On another note, when watching those music vids, I ran across some short film that I guess came with an ME2 edition? Never saw it before. Here's part 1 below. It was cool to see how proud they were of that game back then. Too bad that didn't last long. Some dumbshit haters must've gotten into their heads. They've been pandering to ME1 nostalgia ever since.

Spoiler

It's too bad you can't find Zaeed in ME3, telling stories of that one time he went on a suicide mission: "and I was the only one who got out alive."

Did Mordin survive being a fireteam leader?? It mandatory that at least one squadmate survives to hold the line? Like how you can't kill Wrex if Tali is your only other squadmate available to accompany Shep on Virmire.

I've done that. Mordin was the only one to be 2nd fireteam leader and he survived. I like his dialogue. He died when I left him holding the line by himself

Excellent! I'd really like to try that out. Plus having Zaeed hold the line alone. I knew it could be done with Grunt, but not Zaeed.

The next Sheps I take through ME2 should have more interesting suicide missions, I think.  ^_^

I need to play a lot more ME3 as a Sentinel, but from the little I saw the class was nerfed. I mean, the fact that you can explode your holo-armor at any time is great, but the effect was stronger in ME2, plus you could use four powers in a row, totally avoiding the cooling down period.

i would not say the Sentinel was nerfed, exactly. The Sentinel has access to the same power combo system as all the other classes, so it can set up and detonate explosions like the other classes.

Tech Armor has certainly changed though, partly so it comes in line with some of the new game mechanics.

  • The cooldown is now after purging, not before. And yes, you can now manually purge tech armor.
  • The initial recharge speed is much less than it was in ME2, for better or worse.
  • The purging radius has been massively reduced.
  • Purging tech armor does not detonate tech explosions, unfortunately.
  • There is no longer any evolution that gives you back shields on tech armor detonation.
  • Purging Tech Armor no longer resets squadmate cooldown (more on that in a bit).
  • Keeping Tech Armor on gives you damage reduction, but decreases your recharge speed (-50% by default; was initially -80% at launch. Damage reduction was also increased since release).

In my experience, you are better off leaving Tech Armor activated and never purging it, so you can keep the damage reduction. Purging it for damage is mostly counter-productive in my experience, particularly on higher difficulties. You can do it, and maybe should do it occasionally, but it tends to leave you vulnerable if you try to make a playstyle out of it.

And in ME2, Tech Armor's ability to reset squadmate cooldown was never meant to be in the final product of the game; it was a feature during development and it was supposed to be cut, but somehow was left in or got put back in by accident. See this thread (you can read the page from the top, or scroll down a bit to see a series of tweets from Christina Norman).

Wreav: I want the genophage cured

me: Is that possible?

Dalatross: No. It can't be done Commander

Victus: What choice do we have?

Wreav: Here. Watch this movie.  It can be done

me: We'll do what we can. Lets go.

Dalatross: I won't forget this Commander

me: GRUNT! What brings you here?

Grunt: Wreav wants me to help with getting the females back

LT. Sidonis: Commander. Victus would like for me to go with you to help out.

me: That's fine. Both of you head to the CIC and talk with Colonel Traynor. She will add a couple things to your armor and weapons

me: Are you ok with not coming with me to Sur'Kesh Sam?

Traynor: I'm fine with it. It will give me more time to work with the mineral samples I took from Menae. Be careful Commander

me: Yes ma'am

me: Mordin! How are you?

Mordin: Good to see you and Grunt. We need to get the female out of here. The alarm bothers her

Grunt: Its good to see you doc.

Eve: Who's that fine looking Krogan.

Grunt: Oh boy. I need a cold shower

Eve: I like the way you think young one, but I would prefer hot water

me: You have an admirer Grunt

Grunt: Lets get out of here Shepard

Grunt: IIIIII.......AAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM...............KKRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Cerberus tropper: TAKING CASUALTIES

Cerberus Trooper: TAKING CASUA-------

Altas: TAKING CASUALTIES

Grunt: YEAH. WOW. What a rush Shepard. You missed all the fun

me: I see. What the heck happened?

