I almost forgot!

Finally got the "Hijack an Atlas" achievement. Sadly, there was nothing left in the room to kill with it T_T

I did another half of the game with that soldier Sheploo. Tomorrow will probably go to Cerberus HQ and Earth and then start an "official" playthrough from level 1 with a femShep. I thought of naming her Riley but then remembered about the captain at Cyone and now have no idea on what to name her. Suggestions? ;) I plan to make her like Noémie Lenoir :)

I'm Commander Shepard...and I'm the poorest man on the Citadel. 212 credits. I can't even play a game of Quasar.

I got to provide moral support for Traynor in knocking down Tsuzsa though.

Few random screens from this weekend (inbetween stopping a 3 week old baby from crying). It really does look good on PC, makes me hopeful for Mass Effect Next.

Spoiler

I just hope they take the character writing rather than the fetch quests from this game.

Linda Shepard

Miranda: Kai Leng? I hate that guy.

me: He sucks as an assassin.

Miranda: Yeah I know. I will watch my back. Thanks for letting me know Shepard.

me: No problem. Lets talk later

me: Zaeed?  I say we throw him out the window.

Zaeed: I knew I liked you Shepard

Korlack: Now wait a min---- its AEPHUS! ITS AEPHUS!

me: And the bombing fleet?

Korlack: Its yours. You weren't really going to throw me out the window, were you?

Zaeed: Does it matter?

Korlack: You both are crazy

me: Thanks for the help Zaeed.

Zaeed: Anytime Shepard

Liara: I looked on the extranet at what skeet shooting is. I like to try that again Shepard.

me: We can do that.

Liara: Thank you Shepard. I will see you back on the ship

Jack: You can't dance Shepard

me: Would you rather I sing?

Jack: You wouldn't dare.

me: Lets have a drink Steve

Cortez: I saw you dancing a moment ago. Really bad

me: You're lucky you're my shuttle pilot.

Cortez: Haha. Thanks for the drink Shepard

Javik: The Citadel is so big

me: What do you think?

Javik: When we defeat the reapers, I will ask the council to make me a councilor

me: Ha. You have my vote.

Javik: Thanks for meeting me here, Commander

Ashley: Thanks for coming Commander.

me: No problem. How's your sister?

Ashley: She's ok. It will take time for her to get past this.

me: Joker? Plot a course for the Quarian homeworld.

Joker: Yes ma'am

me: Any update Traynor

Traynor: Nothing ma'am though there was  a lot of talk about video games. but that was in reference to people meeting at some apartment to play video games.

me: Alright. Keep me posted if you find anything

We went to meet up with the quarian admirals. They have started a war against the geth in an attempt to retake their homeworld. Sure, best timing for this while the Reapers breathe down our necks.

Turned out the geth have turned to the Reapers to avoid being wiped out. So the quarians want our help with disabling the geth dreadnought that broadcasts a Reaper signal.

Tali will join us for this mission, good to see you, old friend! I went in alone first, walking along the ruined docking tube and once inside, I found a way to let in Tali and Kaidan. We made our way through the Operations Center to the drive core, taking care of some geth and dodging shockwaves along the way.

Upon arriving at the drive core I saw Legion hooked to a lot of tubes, so they were using him to broadcast the signal. We helped him out and we were able to finish the mission. The crazy quarians shot at the dreadnought with us still inside, so Legion proposed we use a geth fighter ship to escape. Close call!

After that Kaidan, Javik and I went to a turian Fuel Reactor to help Captain Riley. We took care of the problem when suddenly Reaper forces arrived. We took down some of them, then I sent Javik to help Captain Riley's team. Kaidan and I took down a brute and marauders, yay! We returned to Javik and the others and boarded the Normandy again.

My only Game Over screen today was because I fell down into the toxic area in this mission. Going out in glory. -_-

The adventures never stop, and so I entered the geth consensus not soon after, crazy stuff! I took care of a Reaper infection inside and learned more about the quarian/geth history. It's hard to not feel sympathy for the geth. After getting out of this Virtual Reality we now have Geth Primes to fight on our side, nice.

Next, Kaidan, Tali and I went to rescue Admiral Koris.

On beautiful Rannoch we made our way to disable some AA guns so Steve could destroy the tower that was jamming communication. We were able to reach Koris and he was reluctant to reveal his position at first, but eventually I could persuade him we would need someone like him in the war.

