I knoooow, I feel so dumb :D I would still not have known it if I hadn't watched a video of Therum on Insanity today (krogan studies ^_^) and seen the guy make some sweet damage. It gets so much easier and faster, haha!

Just wait till you get to Immunity-using mercs :D

Welcome back!  I'm going to start things off with a fairly short update.

Last time, we were at Eden's Prime, ready to try to get the Prothean popsicle unthawed.

I get the nicest screenshots with such ease when it comes to these flashbacks.

Spoiler

"Take no prisoners.  Take no sh*t."

Spoiler

I can't imagine what he's thinking right now.  I'm not sure I'd ever want to relate to that.

Spoiler

The protheans didn't lack for confidence.

Spoiler

Not shown: The systematic removal of every Cerberus troop in the area.  "If anyone needs fresh clips or a bathroom break, now's the time."  I loved that line.  Borders on breaking the fourth wall.   :P

I think he's going to be in for quite a shock.

Spoiler

"You sure about that, Liara?"

Spoiler

I keep hearing that cryogenic stasis take a bit to recover from, but he needed as much time as Jack did.  That is, barely about 30 seconds to wake up.

Spoiler

A moment for the fallen.

Spoiler

Yeah, well, get used to it Prothy.

Spoiler

Next time: We learn more about the long lost alien!  Liara watches her pedestal for the Protheans crumble further!

Not quite Mass Effect, but I'm watching a documentary on Grissom and Shepard.. and Ham the chimp.

Just started ME2 insanity today (still hadn't unlocked the achievement). I almost got Garrus killed.... even before the rocket to the face. Saved him right in the nick of time, against Garm. Never heard his lines before when this happens.. called them tough bastards.

Much like my ME1 runthrough, playing Zapp as a failshep has really cut down on the amount of time it takes me to progress through the game and I have already gotten past Horizon.  Which works out as I kinda want to rush through ME2 and get straight to ME3 to see what changes when everyone is dead.  Speaking of which, today I went through the Suicide mission chart and plotted my team's demise.  I decided that Thane and Morinth are to be the designated survivors.  Thane because he is already dying and (IIRC) if I don't talk to him in ME3, he dies offscreen without saving the councilor and Morinth for obvious reasons.  I never realized how hard it is to pick and choose survivors on the SM.

Last night Tyson busted the scoreboard at the Armax Arsenal Arena.  And unlike Williams, Alenko doesn't keep dying in the Arena.  Tyson also went to Thessia where Javik trolled, Kai Leng annoyed, and Liara cried.  Then Tyson came back to the citadel watched a movie with Tali, beat James's pullup record, taunted Traynor's asari rival, and started investigating Leviathan.

Yeah, not one of my favorites, but Alenko is a tank.

In my opinon he is just the better VS in ME 3 period.  He is more useful in combat than Ash (there is nothing she can do that James and Garrus don't already have covered) and he gets better content outside of combat.  Funny thing is I liked her more back in the ME 1 days.

She was cool back then (even if just to push people's buttons), but yeah... I agree.

There is some cut ME3 content for her though... not sure why they did that.

It seems that it was pulled from youtube. If I recall, it was one of her religious/spiritual musings, and asking Shepard about being "dead".

Renegade  John Shepard on insanity...

Shepard experienced the aftermath of the Suicide Mission on the Normandy and the mood was sombre. Firstly the Normandy had a lot more space as a result of the crew deaths and secondly no-one was too thrilled about the Collector Base being saved.

Went to Illium to help Liara with her Shadow Broker problem. Liara wanted Shepard to hack some terminals to get some data about the Shadow Broker. Little do she know that Shepard already has useful information through Cerberus Intel . Shepard decided to play along anyway and needed to find the identity of an 'observer'. He played the devil's advocate by suggesting Liara should kill the Vorcha. Returned to Liara and she is disappointed that the observer got away. Shepard decided to cheer her up with his information on the Shadow Broker. Liara went to her apartment and Nyxeris mysteriously vanished as well.

At Liara's apartment, there was no Liara and it was a crime scene involving a Spectre. Shepard turned private eye for the next few minutes as he was snooping around Liara's apartment looking for clues. Liara was found at the trade centre and Vasir was uncovered as a rogue Spectre. Shepard did admire Vasir's ruthless attitude but knew it would come to a Spectre vs Spectre showdown. The pursuit of Vasir involved a sky car chase around Illium. Liara told Shepard that Vasir dropped some proximity charges while he was driving onto one. Shepard replied "I NOTICED!!!" a few seconds after the proximity mine exploded . The Shadow Broker sent agents to try and impede the pursuit and they do love their flash bang grenades. Shepard managed to catch up to Vasir but she grabbed a hostage. The renegade meter was maxed out but the renegade dialogue option remained grey <_<. Shepard, therefore had to shoot the hostage and the final confrontation began. It was a tough fight and Shepard survived without dying.

Liara and Shepard went to the Shadow Broker base/ship and was fighting in stormy conditions against more enemies. These fights went smoothly because of the lightning rod towers and biotics. Shepard just used biotic throw to make the enemies fly overboard or make them fly so high that they got struck by lightning. Feron was found and in the process of being electrocuted. Shepard thought that this was the best time to talk to him while he is getting frazzled :pinched:. Encountered the Shadow Broker and Garrus got KOed. Shepard had to rely on fisticuffs as the guns weren't working so well. The Shadow Broker was defeated and Shepard gained the Shadow Broker Intel as a resource against the Reapers. Liara asked if she could come onboard the Normandy but this was refused. Shepard told her to remain professional.

