Shepard resisted every batarian-killing instinct he has, and decided to sneak through the Aratoht facility until he reached Hackett’s friend. She was right in the middle of being tortured by the batarians. Charming bunch. Sure, they think she’s a terrorist, but in Shep’s opinion, pretty much every batarian is a terrorist.  -_-

Naturally, he was able to get the pair of them off the planet and back to the space station, only to discover that some geniuses have left a Reaper indoctrination device out in the open. The good doctor started to glow with a Harbinger light, and a fight ensued.
Shepard tucked himself into a little elevated platform where he could keep an eye on everyone in the room. With a singularity in place and regular Pulls, he was mowing through the indoctrinated nitwits. Their panicked conversation over the intercom was marvellous. :P They brought out a YMIR mech, and Shep wasn’t worried at all, with his trusty Collector beam. Only… he Pulled a guy and proceeded to get distracted. So he didn’t notice the guy floating towards him… until the guy got up and started shooting at Shep. :pinched: Shepard got so distracted by this, that the YMIR was able to close in and finish him off. Shep cursed Hackett with his final thought before falling unconscious.

When he regained consciousness, he assumed direct control of a mech, and then started to fight through the station. It was a dozen-to-one on a regular basis, and Shep’s barely broken a sweat. The engineers keep shouting “Stop, drop and roll!” as they unleash incinerate. Why are they giving him advice? This isn’t school, you know. :P And surely it’s better for you if Shep’s on fire?

Shepard decided not to warn the colony. If anyone has the time and resources to get to a ship and escape, it’ll be the rich slave owners. The slaves are doomed no matter what. So with a grim sense of satisfaction, he chose to contact Joker instead. You a bad man, Shep.  :?

Fortunately, he escaped to fight another day, and won the most satisfying victory in the trilogy:

Onto ME3, now! I've been really looking forward to this bit. Unlike ME1 and 2, I haven't played it a dozen times. Only four, so it should be pretty fresh.  ^_^

Today Naomi saved a fellow N7 - Captain Lee Riley. Though technically, it was Dr. T'Soni who saved her (as Shepard pointed out in the end) :)

Just finished Horizon. Tried to be as friendly as I could to Ash. But will be pissed at Liara.

Also, Urdnot Dagg was pretty awesome.  He is no grunt, but you gotta love a boastful Krogan.  Too bad he had to get skewered on account of me saving the clearly indoctrinated Rachni Queen.

Congrats! The most difficult mission of all

Today I went to Illium because I got information from Cerberus that Liara is there, hunting the Shadow Broker. I ran into Gianna Parasini again and talked to an asari barkeeper, Matriarch Aethyta (Conrad didn't show up :().

Then I went to Liara, she was relieved to see me and we hugged. It's good to see her, I had taken a bit of a liking to her after all we went through with Saren and Sovereign. We talked about how she's been and it turned out she could use my help with hacking some terminals to get valuable info, which I agreed to, and in turn I asked for information on Thane and Samara. I took care of the terminals and upon returning also gave Liara intel from Cerberus about the Shadow Broker. In the process I learned that it was her and a drell named Feron who recovered my body. It was her who handed me over to Cerberus! I got mad at her for this, she knew I despised them, but in the end... yeah, it did bring me back. Liara got a bit excited now that she saw that Feron was still alive and hurried out of her office. We planned to meet up at her apartment, but I want to take care of some other things first, my own mission takes priority.

I decided to see to Jacob's problem with his father (was in the mood for that today ^_^). So him, Miranda and I landed on Aeia to check out the wreckage of his father's ship that went missing about 10 years ago. Something is strange here, seems the local food messes with the mind of people. We stumbled upon a survivor who talks about some strange things, when suddenly a guy appears and shot her. We took down a group of these people, hunters (Jacob said it today! His gravity line :P). Further in we found a camp with female only survivors. They are scared of Jacob. What did his father do that scared them so much? We found out when I got a datapad from a doctor. The females were assigned to officers, amongst other horrible things like letting them eat the local toxic food deliberately. I shook my head in disgust. What is this? What kind of person does something like that to the own crew?

We eventually reached Ronald Taylor after some resistance in mech form and a few of his guards, but then it was time to solve this problem. We had to take him back to reality because he thought we were there to rescue him from his insane crew. Rescue? No, far from it. Jacob had to introduce himself and his father didn't expect to see his son here. They talked for a bit and I was so mad at him for what he did to these people that I bluntly suggested to Jacob I'd kill him. Jacob surprised me by giving his father a gun and telling him that it's not for the hunters that just appeared, but for him. So Ronald Taylor shot himself. There was a time I would have let people like him get arrested by the Alliance, but now... I find this the right kind of justice. He got what he deserved.

Back on the Normandy Jacob found out it was Miranda who forwarded the distress call. I sensed there must have been some history between those two, from how they interact with each other, but it's none of my business. I just made sure that Jacob was okay and it seems he is. He said his real father died long ago anyway. I can understand.

I always kinda liked Jacob's loyalty mission. The planet is beautiful and it's one of the more relaxing loyalty missions imo  No deaths today, woo!

Renegade  John Shepard on insanity...

