Today I'm having a love hate relationship with Mako.

Spoiler

That is the true test of any Mako driver. Come out of that in one piece and nothing can stop you

Edit: Ah, I also think in your Sentinel video you mentioned James' last option for Carnage, a. deals 65% to armor, b. 50% to everything. Do you know more about that by now? I would think b. is the better option to pick here?

I always go with 65% and I use it on everything. The minor numbers don't mean anything to me. Everything dies equally fast in my rather aggressive play style.

Got the last ME achievement today: ME1 Medal of Valor. (The game still wont show as complete, though, because I don't have Pinnacle Station and can't get those achievements.)

This insanity run drove home just what a piece of crap the Mako is. The only time I died during the entire run was during the Mako segment on Virmire. Finally, I decided it was easier to just get out of the Mako and deal with the Colossuses and Armatures on foot since the Mako is perhaps the worst AFV in video game history.

Satana Shepard

- did Zaeed's loyalty mission

- did Grunts loyalty mission. Killed the worm, then went back to Earth to the Atlantic Ocean and used my fishing pole with the worm attached to the hook and caught Moby D**k

- did Mordin's loyalty mission. deleted the data

- went onboard the bug ship. Big ship.

Yeah, usually they die anyway, but it's fun to try different things. I might just go with the 65% too and maybe use Carnage only on enemies like brutes and the harvester or so and go with Vazgen's idea of using Fortification and grenades rather than Carnage in general.

I tried it out yesterday btw and I still need to get used to it (I totally wasted the grenades whenever I got one ), but the brutes went down quite well too with Warp/Throw combi.

Vaz, how exactly is Fortification used? I would still need to select it, right? (Totally forgot to try that yesterday, ahem, but I think James had it activated at some point)

And for now I have no idea if I should choose Power Synergy on Rank 5, but I'm tending towards it, I think.

If anyone is interested and/or would like to leave some more advices :) Here is the video I made when trying it out (@cap, I think I have caught all dialogue for James in here now :) Except for the second tower option, which I have already somewhere else). The last fight starts at 31:40.

Crap.... instead of a confrontation, just got ninjamanced by Liara. What the hell, I only flirted with her just ONCE. Maybe because she talked about its her first time and all.... That's it, I'm going to go back in time and not have that conversation. And Kaidan didn't we promised to meet up while on shore leave and have a lot of biotic monkey sex? How can you give up on me~~~~~??

So, last longer post about Reyes Shepard, after this I should be up to date.

Kelly informed Reyes that Thane wanted to talk to her, so she headed to the crew deck where he told her about Kolyat, his son that he abandoned 10 years ago in order to keep him away from Thane’s work. Apparently that attempt failed miserably in the end, as Kolyat seems to have gotten wind of his father’s actions and travelled to the Citadel where he took a job as an assassin. Maybe to feel closer to his father and to become more like him? Reyes agreed that he needed to be stopped, but couldn’t help blaming Thane himself for what happened. Willingly abandoning his family for almost a decade seemed cruel to her, especially since Kolyat was just a child at the time and had just lost his mother. Admittedly, she never had to deal with her family maybe finding out about some of the more despicable things that she’s done during her career. Of course she wouldn’t have joined the alliance in the first place, had her family still been alive, but the thought of being confronted about things like Torfan by her parents or her own hypothetical child wasn’t a very comfortable one nonetheless. She assured Thane that they would take care of Kolyat as soon as possible and then got ready for recruiting the last member of their team on Illium.

Reyes took along Grunt and Jack in order to recruit the Justicar, another biotic expert for the team that seemed to be some sort of religious warrior. Arriving on the spaceport the situation turned out to be quite tense: a Volus had been murdered and Samara was investigating and apparently abot to murder everyone who got in her ways or even looked at her the wrng way. The arrival of Shepard and Co. can’t have given people there much hope: her, Jack and Grunt getting out of that Shuttle at the beginning looked like serious trouble. Jack is wearing her biker clothes from the DLC by the way, her pre-loyalty outfit looks a little too ridiculous for my taste. After a short talk with the responsible police officer, Shepard and crew went to search for Samara and recruit her before the situation could escalate. It turned out she had everything under control and was perfectly willing to work with Shepard as long as she agreed to get the name of the ship that Eclipse used to smuggle a dangerous criminal off of Illium.

