Heh, I'm away from the thread for a few days and then the likes don't want me to catch up.
Shepard’s crowning achievement in tactlessness: taking a geth to a quarian ship.
Naturally, the quarians didn’t like this, and Shep ended up threatening to cough all over their nice clean ship. Somehow, this worked, despite being surrounded. They could’ve easily clocked him on the head and left him in the Normandy. Bet they’d love to meet EDI. I can’t stop laughing at this:
Quarian: “You’re charged with bringing active geth back to the Fleet.”
Tali: “I would never do that!”
Legion: “...”

Even better is when they walk into the trial, full of quarians. Admiral Koris shouted “Security, there’s a geth in the courtroom!” Camera cuts to Legion looking around like “a geth?! Where?!” Ah, marvellous!

Shepard was not pleased about them springing news of the Alarei on Tali, and made sure to let them know about it. In private though, he appreciated Raan’s efforts to tilt things in Tali’s favour. It’s a subtle bit of politicking that would never have occurred to him. They stopped to say hi to Reegar, dear Veetor, and the admirals – including Legion’s number one fan. Shepard might have to put a tracker on Legion to make sure Xen doesn’t walk off with our robot.

The Alarei was pretty easy with Tali and Legion, even without their loyalty powers. Combat drones all over the place! Shep gave Tali a hug when she found out about her father, and intends to make good on that promise to get her to the homeworld one day. After the Reapers are dealt with, but one day. He also apologised to Legion for the sheer amount of friendly fire occurring.

The admirals declared Tali cleared of all charges with their lovely, lovely voices.
In the spirit of fairness, Shep then took Tali to the heretic station. I’m giving this a whirl on veteran to see how much I would like it. Playing a bit more tactically and a bit less Jenkins-y meant that it was fairly easy too. Only real problem was that I had to change my tactics for the final battle with waves of geth.
Talking to Legion on the station makes it seem that the geth are more alien than the actual aliens. Even EDI seems pretty human. But the way the geth think and perceive things is so strange, Shep will probably never understand it. He opted to destroy the station, since there’s no guarantee the heretics won’t switch sides again. Plus, explosions! (Jack would approve, I'm sure

)
He chatted to everyone after that. The Legion/Tali fight was calmed. Mordin sang. Grunt wanted to hit things (and Shep is fully supportive). Garrus is still calibrating. Samara shared some stories. Jacob doesn’t ‘want to force these talks’. Jack was very confused that Shepard wants to be her friend and not sleep with her. Apparently the Reaper IFF is nearly installed.
