, I bet everyone just assumes what that Noveria Internal Affairs agent whose name escapes me does, he was into something real deep for two years

No, Liara was always there. It's probably because of production-changes if anything. LOTSB-like plot was suppoused to be in the base game, they didn't have anough time, cut it out for DLC.

Not only does everyone know Shepard is alive they also know that he works for Cerberus.

Kasumi is a spitfire.  Sharp as an omni-blade, that one.  Anyone who can take out a gunship with aerobatics and an omni-tool is definitely going to be an asset.  To say nothing of her tactical abilities.  She had this whole heist planned out to the fifth decimal place weeks in advance, maybe longer.  Makes me wonder if she'd specifically had me in mind, or was just waiting for anyone to come along with the requisite levels in badass.  Whatever data that graybox had was too dangerous to let out.  Kasumi agreed, but couldn't destroy it.  I understand.  I took care of it for her.

Broke up a Blue Suns smuggling operation.  Turning the crates over to Cerberus feels a bit like robbing from the morally bankrupt and giving to the corrupt, but I can play nice as long as The Illusive Man is funding my mission.  For now, our interests coincide.  Doubt it'll stay that way for long, though.

Just as I thought, Garrus has some ideas for a main gun to install on the new Normandy.  Something the turians call a Thanix Cannon, apparently based on tech salvaged from Sovereign.  Mass-accelerated molten metal, sounds like it'll pack a punch.  Didn't quite have enough resources to actually build it, so did a little prospecting as we were en route to our next stop.  Seems like its taking longer.  On the old Normandy, we'd just scan a planet and flag it if we found anything interesting.  Now we're sitting in orbit for hours, running scans and deploying mining probes.  I suppose the difference is that we're claiming the resources for ourselves, instead of just passing the co-ordinates along to Alliance prospecting teams.  We can put this stuff to good use, but I'm still not sure this is the most effective use of my ship, my crew, or my time.  Dammit, TIM, I'm a soldier, not a prospector!

Ugh.  Just when I think the merc groups can't get any more despicable, I run into Purgatory.  Prison in space, keep all the dangerous folks well away from anywhere civilized.  Sounds like a good idea on paper, and warden certainly seemed to believe his own hype, but it pretty quickly became clear he's just another slime looking to turn a fast cred off someone else's suffering.  I put a stop to it.  Not that I had much choice, if I wanted to pick up this biotic Cerberus says I need for my mission.  She's a looker, alright, and it's not hurt by the fact that her top is made of shoelaces and belt buckles.  But she's certainly damaged.  I don't know what happened to her, I just hope I can help.  I hate seeing anyone in that much pain.  Jack seems to have a pretty low opinion of Cerberus, and hints that she's been the victim of some of their more unsavory operations.  Having seen a few of those unsavory operations up close, I can't say I blame her.  There's a pool going around for how long it'll take her and Miranda to start tossing each other around the ship.  I just hope they don't crush us all into a tiny little ball.

The krogan Warlord, Okeer, was a bust.  Breeding krogan, just like Saren, but for his own purposes.  Still not quite sure I understand, but it seems like had some kind of Neitzschean ideal for the future of the krogan people.  Triumph through adversity, strong growing stronger off the weak, that sort of thing.  Not the kind of world I'd like to live in, but I'm not a krogan.  He died, gassed by a merc leader he was growing this army for.  Saved his prized specimen though, still locked in his vat.

Turns out this vat-born krogan likes to be called "Grunt."  He's. . . a little off, but he's not the maniac Okeer was.  He'll follow my lead, for now at least.  I've promised him good enemies to fight.  What more could a krogan ask for?  Aside from a future for his people.  This genophage thing is really starting to eat at me.  Sure, I've read the histories, I know all about how bad the Krogan Rebellions were, and how the genophage is supposedly the perfect solution.  But look at the effect its having on the krogan.  They're becoming more and more desperate every year, loosing more and more hope.  My question is, what happens when they really start thinking their situation is untenable, and their species is doomed no matter what?  If people thought the krogan were dangerous when they thought they had everything to gain, how much worse will they be when they decide they have nothing left to lose?

Just what kind of mad scientist did I bring on board?  Between his Collector work, Mordin's apparently confusing human and krogan biology and testing bioweapons for the hell of it.  So help me, if I get an unexplainable rash, I'm spacing that crazy salarian and taking my chances.

Jacob and Miranda used to be an item?  Huh, didn't figure him for her type.  If she has a type.  To be honest, as gorgeous as she is, I've always gotten the impression that sex, even just for its own sake, was somewhere in the lower one-hundredth of her priority list.  Still, seems like she's not the kind who wants any attachment.  Jacob was pretty close-mouthed about it, and I appreciate not wanting to kiss and tell, but I get the sense that she got in, got off, and got out.  Poor guy.  No one deserves to be loved and left.

