Dahlia Shepard awoke abruptly. For moment, she did not know where she was. Then she remembered the previous day's events: the Reapers attacking Earth, fighting Cerberus on Mars, Kaidan getting hurt fighting a Cerberus robot.

She sat on the edge of her bed. She was on the Normandy in her cabin. After spending months in an apartment, the Normandy felt foreign to her, alien.

The recurring dream -- or was it a nightmare -- had returned again, but different this time. She found herself alone in the same dark, foreboding woods, but this time she was not alone. A boy, the same boy from yesterday, the boy she had failed to save, was also with her. In the dream she had run to him, then there was a light and some kind of noise and the boy ran away. She chased after him again, until the boy turned to face her before being consumed by flames.

Dahlia put a hand to her forehead. She was tired and felt miserable. So much suffering and loss already, so many people she would never be able to save, and it would only get worse. She thought of the people they had left behind on Earth. They could have rescued some of them and brought them to the Citadel. Instead, they left Earth immediately, the mission more important than the people she had sworn to protect as an Alliance marine. She felt like a fraud.

Someone knocked on the door, drawing her attention. For a moment, Dahlia stared at it, not wanting to move, wishing she did not have to move. But the Reapers would destroy all organic life in the galaxy unless she stopped them, so Dahlia shoved her fears and doubts into the dark recesses of her mind and stood up. She would not let the Reapers win; she would not fail again.

(These story segments take a long time to write. From here on out, I am going to save them for certain major plot points instead of a lot of major events. I like writing them, but it is time consuming and I want to actually play the game in longer spurts.)

Dahlia Shepard (Flare infiltrator), talked to some of the crew, a mix of familiar and new faces. She managed to convince Dr. Michel become the Normandy's new doctor.

Then she landed on Menae to rescue a Turian Primarch. It was just a moon, but just the devastation on the moon and seeing Palaven on fire reminded her of Earth. It was deflating, but she pressed on. With James and Liara's help, she managed to find and extract the new Turian Primarch, General Adrian Victus. They chatted briefly, but he seems perfect for the job. But the last time she felt that, some people died on the Collector Base, so only time will tell.

Ah, yes.... what did I do?

A couple of days ago I told Liara that I wanted to be more than friends, then last night I took Ashley to the swank benefit at the Silver Coast Casino with Brooks. Liara complained "Next time you have a nice party to go to, would you please consider taking me?"

Yes, Liara, I considered it. I took Ashley instead just because I've never done that. Then I need to win some real money and buy some real weapons. You know, good ones, made by Cerberus, our enemy. Besides with Liara's romance locked, no more worries. Shepard can be an ass now.

Ash has some funny lines there... like telling the guard to feel her muscle.

Then Wrex, Ash and I took on the Clone. Wrex and Ash... for old times. And yeah, I let Brooks live. It's absolutely amazing how overpowered they made the Lancer. How humanity couldn't wipe out the Turians with that weapon, I don't know.

Time to go kill Petrovsky.

Not a whole lot accomplished last night.  Did avenge Admiral Kohuku's death by taking out a cerberus base.  Sandra wonders if this "cerberus" group is going to become a problem.

It was time for Nathan Shepard to chase down leads. Not really his field of expertise. After all, he was a soldier, not a private eye. Pretty much everything went as expected, except that the Krogan went out of line and shot Fist. Not that Shepard felt any pity for a criminal, ending up dead but he couldn't abide anyone under his command just doing whatever the hell they pleased. Usually Shepard would have thrown Wrex off the team right then and there but they didn't have time as they needed to chase down a quarian with the evidence they needed. Also, despite this incident, Shepard actually liked the krogan. He emitted a calm sense of self assurance, that was a good influence on the team. Besides, this would likely not be the last door to kick down while going after Saren so it wouldn't hurt to bring 350 pounds of Krogan with you. Shepard wasn't so sure about the other guy they had picked up along the way, a turian cop named Garrus. He seemed reckless and maybe somewhat insecure but in the end, he won Shepard over because of his determination to finish his mission - and the fact that he seemed just as frustrated with the council as Shepard himself.

Finally, they found the quarian and with her the evidence. It was tough to tell under the suit but Shepard reckoned that the girl with the insanely long name (he only remembered the first part, Tali) was probably no older than maybe 17 or 18 years or whatever the quarian equivalent age might be. Nonetheless, she wanted to join them on their hunt for Saren. Shepard couldn't quite figure why she would want to do that. This was really not her fight and in any case he was unwilling to take responsibility for someone who was little more than a child and had no kind of military training. So he refused her request. Just when he thought the matter was settled, Udina overruled him. A goddamned politician casually overruled him on a decision about judging someone's proficiency in the field, not to mention a decision about who got to be on his own team? Shepard was furious but before he could even reply Udina and Anderson left in order to get the evidence to the council. Shepard couldn't see more than a hint of Tali's face behind her mask but he could have sworn, she answered his frown with an awkward smile as she stepped over to join their little emerging rag tag group.

Renegade  John Shepard on insanity...

Primarch Victus is a recent addition on the Normandy but Shepard isn't going to waste time to chat to him. A disturbance occurred and EDI thought it was a good idea to control a enemy mech. Shepard thought it would have been a better idea to salvage any data and sell the metal for scrap.

