Glad to see other people enjoyed their time playing Mass Effect today. I sure did not.

As Brad Shepard (Sentinel), I spent about an hour or so running around the Citadel and some of the galaxy adding Journal entries, a little XP, some reputation points, and a few credits. It was a whole lot of the Left Analog stick, the A button, and a lot of tapping the X button to skip through conversations as quickly as possible.

Journal Entry 2 of Marcus Shepard

Originally, I thought that if I went to the Artemis Tau cluster first, I could acquire and question Benezia's daughter before Benezia and Saren sent their cronies to collect and or protect her. That notion went straight down the tubes no more than two minutes after we landed on Therum when a Geth ship appeared and started dropping Geth all over the place like skat. ****ing synthetic bastards.

After grinding through them all, we finally found the Prothean ruin that Benezia's daughter was likely exploring. We found her trapped in the ruins in some sort of..for lack of a better description...containment bubble. It appeared that she was there for quite some time and she was quite frantic at first. At that point, it was just a matter of finding a way inside the ruins and deactivating whatever security system that she tripped. While plowing through more Geth, we found a decent sized mining lazer that was more than suitable for the job.

Once she was free, the ruins started to become unstable and we had to get out of there ASAP. Unfortunately, we ran into a Krogan Warlord and some more Geth. I was in no mood for any more foolishness and we were able to deal with them in a timely fashion. Still, we barely made it out of the ruins in time.

When we got on board the Normandy, Liara thanked us for the timely rescue. She also explained her expertise on the Protheans and that she has had no contact with her Mother for quite some time. A number of the crew don't trust her and think she's a liability. However, I don't think she's lying when she says she has no idea what her mother is doing or why. There's no way she's putting on that good of an act. I'll still watch her of course, but I don't think she'll prove tobe too troublesome. She's quite naive, and I doubt her combat abilities, so it's not likely I'll be bringing her on any missions. But her knowledge on the Protheans might be of some use. I'm going to need all the help I can get on trying to decipher that strange...vision, and I still have no clue what the conduit is or where it's located. I just know that Saren is after it, so I need to find it.

Half the fun is spinning a tale out of the events in ME 2, making a bit fun of the weird stuff and filling in some of the blanks. ^_^

Oh had an idea.

What a day, went back to my cabin to get some shuteye. Why is the shower running? :?

Kelly what are you doing in my shower?

You got dirty feeding the fish? How is that even possible? There aren´t even fish in there, I just bought them, they are right here in this glass bowl in my hands at this moment! If you wanted a shower here, say so but don´t tell anybody. Grunt already asked and I told him something about captain´s privilege or so. And you have to share with Miranda I think, found a long black hair yesterday.

Well if you are already here, help me with the fish.

No I don´t let Samara use my shower, why? Oh you never seen her use the ones in the women´s bathroom? Ah she does it with her biotics. I am not kidding. Sutra 1268 in the codex "How to purify mind and body." No I don´t do that. Learning how to use biotic mass effect fields to wash yourself is frikkin dangerous and probably one the reasons so many justicar apprentices die in training. When I learned biotics, I saw one adept catapult himself against a wall because he was fooling around with his singularity. :pinched:

Or try not to stare too closely at the Mass Effect universe or it will fall apart right before your very eyes.

The same can be said for almost every fictional scifi/fantasy universe. Until we have computers powerful enough to plausibly simulate a living universe*, they will demand a certain level of suspension of disbelief from us.

*like the one we currently inhabit

Went to the derelict reaper yesterday.
Today I did 3 missions to get the abductions triggered. It must have been 2 but I don't know why this happened.
I only had Legion, Zaeed, Kasumi and Grunt loyal. I couldn't allow Grunt to die. It was hard enough to see Garrus die.
We finished the suicide mission with only the loyal ones alive.

Now comes an ME3 run with this import.

From the files of James Vega

Ashley's right. This place is chilly. Why would Cerberus attack their own scientists? Time to do some fighting. Who's this guy? He knows Shepard. He's wounded. Doesn't look too bad. His name is Jacob and he's protecting these people. The woman, Dr.Cole, explains that her and all the others wanted to get away from Cerberus. Unfortunately Cerberus caught up with them.

We learn they also have children with them. Oh boy. Cerberus would never of killed them. Would they? That's not cool. We need to help these people Shepard. She agrees. We head to the roof to fix the radar and get the guns back online.

Here we go again. More Cerberus. The only thing I can say that I like about these guys is they having little mini rockets in their armor to drop to the groud or to get to a higher position.

Shepard has Ashley get the guns back online while she and I deal with Cerberus. Shuttle after shuttle keeps dropping off more Cerberus soldiers and Shepard and I keep killing them. Ashley's done. Lets get out of here.

There goes the first shuttle. More Cerberus guys to deal with. Look at that. They drop an atlas to help. Kaboom. Look at them all. Time to go.

Back on the Normandy, I gave myself a smile. It was nice to help those people. Too many have died needlessly. We still have to deal with the reapers.

