Writing a backstory for my new trilogy run. Need some help with the following question: codex says that 50 marines died on Akuze. With Shepard as the only survivor (codex assumes Toombs is dead) it ends up at 51. What is the corresponding unit name and officer of what rank usually leads it? My guess is that it's a platoon led by a Staff Lieutenant, is it correct?
Alliance ranking system for reference:
http://masseffect.wi...ystems_Alliance

I am not sure that the unit on Akuze was under Shepard's command. If it was, then I doubt Shepard would have gotten very far, if not outright court-marshaled. Losing your entire command is not something militaries look kindly on.

Well last night, Sarcastic Darya Hawke found Fenris. Brooding, dark, I want to smack him, but he's too good in combat Fenris. And we're well on our way to a full on rivalry. I think I'll keep him in the party. It's better than having Aveline around having a silent hissy fit every time I take a job to help someone for some coin. "Look Aveline, you're City Guard. You get paid for that crap. I don't. If I did this kind of sh*t for free every poor sap in the city would be lining up asking me to help with their troubles, wouldn't they? Use your head, woman! So cash up front. Another fine day for Capitalism! At least Varric understands.

And those bloody Qunari have arrived. Communists all of them. Well, off to the Deep Roads. Time to make some real money, and hopefully find some better weapons.

I just finished Act 2 as well :)

My completionism took a huge hit when I realized that Isabella's Friendship wasn't high enough so she left me :(. I think I can deal, and I'll even record this in the Keep, but :(((.

Everyone else is either at Friendship or nearly... except Merrill. Full Rivalry. BAD MERRILL. NO BLOODY MAGIC.

I enjoy Varric, Aveline, Fenris, and Sebastian in my party the most (particularly Varric and Aveline). Not Merrill, Isabella, or Anders. Which is good since I'm already a mage and don't need another one all the time. Note that this isn't me loving the characters - I am meh on most of them, which is surprising for a Bioware game. Still wouldn't mind seeing them again in a DAI DLC though. I don't hate em.

Next post is the next Dany Shepard update.

They got ambushed by threshers maws though. It's not like a Tarquin Victus-type situation at all.

Yay! Done Mass Effect!

Previous Post

As said before, we skipped a bunch of ME1 sidequests because things were dragging on, but we intend on Dany Shepard doing the majority of side content in ME2 and ME3 :)

Ninth Visit:

Mass Effect

Level 49 (from 47)

Full-Master Throw

Basic Lift

Full-Master Barrier

Basic Stasis

Master Decryption

Master Electronics

Zero First Aid

Zero Medicine

Advanced Warp

Full-Master Bastion

Near-Max Charm

Near-Max Intimidate

Full-Max Spectre Training

-Ilos and Citadel ending completed

-Wrex and Liara taken of course. Wrex for friendship, Liara for romance.

-Only Ashley died in this playthrough

-Surprisingly, there was not enough Charm or Intimidate to persuade Saren. The first boss fight happened. Otherwise, she would have Intimidated him.

-With some thought put into it, Dany decided to save the Council

-Anderson for Council

-Against her efforts, the Blue ending happened, because Paragon was slightly over Renegade!

Mass Effect 2:

Level 4 Sentinel

Throw Lv 1

Warp Lv 0

Tech Armor Lv 2

Overload Lv 1

Cryo Blast Lv 0

Defender Lv 2

Fortification Lv 1

-Lazarus Project and Freedom's Progress completed

-She finds Jacob sexy, ugh. Not saying she'll romance him, but she wasn't especially attached to Liara (but brightened up at the idea of LOTSB)

-Not too pleased with Miranda, at least so far

-Gave Veetor to Cerberus, under the thought that maybe they'd find something new from him (heh, they don't)

-Both Paragon and Renegade are near their first bar (out of 5). I told her about the new RP, which shouldn't be a problem since when it comes to most behaviors, she'll go Renegade (ME1 was just weird.. I think?)