We got a hit.  Horizon went dark, probable Collector attack.  We got there in time, interrupted their abduction.  Mordin came through with an armor mod to keep the swarms at bay.  He was confident, mostly.  It worked, I take back everything I said about the mad salarian doctor, and the Collectors themselves don't seem to be that formidable.  Some of them have barriers, and armor, but I can deal with those.  Warp is a beautiful thing, if you're on the right end of it.  Some kind of Collector leader, apparently calling itself Harbinger, has a worrisome ability to "assume direct control" over certain Collectors.  Not sure how.  They get a little tougher and a lot smarter, which causes some problems, but they die just the same.  Something about it bothers me though.  Not quite sure what, but I can't help but feel like I've seen this sort of thing before. . .

Ash was on Horizon.  The Collectors didn't get her, thank God.  It was good to see her again.  First thing she did was give me a big hug.  God, I miss her.  But she's not thrilled with me working for Cerberus, and I didn't exactly do a bang-up job defending myself.  She's pissed.  And I suppose I can't really blame her.  We have- had- something special, and then I was gone.  Now I'm back, and. . . well, it's complicated.  I can't just rush off with her, much as I might like to.  Too many lives hang in the balance.  Once this is over, I'll find her again.  Explain things.  She'll understand.

I really hope she'll understand.

Went to the citadel. Met Bailey. He seems like such a dirty good cop. I think he would have made a better Harkin than Harkin did in ME1. Every single store I went into offered a discount if I told them their store was my favourite. All I had to do was say, "I'm commander Shepard, and I'm a corporate shill." Heh, totally worth it.

For a species that's so weak physically and depends on livesuits to survive outside their own planets, the volus are real pricks. I really felt bad for that quarian! It's interesting how ME2 is bending over backwards to make me feel sympathetic towards the quarians, where the geth are merely, "no longer the boogeymen they used to be," according to Anderson.

I wondered if the council members each suffered brain damage at some point over the last two years. I mean, whatever spin they're trying to put on Sovereign's attack for the masses, they should have at least acknowledged that they knew the real truth during that meeting with Shepard. Something like, "look Shepard, forget what you hear out there. You've convinced us of the importance of your mission, but we hope you'll also continue to seek a way to stop the reapers. We will restore your spectre status to aid your efforts, but apart from that we can't co-operate with Cerberus. Good luck."

Instead we get, "Ah yes reapers..." Hilarious, but come on, Shepard saved all their butts. Anderson should have channeled his inner Vhailor on 'em.

Those two krogan near the souvenir store made me laugh. "Ugh. Asari are so... squishy. Where are you supposed to get a decent grip."

Now off to the colony of Beckenstein. Maybe after we rip off this Donavan Hock guy, we can take in one of those binocular factory tours. I hear they're amazing.

So, turns out this Archangel character was none other than Garrus Frelling Vakarian.  (I'm pretty sure that's not actually his middle name.  Do turians have middle names?  Have to ask about that.  Maybe check Codex.  Damn, talking like Mordin.  Salarian rubbing off.  Stop it!)  Never thought Garrus would get himself into a spot quite that tight.  Thankfully, Miranda and Mordin can more than handle themselves in a fight.  Solus is downright scary when the bullets start firing.  He just. . . goes cold.  Or maybe lets people see just how cold he really is all the time.  Never thought I'd characterize a salarian as "spooky," but that's exactly what he is.  Glad he's on my side.  And Archangel -- when did Garrus pick up a flair for the dramatic?  He always seemed so practical.  Still, nice to have a familiar face on the crew.  Well, half of one.  He got beat up pretty bad in that furball with the mercs, but he's holding on.  Never knew turians were so tough.  Or maybe its just Garrus.  Lots of people attribute things to humanity based on me, and I only wish more humans were really like that.

Finally out of that cesspool.  Though next stop is the Citadel, so I'm not exactly sure its an improvement.

Yeah, not so much.  Because we're a private ship, technically, not an Alliance vessel, we got routed to the "low-priority" docks in Zakera Ward.  Heh.  "Low-priority."  If they only knew.

Things on the Citadel are definitely different.  The new transit system is a vast improvement, but things seem. . . edgier.  Maybe its just the aftermath of Sovereign's attack.  Maybe it's like the tense, energized air right before a major storm.  The markets are nice, but I really hope the managers don't start comparing notes too closely.  If they find out that every shop in Zakera Ward is "my favorite store on the Citadel," well. . . I don't think they'll find it quite as funny as I do.

