When I play as an adept, I use reave the most even though its a bonus power. I even did a playthrough only using that power.
What did you do today in the Mass Effect trilogy

I find its more annoying when Pull drags your enemy away and then they pop up in the least convenient place and it won't die because they're being trapped in the wall or something

For most of the game it is hard to decide between Singularity and Pull on the Adept... since you can pretty much ignore both of them if you take Liara and Javik everywhere for their Singularity and Pull. At which point you are just using Throw and Warp, which basically makes you a Sentinel without Tech Armor (damage protection).
Which is kind of why I think the Adept is the worst/weakest class in ME3.

And that´s why I love quick save.
Reave is probably my favorite bonus power. Lash gets old very easily. Reave is very powerful. It involves reducing the damage you take, progressive damage, and it can also detonate explosions. You can´t go wrong with it. Sometimes it´s hard to resist not using it as the bonus power. Lash and dominate are also very amusing.
Today Lilian Shepard brought cerberus down. Being a sentinel really paid of today. So many enemies in tight quarters. Edi overloaded them and Lilian´s tech-armor finished the job. But as effective and entertaining that it may be, it still strikes me as odd to see someone causing so much damage by simply turning on and off a holographic shield that emits a pulse.

Dahlia Shepard (Flare Infiltrator) entered the Geth Consensus to stop geth fighters from attacking the Quarian fleet. And surprise(!), the geth construct moved geth programs into Prime platforms to join the team. Dahlia welcomed the new allies.
With all the secondary Quarian and Geth problems dealt with, Dahlia landed on Rannoch at a geth base to destroy the short-range Reaper signal. Resistance was minimal until the team ran into three Geth Primes at the end, but even that was hardly a roadblock.
And then the Reaper signal turned out to be broadcast from an actual Reaper. They managed to escape the Reaper and with the Quarian fleet's help, managed to destroy the Reaper. As the Reaper was shutting down, it talked to Dahlia. And then this happened:
Next, Dahlia will head to a Fuel Reactor on Cyone, and then go see the Asari Councillor about some matter she wishes to discuss.

Lash never gets old. It sets up explosions with the DOT evolution and of course always sets them off. Who can resist tossing Leng around like a rag doll at least once! I like Reave as well, but it's not as 'cinematic' as Lash which I think works perfectly gameplay wise and lorewise with a Vanguard.

I just toss inferno grenades and charge/detonate that way. Or inferno ammo. It's just all about fire with me and Vanguard (and shotguns to the face).

Yeah, we´ve all done the trick of lashing kay-lame around at least once. But the point is: I don´t think I would be inclined to do it twice. I can´t laugh loudly at a joke I heard 10 times already.
I like lash during the mp sections, but for single-player, to me it was a once in a life pleasure. While it represents the best of both worlds of Pull and Slam with a touch of throw I think the mechanic makes it a bit tiresome to use a lot of times. And that boss fight became so easy that it seems more like some exploit over a point in which the developers lacked attention even if they would not come forward and admit it.
Same thing goes for me in playing ME2 with a sentinel and constantly resetting powers, triggering 2 explosions in succession like I did the last time. While very fun to do it once, I can´t help but thinking that I´m exploiting the game by using a bug of sorts, a flaw in the mechanic, or at the very least an unintended feature that the developers overlooked. Yeah, they decided not to fix it even after several update patches for the game (the removal of this feature in ME3 is as close of an admission of guilt as we can get), but nevertheless, if it´s not conventionally a cheat, it´s at least a cheap way of winning.
And yes, Lash does fit nicely with the vanguard mentality and play style, since vanguard is the over the top class, even playing superman and flying towards the enemy. The other classes (even the biotic based ones) are a little more down to earth, they sound more like true futuristic sci-fi and less like teen fantasy in a space setting. It´s fitting for a vanguard, but more than a little strange for an infiltrator or engineer.
When I first used it, it was exactly with a vanguard. But since I was a little scared of jumping towards a group of enemies and become surrounded, I used lash to separate one of the enemies from the crowd and then finished him with charge. If I´m using a non-imported vanguard, with very few points to spend, that´s my tactic. While it may take some time, it´s safe and sound. One by one the enemies will fall.

