I would recommend not recruiting Garrus until after Virmire. You have to recruit either Wrex or Garrus, but you don't have to get both right away and it would make sense to distrust the Turian more than the Krogan since humans went to war with the Turians. Do Virmire 3rd and only have humans on your team until then. On Virmire Shepard is forced to use aliens. At that point Shepard can start to be more open about aliens and you can then go back and get Garrus at C-Sec. To avoid recruiting Garrus don't go talk to Harkin. Just go talk to Barla Von, pick up Wrex at C-Sec, then go to Cora's Den.

At some point, for the story to make sense, Shepard will have to become less suspicious of aliens. By the time you get to ME2 the story simply does not lend itself to having an anti-alien Shepard, so you have to make it so Shepard changes her mind. Virmire is the place to do that.

In the end I have now recruited both Garrus and Wrex becaaaaause... well, Kaidan asks right away after we leave the Council to go find Garrus as he seems to be directly investigating Saren. Made sense to me, so I followed this lead, but ignored Wrex at first. However, as he approached me anyway when I returned to the Normandy I allowed him to board after he asked twice to join me ;)

Yeah, I guess I will rather soon be less suspicious of aliens. The crew helps with that quite well (and to be honest, the lines that were given to all alien crew members, no matter if you pick the mean answers, are already enough to see they're very earnest in their reasons to join, makes it harder to hate on them imo )

I already loved some things though, like asking Tali if she's spying on the ship or telling Adams I didn't even want Tali on the ship and that Udina made me do it.

What disappointed me a bit was Pressly's talk. There was no answer to tell him we side with him about the aliens as far as I could tell, that was a wasted opportunity. I just left the chat out for now, if it's still available later when I like the alien crew a bit more it would make more sense.

Recruit Wrex. Don't recruit Garrus.

Recruit Liara before Virmire

Do the geth missions and don't give the data to Tali. Haha

Kill Wrex on Virmire or let Ashley kill him. Excellent

Already recruited Garrus for reasons above, tehe. It just flows better in the story imo. I'm getting Liara right now (after exposing Saren). Good idea about not giving the data to Tali, will do that :) And I also had planned to let Ash kill Wrex on Virmire, so yes!

Sooo, but let's see how it went...

Captain Anderson tasked me to go to Eden Prime with Alenko and Jenkins to recover a Prothean beacon. A turian named Nihlus is to accompany us and evaluate if I'm good Spectre material. I expressed my doubts to Anderson about trusting the turian, but Anderson is very clear about working with him. Yes, sir!

Eden Prime was a mess. Jenkins was shot right at the beginning, and further along the way we met soldier Ashley Williams and helped her shoot some geth. We investigated a dig site, found some humans on spikes that came back to life, saw a giant ship depart from the planet and we talked to a worker who claimed that Nihlus had been shot by another turian. We found Nihlus' body and took a train to get to the beacon. Alenko got too close so I hurled him out of the way, but it was already too late and I had a vision, then blacked out. Woke up in the Normandy's Med Bay, talked to Dr. Chakwas, Alenko and Williams, then we were on our way to the Citadel Council.

Together with Ambassador Udina we incriminated Saren, but the Council refused to believe it. Alenko suggested to look for a turian named Garrus, who was arguing with his C-Sec superior about Saren when we first entered the tower. Anderson also told us it might pay out to go to Barla Von, but since that turian is already investigating I thought it best to check out what he knows. We talked to Harkin, a nasty C-Sec officer whom I put right into his place. We were directed to the Med Clinic to find Garrus. When we arrived, the doctor was threatened by some thugs and we helped taking them out. We learned that a quarian came by the Med Clinic and had some evidence we could maybe use. The trail led to Fist. The turian was very eager to help take Saren down and wants to come with. I told him No, but he claimed that he's not like Saren and I can see he really wants to prove that Saren is a traitor. I gave in and reluctantly agreed to his plea, but also let him know I don't trust him and will keep my eye on him. Can't be too careful. The turian mentions a krogan who was also sent after Fist, but we'll take care of this problem alone.
Alenko, Williams and I roughed up Fist in Chora's Den and after we got the info we needed we left Fist behind and rescued the quarian. In Udina's office we checked out the evidence, and when the quarian wants to join our cause I tell her she's not up to it. However Udina kind of has the last word in it and makes me accept her help. We are off to meet the Council again to present the evidence. They couldn't ignore it this time. This is all bigger than we thought.