What? You can't be serious? You really want to go in the geth server Commander? I'm getting bad vibes about this. She steps in the chamber. Ashley and I stand watch. I hope this works. Several minutes later, Admiral Raan says some geth fighters have stopped functioning. We stand around some more. Admiral Raan tells me all fighters have stopped. It sounds like it worked.

The Commander seems to be ok. Woah. WOAH. Ok. Why are the giant geth walking towards us? I'm goona be killed by a machine. The Commander is furious. That geth had the others ally with it and now will help us.  What would happen if that back fired? If I was the Commander, I would've shot the thing.

Its good to cook me some eggs. There's the Commander.  It looks like she is going to talk with Ashley. Ha. I think Ashley  is a little tired from her drinking we did. I talk with Javik. He tells me in his time they had no time for booze or gambling. He tells me a joke or I think its a joke. I have no idea what he was talking about. I guess that's the joke. Ok. Time to eat

Brad Shepard (Sentinel) landed on Eden Prime for the second time in his life. Liara inviting herself and tagged along like an annoying little sister -- except for the part where Brad and Liara are a romantic item, so that metaphor is not really good at all. Moving on...

They found the Prothean artifact. Apparently it is a coffin. No wait, Liara explains it is a stasis pod, and that it contains a living Prothean. Not really seeing the difference between a dead Prothean and a Popsicle Prothean. Liara told Brad they needed to find a way to open the pod. Brad suggested a crowbar. Liara told Brad they needed to find a way to open the pod without killing the Prothean. Brad said he would be careful with the crowbar.

Then Cerberus showed up and did typical bad guy things: point guns at Shepard and then die painful deaths because they dared to point their guns at Shepard. Shepard is better with guns than they are. And lots of Throws, because he is a Sentinel.

Brad found a bunch of intel to help the colonists get rid of Cerberus. Brad found a way to open the pod. Liara then told him "No, for the last time you are not using a crowbar to open the pod!" Brad put the crowbar away. He found a couple of terminals that contained some old Prothean home videos, along with a safe way to open the pod.

They killed more Cerberus soldiers, then opened the pod. He did not seem that pleased to see them. He seemed especially displeased with EDI. They went back to the Normandy and chatted. His name is Javik. He showed Brad his gun. Brad studied the gun. Brad then knew why the Protheans lost the war with the Reapers: they had no idea how to use their own guns effectively. Hey Javik, did you know this gun has a damage boost if you keep shooting it for a couple of seconds? Javik just looked at him blankly.

* * *

Brad, Liara, and Javik then went to Grissom Academy. Brad always hated school. He ran into the one of the teachers named Kahlee. She seemed nice. Then he ran into one of the other teachers named Jack. She was mean. She punched him. She asked him how many times she told him not to trust Cerberus. "Never," he replied. She hit him again. Brad was not sure why she would hit him for giving a correct answer.

Jack and Kahlee wanted him to get the students out of school safely away from Cerberus. "No problem," he said, then ducked in case Jack tried to hit him again.

They took a shortcut through the atrium. They ran into David Archer, who gave them a key to a room containing lots of guns. For a supposed math genius, he sure seems terrible with numbers; one Mattock assault rifle is not 'lots of guns'.

Brad walked by an open Atlas mech because he does not have a license to use it. (Truth be told, he does not have any sort of drivers license or pilots license either. It would explain his erratic Mako and Hammerhead stunts.) They made more Cerberus stew then got the students out of the school.

* * *

They raided a Cerberus Lab. They found some Medi-gel, some Reaper Tech, and some messages from a C. Talavi who joined Cerberus. Shepard can only assume he killed him at the lab. That made him feel sad.

We made our way back to the Citadel and picked up some more artifacts and useful things along our way.

Before seeing the asari Councilor I first handed in a few artifacts and things we found recently to help people and possibly gain even more support. I also wanted to check out Primarch Victus's suspicion about the volus Ambassador, Din Korlack, being a mole for Cerberus. Victus was right, though it seems Korlack has cut ties since. But the turians had put a price on his head and he had already been found by bounty hunters. I tracked Korlack down to the apartments and on the way I overheard someone talking about a sick batarian terrorist at the refugee camp. Huh, gonna check that out too.

I entered the apartment room, taking care of the Ambassador's captors. He said Cerberus will strike at a turian colony soon, but if he'd tell me where they'll attack Cerberus will know he betrayed them.

I wanted the name. But Korlack offered me the volus bombing fleet instead if I backed down. Since he wouldn't give me both, I agreed to use the volus fleet. The more help against the Reapers, the better.

I also ran into Tali at the Presidium and she told me about when she was first shot here, shortly before Kaidan, Ashley and I tracked her down with the intel on Saren.

The turian that was just talking with her was the one that called her a suit rat and did not help her back then. Yet here she was, helping him without shoving this into his face, providing ships to support the turians. What did Kaidan say? Yeah, she's a good egg.

There was also Officer Noles, who asked for my help with tracking down illegally used batarian diplomatic codes. I tracked them through various consoles, and as I was standing at the last console, someone shoved a gun in my back. My heart was racing.

Batarian, sh*t. And he knew who I was, knew what I had done. He blamed me for what happened to the Bahak system and was set on killing me.

