Hmmm, I think I didn't (honestly I don't remember now!), and it got very emotional. But apparently there are a few different versions?

Here the player doesn't take the interrupt and it's rather cruel how Tali is reacting!

That is not Legion. That is Geth VI.

Oooh, that makes sense. I keep forgetting that you don't necessarily need to activate Legion (I will try to not activate him in my next playthrough).

Geth VI sucks. I wouldn't recommend it.

I guess it works, but it seems a little tacky. Even the alternate rachni queen is better. I don't know why Geth VI is the default, because the quest flows more smoothly with Legion.

Geth VI is awesome! The true face of the geth.

I think I want to try it next time because my next Shep won't trust the machines, so it'd be fitting not to activate it, and I hope I can make a lot of different choices with her. I'm already excited!

Shepard laid to rest the ghosts of his old friend Garrus today. The guy has been strangely subdued and bitter since he came aboard the new Normandy. This is definitely affecting him worse than the Saleon thing, but Shep intends to deal with it the same way: boom, headshot!

Zaeed came along for the ride, because he knows a thing or two about stewing on vengeance. Maybe this will even be like a second dose of catharsis for him? The trio (of which Shepard is now ‘the pretty one’) fought their way through the factory district. Harkin was waiting for them at the end, and was promptly roughed up by Garrus and shot in the leg. Ah, I get second-hand satisfaction so much from that scene! Shep told him “You’re lucky, it’s less than you deserve.” Ha, he’s never even met Harkin before, but the slug makes that much of a bad first impression! I do like femShep’s line though (if she met Harkin in ME1): “You’re lucky, I wouldn’t have shot you in the leg.”

Then it was off to Tuchanka. Reading the planet information in the Krogan DMZ is pretty funny. Especially the planet where krogan apparently get naked and run around just to prove they can without dying. You’re a strange folk. Tuchanka was incredibly heart-warming for one main reason: “SHEPPPPPPPPPERRRR! My friend!” Oh, he’s missed you too, Wrex. Not killing a person can do wonders for your relationship!  ^_^

Grunt got sassed by an old man, but he wasn’t fazed at all. “I am pure krogan. You should be in awe.” That’s right kiddo, flaunt that confidence! No one talks crap about Shep’s chums, so that guy will be getting a smack later.

Shepard kind of likes Tuchanka. It’s got big trucks to ride, varrens to pet, and Wrexs to wax goddamn nostalgic with. Samara does not agree. She took one look at the pit-fighting varrens and said: “One day I will return and instruct the krogan on compassion. I will need many bullets.” Ha, I love you, Samara. You’re an odd one. And I would actually pay to see you battle a horde of krogan.

Shepard headbutted a krogan! Fortunately, his skull didn’t crack in half, due to all those cybernetics Cerberus upgraded him with. Somewhere, Miranda is facepalming in frustration. The shaman loved it though, I think he might make Shepard an honorary krogan.

I’m sure there were more waves in the rite this time.  On the one hand, I like the fact that biotics are projectiles that ‘seek’ their target. On the other hand, they take some weird curves and swerve all over the place sometimes.  :pinched:

Jack came along for the fight, and she loved it. Fighting thresher maws on foot and some flying thing dropping waves of klixen! Then some krogan showed up and she trash-talked them. "Hello, dead people." That Gatatog Uvenk is a real moron. “Ok, Grunt, I’ll deign to let you join my clan, but you can’t mate, own property or be treated like a person in anyway. Basically you’ll just be a weapon we throw at people. Wanna join?” Sometimes, I just love the dialogue.
Shepard: "If I know Grunt, your answer’s coming at muzzle velocity."
Grunt: "You do know Grunt. This varren is dead." *tackles Uvenk*

Now Grunt is all grown up. ^_^ At least legally, in krogan society. The team patted a varren (a real one, not an Uvenk one) and headed back to the ship. Completed a couple of N7 missions. Not my favourite ones, just missions like ‘find the Cerberus operative’. The atmospheric ones, like getting lost in fog, or battling geth and sandstorms, will come later.

And yet the tale of how he survived gets bigger and more dramatic as time goes on. (How long until he tells the story of how he was armed with only a butter knife?)

Oh, I'm totally going to steal that and use it as a joke later on!

Zapp B. Shepard

Spacer/Vanguard/failshep

So it took awhile, but Zapp's squadmates finally dragged him out of Chora's den, only to meet a Krogan and turian and find out... They had to go back to Chora's den.  However, after what Zapp suggested to the dancers last time he visited, they opened fire on sight.  Zapp and crew blasted through them and found out there was a quarian in need of saving.  Zapp got there just in time and Udina suggested that this Tali girl join the crew after getting her proof on Saren.

Naturally, Zapp took all the credit for finding the proof.  The council bought it hook line and sinker and decided to promote Zapp to a Spectre.  The coronation took an awkward turn when Zapp asked when he got to meet Number 1 and get his secret volcano lair.  They informed him that SPECTRE meant SPECial Tactics and REconnaisance, and only occasionally involved SPecial Executives, Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion.  Disappointed, Zapp almost missed Admiral Kohoku asking for help.  However, Zapp told Kohoku that unless he could point him in the direction of a rogue organization led by an enigmatic and eccentric leader with lots of crazy schemes for world domination looking to hire, he was not interested.

