I'm not sure how the music on Tali's recruitment fits her character. The music on Samara's recruitment may be in that league, and the Monastery mission music seems very appropriate. Nevertheless, I just love how the music on Tali's recruitment gets my blood pumping.
Spoiler
Maybe not that one quite as much. It fits the mission more actually. Something about the opening percussion evokes like a "steamy" effect to me. I don't know..
Jack's is all over place... the opening evokes someone really notorious and tortured, then gets really fast when she breaks out.. Garrus sounds like a cop-on-the-prowl theme. Miranda sounds like something out of a Bond flick.. Kasumi has both Asian and "Intrigue" (like Miranda) motifs about it.
I'm a guitar player, but I'm not as good at capturing mood and subtle character traits like composers are. I'm envious..

Actually, just to add to the Tali theme comment.. I think to me Tali's personality comes through once the horns and synth kick in. It's like a heartbeat and a note of optimism amidst this steamy, tiring planet. There's fight in her yet.

AFAIK, there's no workaround for that bug. I'm pretty sure the game has skipped upgrades for weapons I hadn't equipped at the moment of the pick-up. And vice-versa (I've picked up mods for weapons I had equipped in that moment). It's just a matter of luck.
The only workaround I know is to finish picking them up in a NG+ (or NG++), which are unaffected by that bug.

Well, well, I finally could bring myself to actually do the Firewalker stuff. And uh... yeah, it is easy when you're not falling into lava
But it's still tedious somehow. Anyway, my point still stands: Mako > Hammerhead ![]()
Death count this time was high, 8 times, ouch. Played through Overlord and started LotSB, nearing the end! ![]()
Tali, Garrus and I landed on Aite and someone named Dr. Gavin Archer radioed us that the situation required immediate retraction of the transmission dish. We're dealing with a rogue VI and geth... such joy. We retracted the dish and to stop the VI from getting off the planet, we went to take care of the antenna in the dish by taking out capacitors (died twice here thanks to the Geth Prime and squad going down constantly
However I then also found out that it doesn't follow you down the stairs, make of that what you will, hehe). The whole thing came down though and we barely made it out.
Once inside the station we got more details from Archer, experiments to link a human mind to a VI in order to communicate with the geth... and they were using his own brother for this. Who would do something like that, isn't family the most important thing? I know mine was...
Anyway, to actually being able to deal with the VI we first had to manually override security from two other stations to gain access to Atlas Station. No trouble there, and we arrived at Atlas Station, proceeding until we reached an elevator to take us to the problem. I accessed some panel and now I'm in some kind of virtual reality?! Such a weird experience, and I had to move on alone. I saw flashbacks of Dr. Archer, and how his brother David tried to communicate with the geth. But I also witnessed how it led to what happened here, not very pleasant. I took another elevator and dealt with the VI (died twice here, geth crept up on me
also took 2 from the Geth Prime coming up in the elevator, and one from the Geth Hunter in the virtual world).
What I witnessed here was horrific, David hooked up to the core and tubes and wires everywhere... I felt sick by the sight, only thinking of helping this poor guy.
Dr. Archer arrived and I was ready to say all kinds of bad things to him. He showed remorse, but I will NOT let him near David again. I radioed Joker to make arrangements for him to be transferred to Grissom Academy. Poor kid...
With this taken care of I decided we would go see Liara next. Miranda, Mordin and I arrived at her apartment, but met Spectre Tela Vasir instead of Liara. She told us Liara was attacked, and we looked through her apartment to find clues. I saw that Liara kept a part of my old N7 armor... why? Is she that attached, or was it helping her overcome grief? In any case, it's definitely weird to see it sit like a trophy behind glass...
I found a conversation between Liara and a salarian called Sekat, which led us to the Dracon Trade Center.
As soon as we arrived a bomb exploded inside the building, and there were a lot of casualties. I can't help but think that Liara was inside all of this. Really hope she's alright.
We went in from the ground, while Vasir flew to the top to proceed from there. Everything went smooth and we teamed up with Vasir again after fighting through some waves of Shadow Broker agents. We found Sekat, dead, and Liara revealed herself, aiming her gun at Vasir. For a moment I was confused, but Liara claimed it was the Spectre who tried to kill her. I trust her, and Vasir immediately showed that Liara was right. She attacked and fled with the data we needed, while Liara frantically ran after her without us. Taking out more agents along the way we finally met up with her again, taking Miranda and a skycar to follow Vasir. The wild chase ended at the Azure Hotel. After killing more agents (another 2 deaths here, I so hate this section
) we followed Vasir, and her leaving blood stains indicated she was hurt. Can't say I'm sorry about that.
When we finally caught up with the asari, she grabbed a woman as a hostage. We dropped our ammo and she released her, then it was time to finish her off. She retreated from time to time, sending in reinforcements. They didn't stand a chance though, and neither did Vasir. Liara got the data and I listened to her going on about the Shadow Broker. She's deep into this whole thing, and pressed on to get to Feron right away. It's thanks to him and Liara I am standing here today, so I can only return the favor. We plotted course for the Broker's ship immediately.