Grunt: Your female Colonel girl is what happened. She added some fade touched whatever that increases my bloodrage.

Lt. Sidonis: That sucks. I was hoping to kill some Cerberus guys

me: You'll get your chance again. Lets get back to the Normandy

Grunt: YOU! Thank you for that.

Traynor: Ahh...Your welcome. I think

Grunt: You will be remembered what you did today by the Krogan people. Thank you again

me: Be careful Grunt.  She's not as tough as you

Grunt: I know. We need to do this again Shepard. I will be with Wreav if you need me. Thanks Colonel girl

Traynor: I never thought I make a Krogan so happy

me: He loves tough fights. What fade touched item did you give him?

Traynor: I added fade touched uranium to his armor. It gives a 10% chance of Berserker for 20 seconds with 200% damage

me: Oh crap. That item is only for Krogan, right?

Traynor: That's right. We need to get to Grissom Academy

me: Alright. I'll tell Snoopy to head there right away.

Did a few quick tests:

-Made Mordin not loyal and he still survived.

-Mordin dead, and replaced by Legion (not loyal) = Legion survived.

-Both Mordin and Legion dead, and the number of squadmates then comes to a minimum, because Tali will die to seekers, and the game didn't let me send anyone to escort the crew. Miranda said: "We don't have enough people left to send someone back with them." = Which will leave me with Grunt, Miranda, Zaeed. 1 holding the line, 2 for Shepard.

- Now with Mordin, Legion, Grunt dead. No one could escort the crew, Tali as fire leader. Miranda doing bubble with Shep and Zaeed.

--> Tali survived. Zaeed died to seekers. Miranda & Tali with Shepard to fight the Reaper, and no one holding the line.

--> Tali not loyal so she died fighting the Reaper, which made Shepard die even though Miranda was standing next to Joker.

Modding no one to hold the line works at least.

Yes, at least one squadmate must hold the line, so if you have only one squadmate left to send as the second fireteam leader, they will survive regardless of their loyalty or leadership ability.

Rescued students (and Jack) from Grissom Academy. Ran around doing grunt work for Aria, though I refuse to talk with that slimeball Vosque this time. Met with Dr. Bryson but he was killed by his assistant before telling Shepard anything useful. Will track down this Garneau fellow later, after meeting with the diplomats.

I want to take Kaidan on that mission, as well as back to Eden Prime to find Javik, so I have quite a bit to do in the meantime. It's been a while since I played....forgot I have to do the genophage mission before the coup triggers. <_<

me: Any reason why Cerberus would be on Sur'Kesh?

Miranda: I would say to interfere with your chance of allying the Turians and Krgoan. The only question is who notified them

me: Hard to say.  We're heading to Grissom Academy. I like to have you with me for that mission

Miranda: I'll be ready when you need me Shepard

me: Grunt and Sidonis. I'm sending you guys to Tuchanka to deal with a Cerberus presence. Wipe them out. Whatever they're doing can't be good.

Sidonis: We can do that Shepard

Grunt: Looking forward to it

me: Head to the shuttle. The pilot should be waiting

me: How many students are there?

Sanders: About 12. Thanks for coming.  They're located in the atrium. They're instructor is with them.

me: We'll get them.

Jack:  That's for trusting Cerberus

Traynor: How dare you?

Jack: What the he--

me: Be careful Jack. This is Colonel Traynor. She's only defending me. You're also lucky I didn't hit you

Jack: Fine. I see you brought the cheerleader

Miri: Hello to you to Jack

me: You both need to get along with each other. The enemy is Cerberus and the reapers. We wil take point while you and the students hit them from the 2nd floor

Kathlee: Thanks for getting them out of here Commander. Maybe they can be used for the frontlines

me: I have a better idea. Jack and the students stay with me on the Nirmandy. They can go on missions that would be well suited for their training.