-A LOT of import bonuses, both from ME1 (profile and missions and achievements) and the Previous ME2 Playthrough bonus :o

She'll probably take the game's and my suggestion to pick up Mordin first, but grabbing Zaeed and/or Kasumi along the way for missions is possible.

Maybe we'll be done this game this year. A lot less messing around on the Mako means a much smoother playthrough with a couple or few missions done each visit. :)

If she wants me to do the smaller stuff while she's not around, then that's also easier and less boring. I'm a 'master' at planet scanning now and N7 missions are mostly quite fast.

A couple of months back, I started a new Mass Effect trilogy play-through. Since then, I haven't made much progress(I've only completed Eden Prime, some Citadel quests, and just got done recruiting Liara from Therum), been too busy with college. However, my main goal with this play-through is to do a number of things I haven't done before. I'm still going to somewhat base this Shepard off my own personality, but I'm going to be more realistic and practical this time. I'm also going to indulge my inner hard-headed a**hole more often as well.

Marcus Shepard

Background-Spacer and Ruthless

Class-Soldier. I've usually avoided this class because of the fact that I got bored of almost all types of FPS' and soldier-oriented games over a year ago(still trying to sell my COD games). But, just for s**ts and grins, I thought I'd give it a shot this time around.

Facial Structure-Sheploo

Marcus was born into a military family, and as an only child. He didn't stay in one location for very long, and it was difficult for him to make friends or to keep the friends he made. As a consequence, he also wasn't very social. Despite this, his parents were able to instill a conscience in him, though it was tempered by his logic and experiences. He was also very disciplined, and put all his physical and mental energies in everything he undertook. He has a sarcastic and slightly sadistic sense of humor, but is usually a sensible and agreeable person as long as those he's dealing with aren't f***wits.

His parents were also able to afford the best tutors and teachers for Marcus as he grew up, and he did quite well in his studies. Instead of going to college however, he decided to enlist in the military. He felt a sense of duty, and he had no interest in college life. After basic training, he quickly and steadily progressed in rank, and was eventually given his own unit and command. Not long after, he was given a chance to prove himself and his worth during the siege of Torfan. 3/4 of his squad was KIA, but the slaver base was destroyed in the process. No quarter was given to any of the Batarian slavers on the base, and Marcus gained a reputation of being a ruthless soldier who was willing to do anything to get the job done.

Despite this, Marcus was not at all Ruthless. But his mission was clear: lay siege to the base and eliminate all enemy personal. He took no joy in seeing 75% of his men die because of his orders, nor did he enjoy killing every Batarian on that base. Yet he did what he had to; there was no way he was going to let any of those b***ards take anyone else as slaves. Still, he took full advantage of his reputation. The Alliance saw him as a capable soldier, and his subordinates/fellow officers did not try to screw with him.

I'll go into the rest of Marcus' adventures later. For now, I'm going to try and make some more progress. As a final note, I'm starting to become curious about the DA universe after seeing all these play-through updates concerning DA:I, DA:O, and DA:2. I'm trying to repress the urge to try it out(I don't need another major time-suck right now, I'm trying to focus on my school work), but I admit that I'm intrigued. Damn you all. :P

No, no, I'm not trying to write it that way, my Shepard will just be a regular soldier, perhaps a junior officer. Codex says it's his first mission. I need that for writing a fictional commanding officer. I got an idea for Shepard and a few other students just graduated and sent for their first mission along with experienced marines but I need unit size for that.

Stopped posting here since -- aside from DA:I being my new one true love, ofc -- I decided to donate the 360 to my cousins, and that means no more Mass Effect. It's fine though, my heart was not really in it.

Hi, I'm still hanging on DAO.

Killed dat bi*** during Leilana's personal quest and spared Flemeth in Morrigan's personal quest.
Trying to romance Morrigan. If. ll fails, I'll romance Leilana instead.

I first sided with the templars, but then I changed to mages, because bioti-MAGIC is awesome.
Now I'm going to deal with the Dalish Elve's situation.

Ashley: "Let's go to my sister's husband memorial, Scott".

Scott Shepard: "Yup".

(Later)

Scott: "Bye Ash, take care of your sister".

