Today in the verse...

Well, I put it off as long as I could. Ran around the Citadel, watching news reports and turning in most of the fetch quests I had left. Went to the spectre office and authorized a transfer for some engineer who didn't want to fight Cerberus mooks in case she ran into her brother. HA! She don't know problems. Met with councilor Not-Tevos and found out about an artifact on Thessia that could help us identify the catalyst. Then I went to Purgatory and danced with an asari for awhile *ahem* just don't tell Ash that part. Hey, we only danced. Then I had a few drinks and woke up on Aria's couch.

Then I couldn't put it off any longer. It was time to get back to the ship and head for Thessia.

Then this happened...

Spoiler

Wow. I thought I felt bad after Rannoch. Moral of the story: If you're gonna sabotage the genophage, kill the big guy on Virmire.

EDIT: Update... Went to Thessia and fought *snicker* Kai Leng and his gunship, and a few reaper forces. Took Javik along for the trolling goodness, and when we got to the point of activating Athame -- Now there's an issue of Fornax I'd like to read! -- I picked some different dialogue choices, and Liara said something about the asari being careful with what they'd learned from the beacon over the years. Shep replied with (something like), "maybe too careful. Now there's no one to show us how it works." Then Liara went into her usual, "The few records I can access talk about tapping into data streams..." etc etc. Interesting. Maybe the asari hadn't been learning anything new from the beacon for a very long time?

One last note on Thessia: Afterwards, I had a little chat with Garrus in the main battery, about 'ruthless calculus' and he brought up my stand-off with Wrex. I had a chance to tell him what it was all about -- confess my sins, I guess -- but even though he's my bro, I didn't do it. I told him we had a disagreement about strategy instead. Oh well.

Anyway, then we went to Ontarom and killed some Cerberus mooks and rescued Grace Sato. Talk about disrupting the flow of the narrative -- I mean, we're supposed to be hot on Leng's trail all the way to Horizon... It's not that I don't like the Ontarom mission, but we should have been done with all these N7 side missions before now. They could have at least given us a shifty cow encounter ;)

Then it was off to Horizon. Zipped through this one as quickly as possible. Still fun to drop flamethrower turrets on choke points and chase reapers out of cover with drones. Realized my combat drone will zap those little swarmer things that crawl out of Ravagers when they die. Nice. But other than that I had no real attachment to this mission; I mean I like Miranda and all, but when I see her it just reminds me how I chose Tali over her back in ME2... then killed Tali

Speaking of Tali; after Horizon, I did my usual run-around the ship, talking to all the crew as I do after every mission, even though I know they have nothing new to say. Clicked on Ken and Gabby as I ran through engineering, and they mentioned Tali. Ken said he was sorry about what happened to Tali, and Gabby said (something like) they'll miss having her down there with them. F*** me, does it ever end?

So... after the Rachni queen on Utukku, and Tali and the quarians on Rannoch, and Wiks and the krogan on Tuchanka... and Wrex on the Citadel...  it's time for some shore leave and some soul-searching in Anderson's apartment my new pad. I really think I need to find myself.

So I tried the Citadel DLC for the first time. Is sneaking in the first section impossible on Insanity?

Wow, for the 1st time? Seriously?

OT, today Scott Shepard did even more diplomatic bullcrap on the Citadel (seriously, does that ever ends?), then rescued Jack (or better said, joined her in her slaughter) from Cerberus. Little else...I'm still a bit pissed about upgrades not picking up, but oh well....I knew I wouldn't really enjoy all my equipment until NG+. Nothing I can do about that :(

Next it'll be Sur'Kesh and the krogan females with Garrus and Miss Dropoff Liara. Man, so much rescuing...

Honestly, I dunno. I never played the citadel dlc on my insanity run. Sneaking only seemed to work until I killed the first guy anyway. Those cat-6 mercs, man, they actually talk to each other.

Yeah, keep saving that for my trilogy playthrough. Today decided to get a taste of combat and, well, it was quite hard until getting my squadmates back. I've accidentally spoiled a lot of the first two missions so it didn't matter much, but I still minimized the game during cutscenes :D So, I guess, I'll have to fight those mercs all at once. I just wanted to sneak past those guys, like in Arrival DLC

Cloak is always great :D  But lacking that then really fast headshots, or other quick kills are the only way. They can spot you quite easily if you only are in cover, you really need like a damn wall for them not to see you. Yep, the stealth mechanics are non-existing. And there's no real point to it either. You don't gain anything by doing it. No achievement, except maybe a few mooks who don't get called in to help the others attack you

That's what ME universe is missing. Actual working stealth mechanics. Hope ME:Next fixes that issue :)

Also, check out Twitter thread. There is something interesting there... ;)

Long time, no see!

My friend and I have had a busy month or so, so no Mass Effect, but we finally got to meet to play Mass Effect last night!

Previous Post (I think. I had to search bar the thread)

We were going to do all sidequests, but considering the time apart and our waning enthusiasm for the first game, we agreed that it was better to just skip most remaining sidequests and move on. We left a save behind in case she, one day, became very interested in doing a more completionist playthrough.