Renegade  John Shepard on insanity...

Started with a side-mission blitz to complete any outstanding issues. The first was to prevent a missile attack and Shepard ended up saving the Spaceport. The focus then shifted to the mercenary bands in order to stop their activities. A Blood Pack base was destroyed, a relay was cleared and some Eclipse mercs were dealt with. Shepard also investigated an abandoned mine full of husks to deactivate an indoctrination device. All these side-missions were done without Shepard dying so I thought I was on a roll ^_^. However, the next side-mission wasn't as simple and involved numerous attempts (a lot, spent most of my time on this today). Shepard needed to help a Quarian who crashed her ship and was being attacked by Varren. The main problem was the Varren were focused more on the Quarian than Shepard's crew. Shepard brought a non-loyal Samara and Jack and they weren't being effective against the Varren armour. Shepard did think about leaving the Quarian to her fate but he eventually rescued her.

All the side-missions are done, so next up was the IFF and Shepard needed to go inside a Reaper to recover it. Shepard progressed through the Reaper and there was sniper fire. I noticed (for the first time) Legion on the upper ledge above the 'altar' walking towards the right. I was using an assault rifle to focus on it so a sniper rifle would have given a better view. Shepard encountered this Geth in the next room and it could talk. Shepard had to fight more husks (which involved a lot of retreating/manoeuvring) and recovered the IFF and the Geth. Shepard didn't trust the Geth so just gave the unit to Cerberus and got the bounty money. EDI is in the process of installing the IFF.

The only team member remaining to be recruited was Tali so it was off to Haestrom. The team was Jack and Garrus and Jack didn't wear the most appropriate attire when the nearby sun is frying everything in sight. Jack must have had a very strong sun block but it is unlikely because she did say "Get the hell out of the sun!". Tali needed rescuing (again, just like two years ago with Fist) from Geth and a Colossus. Shepard managed to blow up the Colossus and Reager died by giving assistance. Shepard recruited Tali and she didn't even acknowledge Garrus . Tali got settled on the Normandy and already has a favour to ask. Talk about taking advantage, it's only been a few seconds since you've been on the Normandy! The next stop tomorrow will be the Migrant Fleet.

That I know of. Every time I didn't activate the geth in ME2, I never had Shepard say I remember you to the geth vi when seeing it on the dreadnought, but when I send/sell the geth to Cerberus, Shepard has that line

Today I went to see what Dr. Bryson was up to. I met him in his lab and he told me he's investigating Reaper myths, but before we could get anywhere, his assistent killed him. He tried to shoot me too, but I prevented it and now he acts like he didn't do anything. He was taken away and together with EDI I found out where Brysons research led him. Something called Leviathan, and we needed to find Dr. Garneau for his knowledge about that. But not before I played a bit with the husk head.

Kaidan, Liara and I arrived at a mining facility and everyone acted very weird. We ignored the strange workers and found Garneau eventually. Or we thought we did. He was some sort of impostor, and blew up an artifact and himself while being overrun by Reaper forces. We found the real Garneau dead, but thankfully the workers returned to normal. They think they're 10 years in the past though, oops. Something has been controlling them allright.

Back on the Normandy I overheard Tali and Garrus clumsily flirting with each other. Everyone's hooking up these days, go for it kiddos.

I returned to Dr. Bryson's lab and our next task was to find his daughter Ann. We miraculously got her out of the Reaper-infested dig site and returned to the lab. Ann helped us getting closer to find Leviathan by letting it control her via the artifact in the lab. We could pinpoint its location and Steve flew Kaidan, Liara and me out to sea. We were hit by some pulse though and crashlanded. Fought off Reaper forces while defending our shuttle, then Steve flew away just to be hit by the pulse again. We defended him some more, and then I had to restore the power to get my hands on a cool mech for my underwater mission. Can't say I was too thrilled, who knows what's down there, but I needed to do it or else we're stranded here with that damn pulse preventing us from leaving.

I dove down and it's beautiful, and very... well, deep. I followed the probe and a giant Reaper-looking thing ascends right in front of me. We actually had a conversation and I learned more about the Leviathans' background. I was able to win their support in the war and got back to the surface. I could barely walk and Kaidan helped me back to the shuttle. Sorry I had you worried. We could finally leave and after all that action I'm taking some time off to check out Anderson's apartment. He wants me to have it and I said I couldn't possibly accept this, but he insisted. I explored the huge place and found various pieces of Anderson's biography. I checked out the private terminal and Joker had invited me to Sushi. I don't even like Sushi, but heck, a nice, quiet evening with my pilot sounds very good right now.

Haaa, I love the deep dive, it's got such a great atmosphere and since I'm a big fan of the deep sea anyway this is really great.

Something weird happened in the DLC though. After killing all enemies in the Triton it autosaved while I got Game Over when I didn't even die. At some point I found out I had lost all my medi-gel and all the money I possess now after completing the mission is only what I've collected during the DLC. Not that I really need it, but it's definitely annoying. -_-

Has anyone ever done a female only or male only trilogy run where you kill off all the characters who are the opposite gender of your Shepard?