Steve picked us up with the shuttle and we defended Koris by ripping the geth that pursued him to shreds with a turret, while also preventing the geth to shoot down our shuttle. We picked Koris up and got the hell out of there.

Finally finished. I think I'm at peace with Mass Effect.

It was good to stay away from it for awhile...even brought a few tears to my eyes. I say I prefer being mean to Liara, but I actually brought her on that final run. Her and Javik.... they both lost so much to the Reapers. It was fitting.

Other than that, finally got the achievements for Armax high scores and Mirror Matches. It was funny beating Shepard clones with Ash and Jack (two LIs).

Update below

For the first time since 2012, I have started a new play through of the saga.  I've decided to make a unique Shepard experience, which will lock me out of certain side quests.

Name:  "Gramps" Shepard, Infiltrator

Disposition:  Grumpy old fart.  A bit of a renegade, but not psychotic.  Will do what is necessary to get the job done, but will not break the law.  He is a loyal servant of the Alliance and Council, but is not afraid to speak his mind.  He fears AI and VI, but willingly uses technology that is not equipped with AI (He refuses to use Avina).   "Gramps" is anti-social and avoids idle chit-chat.

Mass Effect 1:

- Gramps dealt rudely with a crazy fan, two journalists, and an asari consort.

- Gramps dislikes Krogan, and did not invite Wrex onto the Normandy.

- The mission comes first.  Gramps has no time to chat with his crew, especially the unstable L2 biotic.   However the Asari researcher is attracted to Gramps, and Gramps sees opportunity for R&R.

- Gramps will not kill without cause.  Corporal Toombs was given a chance to surrender, but he had to be put down.

- The Batarian threat has been defeated and Terra Nova was saved.  Gramps captured Balak and rough him up for killing the hostages.  Balak will be turned over to the Alliance for interrogation.

- Administrator Anoleis was found breaking the law (with the help of Lorik Qui'in) and has been arrested.   Also the smuggling operation has been foiled, and the weapons were confiscated by Gramps.

- The Rachni threat has been defeated.  They will never again threaten the galaxy.

- Father Kyle turned himself in.  Gramps bluffed that he would kill all the followers.

- Gramps does not cut deals with criminals.   Helena Blake and her gangsters are dead.

- At Zhu's Hope, Gramps realizes the colonists are innocent and does not allow them to be harmed.  Shiala was allowed to live after she promised to help the colonists rebuild.

- At Virmire:  Gramps loaned the unstable L2 biotic to the STG.  He hopes the STG can whip him into shape.  Unfortunately, Alenko and the STG were defeated while Gramps stayed with the bomb to ensure detonation.

- After Virmire, the citadel council berated Shepard for being destructive.  Gramps told the Turian councilor where to stick it.

- On the way to Ilos, Gramps and Liara enjoyed a little R&R.  Gramps needed the stress relief.

- At Ilos we discovered an ancient VI.  Liara tried to turn it into a research project, but Gramps reminded her that VI are evil and that Saren was was getting away.

Gramps returned to the Citadel, which was under attack.   The council was sacrificed to save the human forces for the final push.

- After Saren's defeat, Udina asked me to choose a new chancellor.  I told him I didn't have time for politics, because the reapers are coming.

Mass Effect 2:

- Gramps wakes up from his long sleep, and is surrounded by Cerberus.  He trusts no one, but is forced into travelling to Freedom's Progress.  Miranda and Jacob are always trying to earn his trust, but Gramps is even grumpier than usual after his nap.

- They discover Tali at Freedom's Progress.  He never trusted Quarians, as they are responsible for the Geth.   He asks Tali to join forces to find Veetor, so that he can keep an eye on the Quarians.

- When we find Veetor (the mad Quarian), Cerberus wanted him for experimentation.  Gramps saved him from Cerberus, and sent him away with Tali.

- Cerberus built a new command ship for Gramps, and equipped with an AI.  Shepard's first priority is to to unplug the abomination and toss Miranda and Jacob out the air lock.   But he needs them.... for now.

OOC:  I'm having a hard time being Renegade in Mass Effect 2.   Because Gramps doesn't trust TIM, his dialog choices have been Paragon.  He's gotten a few renegade points from distrusting Miranda and Jacob, but for now he is significantly more paragon than I planned.

