What class and background are you using?
I'm redoing my Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator playthrough (let's call this one Revka). I want to fix the Conrad Verner's paragon bug in ME2. I want him as my war asset.

Kathy Shepard - war hero/Earthborn/soldier
I see Tali on Freedom's Progress
Tali: You're alive?
me: Yes. I just want to say that I won't be recruiting you. I will have enough squadmates and I like Admiral Xen's voice better during the dreadnought mission.
Tali: Aah...ok. I don't know what you're talking about, but how did you know about Admiral Xen?
me: Don't worry. You wouldn't believe if I told you. Just know I've done this before.
Tali: Sure. Whatever you say. I have to go Shepard.
TIM: Here's a list of recruits that can help you with dealing with the collectors Shepard
me: I don't need them. I know what 8 I want as squadmates. It will be enough to get me through the Omega 4 relay, destroy the collector base and survive.
TIM: How do you know all that?
me: The only thing you need to know is my information is more reliable then yours. I've done this many times before.
TIM: I don't believe you
me: Your belief is not required. I will talk with you again after I destroyed the base.
WOW. I got a new ship. Here comes the clown to fly it. I will talk with him later. He won't like what I have to say to him
Now to go talk with the crew and let them know who's going to live and die.

John Shepard is on the Normandy after encountering the beacon. Ashley was waiting outside and Shepard used this an excuse to undermine her further by asking why she was on the ship. He also told her that she needs to show that she is competent. At the moment Shepard isn't impressed with Ashley so far. Kaidan didn't have much to say either (Kaidan must still be horrified by his last two husk encounters when he got KOed)
The crew decided to go to the Citadel to report to the Council. Shepard had no problem hacking into terminals to get information and experience. He eventually came across an AVINA console. Shepard said that he didn't want a guide but the VI was very insistent. Shepard walked away and he is thinking about putting in a formal complaint because of the VI pestering him. Shepard then went to meet the council and threatened a virtual Saren in front of everyone (so Shepard is developing an anti-hologram attitude
).
Chorban was scanning keepers on the way out so Shepard agreed to help. He wanted to do this for easy experience and by being rebellious as scanning keepers is not permitted. Back on the Presidium and there is a Preacher Hanar and an officer. Shepard intervenes as the Hanar at this point is a criminal. He even described the Hanar as "A big stupid jellyfish" to the officer. Shepard wanted to move the Hanar on but the intimidate option is greyed out at the moment. He will return though so the jellyfish has been warned!
Shepard entered the Flux casino to gamble some credits away. He used a high stakes machine and won 100 credits (HE'S RICH!!!
). Shepard went downstairs to find Rita having sister problems. Shepard didn't help as he doesn't do trivial family matters. He also told Emily Wong that he doesn't have the time to do her job for her. Finally, Shepard met Conrad Verner and told the obsessive fan to "leave me alone". Conrad was upset.
Shepard was making his way to Chora's Den where two assassins intercepted. I think that I've underestimated the insanity difficulty as the assassins lived up to their reputation. The assassins killed everyone on two attempts. So I've finished the day stuck on two assassin grunts...

There is one of the weird things in ME1. You can tell Ash that she's incompetent and that you don't want her on your ship to which she replies that this is not your ship. And you can't kick her out after getting the Normandy. Guess Anderson made some kind of private arrangement there ![]()
Oh and those assassins are brutal. Mostly due to insanely long power cooldowns and use of Immunity. I usually Throw/Lift them off the ledge with Kaidan or blow them over it with a well-placed grenade ![]()
Fortification is good for always-on Damage Reduction.
On Insanity, Soldier needs Energy Drain set to max damage plus about +70% damage from other sources to fully strip shields off most shielded enemies (Centurians + Engineers mostly). Otherwise go Radius - Shield Drain - Armor.
Do not bother with Carnage on the Soldier. Concussive Shot amplified with Incendiary Ammo is better.
Maybe it is best that I just stick with fortification then. I am going to check out that link you posted earlier when I get a chance.
Do you even lift, Shockwave? Yes, I do
<snip>
I have to admit those shockwave combos look great
. It's like a firework going in the air and then BANG and I also like the fact that you finished an Atlus mech with a shockwave as well.
I tried so hard to throw the assassins over that barricade but no success
. I wish I put more points in throw to unlock pull rather than putting everything in intimidate. But I will persevere and fight the assassins until I do it!

