Seems that biotic Shep isn´t my cup of tea in ME 3 either.

Biotic Shepard with a big chip on his shoulder since he got revived*, visited the Citadel yesterday, killed a pale copy and invited the annoying Brooks to stay on his ship as a corpse.

Today he met the next Cerberus rat asking for Alliance custody. He was a bit dissapointed that he didn´t get to kill Petrovsky himself but well, Aria had a bigger claim. Shep´s thoughts on this issue were: Dude, your soldiers got Reaper implants, probably against their will,** you used adjutants which were former Omega citizens, threw the civilian population into Gulags and I am pretty sure, Cerberus already planned to turn them into Adjutants. And now he protests that he gets murdered in cold blood. Lucky that Aria got you, I would have turned you over to Javik for a traditional prothean punishment for traitors.

Only deal any Cerberus rat gets, is a bullet in the back and a quick death, if I have anything to say about it. <_<

*used my playthrough from ME 1 where he was full Paragon, mostly renegade in 2 and 3 (didn´t kill the Omega civilians and I didn´t treat all of my squaddies like dirt). Uh and he changed from vanguard to adept. Something defnitely went wrong, Miranda. ;)

**haven´t been to Horizon yet

*I feel like I should preface this by saying that I had the day off

Sheploo

- Landed on Ilos
- Got confused and lost in the overgrowth but made my way to the surprisingly still working elevator shaft.
- Shot some Geth
- Got into the archives and chased after Saren
- Got trapped
- Had a long, interesting chat with a Prothean VI
- Heroically made a run for the relay
- Heroically landed on a burning Citadel
- Heroically fought my way to the Council Chambers
- Talked Saren down but then he shot himself. Good riddance.
- Heroically opened communication with the fleet
- Heroically held back the human ships until they could get a shot at Sovereign
- The Destiny Ascension blew up and the Council was lost
- Saren came back to life!
- Heroically killed him again
- Sovereign ded
- A new council will need a new leader so naturally I put the guy least likely to enjoy the job in charge. Good luck, Anderson!
- *heroic pose*

- Heroically died
- Revived
- Where the eff am I?
- TWO YEARS?
- What the hell is happening?
- What a tiny little colony.
- Hi Tali!

- Bye Tali!
- Man, I don't trust you, Illusive Man. Especially because you call yourself, "The Illusive Man."
- JOKER!!
- THE NORMANDY PART TWO!

- This Normandy is awesome
- Hi Ambassador Anderson. Sorry I put you in a job you hate.
- Where's Ashley?
- Oh, it's you, Udina. See, Anderson? This is why I put you in charge.
- Damn Volus. Here's your credit chit.
- "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store on the Citadel!"
- Ashley? Who's Ashley? This Miranda person sure knows how to fill out a skintight bodysuit though.
- Aria, you're a ******.
- Archangel is Garrus! I missed you, buddy. Sorry about your face.

Really starting to hate her crew, Jen Shepard (Biotic/Slam Soldier) decided to hide away in Armax Arsenal Arena combat simulator. Unfortunately for her, the arena staff hates squatters and turned the simulator on to force her out. Angry at being discovered -- and even angrier that her crew found her hiding spot -- Jen fought against whatever the arena staff threw at her.

At one point, the arena staff offered to give her a suit of armor if she left quietly, but none of the suits of armor she was offered was any good so she decided to stay where she was. At that point, the arena staff increased the difficulty of the opponents. Eventually, Jen decided to leave after a particularly tough match that she was sure was designed to kill her.

Jen is now glad to be out of the simulator, but is now back on the Silver Sun Strip where a bunch of squadmates are waiting for her to waste her time. Jen Shepard is seriously regretting the day she ever laid eyes on the Normandy. Of course, this is all Captain Anderson's fault. And probably Admiral Hackett for assigning her to Anderson's command all those years ago. Maybe she should have become a farmer instead.