The fights in the Eclipse base were no problem and along the way Reyes met an Eclipse Asari who tried to talk her way out, but reached for her Shotgun when Jack pointed out that she’s wearing the enemy’s armor and they should simply shoot her. The shady Volus merchant Pitne For near the police station had mentioned that all Eclipse sisters wearing the armor were murderers, so Reyes didn’t exactly feel bad for shooting her. Especially after discovering that she was responsible for that other Volus’ death. Reyes also found proof for Pitne Fors’s illegal activities before encountering the biotic god and saving his life. Then they killed Wasea and brought everything they found to the police Asari and Samara, so she would finally join the mission against the collectors.
Reyes was a little skeptical of that whole Codex thing throughout the mission. Having your every action dictated by something like that takes away all responsibility for your own actions as well as the ability to even make your own decisions anymore – at least to a large degree. She certainly wouldn’t want to be a Justicar herself, but Samara definitely seemed to be a useful ally for the fights to come.

I also did Zaeed’s loyalty mission twice, the second time wearing the Inferno armor and trying to do as many paragon things as possible in order to get the persuasion option at the end, but it didn’t work. I knew I should’ve done that mission sooner, but I wasn’t sure what choice I should take, so I waited. Now Zaeed either dies on the suicide mission or in ME3… meh, I reloaded and might do the Citadel before attempting to do Zaeed’s mission again, Reyes will be more paragon there, but then again I don’t know if Zaeed’s loyalty is worth the trouble. I never take him along anyways and if I remember correctly, his mission in ME3 wasn’t great either. Also I have this little headcanon about him having a thing for Chakwas and having him die on the Suicide Mission while escorting her and the crew to the Normandy might actually be a nice end to his story. I’ll have to think about this for a while.

You activate it once and it stays toggled throughout the mission. As for rank 5, I usually go with shield recharge. Explosive Burst and Frag Grenades are powerful enough without extra power damage and shield recharge helps James to survive longer.

Oookay guys, I have played around a bit more and I think I will still go with Carnage, sorry, Vaz ^_^

I just took down a brute in 5 seconds  With Carnage -> Warp -> Throw. Not sure if something else happened before Throw or if it was just something from the squaddies, but damn, that was pretty awesome for me!

Video and my setup in the ranks here:

Spoiler

Another reason why I will only put points into Frag Grenade later on is that it is no primer, and not at all detonating with my biotics :(

What do you guys think? In general Carnage and Warp combo takes around 3-4 segments out of 10 from the brutes, plus Carnage has a cool afterburn (mwahaha) and with 65% more damage to armor in rank 6, brutes and banshees could be a cakewalk. I hope.

Shepard is not liking Warden Kuril. But retrieving Jack is the main objective. So they meet Bimmy getting the crap beaten out of him; then Prisoner 24601 who blew up that habitat one time and; Prisoner 24602 with screaming in his head which is nice for him. So, the question - is Billy (who sends Shep an email) one of these guys or some random, psychotic, serial killer that we don't actually meet?

Revka was annoyed that Wrex find its hard to believe that she killed a lot of tresher maws alone on Akuze because he couldn't believe a lone tiny female human could complete the equivalent of several Krogan rites of passage when many of his people failed.

Spoiler

So she make it a mission to find several planets with thresher maws to prove that she is legendary as they said. After the tenth maw or so, Kaidan and Wrex finally begged...

Spoiler

The Salarian councilor gave them a tip about Saren's activity on Virmire. But the moment Normandy touched down, they're stuck on the surface until someone could set a nuke. Coincidentally, Revka found a Prothean beacon and she received a vision update.

Spoiler

But not everyone is happy about it.

