I'm having a totally different experience in my current ME2 run. Doing the minimum to advance the plot far enough to pick up Legion has got me zipping right through this game. Gives everything a greater sense of urgency in a way -- like, what do you mean the turians disabled a collector ship? Already? I haven't been to the citadel yet!

You probably already know this, but one thing that helped me speed up the game was to run by the enemy to activate a cutscene making that mission quicker.

Or use HAX! All in all, slap it on Casual and forget about N7 missions, and only do the things you really want to do. A lot of missions in ME2 are unimportant.

Well it's not so much that I'm trying to make the game go by faster... Only till I recruit Legion, then I'll go back and do all the side missions. I'm still enjoying the gameplay and the characters, just not used to doing nothing but the minimum, heh. Seems odd.

Saved Grunt and Aralakh Company. The Rachni Queen dies every time.

In Mass Effect 2 I always did everything to ensure my squad survived and got upgrades for my weapons and stuff but I rarely did sidequests outside of those necessities.

HAX?

When I play ME2, I only recruit 8 sqyadmates and do enough to keep the game moving forward. And just before importing to ME3, I do the Arrival dlc.

Mix it up alittle bit. Have a few of them die during the suicide mission. It adds spice to the game

It means "Hacks," but I guess the terminologies of the MP forums are different from the SP forums. I hang around both forums.

So does that mean you always recruit 8 squadmates regardless of the kind of playthrough you're goin' for?

Unless I'm doing a specific playthrough, I normally recruit only 8.

@themikefest I think I'm going to start a soldier insanity run or an adept since those are the two extremes of my current class. Soldier was my original class until I realized I must be a biotic warmonger. I've been dying to wear heavy colossus armor in the first game. It was always so unfair I like heavy armor lol

I normally don't recruit Tali, Thane, Legion and Samara. At times, I have recruited Tali, Thane and Samara instead of Grunt, Zaeed and Kasumi.

I tend to grab everyone like most people. You don't like to have characters that are irrelevant to the ME3 plot?

If I was to grab everyone all the time, I wouldn't have the number of playthroughs that I have. If I only need 8 to go through the relay and have everyone survive, sometimes, why would I need 12? I have very few ME2 playthroughs with everyone alive that I've imported into ME3. I also don't look at who's irrelevent or not to the ME3 plot when I play ME2.

This is PNG format. I was too excited to grab out FRAPS.

I now haz the MP Weapons: Geth Spitfire(Assault Rifle), Collector Sniper Rifle, and Collector SMG.

Geth Spitfire seems to be in conflict with the heavy weapon version within the SP, therefore, it cannot spawn outside of the Weapon selection menu. The game will attempt to spawn it by taking like a 2 second pause, but then it will just slap on you the Avenger instead. :'(

I now haz the Collector Arsenal!

I heard Javik's voice in my head when I read that

It really does. While I've gotten import saves from masseffectsaves - where some don't survive ME2 - before, I never played through with some of the squad dying until recently. This time I'm having some of the squad die just so I can play their ME3 content without them in it, like Jack and Mordin. I used to always think, 'yeah yeah, I know it's a suicide mission, but no one gets left behind.' and now it's like, 'Stupid primitive, it's a suicide mission... although it is nothing compared to the suicide missions in my cycle. Then, everyone died. As it should be.'

I recently killed every possible ME3 squadmate to see what happened. My full squad is now Shepard, James, Javik, Liara and EDI (Ashley shot on the CItadel)

+Thane, Mordin and Kirahhe, sold Legion to Cerberus.

Killing Garrus changes nothing btw, except that you get to use Liara all the way on Manea, which, I have to say, was kinda refreshing. But that's it.

Which you don't miss because everything just doesn't happen anymore. Just like the introductionary Rannoch scene with Tali (where she picks a spot to build her house) just doesn't happen if she's dead. Killing Mording gives you Padok, killing Tali lets you work with Zen, but killing Garrus is as if nothing happened and he's barely even referenced.

I know, I've commented before about Garrus being the only one without an understudy, while Thane gets two. Makes no sense. But I do miss his content.
