The Galaxy-wide domination attempt by Cerberus continued last night, as Shepard made her way to a place called Sanctuary. Those nasty Cerbies had been turning humans into husks, which just goes to show.. you mess with Reaper tech, you become an indoctrinated psycho who turns against their own kind. Well, Shepard made her way through Sanctuary shooting more Cerberus goons until she found old Miranda's father and sister. Yeah, fine, hold a gun to her head, I don't mind, I never liked Miranda and I don't even.. oh, you've fallen out the window. Never mind! Back to work!

Taking hints from Sanctuary, Shepard continued her chase across the Galaxy and found the home of the Illusive Man, though he'd popped out to the shops for a pint of milk and a bar of chocolate, so we had to deal with his butler, Kai Lang. Manga boy refuses to believe that swords don't belong in a gun fight and quickly fell, along with a few other Cerberus goons, and from there it was time to head to Earth.

But not before some fun times with Traynor! And a weird dream where Shepard's next to the kid and burning too. What's that all about? Who cares? Do that thing again, Traynor. Oooooh!

After dragging herself out of bed, Shepard decided it was time to head for Earth. Things were looking a bit scary down in London, with more husks, brutes and marauders than she could count. After bashing through the mass of Reaper troops, she made it to the command centre where Anderson was hiding out. They sat down for a cup of tea, it being London and all, and talked about how he was born in London and.. did I know he was born in London. Yeah, so there's apparently this big Reaper blocking the path to the beam, so we had to take it out with our troops. The entire fleet hovering above Earth, that massive fleet consisting of every race in the Galaxy, couldn't attack this Reaper because of, "Some kind of interference.". Well, okay then, makes perfect sense. Especially when the Normandy comes down later to take EDI and James out of there.

Regardless, we bash our way through the Reaper forces and bounce up into the Citadel. Anderson also made it, somehow, but went in a different way. He said the walls were shifting so I guess that centre point was moving around a bit. Who knows? None of this makes any sense. Oh, look, the Illusive Man is here too. Man, he should have went to makeup before coming on set, those wrinkles are really starting to show. Anyway, he does this fancy magic trick that makes me shoot Anderson, so I thank him by shooting him in the chest.

Over to the control console and.. oops, Shepard's out of there, nap time. Up up and away! To the little holographic kid she's been seeing in her dreams. Hey kid, how's things? What's that? You're the Reaper Overlord? Does your Mommy know what you've been doing? Bad boy! Bed with no supper! Shepard entertains the little brat then blows him up along with the Reapers, EDI (so much for saving you, eh!?) and the Geth. Oh, and herself. Bad move Shepard. The End.

Afterthought: I really think that last part with the kid is all in Shepard's head, placed there by Harbinger. Reasons: The AI isn't actually an AI, it's Harbinger. Harbinger is able to do this because the Leviathans could do this, as seen in the DLC. Harbinger is the harvested Leviathan so it's not hard to believe that it has some of their abilities as well as thoughts and memories. The kid has been seen by Shepard and been in her dreams. Unless by some freak chance the AI is using this image by default, someone or something is in her head and using that image. i.e. Harbinger. The AI says it's a Reaper, through the use of the word 'We' in its dialogue. It jumped out at me so hard my eyes went wide. First, it says it's controlling the Reapers, that they're its solution, but then goes on, "When fire burns, is it at war? Is it in conflict? Or is it simply doing what it was created to do? We are no different. We harvest your bodies, your knowledge, your creations...". Bad writing? Should it have said The Reapers instead of We? I'm not so sure, especially if you refuse and the kids voice turns to that of a Reaper.

The choices are real, the Crucible really has created more possibilities, but I don't think the location or the supposed AI is real. I think the firing console is real and Harbinger is trying to influence your choice. This especially jumps out at me when you are given the option of Destroy and instead of accepting it as a suitable option, despite having spent the last three games talking about how you want the Reapers destroyed, no matter the cost, Shepard is the one who brings up the question that there must be a better way, not the Catalyst.

A little more ME2 Sentinel.

 

I started to recruit Tali with Miranda and Jack. After dying once, I restarted the mission with Miranda and Thane. I had totally forgotten that I had recruited Thane YESTERDAY. It went a lot smoother after that. Still died once more, but that was because I tried to run to a cover spot that was already occupied by a Geth Destroyer I somehow failed to see. I got roasted. Ended the mission with a bang by nuking the Colossus and its cronies with the M-920 Cain. Beautiful.

 

Also, is it just me, or does any one else want to put a bullet between Jacob's eyes when he casually mentions to Tali "Don't forget to introduce yourself to EDI, the ship's new Artificial Intelligence."? Seriously, Jacob is cool and all, but that was dumb. (I would also like to smack Miranda when she tells Jack "You were clearly a mistake", but considering that Jack wants to rip Miranda apart herself, I think I can let that comment slide.)

 

And then because I had a little more time and it was an easy mission, I helped Jack set up a giant f'n bomb and blew the Teltin Facility to smithereens.

Agreed. Also when meeting Thane and when Miranda "greets" Jack.

Holy crap you've gotten far on your playthrough.  I think I started my current ME 2 playthrough before you did and I still havn't hit Horizon yet.  Granted I missed one day as I didn't get in any ME 2  yesterday but still.

How much do you usually do in a single session of the game?  I will typically do two to three larger missions with some minor stuff thrown in between.

Discovered a new chapter in asari history, saved a scared scientist, grabbed my long-awaited Locust, destroyed Cerberus with it

Also made Kai Leng eat a grenade to the face which he somehow survived only to get an omni-blade in his gut

Welp, my ME2 Soldier save got corrupted, and I can't be bothered starting it again, so I've just imported my Vanguard to ME2 instead, and it feels so good to be charging around again.

 

I've recruited Garrus, Mordin, Zaeed and Kasumi, and I just spent another 2.5 hours mining every single Rich planet in the 5(6?) systems open to us at the start, and I've managed to collect all the minerals I need to upgrade everything in the game, and then some. Those 100 Mineral War Assets in ME3 are mine for sure.

 

I may or may not recruit Grunt tonight, since I'm a bit worn out from the planet scanning. I'll have to wait and see.

A question for screenshot takers. Is it possible to rotate camera in flycam mode if it was activated during a cutscene? It only allows me to use directional keys, mouse control is disabled.