Spoiler

But in the end, Rev had to choose one~~~~

Spoiler

Back at the Normandy, Kaidan and Rev had a big argument in front of everyone. Since the romance theme was on, everyone isn't quite sure they want to get in between them except for Liara, of course.

After a mystical psychic session, Liara conveniently announced that the planet in the vision was Ilos. Revka frowned and asked why she hadn't said anything about Ilos and Liara deflect saying something about Mu relay linking hundreds of system.

Revka: "Wasn't Ilos a famous Prothean colony among Prothean researchers and the only way to get to it was through the Mu relay."

Liara : "Yes but..."

Revka : "You can't talk about possible Prothean ruins in that cluster or give me some info on known Prothean myths but you can only talk about Asari reproduction and look up my personal history online without asking."

Liara : "Uh.. yes but.."

Revka : "Did you say that you never mindmeld with anyone else but me. So basically, you don't know what you're doing."

Liara : "Well..."

Revka: "Tell me again why we cant trade her with the other Asari commando with the Prothean cipher?"

Kaidan : "She was indoctrinated by Sovereign, remember?"

Revka sighed but much to her horror, she was  manced. Nooooooo~~~~~~~~ but the universe is set alright because The-Power-That-Be have a good game-saving habit and she don't want to mess with a Renegade!Alenko. Besides, Revvie have a thing for fabulous static-induced hair bump...  :P

Satana Shepard

- got the IFF. I wanted to take a tour of the reaper, but it was past visiting hours. Oh well. Maybe next time

- Jacob's father got a knuckle sandwich. I can't believe that clown would do crap like that and expect it not to come back and bite him in the backside.

- the Garrus guy killed someone. Still trying to figure out why he would say just like old times

- went away and the crew invited the collectors on the ship. They decided to move the party to the collector base. So if I want booze and chips, I have to go to the base.

- rescued the crew

- I threw an asteroid into a relay. I'm as strong as Superman. Hmm. Maybe I can get Hollywood to make a show with me and call it The Adventures of Superfemshep. Yeah. I could go for that

I will now take my level 25 character to ME3

If you are taking James purely for his dialogue, and you are a biotic, then... sure, use Carnage since his grenades will not help you. If you want the best squadmates for a biotic Shepard, then any two of Liara, Javik, or Kaidan is best. I prefer Liara and Kaidan since their Singularity and Pull are so rapid, and you can use their Warp and Dark Channel on the tougher enemies.

With James, his Incendiary Ammo set to Squad and Explosive Burst is good and will set up fire combos.

But you also have to consider that his Carnage is on a pretty long cool down and he does not get any cooldown bonuses. So while his Carnage is good for priming a fire explosion, you are still better off using your own Warp+Throw twice, or mixing in Liara's Warp or Javik's Dark Channel or Kaiden's Reave.

Did the Tuchanka Bomb mission with Tali and Ashley. I wanted to see Tali's dialogue on the shuttle ride back (she is quite accepting of Victus's death) and how Ashley and Tali's dialogue differs after the mission based on whether Tali was on the mission or not.

Oh wow!  :o I love that ME3 has all these variations, it would take forever to play through and see them all. I don't think I've ever saved any of the secondary missions until after Rannoch. I had to reload before Tuchanka and save Grissom once (later found out what happens if you don't  ), I didn't want to risk that again. But I definitely need to try this for a future PT, I've never seen much of Tali's post-mission dialogue.

Today Shep headed down to an Ardat-Yakshi sanctuary with Tali and Ash. It feels good to be with the go-team again. Maybe one reason why I loved that video?  ^_^ It got off to an unnerving start: pitch black and shrieking in the distance. Definitely not helped by Ashley bumping into stuff and making everyone jittery. They ran into Samara, who seemed to be complete unfazed. Would anything ruffle that lady's stoic exterior? Probably not!