However, it is still the plan to do pretty much everything in ME2 and ME3. ME1 is just getting tedious.

Eighth Visit:

Level 47 (from 43)

Full-Master Throw

Basic Lift

Full-Master Barrier (might have missed this line in the last post)

Basic Stasis

Master Decryption

Master Electronics

Zero First Aid

Zero Medicine

Advanced Warp

Full-Master Bastion

Near-Max Charm

Near-Max Intimidate

Full-Max Spectre Training

-Very sad, but again, no more sidequests (especially UNC), and we're not doing Pinnacle Station. Technically, I could still do the sidequests myself as long as we're still on ME1, but I haven't decided if I wanted to do so. She did want to speak to Conrad and renegaded him and made him cry, but I think it was in the way that has him continue on to ME2.

-Squadmates used was Wrex full time (OF COURSE) and a mix of Liara and Garrus, especially Liara.

-Only Virmire was completed. It was good fun!

-Wrex was talked down easily, due to having high Intimidate and getting his family armor.

-Ashley was sent off with Kirrahe's team, which survived.

-Ashley was set away from the team for the bomb.

-When leaving to save Ashley, Dany Shepard decided to go back to Kaidan and save him instead. There's only room for one abrasive woman on the team (that was literally our joking together).

-Dany listened to the Terra Firma guy, and in a hilarious moment, decided she just didn't want to have anything to do with this nonsense and left. No 'yes', no 'no', just 'bye'. It was awesome :P

-Convinced that addict that he was an addict.

-There was the casino hacker guy too, and Dany had no time for that. Talked to him but told him what he was doing was stupid and left.

-Anderson punched Udina.

-Romance scene with Liara!

-She's now just landed on Ilos, with Wrex and Liara.

So that's it. Only Ilos and the Citadel left!

I'm not sure what she'll do with the remaining choices. She'll probably Intimidate down Saren, but I don't know about the Ascension. Could go either way.

It looks like her Paragon and Renegade really may equal at the end, which is really strange to her. She's trying to be mostly rude, mostly authoritative, all that jazz, but still gets the Paragon. Oh well!

One, at most two more sittings. Ideally, the next visit will be Ilos+Citadel+Normandy+Lazarus Project and maybe Freedom's Progress and touring the ship. That's if we have more than a couple/few hours. This may happen this month.

Arryn Shepard, the Sentinel, finally learned how to get that Assult Rifle High Velocity Barrel on, Omega. You gotta walk through those "ducts" on the way to the Talon outpost.

After all this time......Who knew it was that easy?!!? Talk about feeling stupid....Jeepers!

No s***. Tell me about it.... :P

Addentum: Sur-Kesh completed. Hate escort missions. Picked up 4 or 5 upgrades and only one of them worked. At least it was the only one I wanted...(oooh, hooow lucky of me :P). I'll talk to everybody tomorrow, then exploration for resources, and then Wrex's and Victus missions.

So I got to level 20 in Skyrim, and decided to stop playing. I will do a trilogy run of ME before DAI is released on Tuesday. I will call it "The Whatever Playthrough". Stay tuned on this thread for further updates.

An idea for a "Gun Blazer" Infiltrator using Ceyo/Disrupter Ammo, Tactical cloak, Marksman and Incinerate came into my mind. Unfortunately, my game decided that I hadn't unlocked Marksman even though i had before, so I cannot experiment with this built.

Finally got the Cerberus Harrier in multiplayer and ZOMG it's like space magic!

Will soon finish Engineer Shepard's journey and eventually Infiltrator Shepard.

I changed this from a 'whatever playthrough' to a 'fast playthrough'.

Honey Shepard - adept/war hero/Earthborn

favorite movie - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

music - Led Zeppelin and Ozzy Osbourne

landed on Eden Prime to retrieve a beacon

on Citadel to find evidence against someone

went to Noveria. A lot of snow

helped the colony on Feros

On Virmire, there was a big explosion

did a quick mission on Therum

my ship is locked

landed on Ilos and took a wild ride through a short relay

watched bad guy add another hole in his head.

I will take a break for now and then find a way to stop the reapers

Test run of Omega DLC with my Engineer setup. Rampant Mechs are awesome! Just hack one and watch the carnage :D Was a bit hard at the first section, before meeting Nyreen but Drone, grenades and Aria got me through :) Adjutants ignore my drone so I just fill them with bullets while Aria and Nyreen unleash their powers :D

Also found out that stealth is actually possible on Insanity, just in a limited amount. If there are two guys next to each other it's impossible to take both out silently, at least on my character. Lone targets though - easy kills ;) And my clone uses powers I don't

Today Scott Shepard nailed 3 or 4 Harvesters out of Tuchanka and rescued (really?) Victus and everyone else. First one nearly escaped, but I managed to hit it in it's legs enough to make it explode (they aren't so tough afterall...Banshees are tougher...then again, I've Rank 6 AP ammo). I've always loved that mission :D

Also did the 2nd part against Cerberus, and Grunt's mission against the Rachni (liberated the queen again...poor thing wasn't to blame she was captured). Also took another part of the N7 armor I wanted...the HK chestplate :D Only HK shoulders left, although I'm already quite happy with Armax's ones, so I'm in no hurry (besides, they come in pretty late in the game). Also looking forward to the Kuwashii Visor (Delumcore Overlay also comes way too late...).

