So, the weekend is gone and all I did was piece together and collect James dialogue... which included playing the Suicide Mission in ME2 again (twice actually because apparently I did not know what I did the first time around
). Things I had to do in order for more Vega dialogue: kill off Tali, Jacob (hey, at least I got to witness his great Gravity line in the first round again
) and Mordin, preserve the Collector Base and keep Jack alive. For fun I also didn't send anyone to escort the crew, whoops!
I think I need some serious help, but I'm probably beyond that already
I think the worst is that I even came to terms with killing Kaidan at some point for Ash's and James' hookup during Citadel DLC (ok, I might not kill him directly since I can start ME3 directly with that choice, but still!). Oh. And romancing Garrus and others for James' relationship questions. I'll see you guys in a year, or 2, or 3 ![]()
Today I did at least a bit of crew talk and N7: Cerberus Attack!
Video here, was sooo lucky at one point because I did not see that Cerberus f*cker was still alive...
While I was checking up on the crew once more, I overheard Adams saying he let me and everyone on the memorial wall down by not joining us back then with Cerberus. Chakwas tried to comfort him, telling him that not everyone from our old team supported our cause, neither Kaidan nor Liara did. Seems he listens to her, good. She was right about that.
Liara had lost hope a bit too. I told her to keep fighting, we need to.
When I went to the Citadel I actually met Steve there. So he took my advice, glad to see. We talked a bit about the ships passing by, and then he mentioned the memorial wall put up by refugees on the Citadel. He might do something for his husband there. I hope he can get past this thing, it can be bad, reliving old wounds and memories. I wasn't so good at that either... but let's see, I will support him no matter what.
After that James got his wish to see Tuchanka, as Liara, him and I touched down there to get rid of more Cerberus troops who had taken over an old military facility there. We fought through the first wave and tried to seize control of a big cannon. Cerberus cut the power, so we headed out to reactivate the power modules. After some more fighting Cortez gave me the coordinates of a nearing Cerberus cruiser and we took it down with the cannon.
Back on the Normandy Traynor asked me to see Adams and then told me she likes to play chess. I told her we might just have to try a game. Should be fun to relax a bit.
Adams and Kenneth argued about what EDI is. I threw in my 2 cents and then Adams told me he needed something picked up from the Citadel, so I'll look for it next time I'm there. Steve and James had a bit of banter about piloting skills. I really like listening to those two.
Hahaha, when Steve gets all excited about how the Cerberus cruiser went down, and James just says "Sometimes I worry about you, man." ![]()

(Not today but whatever)
Renegade God Complex/power hungry Shepard playthrough
I went on Rannoch to save an Admiral, turns out he didn't want me to save him. Who am I to argue? Goodbye Admiral Koris.
I then entered the Geth Consensus and got rid of a Reaper infection.
After that, I had to destroy a Reaper base. Turns out it was an actual Reaper. Oh the Geth VI informs me that it can make all Geth individuals and that they can help with the war.
Admiral Raan: Commander, you can't choose the Geth over the Quarians!
Shepard: Of course not.....
Shepard: Geth VI, allow the upload. ![]()
Admiral Raan: Ah f*** me *gun shot*
Yet another species to fall because of Shepard. I believe that's third species now.
Oh well, time for Shore Leave! Wait what's that? A clone? He dead. Brooks tries to escape? Not on my watch. She dead.
The crew wants a party? We're in the middle of a war, there's no time for that. We should go get Ann Bryson now.

Tristan "fail-shep" Shepard went out in a blaze of delusional glory, turning everyone in the galaxy into a green husk after allowing TIM to kill Admiral Anderson. The galaxy's new overlord, the Enhanced Defense Intelligence, comforted Tali in her grief at still not having a decent immune system despite the green eyes, and then proceeded to order the galaxy to spend the rest of their lives computing PI.