Met with the Council again.  I definitely made the right call endorsing Anderson.  Udina's slime, but he's talented slime.  He knows Anderson needs his help to succeed, so he gives it.  More than I would have expected.  But I think Anderson is giving Udina too much leash.  Like sending him to all those "boring diplomatic functions."  Anderson should know that if he really wants to be effective, he needs to be hands-on and keep his ear to the ground.  Not bothering to hobnob means that Udina's the one out there rubbing elbows and shaking hands.  I have a bad feeling that if Anderson doesn't get on the ball, Udina's going to steal the Council seat out from under him within a year.

As for the Council?  Still about as useful as screen doors in an airlock.  "Reapers.  We have dismissed this claim."  Well, thank you very much.  Remind me not to stick my neck out the next time you're all about to die.  At least they reinstated my Spectre status, but I get the impression they didn't really have a whole lot of choice.  Spectre is more or less a lifetime appointment, unless you really screw up.  Say, by bringing an army of geth led by an ancient omnicidal AI ship to attack the Citadel and usher in the extinction of all life in the galaxy.  Just spending a year or two dead isn't enough to actually revoke the title, and doing so without really good grounds would be politically -- what's the word Udina used -- inconvenient.  Especially after all the hoops we jumped through to get the Council to revoke Saren's status.  The more I think about it, the more I think they just didn't dare try and tell me I'm not a Spectre anymore.

Met another interesting character on the Citadel.  Willowy little woman named Kasumi, supposed to be one of the best thieves around.  She reminds me of Tali a little.  She's. . . interesting.  What's she hiding under that hood?  I'd like to find out, but I really get the sense her heart's somewhere else.  I know the feeling.

I miss Ash.  Miranda and Jacob are certainly capable, and it's great having Garrus back, but Ash. . . nevermind.  According to Anderson, she's been promoted, and is off on some secret mission or other.  He won't say what.  I hope she's alright.  I'm half hoping and half dreading bumping into her.  I'd love to see her again, but I have no idea what I'd say.

The more I walk around, the more I like this new Normandy.  The old one sure seemed cutting-edge at the time, but the design flaws are becoming more and more apparent the more I get to know the Cerberus reboot.  The original Normandy was small and cramped, felt like we were packed in like sardines.  Par for the course, maybe, on most Alliance vessels.  But here. . . people, for the most part, actually seem to have their own space.  My cabin is huge.  Not used to having so much space.  And a fish tank!  Not sure I'm going to put anything in it, though.  I'm terrible at remembering to feed them.  Overall, the larger design means more space, more crew. . . she feels like a real warship now, not a glorified shuttle or fast transport.  She's missing a main gun, but I'm sure Garrus will have an idea or two about that before long.

Not sure where I'm going next.  Think I might help Kasumi with that greybox thing, just to get it out of the way.  Mordin's working, but we really can't move forward until he has some kind of breakthrough.  I'm a little concerned that he's talking about curing Joker and varren STDs (ew) and not Collector swarms, but I get the sense he keeps three or four projects going at once, minimum.  Working on one is his version of R&R from the others.  Tackling a new problem lets his mind unwind from another problem, and attack it fresh a full four or even five minutes later.  He'll come through.  God, I hope he'll come through.

This post deserves a lot more likes.

Thanks for the great comments, I appreciate it.

SUPPLEMENTAL:  Forgot to mention, ran across something interesting while prospecting.  The wreckage of the Estevanico.  "Wreckage."  There's a word that has a lot less meaning than it should.  That ship was gutted.  No idea how long she'd been there, but either the crash or the elements stripped her pretty much bare.

I've faced Thresher Maws, angry krogan, hordes of geth, reanimated corpses, rachni, and at least two omnicidal maniacs, but this may be the scariest thing I've ever done.  The whole ship was on the verge of toppling over a huge cliff, and very step was taking the chance that some beam would give way or the floor would crumble or the whole mess would just topple over, and that would be it for me.  How do I keep finding myself in situations like this?  Just once, instead of a "suicide mission," I'd like a "mojito mission."  Or an "Asari League Beach Volleyball mission."  Anyway, accessed the mainframe, got the data, and got out just before gravity won again and the wreckage tipped off the cliff.  I think that's the closest to dying I've ever actually come.  Except for the time I actually died.  Wrecked ships and heights are two things I could definitely do without ever seeing again.  I need a drink.

Don't despair. I bet that you will eventually get a mission that's all about making love to a 500 year old Asari expert on sex. And let's not forget Shaira. If you didn't take the opportunity for a roll in the hay with her, that's on you. :)

Well just in case you didn't know (and it is likely you don't since you have apparently only done ME1 once) if you take the renegade "that's it?" option upon completing her quest when she offers you her "gift of words," then there is a short scene where Shepard and Shaira do the wild thing.

You can also get jiggy with liara, get propositioned by shiala and get a good snog off aria (well if you are femshep anyway).
Fill yer boots with asari love :D