Jack: I like that. You find bigger fights.

me: Ok. When we get to the Normandy, report to Colonel Traynor for her to add a few things to your armor and wepons. You're welcome to stay on the Normandy with us Sanders.

Sanders:I would like that. Thanks

Sidonis: Cerberus was trying to take control of an ancient Krogan gun. We used it to destroy a Cerberus cruiser.

me: Nice

Grunt: It was glorious Shepard. I barely broke a sweat. How about another mission except with reaper ground forces this time

me: I'll see what I can do Grunt

me: Hey Jack. How do you and the students feel about fighting some Cerberus baddies?

Jack: I would feel excellent. I will tear them apart

me: You and tha students will be going to Benning to get rid of Cerberus troopers who are taking civilians. Use whatever means you like.

Jack: Cool. Tell you Colonel girlfriend that I'm looking forward to testing her upgrades

me: Girlfriend?

Jack: You heard me. I saw you looking at her drooling all over the place.

Miri: I've talked with a few of my contacts that know anything about Cerberus with no luck.

me:  Hmm. Keep trying. I would also like know who it was that alerted them about the female Krogan on Sur'Kesh

me: Any updates Kasumi?

Kasumi: The only thing is the councilor seems to send and receive a lot of messages from a Matriarch  Bethesda. I don't know what the messages are or where the Matriarch is. In fact, a few asari I've asked on the Citadel never heard of the name

me: That could be something. Keep me posted. Any word from Samara?

Kasumi: Nothing. When are heading back out?

me: Shortly. I came here to get supplies for the Normandy

I think they originally planned on a much more open system, but it was Xbox exclusive at first, and required two discs, so they frontloaded it with a set amount of required companions. That's why all the companions have dialogue even in areas they're technically not originally in (Legion or Thane at Horizon, for example). They were originally meant to be all recruitable at any time.

Welp. Here I go ready to redo everything all over. Good thing the PS3 keeps a visible save file of previous playthroughs (the xbox made this hidden, so the only way to wipe it was to wipe the whole hard drive). I don't want too many playthroughs clogging up that list.

I guess I'll make the best of it and pick up more trophies.

On another note, the PS3 controller sucks.

Me: How'd it go Jack?

Jack: Tell your girlfriend she rocks. Those upgrades really helped. A few of us suffered a few cuts and bruises. Dr.Chakwas is treating those injuries.

me: The next mission you go on, would you like some extra help?

Jack: I'll let you know when that time comes.

Traynor: Any luck finding anything about the councilor?

me: No. I have an idea that might work once we deal with the Krogan and Turians.

Traynor: I've got more fade touched items ready when you decide to bring more folks on the ship.

me: Is there anyway you can add a third one?

Traynor: Mmmm. I could add one to the helmet or even a visor. I'll do a few tests to make sure. It might take a bit of time.

Dagg: Commander. I'm the leader of Dinosaur Company. We're here to kill some Rachni.

Grunt: Rachni? Excellent.  Lets go have some fun Shepard.

me: How bad is it Dagg?

Dagg: Not sure. There's lots of tunnels for the buggers to hide.

me: Alright Dagg. Be careful

Sidonis: Shepard? You know what's going to happen don't you?

me: Ha. Yeah I do. We might as well stay here and let Grunt do all the work. Or we can steal kills from him

Sidonis: I like the way you think Shepard

Grunt: There they are. IIII..........AAMMMMMMMMM.....KROOOGANNNNNNNNNN

me: Come on Sidonis. Get your kills while you can

Grunt: I see what you two were doing. That's not funny taking away my fun.

me: Can't let you do all the work

Sidonis: Looks like a nest over there

fake Queen: Release me and I will do harm to everyone.

me: No. You will die here

fake Queen: KILL THEM. KILL THEM ALL

Dagg: This way Commander

me: That was close

Dagg: Thanks for the help Commander. My team and I will join your fight once we get cleaned up

me: Take care Dagg

Wreav: Good to see you took care of the Rachni

me: Yep. No casualties

Mordin: I got the cure done. We can go to Tuchanka and apply it to all Krogan

me: How will you do that?

