Welcome back, Commander Shepard.
Year 2185
Dear Diary,
After being stationed for two months on the Normandy, I'm still in awe of this ship. Turian and human design, with the best stealth capablities money can buy. My cabin is tiny, but it's my own. I'm back up in the stars, where I belong. So far, this is a great crew.
Captain Anderson reminds me of some of the officers I served under during my N7 training: Tough, but fair. Good to his men, but brooks no bullsh*t. He has no trouble speaking his mind, even to his superior officers. He's just careful to tread that line between professional and blunt. I have been learning about from him. Who knows, I might get to captain my own ship someday!
Tomorrow, we go and pick up a turian named Nihilis. Scuttbutt says that he's a Spectre, and that he's coming to check out a member of the crew. Some say it's going to be me. Me, really? The first human Spectre? I'm just a solider, and one that got lucky at that. Jenkins has been around longer than I and he's great in the combat sim. His knowledge of strategy is amazing, and he's in good form. I suspect it's going to be him.
Anyway, a turian. Mom never let me go to near one when I was growing up. "They're a strong and noble bunch, honey. However, it wasn't very long ago that we were enemies. They might not have much patience with human children." I found it strange at the time, since Mom let me meet an asari. Even met a salarian. Now, knowing about The First Contact War, it makes more sense.
I read up some on the turian's history, and they are some of the most disciplined soliders I've ever heard about. I'm just hoping for a chance to talk to Nihilis and maybe learn about more their military. We're supposed to arrive at his location in about 24 Earth hours.
Ah, I suppose I've rambled on long enough. It's time to get some sleep. "Sleep while you can. A good solider can't perform well when they are so tired they are acting drunk." Thanks Mom.