Those explosions forced me to restart that mission about 4 times. The game couldn't register all the explosions and ended up not showing them during the final fight! You can see a glimpse of the issue at 10:15 - the Shockwave cascades disappear only to appear in a biotic explosion on the Atlas ![]()
Use Kaidan. You have to position him to the left of the entrance to the area (before entering). Then you lure the enemies to you. When they run through that narrow bridge connecting the two walkways, order Kaidan to use Throw. He throws them right into the traffic. Sometimes the next enemy advances faster than Kaidan's powers recharge. In that case I usually die ![]()
Ben Shepard went to Earth. It was weird hearing the Primark say lots of Turians died because Wrex was a Liar and left. Listening to a Salarian talk about Kirahe to his troops was odd. Javik said he and Liara are going to write a book which was weird since he usually says he going to go somewhere to die. One of the Quarian admirals was there too. I almost quit because every time I run to that damn bream my console freezes since they redid the ending. After 2 tries It finally worked and Ben Shepard walked away from the stupid kid and I got to see Liara's holo-box saying they had failed to defeat the reapers.
By far the best thread on the BSN.
I had no idea it would be this successful when I started it. It has taken on a life of it's own, to now it is at the point where there is a nice collection of regulars that post here and often they have pics or videos that makes it worth coming back to.
Ella Shepard finally got to face her Vanguard clone on the Normandy dry dock.
She got killed 12 times in a row before I cried uncle and lowered the difficulty. She was a freakin' menace. Biotic flames and bullets everywhere.

Vanguard clone is a menace. You have to be the aggressor or its all over. Having Nova at half-blast helps.
But without Charge... let's just say the results are not pretty.
Bulletless Soldier Shepard made her way to The Shroud and set everything on fire. Somehow managed to avoid getting stepped on by the Reaper and activated the Maw Hammers.
After some debate between Mordin and great hesitation, she lowered her gun and let Mordin cure the Genophage. That may have been her most Renegade decision in her entire life.
Oh, and I just finished uploading the Sur'Kesh mission in case anyone is interested.
Shep was running around the SilverSun strip and overheard a very annoyed N7 Fury talking to a clueless requisitions officer. Shortly thereafter, my own N7 Fury was trying to fight Geth on Firebase Goddess with a Graal and a strength-enhancing amp. She went down a lot, but her melee was surprisingly effective.
Last night, Jen I. Shepard went to try and recruit a crazy Krogan geneticist, Okeer, and ended up returning to the Normandy with a tank-bred super-Krogan. Against the advice of Miranda (seriously, if Miranda said "water is wet," Jen would find some way to argue the point just to pi$$ off that prissy little toad!) and EDI, Jen decided to pop the top on the super-Krogan's tank and find out what kind of Krogan was inside. After being pinned against the bulkhead in one of the cargo holds by the super-Krogan, Jen's powers of persuasion (along with a firearm pointed at the Krogan's midsection) proved to be the deciding factor in gaining the Krogan's grudging respect. By the way, the Krogan chose "Grunt" as his name.
After all the Krogan excitement, Jen took Grunt (what better way to see what the "kid" is made of?) and Mordin to a prison ship run by the Blue Suns to pay for the release of Jack - with the hope of recruiting her to their mission. Being double-crossed by the prison's warden pi$$ed Jen off, and didn't do much for the moods of Grunt and Mordin, either. They went on a blazing rampage across the bowels of the prison to smack down the warden and track down Jack. Jack proved to be no fan of Cerberus, which made getting her to come to her senses a little more challenging (isn't dealing with a psychopath hard enough?), but fortunately... FORTUNATELY... Jack showed that there might be a sliver of humanity left in her brain housing group. After being promised a chance to look at Cerberus' secret files onboard the Normandy, Jack agreed to come along.
I get the sense that Jen and Jack may get along quite well. At the very least, they'll have fun tormenting Miranda across the galaxy!
Touch me and I will smear the walls with you, *itch!
Renegade
John Shepard started in a fight with the assassins and after 3 attempts was finally successful. It involved throwing both assassins over the barricade (I followed Vazgen's advice by doing this near the entrance
). He then talked to Harkin about finding Garrus. It turns out Garrus is in the med clinic so Shepard made his way over. He barged in and interrupted a showdown and began shooting everyone.
Garrus said that he wanted to help Shepard get evidence on Saren. Shepard was unconvinced though as he doesn't quite trust Turians. Garrus made his case so Shepard just let him tagalong in the background. The crew made their way to meet Fist. When they got to Chora's Den, Fist's men were swarming the area (I thought the fight would have been horrible on insanity but it went alright). After the fight, Shepard threatened some warehouse workers and shot Fist dead himself.
Shepard found a Quarian with some evidence and told her that she should hand over the evidence as he just saved her life. Eventually she showed the evidence but wanted to join the party. Shepard told her that she wasn't ready but Udina suggested that she should go with us anyway
.
On the way back to the council, Shepard encountered Samesh asking about his wife. Shepard isn't too keen on dealing with other people's personal problems and he told Samesh that "I am concerned about the living not the dead!". Shepard did return to Samesh with information saying that his wife's body will be subject to medical experimentation. Samesh wasn't happy but Shepard bluntly told him that "THIS IS WAR, PEOPLE DIE!"
.
Finally got to the council and they were still uncooperative despite the evidence given. The Council made Shepard a SPECTRE so he has become even more powerful
. More intimidate points were added.
Shepard managed to move on the Preaching Hanar by saying it was "too stupid to follow rules". The Hanar politely removed his presence from the area. Wrex was found on the way to the docking bay and asked to join the crew. Shepard saw the use of having an angry Krogan mercenary as an ally because he could charge the enemy and cause them to panic. Therefore, Wrex was allowed to join.
Today Luna Shepard saved Kahlee Sanders. Unfortunately Ensign Prangley didn't survive ![]()
"Remember his name. And when you go up against your first Reaper... Don't let them forget it either" ![]()
After that she vented her rage Cerberus forces on Tuchanka ![]()
Bulletless Soldier Shepard went to the Citadel to go speak with the Salarian Councillor about Councillor Udina, only to run smack into the middle of a violent Cerberus coup. Needless to say, the coup did not last long. She let Kaidan shoot Udina since she did not want to waste any ammo detachable heatsinks.
Then Shepard spent the next couple of hours running around solving a bunch of people's personal problems they could not solve themselves. She also spent some time as a glorified deliveryman (deliverywoman?).
All that work tired her out, so she decided to follow Hackett's orders and take some shore leave. She visited Anderson's apartment, only to have him give the apartment to her. She tried to talk him out of it, but he was insistent. After receiving a message from Joker, she headed out to meet him for some Sushi. She hates Sushi, but Joker is a good pilot and friend. Maybe she will get lucky and they sell burgers. She's a Spectre, maybe she can order them to make her a burger.
Last night Tyson went to Grissom Academy and stopped Cerberus from abducting the students. Ran into Jack while he was there and together they made sure the students made it out of there. Today Tyson went to Sur Kesh (sp?) and extracted a Female Krogan that is immune to the genophage from an STG base that was under siege from Cerberus. Mordin will work on synthesizing a cure.
In multiplayer my novaguard mopped up Reaper forces on Noveria.
Today, Revka Amell Shepard saved a colony in style...