Shepard fought her clone, threw a party for all her friends, promised Liara "every day after" (that's just cruel, Bioware! :crying: ), stole TIM's chair, EDI told her she felt alive because of Shep (thanks for making the end harder on me, EDI), and Shepard finally destroyed the Reapers...at the cost of possibly destroying the geth as well. My final EMS was about 8400, so I think it's safe to say I did just about as much as I could  :P

I gotta say, I wasn't a huge fan of the ending but after not having played SP in a couple years - I think doing the Citadel DLC the first time when it came out was the last time I played  - I think it's actually alright. EC definitely helped, even if I didn't cry this time around.

It's a shame I got all the achievements years ago, it'd give me something to aim for. I'm trying to decide between new game+ and starting a new character now. Any thoughts on good builds? I play on Insanity and just finished a Paragade Sentinel run where I pretty much just had Liara use Singularity on everything and had Shep blow it all up. Fun!

Renegade  John Shepard on insanity...

Shepard went to Omega to tie up some loose ends. He was going to deliver a couple of packages to Ish but the information could be used in other interesting ways. Talked to Anto about the data instead and blackmailed him to giving some credits. Anto was a bit of cheapskate though as he only gave Shepard 2250 credits <_<. Shepard had a conversation with a Patriarch and said that he was a glorified pet/trophy. Patriarch remembered his Krogan instincts by rampaging through a nightclub and he still died.

Turchanka was next, Shepard brought along a Salarian and a Turian to the Krogan homeworld so what could possibly go wrong :P. Wrex was now the Clan Leader and was happy to see Shepard but gave no reaction whatsoever to Garrus . The crew wanted to see the sights of Turchanka and Garrus's highlight was commenting on the guns. Shepard killed some Pyjaks to get a store discount then he bought some meat and gained a Varren follower. The next task was to find a Salarian in a Blood Pack camp. Urz followed to the truck but had no intention of going to battle (so much for loyalty). Shepard encountered his first Klixen and had to fight through a lot of Vorcha. The crew got to the hospital and had the following conversation (paraphrased):

Garrus: Hospitals aren't fun to fight through.

Shepard: What is fun to fight through.

Garrus: Antique stores, only if they are classy. :D

The facility is to research the Genophage and Shepard gave neutral replies about this issue. Had an encounter with the Speaker of Clan Weyrloc but he was soon fired from this position. This renegade interrupt of a gas explosion must've enraged the other Krogan because Shepard got killed through a Krogan shotgun. Deeper in the facility, Shepard found apathetic Krogan and said that he didn't have time to listen. The Krogan attacked and was consequently shot. After this renegade action, Shepard encountered another Krogan with a shotgun and died again -_-. Finally found Maelon and Mordin shot him. Shepard's encounter with the Krogan (with shotguns) has influenced his thinking and told Mordin to destroy the data. After this renegade result, Shepard was going to hack the terminal for extra credits but then it crashed so I had to watch Maelon's death twice -_-.

Shepard finished the day by completing a side-mission on Sanctum which involves deactivating a signal guarded by Blue Suns. Shepard died (a lot)  against two heavy Mechs but eventually the signal was stopped.

Beta weekend is over... *cries*... manage to save Lyris from purgatory and we kick some ass. Too bad, being online means no companion.. T_T At least I could hear FemShep saying "You must be the ugliest princess I've ever rescued from a tower" and the classic renegade....
Spoiler

But I miss having companions and romances... and it made me remember why I hate silent protagonists. okay, enough about TES.

I'm back with Revka's Renegon NG+. Btw, one of the main reason why I love ME3 was the fact that my Shep can use her Black Widow in most of the cutscenes instead of magical assault rifle. They're gorgeous together. Its the kind of gun my Shepard would sleep with and hug like a pillow... I guess that's exactly how she cope in ME2 without lover boy... and that's why someone took away her original Widow
Spoiler

Then we found Samara's daughters and this happened...
Spoiler

and the compulsory Paragon interrupt...
Spoiler

Then we went back to Tuchanka, like the proper Alliance Commando.... we came and slaughter reapers in style.
Spoiler

And she's glorious being a renegade with this mission, "What's wrong with you?! Inspire them! Threaten them! Lieutenant, if Cerberus succeed, the Reaper divide and conquer us and that is on them!" and Victus became legendary....but still....
Spoiler

And Rev and Kaidan had a long discussion about Virmire.
Spoiler

and he reminisce again with Tali.