You know that even if Jen hid really well and couldn't be found they would just get Liara on her trail. No escaping that bloodhound. :P

Having been kicked out of the combat simulator, Jen Shepard (Biotic/Slam Soldier) was back on the Silver Sun Strip, where a bunch more of her whiny squadmates were there to annoy her:

  • Jacob wanted her to play a game. She kicked his ass just to get him to shut up. But then he took her to lunch (Sushi again? Ugh.) At least he paid.
  • Joker tried getting free beer. She put an end to it when she realized he was only getting beer for himself; she felt like she needed a stiff drink.
  • Kolyat decided to hold a funeral in her new apartment. He told her at the last minute she was to give a speech about Thane. She liked Thane, always detonating her Slam for some sweet Warp bombs. Good times.
  • Liara decided to crash at her apartment and play her piano. She made a mental note to sterilize the piano before chopping it into firewood. Unless the piano is a collector's item so she can sell it on the Extranet.
  • Kaidan dropped by and made her dinner. A Canadian delicacy he called it; 100 years later and it is still poutine.

Jen finally had enough and ran away to another part of the Citadel... where it was all "Did you bring my fossil?", "What about my treatment plan?", and "What about my Prothean artifact?". It is like she is surrounded by children!

She finally stumbled into Ambassador Udina's office, where she was greeted by the Asari Councillor. She wants Shepard to go to Thessia and pick up an artifact for her, but that artifact is apparently crucial to winning the Reaper War. So unlike the denizens of the Citadel or her incorrigible crew, the Asari Councillor actually offered something back in return for her help.

So it is off to Thessia! This should be quick and painless, right?

I went to London as Adept. Though I died only twice,it was very hard. I killed all the Brutes without difficulty but I could kill only one Banshee. I was always running until I could find a place to cover and fire a few shots at the Banshees. They always focused on me.
I forgot that I needed to run always as a biotic :) (except Vanguard, charging on Banshees is fun :))
On this run, stay alive, that's enough :)

Edit: I found out that all it takes is a gaming mouse with which you can change dpi very easily between the husks and the Marauder before the beam. A high dpi for the husks and a very low dpi for the marauder saves you from dying there. That part became the easiest. I don't die there any more, not once.

Completed my ME2 Insanity run after two weeks of being unable to play due to a small problem in file naming (odd one, but found the solution)

It started out real rough, jumping right into Insanity with a fresh ME1 save, but after the half-way point the only enemies I feared were "boss" level entities, them Collector... beatle looking bugs with the weird name being the worse. Also, in one run, got all the achievements again (un-installed and reinstalled trying to fix the game during my two weeks of being unable to play, reset achievements), The Sentinel Class is quite useful, and setting so squadmates only use attack powers on your command was useful to learn.

Now flitting through ME3 Insanity, got two achievements left to acquire, which need to be gotten on Insanity. enjoying the challenge, makes it feel tiny bit more realistic... a previous playthough I was shotgunning everything dead in a shot or two.

Got to say, doing the "Insanity" run of Mass Effect has been quite fun.

The Citadel Dlc. I fought with my clone and threw the party after that, a quiet and a relaxing one.

Fighting with my clone was very hard as adept. I died like 6 or 7 times on the Normandy. At least Wrex took care of the other enemies but he also drained my 8 Medi-gel very quickly, very often.
Switching from an infiltrator who uses a sniper rifle to adept who is a biotic isn't easy. At first I had difficulty when the clone came closer to fight melee because I didn't expect that. By the time I got used to her tactics, I had died many times. I don't like melee attacks :)

The fight as an Adept is annoying because the clone seems to have little cool-down time. It was spamming me with Warp until Wrex came and gave it a good smack.

Hey guys, not sure if anyone remembers Nathan Shepard, the older guy with grey hair, I started back in May (probably about 40 pages back by now). I didn't have much time to play ME lately and even less time to write about it so it took a while to finish the next bit and it's not exactly what I played "today" either. But since I did continue my little writing exercise, I thought I might as well post it here again.

Just as a little reminder, back then the story stopped on Feros, so that's where we jump back in and it's time for some action :):

Spoiler

Yea, so the whole thing got a bit gory. I usually don't like over the top disgusting stuff but for this, I thought it was needed. Always imagined that fight to be much more gruesome than it could be shown in the game itself.