(Sneaks behind her when he had the chance)

Scott: "Hey, Kelly! Do you wanna some 'over the clothes' action, babe?"

Kelly Chambers: "OK, sure!"

(Happy moment)

...that felt a liiiitle like he's an a**hole (well, he totally was), but I'm really enjoying that "Ashley romance mixed with Kelly's secret infidelity" twist in my otherwise mostly-Paragon Shep :D Almost feel like James Lannister.

Not much to report. I played around with a Sentinel a bit in ME3, mainly focused on Stasis.

I wanted to see how Stasis with the Bonus Power evolution (30% chance to cause no cooldown) combined with the Bonus Power evolution in Offensive Mastery (15% chance to cause no cooldown) worked out. Theoretically, it should give me a 45% chance to cause no cooldown (almost 50% chance), but it did not feel that way. I recorded a bunch of tests so I could review the results and crunch the numbers to see if it is all in my head or not actually working as I think it should.

I also played around with the Shuriken for a bit on an Infiltrator (no Cloak) in ME3.

I miss the ME2 Shuriken. I know we have the Hornet in ME3, but still. I miss the ME2 Shuriken.

I think it is about time I hop back into ME2. Although I just bought Dragons Dogma and I want to give that whirl and see how it goes.

I actually liked Shuriken after giving it some time. It seems to pack more punch than Locust and is quite accurate from cover. I hate what they did to the Locust! And Hornet is one of my least favorite weapons in ME3

I doubt it works as a cumulative chance, but rather sequential. I.E., first the 30% (or maybe 15%) chance is calculated, if it still results in a cool down, the the 15% (or 30%) chance is calculated.

Or it could work in a way similar to the way AP ammo stacks with a piercing mod.

If it is additive, then 15 + 30 = 45.

If it is sequential (calculate 30% first, then 15%), it is still 45% chance, since sequential chances would essentially be additive.

15/100 = 3/20
30/100 = 6/20

So if it is sequential, then you have a 3/20 chance of not causing a cooldown. If cooldown, then 6/20 chance of not causing a cooldown. Or:
3/20 + 6/20 = 9/20 = 45% of not causing a cooldown.

Or it could work in a way similar to the way AP ammo stacks with a piercing mod.

Possible.

I still need to review my footage to confirm. I have about 80 minutes of footage to go through. I wanted to make sure I have a large sample size.

Kat Shepard , Infiltrator.

It's been a long time since I played an old school sniper build (well in SP anyway) and I'm loving it. Even though it feels like cheating a bit with the time dilation scoping.  My weapons are the Mantis V (that's a damn good rifle) and the N7 Eagle V as a backup.

Played through Grissom Academy and I have to say it was the easiest Atrium fight I've had yet. And the last fight was a lot of fun, sniping everything instead of using the Atlas.  I got killed once running for an ammo pick-up when I ran over a grenade. lol

Then I did the Genophage arc missions. They're ideal for sniping, - "Turian Platoon", "Cerberus Presence", "Krogan Scouts". Piece of cake. 'Benning Abductions"  was another good one. Cryo Ammo plus  headshots. Good times.

I was in a good mood so I cured the Genophage instead of sabotaging it. The last part I got stomped on by the Reaper (that hasn't happened in a long time) while playing matador with the Brutes. Or is it toreador?

Then headed to the Citadel to sort out some stuff. Rescued Bailey at C-Sec HQ ..

but since it was beddy bye time, - to be cont;.

Still stalling in ME2. I've recruited everyone but Tali, but I can't be bothered playing through her boring ass recruitment mission, since I despise fighting against the Geth, in all three games, they're such a boring enemy.

I thought I would have no problem getting into the Dragon Age games since I am a fan of Mass Effect. Boy was I wrong.

It's strange, I thought I would like them, since I was a major fan of fantasy RPG's, but now, the only fantasy RPG series I can tolerate are Elder Scrolls and The Witcher, everything else bores me to tears. I'm still trying to figure out what differentiates these two series from the rest though, haven't worked it out yet lol