Check out the ones in my signature :) This is my latest build, the one I'm playing now ;)

RedCaesar has played a Drone Master Engineer, Puppet Master Engineer, Claymore Soldier, Bulletless Soldier, capn233 played a Combat Engineer and both of them played Chargless Novaguards (RedCaesar version, capn233 version)

Also check out the compilation of strategy guides and discussions for ME3 SP by Abraham_UK for even more builds :)

Started the playthrough of a Deadshot Soldier Naomi Shepard (thanks Natashina! :) ). Slept only three hours yesterday so my sniping skills were lacking. Also the usual problem with Priority: Mars - low ammo :D

I'm really, really worried if it is true that ME:N is in Andromeda. Might as well be a new game series if that is the case.

It's good to have 3 days off work this week, means I can make a bit of progress ^_^

Today we entered a Reaper base with a few geth here and there. We needed to destroy the base by using a prototype precision laser that would enable the Normandy to fire where I'm aiming at with that thing. Since there were jamming towers it couldn't be done with a conventional bombardment. On our way to our destination, Kaidan, Tali and I had a lot of fun with hacking, overloading, freezing and shattering, until we encountered 3 Geth Primes. After 3 attempts we moved on, I waggled the targeting laser a bit and the Normandy made the strike. Boom! Too bad we dug out a Reaper. We escaped with Legion's help and I told EDI to sync the quarian fleet with the Normandy's targeting. I will take that thing down!

So I danced with the Reaper a bit to get that precision strike from the whole quarian fleet! Maybe that was a bit stupid and reckless, but hey, it worked (after some 5+ tries or so. It's weird because I didn't have any problem at all with that thing the first time I played. But now I know my strategy ).
The Reaper knew of me, seems I made an impression with Harbinger. Ah, Harby... After that thing died, Legion proposed to upload the Reaper code to the geth in order to gain true intelligence. I wanted to make it work... I told Legion to upload the code and Tali to call off the attack on the quarian side, but they wouldn't budge. I have all the reason to dislike the quarians for their behaviour, starting the war with the geth in the first place back then and also now, in addition to them firing at the geth dreadnought with us still inside! But still... could I let them die?
My gut said no... sorry, Legion. You opened my eyes and made me see Synthetics in a different light, but I can't let you continue with the code. Maybe my own past encounters with geth play a big factor here. Too much can go wrong... and I accepted the fact that I did not fully trust the geth.
Guess that Reaper proved me right. Damn. Legion attacked me and Tali killed him...

I was then called to the Asari Councilor on the Citadel. She had intel about an important artifact on Thessia, one that could help. So Liara, Kaidan and I went there and helped the asari fight their fight, but also requesting to assist us, with a lot of casualties on their side. Once we got to the temple, we looked for the artifact and I found out there's a prothean beacon here. We managed to find it, but before we could get anything in regards the Catalyst, the Illusive Man's lap dog showed up. I screwed up badly. Couldn't win this fight, and now he's off with the data... and Thessia is lost. It's bad.
Back on the Normandy Joker tried to lighten the atmosphere with a joke, but I'm really not in the mood. Liara is angry with Javik about the asari Goddess being prothean and Tali and Garrus discussed who should talk to Liara. I told them I'll talk with her. Also had a real hearty chat with my bro Garrus, and I feel a bit better already.
Then it was time to have some fun with Cerberus! Javik, Kaidan and I went to a Communication Hub to rescue Ms. Sato and to deactivate some consoles. We won!
I saw Kenneth and Gabby were not in their usual place, so I went down the stairs and there's clearly something going on between these two. Happy for them, Gabby had to wait long enough. Then I actually found my beloved Space Hamster! Catching him was a pain, but hey there, buddy, right here in my pocket!

Ok, time to tackle the next task! Follow Kai Leng's trace to Sanctuary. It's eerie inside, noone here apart from a few dead Cerberus guys and Reapers. We soon found out that Miranda is here too, and Sanctuary is not a place for refugees, but something else. Miranda's father was conducting gruesome experiments on the refugees to gain control over the Reapers. It sickens both Kaidan and me to an extent where I just want to kill every goddamn Cerberus fucker in the galaxy. We dealt with a lot of Reaper forces and eventually found Miranda confronting her father, who held Oriana hostage. I intimidated him in releasing Miranda's sis, after which my ex-squadmate killed him off. I hope they can live a happy life once this is all over.