I was made a Spectre and I'm supposed to meet Udina and Anderson at the Docking Bay. On my way I was approached by a krogan. He claimed it was his job to take out Fist, but is impressed with what I did, so he transferred his money into my account. Uh...ok. Definitely weird, but also a surprising move. Turned out the krogan also wants to join my crew but I told him he'd only be trouble. He claimed he doesn't cause problems, he solves them, so on a second thought... Krogan are supposed to be tough fighters, aren't they? That might come in handy given what we face, if only being cannon fodder.

After meeting Udina and Anderson I have 3 new leads and I'm left in charge of commanding the Normandy. I talked to the human crew before having cautious chats with the aliens.

I decide Alenko, Williams and I go to Therum first to find Dr. T'Soni, who is the daughter of Matriarch Benezia from the quarian's evidence. Let's see what she knows.

Just doing a NG+ with my least favorite character just for explring in dialogues. Learned that Aria is in a conflict with my decisions in the Omega DLC and basically told her straighten up, otherwise your "I am 1,000 yr old" tactics is not good enough (if this PC survives or not , just saying Omega needs a little bit of order [Remember Nyreen]).

Today Tyson, hung out with Jack in the Armax Arsenal Arena, helped Zaeed beat a kid's game, and listened to Liara play the piano, then he secured the fuel reactor on Cyone for the war effort.

I spent more time over the last 36 hours in ME Gibbed working on my alt Shep than I should have.  I used the same face for all three games (sliders for the first ME1 and a headcode for ME2.)  For my ME3 tweaking,  here's the details in the first set of spoiler tags.

Spoiler

For those that just want to look at pretty pictures and don't care to read all those details, this is a few screenshots that show the results.  I first grabbed the Olivia head morph from Faces of Gaming that's on the ME3 section to start with (the uploader had the ME2 headmorph and a text document for ME1 sliders for Olivia if you search for it.)  Sort by rating and it's on page one. Then I changed the coloring up and made the lips/eyeliner darker.  If the eyes look a little different between the first screenshot and the second, it's because I found some tips that fix most of the eye clipping.

Before my bigger tweaks:

During the process:

After my tweaking was done:

Oh, and I do plan on doing the same with Valena as well.  She just hit Sanctum, and I usually do Citadel right after.  She'll have a nice makeover in time for her and Garrus' tango.   ;)

Stay tuned next week, where I'll be doing several posts of Val in a row with a mega update!

Arman Shepard looked up at the dark turbulent skies of Feros and asked aloud how could he stop Saren if the fate of the galaxy rested upon a crummy 8 year old laptop.  Then the clouds parted ways and the face of Peter Moore appeared.  "Origin has heard your cries and we provide Cloud Save services!"

Equipped with a borrowed PC, Arman Shepard resumed his journeys in Feros, sparing the asari who gave him the cipher while the Thorian perishing.  He relished greatly the chance of bullying the Exogeni employee, Jeong and also didn't hesitate to give a piece of his mind to everyone who was there, whether they asked it or not.  The Citadel Council was not pleased by Shepard cutting them off after releasing the Rachni.  Arman reminded them not to ****** him off, but poor ol' Turian councilor didn't listen.  Looks like the transmission signal was lost again.  Oops.

Next stop was Virmire.  Arman caught wind of the Krogan baby factory and Wrex got sentimental about it.  Wrex trusted Arman however and decided to back down.  Kaidan noticed that all the crew had new gear except him, still stuck in that Onyx I armor.  Shepard never gave him a straight answer, but turns out, he didn't have to.  Kaidan died in Virmire.  Captain Kirrahe survived so he can recite more cheesy holding lines speeches.