Next it'll be ruining Cerberus' day on Benning and even more on Tuchanka, then some deliveries on the Citadel, and on to cure the genophage.

After spending an inordinate amount of time pugging away on MP, I decided I needed to get back to my infiltrator paragon Michelle Shepard. At least she doesn't have to worry about War Assets at this point as I have over 7,000 and I'm just about to start the Thessia mission. I'm bringing Javik this time to get the full troll effect! :)

Back to her narrative:

After discovering Leviathan's secret, I decided to go tweak some Reaper's noses by trying to find/rescue as many useful things as I could in Reaper controlled space. There were a couple of close calls but Joker was able to get us out of trouble with his awesome pilot skills. Then it was time to go back to the Citadel and reunite stuff with the people who want/need it. There was a lot of happiness and credits, a fair number of credits. I made the rounds and bought some upgrades but it was a pretty quiet visit to the Citadel until I stopped by the apartment. I had fun visits from a piano playing Lara (who would have thought?), a romance movie fanatic Tali (not quite as unexpected but still had no idea how big a fan she is) and a tattooed, and a work out crazy James (now that one is definitely not a surprise - and I should have made a greater effort to break his pull-up record but 183 was about 150 more than I had any interest in doing this afternoon).

Then I hosted a memorial service for Thane. I'm sure Kaidan was quite uncomfortable hearing me speak so emotionally about Thane but Horizon.... I think it helped Kolyat and that's the important thing. Kolyat found some vids that Thane made for me while I was under house arrest. Thankfully I waited until I was alone to watch them because there were some serious tears going on. To try to improve my mood, I wandered around on the Strip and ended up losing to Jacob at some video game so that didn't help.

Finally, I decided to go shoot things at Armax Arena since shooting things usually makes me feel better. :) And that worked like a charm, especially once I convinced Wrex and Grunt to help me out.  Many dead Geth and Cerberus soldiers later, my mood has improved. Now I'm off to find that artifact on the Asari home world but first I'm going to tweak the Reaper's noses again and see if I can help more people/find more stuff in Reaper controlled space.

Kat Shepard, Infiltrator.

She's been real busy. First recruited Mordin so she could have access to the Upgrade Terminal on the Normandy. Also picked up Zaeed while she was there and decided to do his loyalty mission, to get it out of the way.

Then headed to Beckenstein with Kasumi for a party and a little theft. Picked up the Locust and Kasumi got her grey box.

The went to Korlus to see a Warlord, but picked up my boy Grunt so I could take him on the Archangel mission. (That little dialogue he has with Garm always gets me.)

Then headed to Aite to stop yet another Cerberus experiment gone awry. (Awry? I like the sound of that. Awry!)

After all that found the time to do some N7 missions before heading to Purgatory and 'recruit' Jack. Poor Jack. Half naked in a cryo tube. Must've been chilly. Luckily she's got those 'straps' to keep her warm.

The Illusive Man then gave Shep info about the Collectors about to hit Horizon. That was a fun mission. Cloak -> sneak up on one of the big headed bugs -> and then Locust (with Cryo ammo) to their big heads.

Good stuff, except for Ashleys attitude. I wish you could shoot her in the leg or something, like you can with Conrad Verner. I'll just have to wait till ME3 to shoot her.

Left it there.

Threw a party today. Was a little different without Wrex, Tali, Jack, and Jacob. Usually when I've played it through, in the first stage of the party, Zaeed, Grunt, Javik and Wrex are up on the second level, and Zaeed asks which of the two krogan is the stronger. This time, without Wrex being there, Zaeed and Grunt are down by the fireplace with Ash, James, and Cortez. Javik is in the kitchen talking with Samara, Traynor, Garrus and Liara -- normally Tali is there, too *ahem*. The kitchen conversation wasn't too different. Javik adds a line about wishing he had a time machine so he could escape all the primitives -- kinda funny going back in time to escape primitives, but whatever.

The conversation with the first group I mentioned was brand new to me, and it just amazes me again, the number of variations there are to the party.

Spoiler

Bonus material. I really liked the screenie of shep standing by himself, before the rest of the crew arrives, leaning over the railing, looking at the Normandy... and then with Ash, holding hands, her leaning her head on his shoulder. Mark Meer really put some emotion into those couple of lines. The feels, man, the feels. It's why I love the citadel DLC.

Spoiler

Anyway, I really wanna get into a game of DA2 before Inquisition arrives, and my plan was to assault Cronos Station and then do Priority: Earth tonight, but I dunno, I'm tempted now to throw a quiet party and see how that plays out first.

Yeah, went for the quiet party. Not the same at all, without drunk Tali in the shower.  <_<

But... Garrus and Zaeed don't think shep is safe

Have to do Cronos Station tomorrow, I guess, heh.