This is a long entry!
The start of the Rannoch arc was ominous today. Legion proposed that Shepard enter the geth consensus. Ashley was vehemently against it (Tali was strangely quiet - maybe she's open to the idea?), and Shep was pretty reluctant (remember Overlord? ). Legion employed a bit of guilt-tripping to convince Shep to trust them. Sneaky, Mr Roboto, very sneaky. ![]()
Legion dropped out of the shuttle and smacked into the ground like a hunk of metal. I always love little things like that, which emphasise the differences between organics and synthetics. Not necessarily better or worse... just different. Although I like EDI, she's often a little too.. human-y. I also love how Shepard moves around while the pod is inserting them into the consensus, so Legion has to tell him to stop figeting like a child.
Inside the consensus was weird and unsettling. Shep didn't like it, though he does think Legion has a career in games design, when this is all over.
They gave Shep a virtual gun, geth know what gamers want! I kept getting lost, so it all took longer than it should.
Legion showed him the geth's memories, and Shepard learnt that building AI is not a good idea. What a shock!
Once he escaped, Legion revealed that they'd recruiting Primes while shutting down the consensus. Shep was annoyed at the secrecy, but having big robots on their side would be a plus, so he let it slide.
Back on the ship, there was a funny little banter between Vega and Javik in the mess. Nice trolling, Javik. I like his laugh. I'll admit Vega was pretty sweet in that conversation. Javik wasn't pleased about the consensus thing. I bet if ME had disapproval, I'd often be in negative numbers with him! Ashley was hungover in the observation room, and barely lucid. ![]()
They then headed down to save Admiral Koris. I was pretty sad to learn the quarian who dies (Dorn?) has a son... the same son whose mother dies on the Alarei? They took out the AA towers easily, plus the waves of geth. I found a new route round the platforms to avoid one turret gun, so Shep barely took a hit. Steve then showed off his combat skills by shooting the tower. Naturally, Shepard saved Koris instead of his crew. The Admiral can do a lot more good up there than a handful of randoms. Though one day, I'll do a FailShep (no charm/intimidate ever) and save the crew. Just after that, he popped to the Citadel to have a proper conversation with Ash, and rekindle their relationship. ![]()
Finally, it was time for the big Rannoch assault. Legion revealed that they still have Reaper code installed. This time, Mr Roboto and Shepard parted on sour terms.
The one geth Shepard trusts, and they're lying to him. It doesn't bode well. Shep gave Tali a piece of Rannoch rock to keep her going until Rannoch is reclaimed, and made himself a promise to come back here and help her build a house someday. After all the fighting is done, he'll need a break. ![]()
Tali's combat drone and the Arc Pistol make quite a nice combo. It stuns them long enough for me to get a good shot. Is it just me, or is Rannoch a lot shorter than Tuchanka? I feel like there isn't a lot to say. Perhaps it's because I was dreading my least favourite part of the whole trilogy (combat-wise). Fighting the Reaper with the orbital targeting gun... thing. Since it usually takes me 7+ attempts on Normal, this time I switched it down to Narrative difficulty and completed the fight in one go. Not ashamed to admit that. I don't know what it is about that fight, but when the Reaper fires, Shep will always do like one roll, then just jog sideways. Instead of multiple rolls. So Shepard gets eviscerated a lot and puts me back at square one. On the easiest difficulty, the Reaper can't aim for sh*t, and it's all good!
There was a tense moment when Legion started to upload the Reaper code, but Shepard shouted the Fleet into submission. I notice that Shepard doesn't actually say goodbye to Legion, but it was similar with Mordin. Tbh, I'm not sure what words would be sufficient.
Tali and Legion had their final bonding moment, and then it was over. The quarians have a home again, but they have to share with the geth. Hopefully the peace will last long enough for them to fight the Reapers. Tali is joining Shep permanently, so at least there are more adventures with his favourite ladies ahead. ![]()
It occured to me for the first time today... the geth and EDI die during Destroy because they have Reaper code in them, right? Rather than it just effecting AI in general? So whatever is in the tubes identifies them as Reapers, I guess.

