Today in the 'verse...

Dealt with things on Tuchanka. Holy cow. I've played the sabotage angle before, but that was against Wreav, and even when I was going through it, I chose paragon (or upper right) options in the dialogues. This time, shep was just an evil, evil, evil dude, heh. Man, I gotta say, there were some powerful moments in there. Action and battling part of it all aside --  it was nothing we haven't all seen a million times  :D -- and for some, I suppose sabotaging the genophage has been done lots, but this was new to me. I'm just glad it was Not-Mordin and ...well... not Mordin.

Today, Scott Shepard took out the Collectors (whoooo, I bet nobody was expecting it :P). He did it in a traditional "everyone survives" fashion (which I do even with my Renegade characters...because one thing is Shepard being a hardass, and another very different him being a pathetic leader)...went to get the Reaper IFF (sniped the Scions, then Mattocked the Husks/abombs all the way), activated Legion, went to the Heretic station with Tali and destroyed it (I always do it cos it's for the best (lore-speaking)), also first time I've ever destroyed the final Prime instead of running from him...and still had half the time to spare :D Then Collectors stole my crew. This is an outrage!

The Collector base went smoothly, with Garrus as the fireteam leader (both times), Tali and Samara as Tech/Biotic, Mordin as escort, and taking Tali and Jack to the final confrontation in order to maximize "Hold the line!" points. The final battle against the Reaper larva was pretty amazing: first a Cain shot took 1/3 of it's HP, then I shot all the AP Widow rounds I had left in it's eye. Then the AP Mattock rounds. And then, just when the first wave of Collector reinforcements were coming (and coming from right in front of the larva), a single AP Phalanx shot killed that bastard. I was like :D

Then I told IM to screw up and that things were gonna be my way from now on. Then did a quick shops/team lookup (everyone survived, even the crew, naturally), and next up it'll be taking down the Shadow Broker and Overlord. Then misc missions around the galaxy, then Arrival :D

Crying Game 3

Well, thought I would mention if someone doesn't know: Crying Game came from this song.

The lyrics sorta fit the ME feel train :)

At least my army of pro's know how to cry, but sometimes I just wanna drive the Norm into a star

After finishing things up on Tuchanka, I got a call from the salarian councilor, umm... Not-Valern, and she wanted to meet me on the Citadel to talk about Udina. Not my favorite topic, but okay. Maybe I'll be back in time for Ash's spectre ceremony. On the Normandy bridge Garrus and Joker were telling jokes. We talked a bit about Padok Wiks, and Garrus mentioned something about Wiks never agreeing to handle the genophage any other way (than curing it). I didn't say much in return, and he gave me a long look afterwards. I think he suspects something not quite honorable happened up there in the tower, but would never outright say anything. He's my bro.

Looks like I was gonna miss Ash's spectre ceremony after all. Hackett wanted us to stop over on Noveria and capture a cerberus fighter squadron base. Oh well, Ash will forgive me. I hope. If it wasn't for the fact that two people are needed to deactive the base's defences, I could have solo'ed that mission easily. Already had all the squadmates I needed in my flamethrower turret and my electro-drone.

1. Make sure EDI and Liara stay back with me.
2. Throw turret at chokepoint.
3. Send in drone to make sure no bad guys hide behind cover.
4. Wait for EDI to say, "Defenses have been neutralized, Shepard."

Awesome.

Next, on to the Citadel, where cerberus was trying to take over. HA! They couldn't even hold one tiny fighter squadron base, and they want to take the Citadel? Again I say, HA! EDI, James and I made short work of any cerberus baddies in our way... well, except for the plot-armored Kai-Leng, that is.  <_<

EDI had quite a bit to say about the reasoning Cerberus was giving its troops for taking the Citadel. I didn't have FRAPS running to record a movie of it, and I don't have subtitles on, but she talked about Cerberus motivating its troops by blaming the turians for not helping humanity while Earth was being attacked, and since C-Sec forces were made up mostly of turians, they deserved a beatdown. I may have to replay that mission to get the exact wording, but my first thought was, 'wow that's a nice touch.'