Grunt is just the cutest
littlebig bundle of wanton destruction ever.
Spoiler
I was reading something earlier from Jack's actress.. She said without Shepard, her second choice for a "ship" would be Grunt. lol. (then she added it was Steve Blum more specifically).
Legion's actor said he'd ship with everyone.
Anyways, just finished Noveria. Liara talked me out of killing the Rachni. Then broke her heart after the mission by picking Ashley.

Mako is better than the Hammerhead only when it comes to shooting, since you can actually hit what you are aiming at. Hammerhead beats the Mako in every other category.
Also, still no idea which ending I am going to pick for Dahlia Shepard (Flare Infiltrator). Originally I was planning on choosing Destroy, but then I thought that Refuse would make a better ending for her. Basically she is constantly haunted by her past failures throughout ME3 -- along with a few new ones -- and then screws up and makes the ultimate failure.
But now I am thinking that Synthesis would be better for her. Make her last act achieve peace throughout the galaxy.
(For the record, I think all the endings are failure states, but... whatever. Fiction, right?)

Ok, this will be a lot, I progressed much further than I had anticipated (finished ME2
).
The shuttle brought us to the exterior of the Broker's ship. It's huge and impressive, hiding itself in the storm. We proceeded until we reached the door leading to the interior. While we waited for the door to open, we fought off more Broker forces (died thanks to Miranda
).
We could finally get inside and reached the prison area soon enough. And there was Feron, shackled and being tortured, so we hurried to get him out of there.
And then we finally confronted the Shadow Broker. He... it... is a yahg. Liara made the Broker really angry and Miranda was knocked unconscious.
Liara and I defeated the Broker (that fight is so ridiculous with the melee part, always a good laugh
Oh, and I also died once, but it's easy once I knew where to go, haha. Last time it was cool because I could constantly distract the SB with my Engineer drone).
It was done. Liara answered the incoming calls from the Broker's contacts, and... became the new Shadow Broker. I hugged her to calm her down. Then I had a chat with Feron to see how he was holding up. I also pried a bit into the lives of my squadmates and it was an interesting read, but I also learned some things that were very private and I felt nosy, I shouldn't have seen these.
With this done it was time to get the Reaper IFF. Miranda, Mordin and I boarded the derelict Reaper. Strange to be inside one. Through some video logs we found out what happened to the Cerberus crew here and I really want to get out as soon as possible.
To our great luck the ship activated a barrier, trapping us inside. So we needed to destroy the mass effect core, but that would mean the Reaper would fall as soon as we do so. Joker, I'm counting on you.
Then something unbelievable happened. A geth helped us by taking out husks with its sniper rifle. And not only that, it knows my name... what the hell. But no time to wait around for answers, enemies came at us in waves.
We managed to get the Reaper IFF and headed to the core. The geth was already inside, tampering with some panel, shooting husks. It was eventually overwhelmed and I shot the core (the Cain rules
Also: NO DEATH, woooo!), and we took the inactive geth and made it to the Normandy.
A debate with Miranda and Jacob broke out. No way I'll let Cerberus have the geth. I'd rather check it out myself, but maybe later. I haven't really made up my mind, but it'd probably be way too dangerous to activate it, even though it seemed friendly (sucks we don't have an option for simply saying we don't want to activate it...).
While we waited for the installation, EDI advised us to take off with the shuttle and squadmates, and Miranda notified everyone.
Upon returning, the Collectors had taken the whole crew and Joker had unshackled EDI so she could gain control over the Normandy again. Miranda was mad, and I had my concerns about the AI as well, but Joker did the right thing. We still have the ship.
I returned to the CIC to set course to the Omega 4 relay. I looked around me and it was strange to see everybody gone. I'm the only one left here right now.
I spent the last few hours in my cabin and made some final checks. Everything seemed in order and I've taken care of the loose ends for everyone. Except mine. I looked at Kaidan's picture. I've read his e-mail over and over again. But now... I need to get rid of it. It probably won't matter anyway, who knows what will wait for us behind the Omega 4 relay. I'm ready. I'll get this done or I'll die trying, there's no other option. With a sigh I deleted (head-canon