Drove the stupid Mako along the beautiful shoreline of Virmire, took out quite some Geth along the way and arrived at the Salarian Camp.
Talked to Captain Kirrahe, Wrex became a bit upset, but I talked to him and convinced him that destroying the base would be for the best. All Krogan would just be puppets. Wrex trusted me and understood.
Talked to Kirrahe again to listen to his plan afterwards, formed Team Shadow and prepared to sneak in from the back. Sent Ashley with the Salarians.
More shooting on the way, disabled the Geth’s communications, destroyed the Satellite uplink and destroyed some Flyers. Decided to disable the alarms upon entering the base, so Kirrahe's Team doesn't get more heat. Then that bastard died
RIP Kirrahe. (I'm not sure why he died. I thought I did everything correct so he'd survive. Must've missed something).
Shot more Geth, indoctrinated Salarians and Doctor Droyas including the husks, freed some Salarians and finally reached Saren's lab. Met Rana Thanoptis, who opened the door for me. Let her go.
Found another beacon, talked to Hologram Sovereign, then went and met with the Normandy and saw the bomb being planted by Kaidan.
Ashley popped in over radio, saying they're being pinned down at the second AA Tower. Ran off to their rescue, but a Geth Dropship at the bomb site forced me to re-evaluate the situation. Chose to save Kaidan, said my Goodbye to Ashley and told her to die proudly.
Arrived at the bomb site to see more Geth, shot them and got paid a visit by Saren himself. Shot a couple of rounds on him until he grabbed me. Hit him straight in the face when he's distracted by something, then he just flew off.
Ran to Kaidan next to the bomb to help him get up and carried him to the Normandy (Shep seems to like carrying him around like that. Can't blame him
).
Escaped the blast radius, Kaidan expressed guilt over surviving and Liara made sense of the vision. Going to Ilos soon.
Talked with the Council, didn't disconnect this time, talked to Commander Rentola about our losses, talked to my Crew, comforted Kaidan and headed out to the Citadel. Met with the Council and Udina. Udina sided with them, leaving me grounded. That SOB.
On the way to meet Anderson at Flux.
Bulletless Soldier Shepard met Joker for sushi, only to ambushed by a bunch of mercs who could not shoot straight. Not sure what the imitation Suppressor was made of, but it sure crated her cooldowns. It took a while, but she finally made it to safety where she got some help from Liara and Wrex.
(I probably should have done a few more missions so I could unlock Garrus's meetup on the Citadel to lock in the romance so Garrus would have helped instead of Liara, but that last part takes only about a minute so it does not matter.)
Bent for revenge, the team headed to a Casino to track down its owner Elijah Kahn and shake him down for some information, but someone got to him first. At least Shepard did not go home empty-handed; she managed to liberate some credits from some ATMs in the casino.
She tracked down the one responsible, only it turned it out to be her clone and a traitorous Maya Brooks. She promised to make them pay for their actions.
After fighting her way to the Normandy and then through the CIC, Shepard is finally ready to face down her clone.
I died a few times trying to beat the clone. I decided to take a break and calm down. Will be attempting it again shortly. I nearly beat it on my first attempt, but the clone threw some grenades and I ended up running into them instead of away from them. Never got that close again. Maybe in a few minutes.
At least I will have lots of deaths for a fail compilation video at least. Let everyone feel better about themselves in my misery.