Then I thought about it some more. Back at the Battle of the Citadel, I focused the Alliance counter-offensive on Sovvy, instead of saving the council. Two years later, when I met then-capatain Bailey, he talked about how C-Sec forces were decimated during the geth attack, and that humans -- not turians -- made up the bulk of the police force now. So... cerberus is lying to its own troops? What a shocker!

Before long, we got to the stand-off with Udina, and Ash stuck in the middle of everything. If I wasn't romancing Ash, my evil shep would likely have gunned her down for reverting back to her "I knew the old Shepard" crap. I thought we were past that, Ash. Oh well, I wasn't willing to give up on her yet, so I played nice. Didn't play it so nice that I hesitated to shoot the treacherous SOB Udina, though. Too satisfying to finally give him all he deserves.... and Ash called me skipper again at the end, in that way she does. Totally worth it.

Then it was time to run around the citadel and fill up my journal with a second bazillion fetchquests, which I'm in the middle of doing right now. About to meet up with Conrad again. Yay. Couple interesting points: I used spectre authoriteh to release a prisoner for retired captain Sommers to kill. Never did that before. And also had a run-in with not-Balak, the batarian who was using old security codes and got officer Jordan Noles' spidey-sense tingling. This batarian has different motivations than Balak; he was trying to help his fellow refugees, where Balak just wanted to cause trouble for everyone who wasn't a batarian. Anyway, I invoked my spectre authoriteh again and told Noles to kick every last batarian off the Citadel. When the guy started begging me not to do that, I gave him twenty-four hours to mobilize the batarian fleets for the war effort. He agreed. Sometimes it's good to be a spectre.  B)

Interestingly, on my first visit back to the spectre office after the coup, I heard a snippet of a news piece about Ash's spectre ceremony, and the reporter said (something like), "A second, private, ceremony will be held for those spectre agents who will be working undercover." Hmm, too bad we didn't get to meet any of them... or did we?

Anyway, time to catch up with Conrad.  :D

Addentum: Had a bit more free time, so Scott also obliverated the Shadow Broker today. Also, it took some reloads at the SB base, but I finally, finally got Assault Rifle Damage 7/7 :D I'm a very happy Mattock user now :D

Scott also completed a pair of misc missions (Estevanico and the Eclipse crates' one), and managed to grab Sniper/Shotgun Damage 6/6 from Liara's base, too. Don't care much about the shottie' one, but it's also nice for the Widow to have a bit more of a punch. Also, Scott reached lvl 29, which means Heavy Conc. Shot (the last power I cared to lvl up about). I'll waste lvl 30's point in Incendiary lvl 1 when I reach it.

Tomorrow: Overlord (Geth? pff, won't stand half a chance) + some misc missions. Then finish the rest of the misc missions the next day plus Arrival. And then I'll be moving to ME3, where I'll do 2 playthoughts of it:

1) No-Medigel, mostly using the Harrier V run.

2) NG+, mostly using the Saber X, but also Harrier X and Lancer X run.

...BTW, it's still undecided if I'll pause this ME marathon for a bit because of DA:I. I'm not very attracted to that game, nor specially attracted to that saga...but everything is possible, I guess :P

Take Dr. Michel on your first run, she gives you a Medigel upgrade which is not possible to obtain otherwise and which carries over in NG+ where you can choose Chakwas instead ;) Also, make sure to import Prejek Paddlefish in ME3, it gives a bonus intel in NG+

I already did "the Lewinsky" to Chambers in order to get that bonus :D And I think Chakwas gives a +5% HP/Cure scars Intel Terminal instead. Didn't know they give different rewards after that minimission of them D: If that's the case, I prefer Chakwas' reward...I don't use as much medigel as to require it (in fact, I used only 3 gels in an Insanity No-Gel run with a Novaguard...so a Soldier will be a piece of cake). Plus, I think Chakwas belongs more to the Normandy than Michel's, as much as I like her, too :)

Edit: OK, saw the wiki, only advantage is that it carries over indeed. Don't care, Dr. Chocolates is it anyway :D

That's also why I do it :D Besides, a Medi-Gel Upgrade would even harm me (a bit of XP loss). I mean, I don't even plan to buy any Medi-Gel upgrades until I reach lvl 60 :D

Rewind - Kat Shepard, Infiltrator, Insanity.