Mordin: Not sure

me: I know. We use a crop duster to spead it

Mordin: A what? I know. We can use the shroud

me: What do you want Dalatross?

Dalatross: Are you going to cure the genophage?

me: If you give me 1 million credits, I won't

Dalatross: That's blackmail Commander. What are you going to do with it?

me: I have a few ideas once the reapers are stopped.

Dalatross: Very well. You'll have your credits

Jack asked me to help her with some personal things back at the Pragia facility where she was held as a kid. Sure, I guess we can spare a bit of time.
I got an e-mail from Kaidan. Good thing I'm in the CIC in front of everybody. My heart beats fast as I read his lines, but I kept my emotions in check. Don't want anyone to see me in one of my weaker moments.

Why does he tell me this now? I thought we were done? We should be done. I feel it time and time again, as much as I wanted this, it's neither good for the job nor for me, and definitely not for him. No, I can't dwell on this now, it's over. It's tough, but that's how it's gotta be. I needed to keep busy, so we set course for Pragia right away. I'm a bit restless until we arrived, but I managed to keep myself busy enough to pass the time.
Miranda accompanied us, I try to find out exactly where she stands with Cerberus, if maybe if she sees what was done to Jack... let's see.
It's wet and dark here, a very welcoming place, and we killed our first varren on the way in. These weren't the last enemies however, and we encountered Blood Pack mercs not too soon. What exactly do they want here?

Learning about Jack's past is hard to stomach, she had a horrible life. One that I could've had in a similar way, enslaved by batarians if it hadn't been for the Alliance rescuing me. Cerberus is just disgusting. Kids were pitted here against each other, and we soon learned experiments were done to them in order to turn Jack into who she is today. Whatever killed other kids was not tried on Jack. Miranda was, as expected, quite indifferent about all these revelations. Well, at least one thing is for sure, this time it cannot be held against the Illusive Man, seems he didn't know what was going on here back then.

We moved on and found out that the Blood Pack mercs were hired by someone called Aresh, and after killing them we found him in Jack's old cell. Jack raised her gun on him and he told us he knew "Subject 0" and wants to get the facility running again, but I can't let him do this. I told Jack to shoot him, but she hesitated, and in the end she let him go. I walked through her room with her, listening to what she had to say, then it's time to blow this place up. I had a chat with Jack afterwards and she's grateful we did this.

Then I went to recruit Tali with Kasumi and Miranda. The sun on Haestrom drains our shields, so we took cover in the shadows whenever we could. Seems that Tali's crew had been overrun by geth during a mission, but at least Tali is supposed to be safe. On our way we left quite a few geth corpses, and we ended up getting to the area where Tali is locked away without major trouble.

But sh*t, there's a geth colossus waiting. Kal'Reegar, one of Tali's crew I talked to over radio earlier, was already holed up there, distracting geth from getting to Tali. We considered our options and he offered to help deal with the colossus, as it can repair itself. I'd appreciate it. We went in through the right side, taking out geth along the way. We came close enough to the colossus to take it out completely, and then we met Tali. Good to see her alive, and since she's done with her mission, she is now able to join our cause. Kal'Reegar didn't make it unfortunately, but he helped us and did his duty.

Back on the Normandy Tali is not too keen on me working with Cerberus, but she trusts me enough to understand why it has to be for the time being. I had a chat with her about the new Normandy and what her mission on Haestrom was about.

1 death from the Geth Prime at the garage (it moves soooo fast!!), and one 1 because I was stupid and ran into a corner where the sun drained my shields and the drones had an easy time then to kill me right away

Yes. You can accept his help or miss the Paragon interrupt and he will survive. I think Reegar dying only happens if you take too long to kill the Colossus.

Yes. It doesn't matter much what you pick. If he shoots the Colossus it's a bit more likely it will target him, but if you move fast enough you can kill it without Reegar dying.