) Kaidan's e-mail, I won't need it anymore.
As soon as we went through the Omega 4 relay, something breached our cargo hull, so Mordin, Miranda and I took care of it. After some hassle we landed on the Collector base, but... we had lost Jack, Kasumi and Thane in the process. Sh*t.
We split up our team and I sent Tali through the ventilation shaft, while Garrus led the other team. He has leadership experience and I know he can do it.
Miranda, Mordin and I helped Tali along the way so she could proceed smoothly. Everyone met at the rendezvous point unharmed. Then we were in for a surprise as we discovered colonists and our crew in those pods! We helped them out immediately and Dr. Chakwas explained that the humans are being processed and pumped through tubes. This is where we have to go. Joker said he can pick up our crew and Miranda argued that we took a lot of casualties already and can't spare anyone to accompany the crew. I considered it for a moment, but decided to send Zaeed along with them. We didn't just rescue the crew to send them to their death.
To get through the Seeker swarms, Samara created a barrier with her biotics, her experience made her the perfect choice for this. I let Garrus lead the second team again and he kept us updated until we reached the second rendezvous point. So far, so good.
While Garrus, Tali, Jacob and Samara stayed behind covering us, Miranda, Mordin and I proceeded to the last destination. I couldn't believe what I saw. A Reaper in humanoid form. EDI provided some information, and seeing the remains of humans pumped through the tubes into this... thing, it made me sick. We need to kill it.
Shooting at the feeding tubes proved effective and the Reaper fell (died once here because flanked by Collectors, meh). The Illusive Man contacted us and tried to talk me into keeping the base. If he thinks I will preserve this abomination he has learned nothing about me. Even Miranda's loyalty to Cerberus is over, and she cut him off. With every intend to blow this place to bits I took care of this, but unfortunately the human Reaper had survived and now it's looming over us. We fired everything we got at this thing, and eventually took it down for good (while dying twice in the process
I'll never leave the middle platform again! I had found a nice cover spot on the right, but I had forgotten about the platforms being gradually destroyed, so I was shoved onto the next platform with the Reaper behind me, the Collectors in front of me and no good cover. That sucked.).
The place collapsed and the three of us were buried under rubble. I got out and helped Mordin, but my attempt to help Miranda was futile... she died in my arms.
But no time to dwell on it right now, everyone knew the risks and we need to get out of here now immediately. Mordin and I made it to the Normandy safely, and inside the other survivors were waiting. We actually did it...
That was a Suicide Mission alright!
I got all excited this time because I didn't know how everything would play out if I don't upgrade the ship at all!
RIP Jack, Kasumi, Thane, Zaeed and Miranda.
Will play Arrival tomorrow (probably not on Insanity though, wanna get through as fast as possible
).
Ah, and Hannah's look in ME2:

Weird. So I didn't romance anyone in ME1 this time, but Liara shows up in the ME2 intro as the ship is burning. Is this normal for PS3?
Hopefully I didn't get ninjamanced. I don't need any sappy hand-holding cutscenes.

I think that was a bug on PS3 if you were in a romance with someone, but if you haven't romanced anyone Liara is the default from what I know.
But no worries, it's just the "friendship" path, hahaha (I had the same last time I didn't romance anyone in ME1).

Actually Liara has some version of the "Spectre" armor that never made it in game. Its colored like Phoenix, but it's got asymmetrical shoulders. Kind of like Vasir's, but a little bulkier.
http://masseffect.wi...ar_Shadow_Works
I actually used her for the final level. Her and Garrus. I kind of roleplayed a falling out with Ashley... she killed Wrex. Now my Shep is gonna let guilt take over him and cure the genophage later.
Never cured it with Wreav before, but my hopes are that Grunt blows him away one day.
Err... but I'm getting ahead of myself. Maybe I'll lose my nerve. Wreav doesn't give me any hope whatsoever.