They encountered their first banshee and focused their fire to kill it. Ash's inferno grenades aren't that great, but they're good enough. Tali said "Poor Liara, it's good she's not down here." What. The human crew have had husks coming out the wazoo. Garrus has seen loads of marauders. Wrex encountered brutes. Plus there's lots of cannibals and ravagers around. Maybe it should be "poor Ardat Yakshi" who have been savaged by the Reapers?  -_-

Rila blew up the commandos' bomb, leaving Falere as Samara's only surviving daughter. Samara was about to kill herself because of that bloody Code, but Shepard stopped her. She wasn't pleased, but neither was he. Falere's already lost two sisters and presumably her father, and you want her to lose a mother too?  Thankfully, she came to her senses when Falere said she would stay.

Once, Samara told him that Morinth was the strongest and smartest of her daughters. It doesn't seem like it though. Both Rila and Falere proved themselves superior to Morinth today. Shep would put Rila's name on the remembrance board if he could, but he doesn't know where the name plaques are kept.  :P

Next he'll deal with the missing krogan scouts. Wonder if Wrex is fed up of waiting yet?

Yes, I take James for the dialogue. Little bastard crept into my heart in the last couple weeks and since I pretty much neglected him in my past ME3 runs on missions, this is the best time to do it :D

I will also take Kaidan on missions as soon as I get him back. Maybe rotate him with Garrus and/or Liara/Javik as well, don't know yet.

Yes! Incendiary squad ammo and Explosive Burst were the first things I used my points on :)

And I know Carnage is slow, sadly, but I think it's gonna be ok. From what I have tried out yesterday I think there's a good chance that Carnage will be ready again as soon as for example a brute is down, which would be a very good thing for me as James can prime the next target then. Or Kaidan primes and James detonates with Carnage when he's ready. EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE!

I just had a horrible realisation. I have had more story, characterisation and interest in an hour of this:

Yeeees, I love Life Is Strange! :) Can't wait for the next episode. Have fun with it!

The team touched down on Uttuku (?), the worst planet ever. Pretty sure that krogan and rachni are the only living things that could actually survive here. Shepard is getting used to krogan bull-rushing him, shouting “SHEPPERRRR!” It’s good to see his tank baby again, all matured and killing things. Shep was almost getting teary-eyed with pride.  :P

Tali snarked:  "Grunt is the perfect person for this fight, but I'm sure that hacking and electronics will be handy in a cave full of monsters". You’re here for moral support, Tali. Do you want the pom-poms and cheerleader outfit?

I think this is one of my favourite secondary missions. It’s definitely unnerving working through the caves, and every pod has to be destroyed with the flamethrower. I don’t like to leave any of those around. :? Shockwave was also useful for the first time ever. That power was definitely downgraded for ME3.

It seems that Ashley sees them as cockroaches, and Tali sees them as spiders. Have to side with Ash here. Those things look nothing like spiders. Trust me Tali, spiders are worse.  It probably didn’t help that she rushed on ahead and got  herself surrounded by the critters. Lucky she has a fancy new shotgun.

Shepard and team had to crawl through a ‘narrow space’ to get to be main cavern. Better you guys than me. I wouldn’t fancy meeting any of those crawlers in the space. I’d rather wait for the Normandy to airlift me out of the first area. :P They defeated all the Reaper forces in the area, before chatting to an obviously indoctrinated rachni breeder. Shep opted to leave it behind. Agh, it always annoys me that recruiting the rachni queen is a paragon choice, but recruiting the rachni breeder is a renegade choice. No consistency.  -_-

For one worrying moment, Shep thought that he’d lose Grunt to ravagers, but nope. The perfect krogan made his way out, covered in blood and craving a barbeque. Shep will treat you to dinner on the Citadel. It’s almost too bad he never got to recruit Okeer. The guy was nuts, but clearly talented!

There was an email from Wrex awaiting him on the ship. Would that email still be sent if Wrex was killed? Awkward! The second was from Bray, saying “at least there’s one batarian who doesn’t want you dead.” Aww, thanks. You’re one batarian Shep doesn’t want dead! Now they need to deliver a ‘last goodbye’ from a poetic krogan to his asari lover. That gets me every time.