Went to the citadel for the first time and travelled to the embassies. Shepard had a chat with a Salarian Spectre and decided to help this fellow Spectre out. Kasumi wasn't involved because she died of an engine room overload during the suicide mission. Shepard had to use the Spectre terminal and decided not to pardon Ken and Gabby. They're currently in custody and will face their charges, if they are innocent then they've got nothing to worry about . Shepard saved Bau's life and got some Spectre aid for the war effort. The price of this was the destruction of the Hanar home world. Shepard left the Citadel without talking to Kaidan again. Apparently, he is on the mend and is left in the doctor's care. The Normandy still has no visible doctor on board.

When Shepard returned to the Normandy, Samantha said that she had a lead which concerned helping Grissom Academy students. Shepard decided to act on this advice (Renegade Shep would've left them but I decided to it because I haven't played this mission Jackless before :)). Shepard met Kahlee Sanders and intends to rescue the students to use them in the Reaper War effort. Encountered Cerberus at the facility and the troops weren't proving a problem due to powerful flares. Prangley is taking charge and Shepard helped them out of a bind. Died for the first time in this ME3 playthrough by a rocket to the face from an Atlas -_-. Shepard wasn't impressed with a couple of student's barriers. David wasn't present on this playthough but the Overlord music still played in the background. Liara broke down the shields of the students to move them on. Commandeered an Atlas mech to destroy the Cerberus forces. It was all going well and it was building up to an Atlas vs Atlas showdown but ... I pressed the wrong button and Shepard exited the mech. Shepard was unable to re-enter the mech so he had to destroy the enemy Atlus the hard way -_-. Prangley died to save Rodriguez and everyone left on a shuttle. Shepard motivated the students on the shuttle to appear on the front lines and use the anger of Prangley's death to spur them on.

Decided to go to the Citadel again to meet with Miranda. Miranda asked about their relationship and Shepard told her that the situation has changed and he needs to focus solely on defeating the Reapers. Miranda was upset (in tears) and left :(.

Shepard attended the Krogan/Salarian summit and the conversation turned to the Genophage cure. Needed to go to Sur'Kesh to extract a Female Krogan. Wrex doesn't trust Shepard because he found out that Maelon's data was destroyed. Shepard believed it was the right choice and he didn't regret it. Wrex landed on Sur'Kesh which turned into a standoff. Once this calmed down, Shepard had a chance to talk to Wrex further. He asked "who tipped you off?" and Wrex replied "someone more trustworthy than you!". There was no Kirrahe at the base as he died at Virmire. Therefore, Shepard had a chance to talk with Tolan. Tolan created a negative impression instantly as he had the audacity to refuse a Shepard handshake! Shepard met Mordin and they both needed to get the female Krogan off world. Tolan died fighting Cerberus and Shepard died a second time against an Atlus mech (rocket to the face again).

The female Krogan was saved. Eve is now on the Normandy but Shepard is not interested in any cultural enlightenment. Wrex won't give support until a cure is synthesised so the next stop is being a lapdog for Victus or Wrex <_<.

Update of my OG Vangaurd Shepard

I completed the rest of the LM's except Tali's which I left until I got Legion, then I did Tali's and Legions missions back to back with both of them accompanying me to each. Seeing the reaction of the Quarians when you bring Legion with you on their ship never gets old. Anyway, before I got Legion I completed all the N7 missions, Project Firewalker, the Overlord DLC where I decided to send David to Grissom and then before going to get Legion I visited the Normandy Crash Site to pay my respects.

Once I had completed Tali's and Legions LM's the collectors came and took the crew, and once we got back we immediately went to get them. I lost Jacob, Jack and Samara during the fight, but we rescued the kidnapped crew and at the end I chose to give the base over to Cerberus. After the credits I went to help Liara look for Feron and take out the SB, helping her take over his position in the process.

Now all I have left to do is the Arrival DLC, which I will probably start within the next 40 mins, and then I can import into ME3!

Just finished Arrival, and therefore ME2, a few short minutes ago. I forgot just how much fun it was to be on your own solo mission, it was an exciting romp.

Before I quit the game I went and retrained my powers since the build I'm using is optimised for a ME2 Vanguard, e.g. Heavy Charge and Champion, whilst in ME3, Area Charge and Destroyer are the way to go.

So yeah, I just changed it now so that I wouldn't have to go all the way through the prologue and Priority Mars with an unoptimised build before I could change it when I got the Normandy.

I'm looking forward to playing through ME3 again, I haven't played the game in 9 months.

I'm not a fan of Arrival... At this point, I get it over with as quick as possible (on my last playthrough on insanity, I waited until I got the achievement.... and then played Arrival on Casual :D).

"Bah, I'm gonna get some achievements today, so I'm gonna equip the TGI with two weapons I've almost never used: the Executioner Pistol and the ADAS, without any consumable equipment, on Silver/Hydra/Geth. Don't expect to finish it, but at least I'll finish those two challenges".

Solo'ed the match :D

For myself, I found it was easier to defeat the Atlas with combos than by trying to shoot it while in the Atlas. I am a terrible shot, and incessant use of combos is going to kill it very quick. An engineer version. A Sentinel version. (both on insanity)

I hear ya. I stick on casual as well, get area reave as a bonus power, and just run through it as fast as possible.

I guess my standard approach with the Atlas is Disrupter or overload..... then unload grenades on it. Then towards the end of the game, just shoot it. Things get a little easy then.

I would too...

..If Harbinger mattered anymore. :D

Then again, maybe it still matters. Who knows what ME:N has in store.

Saber version:

- Acolyte shots until it's shield is down, then Saber shots to the cabin's opening till it's dead.

Harrier version:

- Just shoot the hell out of it.

I've never used the Acolyte actually. I give one to Liara, but of course it's a useless gun for teammates. I just figured she needed an Asari pistol. I have her use SMGs.