Didn’t play any ME for quite some time now and only picked it up again today for about an hour. I think I should get going again though, with the game as well as with these posts. Here are the last few things Reyes did, should be a little shorter for once. Forget I said anything. -_-

Reyes, Tali and Kasumi boarded the Rayya where Tali’s former captain informed them about the charges against her. Tali was accused of smuggling active geth parts onboard the flotilla, but she quickly assured everyone that she only sent deactivated parts home to her father. Reyes believed her, but apparently the admirals didn’t, eventhough Tali’s father was one of them. He didn’t seem to be present at court, though and Admiral Shala’Raan didn’t want to talk about him either when she greeted Tali – and informed her that she would be accused as Tali’Zorah vas Normandy, making Shepard her advocate in the upcoming trial. Reyes didn’t like that development at all – it seemed a bad sign that Tali was assigned to a non-quarian ship with a captain who didn’t have any idea about the quarian legal system. Unfortunately there was no way around playing the role of Tali’s lawyer during the trial and with the limited time they had until the hearing, Reyes would probably have to improvise and sway the admirality’s opinion her own way.
There seemed to be a lot of infighting going on with the various admirals each pushing their own political agenda, so Reyes did her best to get them to focus on the actual subject of the process and remind them that she couldn’t have stopped Saren, his geth and the reapers without Tali’s help and that she was a hero who would never have risked to endanger the flotilla. Unfortunately, the admirals didn’t want to listen and one of them brought up that due to Tali’s supposed crimes, her father’s lab ship had been overrun by geth and her father was assumed dead. Tali was shocked and while Reyes told the admirals what she thought of them holding back such vital information, Tali decided that they had to take the Alarai back and save her father. The admirals approved of her plan and while Tali was primarily driven by her worry for her father, Shepard and Shala’Raan agreed that they had to find evidence of Tali’s innocence somewhere on the Alarai.
Reyes talked to the admirals and some familiar faces that were present at the hearing, trying to get some additional information about the background of Tali’s trial and her father’s experiments, but no one seemed to know for sure what he had been up to on that ship.

Onboard the Alarai they found lots of geth and dead quarians and it became more evident with every recording they found that Rael’Zorah had purposefully activated the geth in order to test possible hacking techniques that he planned to use in the war for Rannoch. Tali didn’t want to believe it, but Reyes and Kasumi soon realized that the admiral was the criminal that would be held responsible for all this once they found the last bit of evidence they needed. It turned out that they wouldn’t be able to take Rael’Zorah to court, when Tali found his liveless body in one of the corridors of the Alarei however.
She had a breakdown and started crying and accusing him. Not of what happened on the Alarai, but because he had never been a loving father to her, that he always pressured her to become a leader and a soldier like him, expecting nothing but the best and in the end leaving her with nothing but a terrible disaster he caused while trying to give her the homeworld he had promised to retake. Reyes didn’t know what to tell her, but she tried her best to get Tali back on track and make her father’s death seem less like the result of his own arrogance and stupidity and more like a sacrifice for his people and family. Tali didn’t know if the thought of him doing all this in order to prove his love for her was any more comforting than assuming that he never cared for her in the first place.

In the end they eliminated every geth on the ship and found the evidence that would convince the admirals of Tali’s innocence, but she begged Shepard not to use it. Presenting the evidence would lead her father to be deleted from all of the flottila’s records and to be seen as nothing more than a monster by the people he was trying to give back their homeworld for all of his life. She would not be able bear the thought of her father’s memory being tainted like that and would rather accept her own exile. Reyes saw her point, but Tali was still traumatized by finding out about her father’s death and would have thrown her own life away for a dead man who didn’t deserve her giving up everything for him. Not in Reyes’ opinion.