Spoiler

Arman went back to Citadel space and the Normandy was then impounded.  Anderson decided to let his fists do the talking and KO'd Udina.  Ashley, meanwhile, was starting to get the hots for Shepard.  Soon, the rogue squad were off to Ilos to face Saren and Sovereign.  After a whole lot of random acts of violence, Shepard reached Saren in the Citadel council chambers and talked Saren into shooting himself.  Sovereign meanwhile was busy trying to look like a geth ship to make the council deny Reaper existence for 2 more games.

Spoiler

Normandy shot Sovereign dead.  Shepard shot Saren dead.  Anderson becomes Councilor and ending credits roll!

Except, Shepard woke up in Cerberus Lab and met Jacob Taylor and Miranda Lawson... but that is another story.

Played a bit more of my ME3 Combat Engineer Shepard.

Jack Shepard dropped in on Thessia and found the Reapers had started a party without him. Being the vengeful type -- and more than a little psychotic -- he started shooting the uglies. Then some loser human name Kai Leng took a hissy fit, yelled a bit, then took his gunship and went home.

Curiosity finally got the better of Jack, and he traveled to Sanctuary. Everyone had been talking about it, and not wanting to be left out he stopped by to see what it was like. It did not look that great, it turns out. The Reapers and Cerberus had messed the place up. So with Miranda's help, he kicked the big party pooper Henry Lawson out of the building... or at least out of a second-story window.

And then I loaded up an old Infiltrator save, and did this for fun, because "overpowered":

I bought that first comic compilation (the one with Redemption, Homeworlds, etc). That damn thing is huge... Looking forward to Vol 2 with Foundation.

I ordered that just last week and hope it arrives soon :) That reminds me I should also order the rest of the novels. Did anyone here read Deception? Is it really as bad as I've heard?

Continued with Hannah today:

Therum was a bit of a disappointment after all. We got to Dr. T'Soni and helped her out of a trap, but then a krogan and geth showed up. I knew they wouldn't just let us go... so we fought them (I swear this is the single one fight in the whole Trilogy that makes we want to bite in my controller  I should educate myself and watch videos on how to make this fight easy). The asari was taken on board the Normandy, but she couldn't help us in regards to her mother. So we're stuck with another alien.

Well, since they are all here now I'll check them out a bit more. I need to work with them anyway so I better prepare myself and see what makes them tick.

To be honest that Liara girl didn't actually seem so bad, she has quite a naive and innocent appearance. I asked about her mother's motives to help Saren and asked about asari culture, which ultimately led to their mating ritual, and before I know it I ask her to tell me more about herself. However when she let slip she finds me fascinating because of the Prothean beacon, I told her I'm not some lab object for her to study. She apologizes but I left.

I went over to Alenko and he complained about the Council. I agreed with him and then we talked about his past at Jump Zero, and about a girl he liked. Think I let my guard down though when I told him I'd like to get to know him better. I need to be careful.

Had a chat with Williams and she expressed concerns about the aliens. I'm with her, but I also told her we have clear orders on that and we need to work with them. We switched to talking about her past and talked a bit about family. Bit of a bad topic for me.

Wrex seems to keep to himself so I didn't even bother talking to him. I asked Vakarian about why he joined C-Sec and he said it was to make a difference. He seems like a decent enough guy, for a turian I mean.
Our quarian seems homesick. Well, she's gotta learn to cope.

Then I checked out the Citadel a bit more. Met reporter Al-Jilani and granted her an interview with all "that's classified" answers (first time I didn't punch her ^_^). I helped Dr. Michel again, helped Jenna, Michael and Rebekah, gave Emily Wong the OSD I got from Fist's office, met a guy named Conrad Verner, convinced Mr. Bhatia that studying his wife's wounds can help save lives, and tracked a signal to a rogue AI along the way.

When I returned to the Normandy I met up with Lieutenant Girard. I'm to help a girl from the colony I came from, same raid. Her name is Talitha. Talking to her is tough, I know just what it's like to lose everything, but she's got it even worse, having been enslaved by these scumbags. I was able to gain her trust and sedate her. Hope she's better soon.