Upon returning to the Normandy, I had gotten a news bit about Kal'Reegar... he sacrificed himself helping on Palaven. He was a good man.

When I went to see Javik we had a really good talk and he showed me a side of him I had never seen before. We talked about how my squadmates mean everything to me and he told me about his past, that he once was in a similar situation, but had lost his entire squad to indoctrination and had to put them down. Heavy stuff. I feel for him.

Tali got drunk because she couldn't cope with the fact that Miranda did something to break away from her father, while Tali did nothing until it was too late. It's gonna be fine, Tali. I hope.

What a day. Better try and get some sleep...

Maaan, I already feel I'm nearing the end, even though I still have to do the last 2 main missions, and I kept Leviathan and Citadel DLC for last. But it's with a heavy heart I continue. I had other games impacting me before, but this is a whole new level -_-

Tali's lines after the Legion thing really hit me. The fact that she considers Legion a friend and that she wants to leave her people behind for now because she cannot accept the fact what it just cost to regain their homeworld... loved it. This was a tough choice and I thought about it 10 minutes! In my first playthrough I could make peace between them, and I thought I could do it again. Guess I made a few bad choices in regards to this, now that I know how it works

me: Why are you like that Legion?

Legion: The other geth bet that I couldn't hold my arms up in the air for a long time

me: What's a long time?

Legion: Forever if needed

me: Whatever. Why did the geth ally with the reapers?

Legion: They offered us a free oil change every 3 000 hours

Tali: What do you mean?

me: I'll explain it later. So you chose an oil change over death?

Legion: Correct

me: Can you shutoff the weapon systems on this ship

Legion: Yes. Just have to free me first

Ashley: Are you sure about this Shepard?

me: If Legion can help, then its worth the risk

Javik: Why did you let the machine on the ship?

me: It said it can help us.

Javik: You should've left it on that ship to rust. And another thing Commander. The edi machine needs to go out the airlock

me: Lets worry about that after we defeat the reapers.

Traynor:  Could the geth know about the device?

me: Good question. I will ask it in a roundabout way when I talk to it later.  I'll let you get back to the CIC since I have a few reports to fill out.

Traynor: Yes ma'am

Gah, that mission! On my very first PT, I naively thought that I could let Legion upload the code and get the quarians to back off. The paragon/renegade persuasion options didn't show up, so I thought they'd show up later. -_- All that happened later is that all the quarians died. *shudder* Never has a game made me feel so miserable! I might repeat it for my BadShep PT, but other than that - never again!

It wasn't until my second PT that I even realised peace really was an option. Now I try to get that every time. And if I can't, the geth die.

It might be strange, but I like that Legion turns on you if you side with the quarians. Legion might develop an attachment to Shep (and Tali), but at the end of the day, they're a synthetic, driven by cold logic, and totally prepared to kill you for survival. It just seems really in-character. It's an interesting contrast to Tali's emotional response too. Ah, game, why must you make me so sad? :(

Did you take the interrupt to shoot Legion? It is much more emotional if you don't take the interrupt.

I did that myself the last time I played.

That's exactly what happened to me too! I thought letting Legion continue uploading the code will then show the persuasion options, I just didn't know that I did something differently this time preventing me from making peace (I found out now that it's because I chose to rewrite the heretics instead of destroying them), so when I saw the quarians taking the hit I first switched off the console. I thought WTH, where's my peace option  I thought for a long time what to do as I was always supportive of Legion, and the quarians didn't show their best side so far, but... ugh. I love that game, it makes me think and question my own choices! I was on the verge of crying, stupid game! I'm not an overly emotional person in real-life, but some games (also movies etc) can really bring that out in me. ME3 is the worst so far. Sigh.

Hmmm, I think I didn't (honestly I don't remember now!), and it got very emotional. But apparently there are a few different versions?

Here the player doesn't take the interrupt and it's rather cruel how Tali is reacting!

I got the one where Legion asks if it has a soul, Tali says yes and mourns him, then later when we both sat down she said that killing off a friend is a high price, or something alone these lines (actually I couldn't find a YT video for this...).

Same. It must due to having them get along in ME2... maybe.

That might be it, I was able to do so in ME2 :)

It's really interesting to see all those even seemingly "tiny" choices make an impact how characters act with each other.