When they returned to the Alarai, the admirality was ready to pass judgement. For Tali’s sake, Reyes decided to make one last attempt at convincing the admirals without the evidence, before she would prove Rael’s guilt. She called all of them out on their political games and how they were abusing Tali’s trial In order to manipulate the quarian public without acknowledging that she was not only a hero, but also the one who took back the Alarai. Reyes didn’t hold back with anything and she demanded them to trust Tali’s word instead of exiling one of their best in an attempt to push their own agendas. The admirals didn’t seem to be prepared for a speech like that and when the crowd seemed to take Tali’s and Shepard’s side, they had no choice but to judge her not guilty.
After the trial Tali thanked Shepard for her help and said that it was fun watch her yell at the admirals. Reyes told her she deserved something better than a show trial like that, to which Tali responded that she already had something better: Shepard. She seemed relieved that everything was over for now and eventhough Tali would need some time to get over what happened, the mission was a success. They took their leave after saying goodbye to everyone and tali seemed to have a little bonding moment with Kal’reegar, when she asked him to just call her Tali instead of “Ma’am”. Shepard didn’t give the admirals any advice on how to deal with the geth and Rannoch during her presence on the Rayya. It was up to the quarians to decide their future, a human's voice shouldn't have any weight, and both outcomes seemed to have the potential to lead to either success or disaster.

Back on the Normandy Tali apologized for drawing Shepard into quarian politics, eventhough the trial apparently could have gone way worse. She also mentioned that some people put her forth as a possible successor to her father as an admiral, but she didn’t seem too fond of the idea and Reyes agreed that it didn’t seem like a smart choice. Tali was capable, yes, but in no way ready for an enormous responsibility like that. Her father had already put enough pressure on her when he was still alive, to have it continue now that he was gone had a bitter irony to it. Reyes didn't want for Tali to suffer under those astronomic expectations towards her - she knew the feeling and no matter how strong of a person Tali had become, she was still far from being as hardened as Shepard.

Reyes also destroyed a mech facility on Capek after that and continued the search for Dr. Cayce and Dr. O’loy who were involved in the Firewalker project. Headcanon: Jack loves driving around in the Hammerhead and exploding stuff with it.

Serenity Shepard is painfully aware of the risks of the war against the reapers, because she knows that if her 'guardian angel' is not paying attention for even one second, it is literally game over for her.

So it was with some trepidation that she agreed to have her mind injected into the Geth Consensus today in order to try to give a little breathing room for some Quarian liveships. She faced the trials of Grissom Academy, and the adversity of a reaper and about 6 brutes on Tuchanka, but that can't possibly compare to the danger of a mission in which you mind-meld with an AI.

She's looking forward to getting back to something straightforward afterwards, such as taking out the reaper base on Rannoch, or even a quiet dinner a deux with Joker on the Citadel...

Hey, thanks. Glad you enjoyed the read. Yea, although all the creepers just disintegrate when you shoot them, I always thought that battle should have Starship Trooper like gory scenes, so I did take some liberties when writing it up.

I almost always actually do the shotgun thing in game though, these dam creepers can be pretty dangerous up close otherwise.

Do the sniper rifles really knock them down as well, even the low level ones without special ammo mods? I didn't know that! Gotta try it on my next playthrough. :)

As for the green Asari, I wanted to integrate her into the text somewhere but I couldn't find a good spot and I didn't want to write a whole extra paragraph for her. I think they might have killed one of them, just before the scene starts. :P

The sack here is actually not the sack, Shiala is in but rather one of the nerve nodes you need to destroy in order to defeat the Thorian. I think they kinda look like sacks as well.

EDIT: Just looked at a screenshot and they are actually connected to a whole lot of tubes. Didn't remember that right, so I guess my description there is a bit off.

A really great post MrFob!

And some good stuff from you as well, Will-o'-wisp.

Jen Shepard (Biotic/Slam Soldier) traveled to Thessia to pick up some artifact. Jen wanted to go alone, but Liara started whining and complaining and then inserted herself into the mission. Javik was in the washroom, so Jen took Kaidan to go along as well.

Steve Cortez had one job: drop them off at the temple. Steve failed at his job and dropped them off in a spot away from the temple. His stupidity was made even more annoying when they made it to the temple and found a large area where the shuttle could have landed.