Started the day on Noveria with Garrus/Liara to stop Cerberus's nefarious activities. Garrus had the delegated duty of hacking away at the security terminal to bring down the facility defences whilst Liara and Shepard was on defence. This didn't go well to begin with as Liara got KOed and Shepard ran out of the room to find cover. The Cerberus troops must have been star-struck as they ignored the Turian hacker in the background  and focused on the renown Commander Shepard. Cerberus forces were defeated and Shepard got a few fighter planes for the cause. He also managed to find some heating schematics which will be for his personal use (electric blanket maybe?) as he is not the helping others type.

Decided to go to the Citadel next to speak with the Asari. Shepard overheard a lot of people who need help but he believes that they should have a proactive approach so all their pleas are falling on Shepard's deaf ears. Firstly, there was a slight diversion of speaking with Shepard's ex, Miranda. She wanted access to Alliance information and this was refused. Miranda had a chat about a control chip and Shepard replied "better be dead than someone else's play mate" (not the best choice of words after a brief fling :pinched:). Shepard went next door and bulked out the resistance forces by allying with the Blood Pack. Met the Asari councillor and she discloses information about an artefact because the Reapers have turned up the heat on her homeworld. Shepard wanted to reply in a Renegade sarcastic Turian way of "Ah yes... Reapers!" and leave them to fend for themselves but he was obliged to help.

Shepard decided to leave the Citadel and Wrex was lurking behind the exit door. The Genophage sabotage was revealed and Shepard's deceit has caught up with him. Shepard still tried to lie about the sabotage as his Krogan alliance was hanging on by a thread and he even mentioned the "I got your family armour" card to try and persuade him. Wrex fired the first shot and Shepard retaliated. Wrex was injured but still managed "I know what you did!" line and Shepard delivered the final blow :(. A sad moment which was followed by Bailey's 'tactful' response of "might have to space" the corpse. So a result of this is no more Krogan support.

Landed on Thessia with Liara/EDI and managed to get to the temple. Everyone looked at the Artefacts that was on display like it was a museum and no-one mentioned the Asari/Prothean similarities. The penny didn't drop until the beacon was revealed. Shepard encountered a Prothean VI and asked about the Catalyst. The Prothean's didn't reply with a simple answer and chose to do a long winded introduction <_<. This led to an inconvenient interruption with Kai Leng. Shepard had a chat with the Illusive Man but was unable to pick the Renegade choice (first time this has happened to me so I think not doing the side-quests might have hindered this). Leng got away with the data and Thessia was devastated by the Reaper attack. Shepard seemed to be more annoyed at losing Thessia than when he left Earth.

Back on the Normandy and there was a feeling of hopelessness among the crew. EDI provided a potential lead on where to go next instead of Samantha (again another first for me, I thought I would still have gotten Samantha because I completed the Grissom quest and the Ex-Cerberus Scientist quest). EDI was singing Samantha's praises and she was right their looking bashful . After this little meeting, Samantha's bashfulness soon abated as she piped up about Ontarom.

Shepard had his first conversation with Joker on the Normandy since ME2. Joker tried to make light of the situation on Thessia and Shepard was not amused. The conversation didn't end well and Shepard told Joker that "I don't need your help!" and then left. Shepard won't talk to Joker again and will not attempt to build any bridges.

Shepard's next stop is Eden Prime as there is a Prothean Artefact and this could be used to try and build some momentum again for the War Effort.

(INooooo, I've just realised that I've failed at a pure renegade run as there is a slight slither of blue on the meter!!!) -_-

If you wanted to give him what he deserved, you should have chosen the neutral option and left him with the angry men.

I have been sidetracked by playing some Dragon's Dogma instead of Mass Effect 3, but I put the disk back in today and played some more Dahlia Shepard (Flare infiltrator).

Dahlia followed Hackett's orders and took some shore leave. Unfortunately for Dahlia, some goons decided this would be a great time to ambush her. Unfortunately for them, she killed them instead and escaped.

I was not going to do this, but figured what the heck. From the story of Dahlia Shepard:

New plan to save the galaxy.  Forget the Krogan, Turians, or crucible, it's time to uplift the Thresher Maws and clone Kalros.  Surely the galaxy would burn in the aftermath, but what a glorious end it would be!

So Zapp cured the genophage today.  It was a shame to see Padok Wiks go, but someone needed to disperse the cure and Shep sure wasn't going up the burning building.  The krogan female died as well.  But it's all ok because Wreav made it through unharmed and ready to lead the Krogan against the Salarians!... er.... I mean Reapers.

However, Wreav also informed Zapp that Padok will not be remembered, as he can't have history remembering an alien curing the genophage.  Well if Wreav is going to forget to mention aliens in his history, then I guess Zapp is going to forget to mention that giant nuclear bomb Victus' son was after.

You're right, but I didn't know "I'd shoot him." turned out... not shooting him  I wanted Jacob to do it (hell, even I would have done it!), haha. And I was too lazy to re-load and go through the whole thing again. Either way, dead is dead and that's a good thing in his case :D

I'll definitely pick the neutral option next time, haven't seen it so far.