I know someone made a thread about it back in the ME2 days but that was long ago.

It was this thread: Mass Effect 2's Suicide Mission Guide - *Everything* about the final mission.

For the specific post, click here. NOTE: The links in that post may or may not work. The post was written before the switch to the new forums, and the old links may not redirect properly to the new links. I tried a few and they did not redirect properly. Given time I could probably find the correct links to the information you want.

If you play around with the Suicide Mission parameters, you can probably figure out a way to get the result you want.

In preparation for starting a Flare Infiltrator (I decided to import ME2 Engineer Dhalia Shepard into ME3 as a Flare Infiltrator), I played around with an existing Infiltrator to try a few things.

I had seen some posts by players who advocated Flare with radius, so I tested out the Infiltrator with a max-damage Flare, and then a max-radius Flare. And I got to say.... those players must be playing on Normal because max-radius Flare sucks. There may have been one or two instances where a max-radius Flare was more useful than a max-damage Flare, but there were also more than a few instances where a max-damage Flare was better than a max-radius Flare. Most of the time, there was no noticeable difference.

I even picked a mid-radius Flare, and the result was essentially the same. Flare works best with max damage.

I recorded some video for it, but I am not going to post it. I was going to watch it later and review it to visually compare max-damage Flare versus max-radius Flare, if they performed somewhat equal, but I feel that max damage was better.

I also fooled around with a Flare Soldier. Not nearly as good as a Flare Infiltrator, but maybe that was due to a sub-optimal weapon for the loadout. Maybe if I played around with different weapons I could find one I like on that build.

I can't say I know much about it, except from using Aria. I go for damage with her. Still effective (on insanity).

On a sidenote, last time I played, I looked at her health... She's built like a Krogan. Had more than my soldier, if I recall.

Cheers man, the links worked. It's really interesting to learn just how easy it is to kill off specific people even if you've done all the loyalty missions.

Has anyone ever done a female only or male only trilogy run where you kill off all the characters who are the opposite gender of your Shepard?

I know someone made a thread about it back in the ME2 days but that was long ago.

I'm actually thinking of incorporating something like this into my current failshep run.  Since I'm playing a character modeled after Zapp Brannigan, I think it would be his style to kill off the competition, and since I need at least a couple survivors in order to make it to ME3, might as well be the women Zapp hopelessly wants to bang.  However, I am thinking of swapping Tali for Thane, if only because of the Kif jokes to be had and because I've never played Rannoch without Tali before.

Zapp B. Shepard

Vanguard/Space/Failshep

So the beauty of a failshep run is that in many ways it is akin to a speed-run.  I think I'm going to finish this ME1 game in about a quarter of the time it usually takes, and the rapidly obsolete weapons I'm picking up adds a bit of fun to the difficulty.  But anyways back to the Zapp.

Zapp decided to first investigate Matriarch Cleavage's daughter.  Turns out she is trapped, but Zapp gets distracted by the giant laser.  He figures if he can't join the cool SPECTRE and get a volcano lair, he will at least grab a giant laser to torture any British secret agents he might cross.  As luck would have it, the laser opened up the path to the Asari and Shep proceeded to free the young and attractive centenarian.  Not in the mood to foot the bill for a long distance call, he hangs up on the council.

After that, it was off to Noveria.  All the corporate wheeling and dealing was too much for Zapp, but he eventually but he eventually managed to stumble upon an internal affairs agent whom he gave evidence to.  However, before the arrest, Zapp went in to talk with Anoleis one last time to see if there was anything he missed.

Zapp: "Hey administrator, you got anything useful left to say?"

Anoleis: "no, why?"

Zapp:  "Well that Prasini person is going to come in here and arrest you in a couple minutes and I just wanted to see if there were any sidequests I could do for you before you're taken away.....  Oh, wait, I wasn't supposed to say that, uh just ignore everything I just said".

With both Parasini and Anoleis dead, Zapp ruffled through their pockets looking for loose change and found a garage pass instead.  Peak 15 was simple enough, lots of dead buggers later Zapp makes it to the hot labs and confronts Benezia.  She dies and now the fate of the Rachni is in Zapp's incapable hands.  The Queen makes some good points so Zapp decides to free her, unfortunately, Zapp is illiterate and pushs the wrong button on the console.  As the vat fills with acid, Zapp assures Wrex and Liara he meant to do that.

Later on the Normandy...

Turian Councilor: "Do you enjoy committing genocide Shepard?"

Zapp: "Is this a trick question?... uhhhh... yes? I'm going to go with yes!" *hangs up*

Not sure why would anyone want a max radius Flare. Damn thing has 6m radius even when specced purely for damage! I find the radius evolutions underwhelming.

As for Infiltrator vs Soldier, I found the latter easier to control, since enemies have harder time dodging the projectile in slow motion. IIRC you went with Cryo Ammo Scorpion to avoid that issue, yes? I finished the game with a Flare Soldier (did not record it though) and it proved quite viable.

Take Javik, his Dark Channel is a great power to detonate :) Liara is too OP :D