Jen met lots of the blue-skinned and purple (or mauve? or violet?)-skinned aliens along the way. She even saw some Asari with red skin and black skin, but those Asari were just bleeding and burnt to a crisp.

They finally made it to the temple and activated a Prothean beacon by pressing a bunch of very large and obvious switches. The artifact turned out to be a Prothean VI, which did not tell them what they wanted to know because voice recognition software is still terrible.

And then Captain McStabby showed up and tried to skewer everyone with a sword. When that did not work, he brought in a gunship to help out. Gunships are bad at stabbing, but are good at shooting and blowing stuff up. After the gunship did all the hard work, he walked in, grabbed the artifact, and took all the credit.

* * *

Back on the Normandy, everyone was mad that some organization named after a fictional dog had stolen the artifact. Luckily, Specialist Traynor -- the only one aboard the Normandy besides Joker who Jen thinks is actually useful -- managed to track The Stabby One to the planet Horizon. Seriously, you couldn't do that EDI? You are a freaking supercomputer!

Captain Anderson called just to chat. "Just to chat" = waste everyone's time. Seriously Anderson, you accomplished nothing. Neither you nor Jen was better off for that conversation.

Jen then had to go down and stop an argument between Javik and Liara. And by "stop", I mean she waited until Liara stopped yelling at the grouchy Prothean and went crying back to her room. Jen then went to the Normandy's lounge bar and drank heavily.

Jen Shepard (Biotic/Slam Soldier) woke from her drunken stupor with a massive headache and smelling like poo. She was not sure if she dreamt running naked through the Normandy CIC or if that actually happened. She also may or may not have peed in the airlock. And took a massive dump in the airlock. And threw up in the airlock. What the heck did she drink?

She was in the shuttle with Javik and Liara. They were still not on speaking terms after their argument, which meant that Jen should get a little more peace and quiet on this mission. So that is a positive at least.

So apparently they were on Horizon, landing at Sanctuary. She threw up again and her vision spun. Couldn't her squad complete this mission without her? The whole lot of them are useless...

* * *

So Miranda's father's name is Henry Lawson. Same last name. Hmmm... Suddenly Miranda seems like a huge idiot. Gee I wonder how he managed to track down her sister Oriana? Probably because she had her keep the same last name. How the heck did Miranda manage to run the Lazarus Project anyway? Probably off the backs of some extremely smart and talented people and took all the credit.

And then Henry Lawson said that Miranda tried to shoot him and missed. So Miranda is a terrible shot; nothing has changed since she was a squadmate. Engineer Adams said Jen always attracted the best; Jen no longer agrees with that statement.

Miranda did kill her father by biotically throwing him out of a window, but only because he was stupid enough to step out from behind Oriana where Miranda could attack him. For a bunch of supposedly smart people they sure are especially stupid.

Jen can't wait to get back to the Normandy for another stiff drink and a shower. And to see if the airlock needs cleaning.

Logan Shepard followed up on Sam's lead about Sanctuary. What is it about Horizon that attracts bad news? And Eden Prime too! And Mindoir...

Maybe humanity should stop setting up colonies in awkward places, because it never works out. Hopefully there's at least a cash incentive for people moving to these dangerous places.

It wasn't a surprise to see Reaper forces at Sanctuary. From what Javik's said, hiding your civilians isn't a useful strategy against the Reapers. Question is, what happened here? Were there indoctrinated agents? Why would Cerberus come here? If they came here to defend humans from the Reaper forces, Shep will eat his own helmet.

Reading the PDAs and notes lying around is pretty uncomfortable. Every comment feels ominous when you know the truth about this place. "Family units are kept together to make processing easier." Damn, that just reminds me of Kelly soup.  :?

Shepard had some very mixed feelings when he saw Miranda's face on the vid. First, he was irritated that she'd come here without back-up. Second, he was worried, since she's here without back-up and the place is swarming with Cerberus and Reapers. Thirdly: OH SH*T. If this is a Cerberus facility, there's no way they've been playing defenders of the galaxy down here. Whatever's happened to the refugees is going to be nasty. Toombs. Kahoku. Jack. David Archer. He was right: they found evidence of Cerberus turning people into husks, the moment they entered the real facility. It's horrible to think about what would've happened to Jack and the kids if Shep hadn't detoured to Grissom. He'll have to thank Sam again for the head's up. Hell, even considering what they'd do with inactive Legion is creepy.

