Sidenote: I found a mod that gave Miranda back her black catsuit from her loyalty mission (sans visible Cerberus logo,) so she'll have that on once I go to Sanctum.  Also, I got the mod that makes Allers a little more conservative installed for my Natashina game.  Normally I have no problem with a little T&A (Samara, Thane and Jack anyone?) but I think the dress and hair looks like crap on Allers.  Of course, I hate the tacky shiny vinyl design of those Alliance/N7 dresses in general.   :P

Thane? Must've missed that bit. Does "T&A" apply to men? :D

Allers looks like she's wearing a swimsuit.

Some would argue that Thane counts, so I'm nipping that in the bud now.  I have read that argument before on the forums.  ;)

Here's what Allers looks like with that mod.

It does look better..

But it's still hard to compliment... since Allers' presence is annoying no matter what.

True, but I deal with her.  Easy War Assets and with three exceptions (including her intro,) I can pretty much ignore the fact she exists.  :P

There's nothing bad about her alone though. It's more about what's missing. 1) So many others deserved to be on that ship 2) They had a much better story planned with Emily Wong

For me, it's also:

3) The lady can't voice act worth a damn.  At least Felicia Day is actually an actress, and did a good job with Tallis despite my feelings about the character herself.

4) Uncanny valley is ugly.

5) "Careful Commander.  You keep feeding me like this and I might have to follow you home" after an interview.

When I choose to have her on the ship, its only for the extra dialogue Samantha has when she talks with Allers over the intercom

I too would prefer Emily Wong on the ship or maybe have Khalisha al Jilani on the ship

Chobot is pretty in real life imo, but yeah, it's not the right medium for her look or something.

I think what kotoreffect3 said earlier about the game being "front loaded" is probably true. And Allers might be a late addition, because they had to rewrite all the VS/Citadel Coup stuff (and this is where Wong originally was).

I think I'm one of the very few that actually liked Khalisha a little.  While she's coming off as a bit harsh when she's interviewing Shep, I like that she doesn't just roll over and just buy whatever the Council says.  I never hit her, and instead took the answers that may have made her look bad, but was largely respectful to her.  By the end of the series, I wish I could have given her a hug.  She seems like a dedicated reporter, and not one that cares about being groomed for the best audience.  Only one that wants to know the truth, and she's a cynic.  The Council seems to love being condescending towards a lot of humans, so her resentment is understandable.

Of course I would have preferred Emily Wong, but I think Khalisha deserved a chance to show a less pushy side.  I always got the feeling that there was more to that character than Shepard got to witness.  Plus, Khalisha was watching on the sidelines the whole time, and was around for a few quests.  Allers on the other hand felt like a last minute replacement.  Figures that she was.

Maker. That is So. Much. Better.

Isn't it though?  I was quite happy when I installed it yesterday.

I like Khalisah too..... but I still punch her in at least one of the games. Just for comedic purposes.

She keeps it real when it comes to defending humanity.

Wong's my homie. Here's hoping they retcon that Twitter mess and get her in the next game.

I forgot about that.

For me, the loss of Wong is a loss of a lot of things tied into her. Khalisah, Kasumi, Thane (or Kolyat, if Thane was dead), Udina, Indoctrinated Hanar, Charles Saracino/Terra Firma.. It sounds pretty epic.

edit: k, enough of that. I'll be happy.

In my first playthrough I was refusing to let her board right away and probably did not pay attention to her name as I've wondered afterwards where this Allers might be :D

My second Shep gathered all the help he could get even though he dispises reporters. I facepalmed a lot with Allers on board, but at least it was kinda funny, and as themikefest said, hearing Sam talk with her were a reason to go back visit. :)

Very quick session last night:

I talked to Dr. Zev Cohen and he told me that some kind of toxic was set free in an experiment and I offered to help the affected by creating the cure.

We entered the quarantine zone and I talked to the volus Han Olar to learn the creatures we encountered are actual rachni. Ugh, wish they'd stayed extinct.

In the lab I manufactured the cure when an asari and her gang tried to prevent me from leaving. We killed them and headed back to the doc. For my help I gained access to the maintenance area and we are on our way to the Secure Lab.

What was the planned story for wong?

It was tied to Kasumi and the Hanar. Along with Kolyat or Thane helping. There was a Hanar terrorist in the wards. Emily and Khalisah get you to investigate the wards to uncover details, and ask that you bring a camera with you while you question witnesses. Emily would be reporting live as you were doing all of this. The story blows up into finding out the Hanar was indoctrinated and also working with Terra Firma/Saracino or something. Then it moves into you tracking down their base and fighting a bunch of Reapers there (not sure if it was Kahje exactly, but I believe it was). There was a second half of it later that involved Cerberus, and it becomes the Coup we kind of have now, where Udina was also working with them.

Basically everything seemed more integrated, instead of these seperate vignettes.

Emily would be reporting live as you were doing all of this. The story blows up into finding out the Hanar was indoctrinated and also working Terra Firma/Saracino or something. It blows up into a bigger story involving the Hanar homeworld (like Kasumi's current mission does), and you tracking down their base and fighting a bunch of Reapers there (not sure if it was Kahje, but I believe it was). There was a second half of it later that involved Cerberus, and it becomes the Coup we kind of have now, where Udina was also working with them.

The thing I wasn't able to find out: Why did Emily Wong go from a fairly plot important NPC to her last message being on real world Twitter?

I think when they ran out of time, they had to scrap dozens of things.. and slim all the Coup/indoctrination story down (along with cutting Javik out and making him DLC). She didn't have a role in this new version, and just dies on twitter. lol

So...they trim all that stuff down, but leave in everything to do with Kai Leng?  Ugh, gotta love EA pushing the devs so hard to finish the game.

No, they rewrote Leng as well. He was way cooler before. More like Maya Brooks. After Udina makes Ash/Kaidan into Spectres, Leng moves in and acts like some Alliance geek. He eggs them on and dupes them into thinking you're still with Cerberus. So they start believing that they're the heroes of their own story. Javik was tied to this, where they're also trying to track down Prothean artifacts the same time you are. It came to a head on Thessia, where Leng forces you to either kill the VS or Liara. Like another Virmire choice. Or something. There was another scenario where Liara could survive, but kill herself if you didn't comfort her about Thessia falling to the Reapers.

And this is why I don't follow most games during development.  That would have been disappointing to learn about.  That would have made the Thessia mission a lot more meaningful rather than one of the most painfully scripted boss fights I've seen outside of a JRPG.

I agree.. but I didn't follow it during development. I found out later and now it just annoys me... because it's better.

But they did reuse some ideas and we got Maya...who turned out to be the best Cerberus villain (well, besides TIM).

Maya was fantastic.  As much as I've heard some fans rip on Citadel for being fan service, I think that Maya and the clone were the best villains in ME3 as a whole.  Even Timmy got a little two-dimensional, although Martin Sheen's acting helped flesh him out some.

Agreed, especially in ME3.  It didn't help for me that Miranda has this white around her eyelids, almost like white eyeliner.  Also, her face upgrades just looked...off.

Edit: Wanted to mention that I've seen pictures of Chobot and she is quite lovely.  I don't think the UE was the best place to show her off.