Lilian´s journey is ended. As a sentinel, she decided to go synthesis in the end. Now everyone is a little of everything and everything is a little of everyone. Just like she was a little of everything.
Glad she did not see Traynor´s reaction, not even protesting when Garrus insisted that they had to go. And Lilian used to believe that Garrus was a friend. Maybe the fact that she did not take him along a lot weighted in his decision to abandon her. But hey, she did take him to confront the salarian butcher and his team´s dissident; What a bunch of ungrateful people. It seems her only true friend was joker after all.
Now that my trilogy run as a sentinel is over, here are some thoughts:
In ME1, Lilian used Singularity as a bonus power. It was very tiresome to have access only to pistols. But I did like the deadly combination of powers. With a very reduced cool-down, the sentinel was deadly and I had no problems in dealing with any situation. I also specialized at having the stasis power allowing the enemy to take damage while immobilized. Had I equipped my pistol with freezing abilities and it would be like playing Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat. But instead I decided to go for damage. It was extremely easy at some points to use Kaidan´s stasis in addition to Lilian´s and hold enemies, while the others were dealt with by using lift or singularity. Most of the time all enemies were flying around or frozen. Ashley caused a lot of damage by using a snipper with exploding rounds on the lifted targets. Sometimes the explosion was so big that entire groups were caught in it. I felt sorry for Saren/Sovereign. The guy was suspended nearly the whole time or frozen while our powers regenerated. Ashley had the honors of delivering the final blow with her explosive snipper avenging the massacre that happened on the colony where she lived in peace. It took us about 16 hours to get the job done. ME1 is short if you don´t do the collectibles. But Lilian did research the matriach´s writings in order to save her number one fan.
Mass Effect 2 ended up being a non-intended speedrun. Once I figured out the cheesy exploit with the sentinel of triggering 2 explosions (pull+warp) in succession or using overload 4 times with Garrus and Miranda (It can nearly kill a geth prime on normal difficulty) the fights became unintended jokes. I would always pick the unprotected fool that was closer to his buddies so the initial explosion would damage several people. Then I reseted the powers, found another unprotected soon to be corpse and triggered another explosion. To add insult to injury, I usually used the bonus power dominate in one of the survivors.Lilian was more daring than a soldier class shepard. She ran towards the enemy as if she was a vanguard, but never feeling really threatened. I could almost hear her saying: "come closer, you bunch of idiots". Her battles with praetorians and the geth colossus were by far the easiest of any shepard I had. She became even more daring after she was able to use assault rifles. The exploit with the resetting of powers makes the sentinel, imho, the easiest class to use in ME2. My final time was 27 hours, including all side-missions.
ME3 took me 32 hours. Including all side-missions and DLC. I also made sure to complete all side-quests inside the arena, and even defeating the several clones combined. I used reave as bonus in order to trigger explosions. While tech-armor itself became much more versatile since the player could explode it when he or she desired, the lack of cool-down reset nerfed the class. It´s still good, but nowhere near as good as it was in ME2. One significant difference is that Lilian in ME3 relied a lot more on her weapon damage with pistols and smgs than in ME1 and 2. There was a healthy balance of using tech-armor, weapon damage and other powers in me3. Now that I´m through with Lilian, I can say that she in ME3 really incorporated the concept of versatility. The sentinel class indeed delivered what it promised.
This was truly a wild ride.

I didn't play today, as I've taken a mini-break from the game to start playing Life Is Strange, but I also did at least some things in the ME universe! I read Redemption and watched Paragon Lost and the bonus on the DVD ![]()
Might play 1 or 2 quick side missions now, that's all I've been really doing currently. Hope to get LotSB and Overlord done over the weekend.
Also it recently occurred to me that thanks to my Hammerhead frustration I've never completed the Firewalker stuff so far. Is it any good or will Youtube suffice? ![]()

What's wrong with the Hammerhead? It's easy to use, at least on xbox. Here is the Firewalker stuff. But, no, it is not worth watching. (I say that even though it's my own recording.

It´s a love it or hate it situation. After I mastered the controls (it isn´t hard) I started to love it.
Too bad you can´t customize it, like giving it a higher jump, more speed, faster sensors, better shields (much needed) or bigger guns.
I think it´s worth the effort. It gives you some nice upgrades, a few side-missions, and it´s also a required part of the Overlord DLC. Since I love to fight geth, it´s an irresistible preposition to me. Give it another try. You can also watch some youtube videos to learn how to use the vehicle in an effective way.

As for controlling the thing, I didn't have problems with it. Only slight frustration when mining materials and having Hammerhead leave the mining zone ![]()

It's made of tissue paper and most enemies are bullet sponges by comparison. Fights with it on insanity at least are spent taking potshots from miles away and abusing the enemy AI's poor targeting mechanics. It usually takes forever to kill anything (especially turrets or Armatures), and is the antithesis of fun. Mako sections were much better executed, which is saying a lot.

Well my main gripe is with jumping... jumping into lava
I must really suck at this because I always have trouble with jumps, same as during Overlord (but I love that DLC, so I force myself to do it) at Vulcan Station.
@cap and gown: I'll watch it a bit, and then decide if it's worth it
I started this mission twice so far, but I hate collecting the artifacts already, haha. I made it through to the next part of the mission as well, but at some point... lava. And from what I remember you can't save while using it, so I had to start from the beginning. I just switched off the console then ![]()

Your problem may be that you did Overlord without doing Firewalker first, since Firewalker is more or less the tutorial on how to use the Hammmerhead.

I never use biotic bonus powers on non-biotic classes. It's a house rule of mine that I think is much more lore-friendly than the default. I primarily use Lash as a detonator on Pulled enemies, more for style than power. I can sleepwalk through insanity on all but gimped builds so I'm looking for spectacle and fun and for me Lash delivers. So does an Engineer + Energy Drain, Infiltrator + Decoy, and so on.
