Well I did something similar with my Dragon Age Origins. Had a ton of mods which took a lot of HDD space. Decided to just delete them all and start over only with the mods I actually want to use. Of course I assumed I had done the backup already. Well, press delete, yes, yes...byebye...check in backup folder..hmmm..all empty here. Crap. Had to spend a few hours looking through Nexusmods to download again.

Fortunately modding DAO is far easier than ME3

This morning's events kinda make me want to re-install DAO just so I can mod it easily. ME3 really needs an override folder.

No doubt.  I'm a little leery of Frostbite.  I know that DA:I is going to be on Frostbite, and it's known as very hard to mod due to some funky coding.  I would suspect that any future ME games will be on the same engine.  Which means modding just might not happen.  Between the ugly-as-hell N7 dress in the Citadel DLC, and the ugly-as-hell party clothes for The Mark of the Assassin (DA2 DLC,) I'm hoping that they'll have some better designs.  We'll probably be unable to just mod away that crap, at least for quite sometime.

Oh and I've got more galaxies up.  I'm nearing the end of the main game (Rannoch is up after I finish some side quests,) so I should have the complete set of screenshots soon.  It's all organized (spent about 2 hours yesterday playing clean up,) and I added a map of each galaxy (where it shows all the clusters) to the albums.  I had my husband, who hasn't played the ME games, take a look to make sure it was user friendly.  He told me it was very easy to understand.  After Rannoch, I'll have the rest of the galaxies opened up.  The rest of the Shrike Abyssal will be separate from the Galaxy Maps 1 album, since that goes into the Leviathan DLC.

Hey, no problem.  It's as much for me as it is for anyone else.   ;)

As far as modding goes, I am going to end up building my own coaleseced file after I complete this session of ME3.  Probably this winter, when it's too cold out to function.  Anyway, I just noticed that this coalesced has the DLC weapons unlocked for SP, some of which I don't own.  I looked it up and it's fine for me to use those guns and such for SP.  It isn't like I play MP anyhow, so that part doesn't bother me.   It took me a couple of weeks of digging, and that's the issue I ran into when trying to mod; those are considered modded DLC files.  So, I'll probably just customize my own (I know what to do now,) and when I'm ready for a brand-new Shep, I'm going to give modding a shot.

Playing around with the coalesced is something I haven't really gotten into yet. I tried a couple things in the past and they didn't work, so I've just stayed with gibbed and now Me3explorer... which is being a pain in the ass right now  <_<

For coalesced editing, I use this utility.  It's very user friendly: http://wenchy.net/me...lesced-utility/

For causal clothes codes and how to add them: http://social.biowar...34/blog/212390/

For everything else I've gone to the PC tweaks section of the ME3 wiki.  That's how I have my Reaper detection at zero, my fuel consumption low, the earpiece getting armored and my scan covering a system in one shot.

I'm going to be hitting you up when I'm ready to do another ME session down the road.  You know these games very damned well, and probably know the nicest mods too.   ;)

It'll be after I play DA:I at least once though, and the game doesn't even come out til mid-November.

Fair warning Spork: You will want to back up your coalesced file before you start messing with it.  Breaking that will break the universe.  Your save won't load, and depending upon what you touched, your game won't even start.  I may or may not have learned that the hard way at some point this summer.

That's kinda why I've stayed away from playing around with the coalesced. Nothing bugs me more than breaking the universe, heh.

It's a very easy copy and paste to fix though, if that helps.  Game doesn't load, just copy and paste your backup in into your PCCooked folder.  Easier time than I've had with some other programs over the years, for sure.

I really would like to get the beret added as a helmet for shep. We'll see... ajax armor first, heh.

For this session, I'm only going with the default N7 armor with the stats tweaked and the earpiece.

My file does have the pink and white Phoenix armor unlocked as well (the max stats came with it.)  On my last session (which I had Ash dead,) I had decided for giggles to put it on right before Tuchunka.  I hadn't modded the N7 armor stats yet and the Phoenix armor had some nice ones.  Mind you, I had no idea about the nightmares, or really anything about the game other than the anger at the endings.  So I ended having Shep's second nightmare where she's in Ash's armor and with Ash whispering to her in the dream.  Nicely creepy.

Spoiler

Edit: For fun, I'm going to put that on right before Thessia.

I've taken Javik with me to Thessia and probably will every time.  Speaking of the nightmare, I spent about 2 minutes lost in one yesterday because I lost track of that little brat.   <_<

Spoiler

Edit: It's pretty funny to me that as much contention as there is on the ME forums, one of the only opinions that seems mostly universal is that Kai Leng sucks.

Javik is what makes the mission to Thessia bearable.

I like the mission up until Awesome Toby up there shows up.  Talk about another case of mood whiplash.  The fall of the Thessia.  Javik grimly telling Liara the truth about the asari "goddess."  The heartbreak, the hope.  It really had me hooked.  However, losing to that jackass in a non-winnable scripted boss fight (the Banshees are harder than that clown) just made me go from near tears (again, I'm a softie) to yelling at the screen at how contrived that whole thing really was.

I would have been fine with losing in some way, since I felt it added to the story for my experience.  Hey, can't win them all in an inter-galactic war with mecha-Cthulhu.   I just didn't enjoy it going down like that by him.

Seriously, he just yanks me right out of the experience and kills my immersion (not to mention my suspension of disbelief) every time his face with that idiotic looking head gear shows up.

Modding is becoming a pain in the ass. Third time today I've broken the universe. Now the Legacy Ash mod is getting stuck halfway through the install.  :pinched: ... and I haven't played the game at all in two days. *sigh* I wanna play the game, not fight with it.

I wish I could say I tipped over some space cows in the ME series.

Also, what's w/ the crackling biotic energy? It looks pretty intense.

When I hit that point, I say screw it and just copy over my backups.  If it's causing that much trouble, I really find it's not worth it the stress.  I went through that with DA:O at one point, and it turned me off the game for a little over 6 months.  It killed my momentum, and just made me irritated.  It might be a good idea to just take a breather for a bit.

As far as what I did today in the ME series, I rediscovered my hatred for Banshees.  In my opinion, they are the hardest non-boss enemy in the series.  Atlas mechs?  A little tricky.  Saren?  Wasn't too bad.  The Baby Reaper?  Nuke it as much as you can, then chew it up with tech and biotics.  Harvesters?  Cake walk.  Thresher Maws?  Again, a little tricky but nothing a good nuke or two couldn't fix.

However, Banshees, between their movements, their instant kill melee hit, and their biotics, it just makes them the most painful of the regular fights imho.  I also think it puts several of the boss fights to utter shame.  Their shrieks don't help.   <_<

I'd learned some tricks of the trade and I'd know how to slow them down once I can get a hit or two off on them.  Still, they can kiss my pucker.

Yeah, that's what I mean by breaking the universe. I've restored my original backups three times today. That's enough. Grissom Academy (sans Jack) is waiting for me.

And I know what you mean about DA:O. I was no expert modder... I never made my own mods, but I did use the toolset to modify some already in-game items... and installed plenty of other mods too. It was easy to get lost in doing that, even it was just applying other mods.