Ok, back to serious work ![]()
Today I rescued the Primarch's son and talked to the crew some more!
Together with James I brought along Javik for the first time. We were up against Reaper forces as we were on our way to rescue the Primarch's son, whose ship went down on Tuchanka. We helped some turians on the way, but many were already dead as well. We were up against harvesters, but we managed to get surviving turians out alive and reached our destination soon enough. Tarquin Victus thanked us for the help and briefed me on the situation. His men blame him for a decision that ended up being a mistake. I told him that making hard decisions and dealing with the consequences is what being a leader is about.
He agreed, but when I learned that he wants to abandon their mission and that they were sent to disable a bomb I got angry. To make it worse, Cerberus has it. Telling Victus to finish the mission only resulted in me yelling at him to motivate his men and get this done. Sometimes you gotta be a tough leader, I learned that early on. Get the mission done with efficiency. Victus understood that and delivered, but he still asked me for help with the bomb though, since his squad has been pretty much decimated. The bomb in Cerberus' hands is no joke, so we will head there next.
Back on the Normandy I updated Hackett, and the Primarch thanked me for saving his son, but I was p*ssed he didn't tell me about the bomb. I get it, and distrust is usually my thing, but times like these? I don't really have another option but to put my trust in Victus and this alliance. We're all screwed without.
Mordin came over and told us the cure is as good as ready. He came up with the idea to spread it with the help of the shroud on Tuchanka. It's how the turians first spread the genophage. Pretty clever.
I had a chat with Anderson and checked on the crew once again. Liara and Garrus had settled in the lounge, catching up a bit, and Javik was pretty hard on Tarquin Victus. He told me what he would've done back in his cycle for the stupidity Victus had shown. Well, I can say I'm glad we're not in his cycle, even though he also painted a picture of a Tuchanka that must have been very beautiful back then...
All in all it went down ok, but I definitely need to work on my take-down-Harvesters-skills ![]()

Today I took a break from ignoring Mass Effect 3 by playing Mass Effect 3.
Jen Shepard (Biotic/LashSlam Soldier) met up with an old friend named Aria, and together they took a roadspace trip to a little space station called Omega. After (literally) crashing a party on Omega, the two of them toured some of the sights on the station, and even ran into one of Aria's friends named Nyreen. Eventually they made it to a rest stop where a lot of Aria's other friends were hanging out. Then Nyreen left a little early to run an errand.
After the short break, Aria and Jen went to go meet some of the locals, and ran into Nyreen who was ready to join them again.
And that's when the game crashed and I could not be bothered to restart my Xbox. Next time I guess...
I am still having trouble finding a good weapon for this playthrough. The Saber would probably be the ideal choice, but I won't be getting that until right before the end of the game because the developers made (in my opinion) a really bad design choice. I think I have settled on using the Valkyrie for the time being, but that will probably change.

Picked up where Jen Shepard (Biotic/Slam Soldier) left off, having just ran into Nyreen for the second time.
Anyway, the Shep Pack did a little more sight-seeing on Omega, while taking the time to kick out all the Cerberus rowdies along the way. Stopped for a quick bite to eat at Nyreen's hangout before heading back to Aria's place, then took a little trip to see Omega's mines*. Even got to play around with some toy mechs. Then Shepard pressed a big red button and the power went out. Oops.
Nyreen had to take off, so Aria and Shepard went shopping for supplies. Shepard found a couch.
* Ran into a nice glitch, where after the cutscene of Shepard rolling through the force field hole, Nyreen's character model somehow ran outside the force field and just stood there while Aria ran around shooting inside the force field.
I stopped playing right around the part where you have to disable the bombs. I started dying a lot there for some reason and I was getting frustrated. I was not having fun so I shut the Xbox off. I have not had much fun playing Mass Effect 3 lately. Not sure why. Maybe I am getting burnt out on the game or series, I just don't know. I will try to pick it up again over the next few days since I am on vacation. We'll see.
