Shepard started the day with the Daratar side mission because some Heavy Mechs are destroying some crates that have valuable resources in them. Shepard died four times with a rocket to the face and didn't even get to blow up one Mech
.
It's so funny that we seem to run into the same problems in ME2. First steam, now this.
I did almost all side missions now and will do the Reaper IFF mission next. I still have trouble with the stupid crates. At this point I feel like maybe try once more and if I fail I'll just leave it I guess.
Sooo, I'm nearing the final missions on my Insanity run
Boarded the MSV Estevanico today, or well, what was left of it. Recovered the data of the ship and barely made it out alive. What is it with everyone sending me to the most ridiculous death traps?!
After that I had a mech buddy help me shoot through walls and recover some resources. Final little distraction for today was to go help an endangered research station. The sun there created some problems for the shields, but hitting a few switches restored the magnetic shield.
For a bit of quiet in-between I went to see Liara at the Broker Ship. I pried in dossiers on my teammates, watched vids of Udina probably getting aroused by an asari dancer, Udina getting hit by Anderson and my favourite reporter Al-Jilani getting kicked by a volus. Nice!
Had a talk with Feron, got a model version of the Broker Ship and talked to Liara afterwards. She actually made a move on me again. No is still No, Liara. Didn't want to spend "friendly" time with her on the Normandy and left.
Then I took Tali and Miranda with me to investigate this mysterious project Overlord, for which the allmighty TIM asked for assistence. Arrived on Aite and someone called Dr. Archer explained what's going on. Rogue VI again, including virus. And of all things it controls geth. But since we're prepared that doesn't create much of a problem. We took a tram to the dish and antenna to stop the VI from spreading the virus. We made some things go boom and destroyed the dish, almost not seeing the next morning again. Enough with near-death experiences for one day!
Dr. Archer explained that they were trying to communicate with geth by linking a human mind to a VI. It's his brother. That sounds sick already, I don't even wanna know...
But we're here to help, and to actually deal with the main problem at Atlas Station we had to manually override Atlas from two other stations, Vulcan and Prometheus Station.
We first took care of Vulcan Station (Hammerhead is even worse than Mako
), then Prometheus, everything went smooth in there.
Located the Atlas Station afterwards and proceeded, while the rogue VI had incredibly much fun with some of the doors...
Took an elevator down and I accessed a panel, but something went wrong. Somehow this VI got inside me and now I see some kind of Virtual Reality, plus I lost Tali and Miranda. I made my way to an area where I learned more about Dr. Archer and his brother David, and how they first tried to communicate with the geth.
I pressed on and finally met the rogue VI. I overloaded and shot at it a lot, stripping down its shields and armor. When it was over the sight filled me with horror and disgust. David is hooked up to the core and has tubes and wires everywhere. Even his eyes are kept open. Dr. Archer arrived, and while he seems to finally realize what he did to David as well he wants to keep him by his side. No way. I sent David to Grissom Academy for a hopefully better life and punched Dr. Archer in the face.
Edit: Hope you're feeling better soon, Natashina!