Ugh, Talitha's assignment is so depressing, her voice actress does a great job there.

On a happier note I had the elevator scene today where the Elcor Hamlet movie from ME3 is mentioned :D

I've succumbed and started another playthrough. Made it past the heartbreaking tragedy that is Jenkins' death, spoken to a mad man and scared some farmers into giving me weapons. Spent some time in the med room on the way to the citadel. Ashley kept giving me funny looks. Giggity. Kaidan was as indifferent as ever. Thanks. It's a good thing I'm not scoring you both on the off chance there's some sort of mission that requires saving one of you or anything...(Shep approves Ashley +5. Shep Disapproves Kaidan -5).

Been informed by Mr. Udina that I screwed up the last mission. What an outrage. Played detective since nearly all the real detectives are too busy doing non detectivey things. Got lost on the Citadel and made friends with the only detective doing his job. Spoke to a shady volus, had an unnerving encounter with an angry krogan and found my way to a gentleman named Fist. My new angry krogan friend has made a mess of this gentleman and I then found my way to a nice lady who just happened to have all the  evidence and curves that I need. I have now succeeded in getting Saren fired and ruined his Spectre career, stole his job and made some new friends. The day is starting to look up.

In memory of the loyal and eager Corporal Richard L. Jenkins. A credit to his uniform, taken from us all too soon. Rest in Peace.  Spectre Nihlus Kryik. A man of few words but an inspirational leader. Cruelly stabbed (or rather shot) in the back bringing his untimely death. Rest in Peace.

And Fist.

It's the only one I haven't read.... mostly because everyone else tells me not to.

So I'll just pass on the advice. :D

One new thing I just noticed about the comic is there is a commentary at the bottom of every page (from artists/writers). I've already read some of these, so this adds something new. One interesting note was Mac Walters developing most of the drelll lore... and wrote most of Thane (as well as Feron). I always thought that was Chris L'Etoile.

I would've liked Liara a lot more if she was like the Redemption comic (just got done reading it again). She's pretty badass... and more expressive and passionate. Funny that one of the commentary notes is that Feron and her could be a cool couple. They don't really get into this in the games... but I think it would have been cool to hear more about, if she wasn't romanced. Feron would have been a nice addition to ME3, period. I would've liked to see more of his tricky/hustler side.

Today we landed on Noveria. Right away I learned from Gianna Parasini that Matriarch Benezia passed through as well. I decided to take the asari with us, Williams and I can handle her should she try anything. But it may be an advantage for us to take her to her mother.

Parasini told us to see Administrator Anoleis. But before that we met a big stupid jellyfish merchant. It asked me to do some smuggling, and I agreed, only to take the package to Anoleis. He was grateful and got me a pass to leave Port Hanshan. However we checked out the hotel first and there was an asari there who wanted my help. I listened to what she had to say and agreed to illegally wire-tap a guy named Rafael Vargas. Sure, sure, I'll do it, just to tell him that you sent me.

There's also a turian here who claimed to have evidence that Anoleis is corrupt. Of course we investigated, had to kill a few of his illegally hired security guards, but it was legit information on the turian's side. We were approached by Parasini who is with Internal Affairs and wants the turian to testify against Anoleis. I persuaded him to do it and witnessed Anoleis being taken out of his office.

With this out of the way we proceeded to Peak 15. We encountered a weird toxin-spitting alien species, and they're everywhere! As well as the geth.

We made the tram operable again and eventually arrived at Rift Station. We met Captain Ventralis. He told us more about the situation when these alien things attacked. We helped take them down and then we were on our way to the Med Bay.

I enjoy playing this quite a lot. So far I did these assignments by getting my hands dirty, but little Hannah here doesn't like corruption and it's just fun to see her frame various people.

Also, I can't believe how stupid I am. My 3rd ME1 playthrough and only NOW I discover the Mako has a cannon... -_-