It's funny how a companion can change the whole mood of the game. Like the difference between bringing Thane and Samara to the Collector Ship. Or Garrus and Jack. One is somber and the other dark comedy. The last two kind of mock death.

A mix of the two is also great (I like Thane and Jack together, for some reason).

Today I'm a bit sad that with a 'joke' Chochobot (AIU) + Claymore build I managed to consistently do more points than with my preferred Talon Smashguard :( (Gold, Cerberus/White, Vancouver/Reapers).

This was Lilian Shepard´s second visit to the citadel after Earth was invaded. She authorized the full pardon for an ex-cerberus engineer now filled with guilt over the death of a co-worker. She also visited Ashley, now conscious  but still with her face ruined. They´re friends once more. She also visited Thane, now confined to the hospital and concerned about his son. I also met Liara, Joker, Edi, Barla Von, Aria... Now I´m on the Normandy, heading back to the colony of Eden Prime. Even with Edi´s new body becoming a possible squad-mate, and Garrus returning, the ship still feels a little empty compared to ME2 so I guess a new squad-mate is a priority. After that I think I´ll head to Grisson Academy.

Some more banner hunting....I don't know what to make of the N7 Crusader shotgun....I mean, it's great and all that, but I still don't understand it. It's like it can't decide wheter to be a shotgun or a massive pistol (even the Talon makes more sense than it, being a kinda ultra-sawed-off shotgun).

It was originally written around her though. Or the concept was.

I like it in both ways, but for the love of god, just kill her in the SM if you do this (I hope you did this). Don't save her, just to be indoctrinated and tortured by the people she hates most. :(

Anyways, I just can't do a true Failshep playthrough, just because how pathetic the Citadel party will look. :P

Tell me about it, it's kinda even a drag just missing the VS at the party. The most fail I've managed to do was Wrex in ME1, Mordin, Thane, Jacob, Samara, Legion, Grunt, dead in ME2 and the VS in the coup for my ultra-renegade Svetlana. Those five missing from the party were noticeable. I can't imagine only having James, EDI, Traynor, Liara and Joker at one!

I've been playing the crap out of the Star Trek TNG mod for Distant Worlds and was thinking it would be perfect for a MEU TC. It has a built in storyline that you have to discover while playing that involves a terrible extragalactic threat that wiped out galactic civilization before and is returning. Just change the Shakturi to the Reapers, Ancient Guardians to the Leviathan, add in the ME races and picture files and you'd be golden. It even has various pirate faction mechanics that would abstract Terminus factions and Cerberus beautifully. Damn, if only I had the ability. I would kill for a 4x ME game.

Don't worry, Subject Zero was thoroughly fried by the collector beams thanks to the Normandy's lack of shields.  I think she was actually the first in a long list of casualties.  As much as I am enjoying seeing new things as a failshep, I don't think I would have it in me to condemn Jack to Cerberus' phantom program.  Legion on the other hand...

Spoiler

Well that's a bummer, guess he was too cool for this galaxy.

So after stopping a Cerberus coup yesterday, I had some time today and marathoned through the Rannoch arc.  I won't lie, I've always been a bit of a Quarian fan, so I was really looking forward to seeing how this played out differently without both Tali and Legion.  Things started out pretty well, more Claudia Black is always a good thing after all, and we get to see more of the admirals and their personalities.  Raan in particular I think gets some much needed character development.

The Geth VI/Not-Legion was not as fun.  Him and Legion have very similar personalities and the same voice, so that was a bummer.  There were some good minor change in dialogue to make him less friendly and a little colder towards organics, but Legion's absence is not quite as dramatic as Tali's.

Also, I'm pretty sure I got a non-standard Game Over by frying poor Zapp's mind in the consensus mission.  Having no love for the Geth's propaganda piece, I tried to run through the mission as fast as possible and it looks like the consensus has some lag issues as a panel failed to materialized and Zapp was sent slowly plummeting to his doom.  Turns out that the "memories" are not the only deceptions in the consensus, as the seemingly infinite expanse of squares and code is nothing more than a matte painting that bugs out an Xbox when a person lands on it.

So one XBox reset later I finish the mission and Zapp prepares to take out the reaper base.  Unfortunately, the reaper base is actually a reaper, and with no thresher maws in site, Zapp followed the wise teaching's of his childhood hero Sir Robin and ran away.  Luckily the quarian fleet was on standby and the reaper was bombarded into oblivion.  Following success over one synthetic race, Zapp decided to continue the streak and wished the Quarians happy hunting in exterminating the geth.  So with war assets at a minimum thanks to no ME2 heretic mission, Zapp returned to the Normandy satisfied at a job well done.  EDI seemed a little distraught, but Joker had a nice conversation (that I had never heard before) with her and she seemed to accept Shepard's reasoning.

Zapp was so happy with the outcome, he could throw a party.  Speaking of which, Anderson mentioned something about an apartment, and with him out of town....  Though the guest list might be a little short on account of most Zapp's friends being 6ft under, or whatever the burial in space equivalent is, 6ly out?  Pushing up asteroids? Gone to the great Normandy in the sky?  In any case, it's back to the citadel.