He and Ashley were playing distraction tennis. The moment one of them started spacing out with dark thoughts, the other snapped them out of it. At least Tali is maintaining a clear head.

Once they found out that Miranda's father and Kai Leng are here, they team picked up the pace. Shep doesn't need anymore reasons to Throw his arse out an airlock. :P I was a little anxious about the space full of banshees and brutes, but Ash and Shep make short work of brutes. Banshees are ok if he stays on the move, behind his team (sorry, cannon fodder!   ), and all three of them have skills to drain barriers.

Miranda finally got to kill her father, and she rescued her sister. Both are finally free, and the atrocities at Sanctuary are partially avenged. Next stop: TIM. Shep usually places a high value on family, but he'd rather all his family be dead, than have someone alive like Henry Lawson. Back on the ship: tequila se'lai. :P Also, Javik was convinced to forget his Echo Shard and leave memories in the past.

But you want Target elimination on Wave 3 and 10. If you Rocket the first target, the next targets become easier units. (Does not work on wave 6, where the target is always the same unit.)

It is an interesting concept, telling it storywise... here's what happened during yesterday's play

RJ Shepard had cured the Genophage, gaining the support of both Turians and Krogan. She had another dream of chasing the boy through the woods. What startled her was she heard the voices of those who had died... and most prominent was Ashley's voice: "Screw that, Go get Alenko, you know it's the right choice LT" (or close to that) After reminiscing briefly with LIara at how Ash would have considered the Reaper Threat Target practice, RJ learns that the Salarian Councilor has called.

RJ has never liked Udina, and with the possibility that he might be dirty worries her. While she has never really seen eye to eye with the Council as a whole, she knew that they were looked up to by their respected races. However, upon approach, all is silent. Thane gets in touch and informs them what she fears: Cerberus has attacked.

Flying into a Hot Zone, Shepard clears out Cerberus and helps Bailey into C-Sec HQ, she leads James and Liara to find the Salarian Councilor. After a firefight, they find the Executor dead. Glancing out the window, they catch sight of the Salarian Councilor, who had been cloaked. However, just as RJ tells her comrades to head back down, an assassin drops in. Shooting the glass out, Shepard jumps down and holds her gun at the mysterious man. The councilor tells RJ that Udina was planning on handing them all over to Cerberus. Just as the Assassin was about to attack, Thane arrives. After a brief fight, the man stabs Thane. RJ is torn between wanting to help him, someone who she grew to love after Kaidan's dismissal on Horizon, and saving the council. Thane assures her he still has time, and she rushes to find the other councilors.

Eventually, she catches up with the Council and has a standoff with Kaidan. Standing down when Kaidan demanded to know what was going on, she tells them that it was Udina forcing the coup, to which the Human Councilor scoffs that she has no proof. Deep down, she was just praying she restored enough of a friendship with Kaidan for him to trust her. When he started to take control of the situation, RJ let him handle the entire thing.

She headed to the hospital after things calmed down, and said farewell to Thane, saying she'll meet him across the sea. After running some errands, she encounters Kaidan on her way back to the Normandy. Recalling Ashley's words in her dream, which were and echo of Virmire, RJ gladly accepts Kaidan back onto her ship.

The only thing I'm sad about, is Kaidan's first conversation on the ship is bugged for me, I haven't seen it play out in some time... oh well hope you guys enjoyed this snapshot of my character.

I had this problem before. Did you go to Kaidan right away? I had the bug when I spoke to other squadmates first, it might be if you first talk to Garrus about what happened (I have not confirmed this, but it felt like he might be the reason).

luckily I happen to have a save right after I got him back on the ship. Going straight to him seems to trigger it fine, while having chats with others (Samantha, Garrus, etc) bugs it out., will have to keep that in mind for future runs