Restarted at Therum and zipped through all the side missions before heading to Feros. I killed Jeong (lol. I've killed that guy so many times I'll have to do a run where I let him live). I accidentally killed the colonists again. We'll just call it 'friendly (or not) fire'.

Then I went and sorted the Thorian. If they make a digitally re-mastered version I'd love to see what they will do with that part. Maybe something similar to the creepy "Flood", "Gravemind" look in Halo.

Stopped a Geth Incursion then did the Bring Down the Sky mission. After that did Pinnacle Station. Won a pre-fab apartment from Ahern.

Next up Noveria. ...

Today in the 'verse...

Ash and shep made a return trip to Eden Prime, along with Liara, to pick up another prothean artifact. No geth this time, but plenty of Cerberus mooks. There is one battle, after getting the two needed clues from the labs, but before opening the stasis pod. It takes place in a bit of an open area, and by the time we arrive the cerberus squad already has a couple turrets set up, along with a couple guardians and engineers and maybe four or five regular guys, possibly a centurion as well. shep ran up and sabotaged both turrets as quickly as possible and then we sat back and watched. Well... Ash might have shot one of the regular troops who was kinda out of the turrets' line-of-fire. When it was over, one quick overload took care of the turrets. God, I love engineershep in ME3.

The rest of the mission went without a hiccup, and now Javik is on board the Normandy, ready to kill reapers again. I'll take him on a few missions, but I want to take him along lots on my canon playthrough -- with adeptshep and Liara -- so they can be the three biotic amigos. So I don't want to burn out on Javik too much. We'll see how it goes. Got a lot to do before the plot advances very far. Have to meet up with Samara and help her save her daughter, and recruit Brynn Cole and her band of merry cerberus defectors. Have to turn in a few fetch quests, and pay a visit to Dr. Bryson at his lab on the Citadel, and that's just for starters

It seems everybody wants a little bit of shep's time and attention. Sam wants a game of chess. Vega wants to talk about the N7 program. Javik wants to visit the Citadel. Allers wants an interview. Garrus wants to break a hundred and thirty-seven regulations (or more). Cortez wants to have drinks at Purgatory. Liara wants to chat on the Presidium. Miranda wants to meet again... can't remember where. Oops.  I've got to check out something to do with the Volus ambassador, Din Korlack. Chakwas wants me to barter for some medical supplies down on the refugee docks. Finally Ash wants to meet there too, at the War Memorial.

And all of this in addition to doing what Hackett directed me to do right after the coup attempt; rendezvous with the Migrant Fleet... and Tali'Zorah. Uh oh.

*sigh* such is the life of a galactic savior.

Best part of the Eden Prime mission -- besides how hot Ash looked in her red-and-white uniform, that is  ^_^  -- the shuttle dialogue on the way there:

Liara: Eden Prime. This is where it all began. Where the prothean beacon gave you the vision that warned us about the reapers.
Ash: We lost a lot of good people when Saren and the geth hit this place.
Liara: Yes. And now, with Cerberus here, Eden Prime's colonists are under attack again.
Shep: Seems like more than just three years ago.
Ash: No kidding. I remember... I'd lost most of the two-twelve. I was running for cover, under fire from the geth. Man, a few hostile geth look pretty reasonable compared to what we're fighting these days.
Shep: You had the two-twelve soldiers, I lost corporal Jenkins. Geth recon drone took him down.
Ash: Well let's do this for them, then.
Liara: Cerberus hit Eden Prime hard. Whatever they found here was worth a major offensive. There are survivors elsewhere on the colony, but they killed everyone near the dig site.
Shep: We'll avenge the people of Eden Prime, but our first priority has to be whatever Cerberus has found.
Liara: Understood.
Shep: Do you have any idea what Cerberus found?
Liara: The Alliance didn't get any specifics about what Cerberus has uncovered. Since the original dig site here contained a warning about the reapers, it could be connected to the crucible.
Cortez: I'm bringing you in as close to the dig site as I can. No way we'll avoid detection but you should have a few minutes.
Shep: Appreciate it.
Cortez: All part of the service, Commander.
Shep: All right, everyone. Get ready to move.
Liara: With luck we can get to the dig site before Cerberus knows we're here.