Next stop will be Agent Kenson.

(This is still probably my favourite DLC out of the trilogy because of the story, environment and the dialogue)

I would say that depends on your class. I like Kaidan mostly for his area Reave. (6.5 second cool down I believe? Maybe 7.5, but not too bad in either case.) which is a great primer for a Biotic Shepard. I prefer Ashley for my Engineer, and probably for an Infiltrator because of Concussive Shot as a detonator (6.25 second cool down) and Inferno Grenades. I really, really like Inferno Grenades, but would prefer to have them on a squadie rather than Shepard. My current Shepard (Tristan - Engineer) has been running a Garrus/Ash combo most of the time.

And James's Carnage takes forever to cool down, his grenades are crap compared to Ashley's. I generally don't take James anywhere except when I am interested in some dialogue.

I like inferno grenades on a Vanguard. But having Ash doesn't hurt either.

I like Kaidan, but no, he's nowhere near as useful as Ash in combat. Ash, along Liara, is one of the most powerful squadmates in ME3 due to the combo system. Having these two in your team will make the game ridiculously easy, because they can set up and detonate their own combos, essentially making them, to use a phrase RedCaesar97 coined, Shepard replacements.

The problem with Kaidan is that his power cooldowns are way too slow and he has too much overlap with other squadmates, making him very easily replaceable, whilst Ash, due to her unique position as being both Queen of the tech combos(shes sets up and detonates her own fire explosions and tech bursts) and her being the highest weapon damage dealer in the game along with Garrus, will need you to take both James AND Garrus to get anywhere near replacing her. She really is that much better than Kaidan, it's not even a fair comparison to be honest.

On the content I mostly agree due to Kaidan's better Citadel DLC stuff and he has more interactions with the crew, but Ash wasn't the only one who seemed to lack some extra content, the rest of the squadmates did too. The problem is that in the first half of ME3, you were talking on a regular basis with the squad, the VS in the hospital and James, EDI, Liara and Garrus on the Normandy, but after the Citadel Coup, damn near everyone went mute, with your conversations with them turning from proper ones with dialogue wheels, to ME2 Zaeed like conversations. Hell, even Liara shut up, only speaking up to make her presence known during Thessia before promptly shutting up again until you next see her on Earth.

Proper conversations with your squad were ridiculously frontloaded in Mass Effect 3, so front loaded that you can easily forget that some squadmates even exist after the Coup lol. I forgot Liara existed until she came up to my Shepard and said she wanted to go on the Thessia mission, it was like meeting someone I hadn't seen in years. "Liara, is that you? Where the hell have you been?" lol.

I forget Ash's usefulness, since I only play Soldiers and Vanguards. I cover the same bases in one (but better), and downright godly in the other.

I'm trying to start a male Shepard run for the intention of romancing Jack but I'm finding it hard to do. I'm so used to hearing and seeing Shepard as a woman that it really is quite off-putting hearing many of the same lines coming out of the mouth of a man.

Welcome back!  We'll start things off with a NPC I love but found annoying in ME1

If only someone other than you and Anderson actually listened to Shep.

Spoiler

I honestly can't blame the Normandy crew for being cautious.  I would be too.

Spoiler

I think Prothy is having a bad day.

Spoiler

I love how he acts like Shep could have done anything with that stubborn Council.

Spoiler

I'd get tired of being called "human" too.  Shep earned that title.

Spoiler

Some advanced race you were.  Your scientists didn't think of adding some non-physiological based information.  A bit shortsided there.

Spoiler

"You're lucky we figured out that much.  A giant plant was involved.  Don't ask."

Spoiler

Uh oh...

Spoiler

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Spoiler

So much for the great wisdom of the Protheans.

Spoiler

Stay tuned for part 2!

Part 2!

Just wait until we get to Rannoch.

Spoiler

I heard once that a fan nickname for this guy was "Trolly the Trothean."  That fits.

Spoiler

Now, watch Liara's pedestal shatter before her lovely blue eyes!

Spoiler

That explains the extent of the ruins.

Spoiler

Of course, Para-Shep has to have it spelled out for her.

Spoiler

I think I can hear Liara's heart break from here.

Spoiler

Sometimes I forget how relatively young you really are, Liara.

Spoiler

Well, not the worst excuse for totalitarianism I've ever heard, but still stupid.

Spoiler

Apparently they were playing with our genes too.

Spoiler

This is so wise I want you to promptly forget about it for the rest of the game and give me crap for keeping diversity in the galaxy.

Spoiler

"Good, I was getting tired of calling you Prothy."

Spoiler

Next time: Chatting up the crew!

I always alternate between the two so it isn't an issue for me.  That said  I always do look forward to going back to femshep after doing a trilogy run as dude shep.  Getting ready to finish up the final few stretches of ME 3 with my current male shep soldier.  Looking forward to making a femshep sentinel.

Sidenote: I found a mod that gave Miranda back her black catsuit from her loyalty mission (sans visible Cerberus logo,) so she'll have that on once I go to Sanctum.  Also, I got the mod that makes Allers a little more conservative installed for my Natashina game.  Normally I have no problem with a little T&A (Samara, Thane and Jack anyone?) but I think the dress and hair looks like crap on Allers.  Of course, I hate the tacky shiny vinyl design of those Alliance/N7 dresses in general.   :P
