I never use biotic bonus powers on non-biotic classes. It's a house rule of mine that I think is much more lore-friendly than the default. I primarily use Lash as a detonator on Pulled enemies, more for style than power. I can sleepwalk through insanity on all but gimped builds so I'm looking for spectacle and fun and for me Lash delivers. So does an Engineer + Energy Drain, Infiltrator + Decoy, and so on.

I haven't be able to do that either. I can come up with a funny story from it though.. it's pretty valid roleplaying wise, where Shep is just some half-assed biotic. Maybe some powers better than others.

I've done a run with a soldier Shepard who had Slam in 2 and 3. I rationalised it as taking red sand because of the stress.

Yeah, red sand would play into my story too.. except it started much earlier (Earthborn). I'd probably make him quit though... maybe just a lingering effect from years of glue sniffing red sand use.

Lazarus Project is a great way to justify biotics :) Otherwise Mass Effect timeline mentions

2168 CE: Shepard receives secondary exposure to element zero. Permanent biotic inclination manifests.

2171 CE: Shepard is officially detected as a biotic and fitted with L3 implants.

2172 CE: April 11: Shepard enlists in the Alliance military.

Not sure where they got it from though. It's unlikely for certain origins. An Earthborn or a Colonist gets "detected as a biotic" and outfitted with top level implants (L3 implants were first deployed in 2170).

I would use Lazarus if I transitioned from half-assed biotic to a real class. Seems kind of silly if Lazarus only gave me a slam or barrier ability. :P

I always played my Earthborn biotics as being exposed at birth... but the "secondary exposure" is red sand and eezo smuggling. He's a gang member, after all. Sounds like something a street kid would try making money at. And since he was poor and didn't have implants in his teens, it only became apparent the more he was around eezo. Then he relied on red sand instead of amplifiers to enhance it.

Lazarus doesn't work for me as they wanted to bring Shepard back just as they were. Adding in biotics would change that.

Hmm.. since I got a PS3 version and have a lot of trophies to unlock, I think I'm gonna try to play at least 3 ME1 characters back to back. Hopefully I can commit to this. Soldier, Engineer, and Adept.. just to unlock everything. Never played Femshep before. Might make her the Engineer. Not sure..

Dahlia Shepard (Flare Infiltrator), still feeling rather hollow from losing the Quarians, traveled to a Fuel Reactor. She took out her lingering frustrations on some Reaper forces.

After seeing the Asari Councilor, she went to Thessia to recover an artifact. Thessia was quickly being overrun by the Reapers. With Javik and Liara in tow, she made it to the temple and discovered that the artifact was a Prothean beacon (and a Prothean VI) with information about the Catalyst. She also discovered Kai Leng had made it there first and wanted to fight. Kai Leng was a dodgy little butthole and evaded all her flares, but they eventually took him down... or would have taken him down if he hadn't gotten lucky and a bit crafty.

Losing the artifact, losing Lieutenant Kurin, and then having to deliver the bad news to the Asari councilor made Dahlia more than a little upset. Luckily, Traynor was able to track down Kai Leng's projected flight path and they have a new target. Unfortunately for Joker, Dahlia was still rather emotional when he cracked a small joke and Dahlia yelled at him. She feels bad about not knowing about his family; she feels worse for never having asked about his family before.

Liara nearly pounded Javik's head off his body. Dahlia told him to quit antagonizing Liara; she secretly wished he would stop antagonizing everybody. She has had just about enough of Javik's foul demeanor. Dahlia was able to comfort Liara with some inspiring words; she only wished she believed the crap she was spewing herself.

But Dahlia has no time for feeling sorry for herself. She has to go to Sanctuary and see if she can find Kai Leng and recover the Prothean data. Of course, it may be too late for that as she wasted a lot of time scanning a few more planets.

It's kind of funny denying Garrus recruitment in ME1. He's like a little puppy dog, hanging by the elevator, unemployed...treated with suspicion by Shepard.

*Don't worry. I'll put him on the team. I just like the way their story develops this way. Instead of instantly being pals and ****.*

From all that I've read, Red Sand would only give a heavy user some parlour trick biotics, nothing that would be useful in combat. Did Grayson ever display some real power before he got Reaperfied?

I don't recall. I read the books, but don't remember many details. He was shaped more by the detrimental effects, if anything. I only really believe it'd work well as an amplifier if you had latent biotic capabilities. The bit about it creating them from scratch is an asspull on my part. It's still eezo... I wonder why birth exposure makes so much of a big difference.

Sometimes I just assume Shepard is a default biotic who choose not to use bioamps because of some childhood trauma and....stuff.

I love how Renegade is always afraid of contagious diseases and catching things from people. His ME1 comment with Joker, the old lady on Feros, Thane, the dead human in Mordin's mission..

They already change him, at least for VanguardSheps...from a Chargeless "more like a squishy Adept than anything else" L3 to a badass "Freakin' Charging Bull in a Train" L5n.

Oh man... there isn't a bad CCR song. Not one. It's one of the few bands I say that about.

But I won't derail.  B)