I did the best I could with the situation. Saying he won't shoot because he knows exactly that they all need me in order to fight the Reapers, or they're all dead. I had made my point, and I tried hard to overcome my hatred, asking him to join us, for his ships... He agreed and I was relieved. That could've gone the wrong way.

When I went to see this batarian terrorist, I was so worked up I didn't even realise I ran right past James.

I started talking to this Ghorek guy and asked what the hell a terrorist was doing on the Citadel. But he too recognized me, and the topic shifted right to me destroying the Alpha relay and the batarian system in the process months ago.

Damnit, this was only to prevent the Reapers coming through! Is no one listening? Of course he didn't listen, neither believing me. Instead he told me I shouldn't pretend to have any remorse.

I don't. I would do the same thing over and over again if I had to.

But that obviously wasn't what he wanted to hear. He made some comment about me switching off his life support so I can rid "my precious galaxy" of yet one more batarian. Ugh, I'm done here. I hope you'll suffer some more before you die. Rot in hell, a**hole.

When I turned around and walked away I was taken aback that James was sitting right there. I wondered if he had not seen me pass by earlier.

I asked him what he's doing here and he told me he had made up his mind and will join the N7 program, making it somewhat official by getting an N7 tattoo.

Good for him, seems our chat did help. He promised he would not let me down, but this is none of my business. He needs to do this for himself, not for someone else. For all I know, we'll part ways anyway if we win this war. A bit sad to think about that as I like him a great deal, we're a good team, on and off the battlefield.

I asked him if he's gonna be ready for duty, as this tattoo will likely hurt a couple of days. He replied he's always ready, then started to get ideas about me getting a matching tattoo. Or that maybe I could get his name done, in a special place. Haha, oh Vega.

I got a little too excited and carried away when I stepped up our game and asked if he'd ever make good on all his flirting. I expected any other reaction than the one I got. He was stammering, at a loss for words. I didn't think this was even possible, but it was kinda sweet.

I relieved him out of his struggle and walked away, chuckling and pleased with myself, but wondering about his reaction. I've never seen him like that before...

Oh well, it's probably nothing. Shouldn't put too much thought into it.

I met up with Jacob at the hospital, it was good to see him again. We caught up a bit and he updated me about him, the Crucible and Brynne. She's having his baby. Wow. One more reason for him to fight.

EDI and Joker had settled in at Purgatory once again and their relationship seems to have blossomed quite well. You guys have fun while it lasts.

One last thing before seeing the Councilor. A while ago Hackett had sent an e-mail about a Dr. Bryson who had information on the Reapers. Might not take too long. (haha :D)

Gosh, I love love love Freddie Prinze Jr.'s voice acting when James starts talking about the matching tattoos. That "N7... sure." gets me every time.

Wow guys, no one else played today? I feel like spamming :P

Vid here:

Spoiler

When I entered Dr. Bryson's lab, he and his assistent were in the middle of some work, but were already expecting me. Bryson is here to study the Reapers, or rather legends, rumors and stories about them from back when no one knew about them.

He told me that the Alliance is still looking for intel, their motives, tactics. Anything that can help us beat them. That sounds reasonable.

He was just about to tell me more when his assistent shot him. What the hell? I could dodge the bullet that was meant for me and punched him so he wouldn't try anything else, then called in C-Sec.

When they arrived, the assistent made the impression he's not fully aware of what just happened. So what's going on here?!

EDI, who also had arrived earlier said it resembled indoctrination. Hm. Yeah, maybe.

I asked the assistent what this "Leviathan" that Dr. Bryson mentioned earlier is. And just when he wanted to tell me more about an artifact in the lab, he switched to this weird state again, like being possessed. He was so clear a moment ago. EDI might just be right. This reminds me too much of Benezia and Saren...

Thanks to a message Bryson had sent to Hackett we could find out that this Leviathan might possess the power to take down a Reaper. And not even that, the Reapers seem to hunt for Leviathan, too, feeling threatened. If that's true, then...

Ok, forget about the asari Councilor, we need to learn more about this creature right away. This could be vital in bringing the Reapers down.

We found the audio log of a partner of Bryson, someone called Garneau, who had sent him the artifact and had more information on the Leviathan creature.

We managed to track him down to an asteroid with a mining facility on it. Let's see what he's up to.

Cortez flew James, Javik and me close to the entrance and we could see the first Reaper forces right away. We cleared our path and entered the facility. It was a strange atmosphere. Quiet, too quiet for the amount of people in there.

I tried to get more information out of two guards, but it just got more odd from there. They wanted us to leave. I got a bad feeling about this, and James felt the same, telling me something wasn't right here.

Nevertheless we set out to investigate, I just hope we find Garneau quick. We were able to track him to the med bay, but only found a body, a dead end, it seems.

Just as I was loosing hope, someone in the room behind us spoke up. Garneau... Good, so he's not dead.

We asked a couple of questions concerning Leviathan and another artifact that was supposed to be here, but Garneau was definitely dodging them. Or couldn't remember. Not here as well...

Then his voice changed. Deep, creepy, warning us to leave the artifact and him alone. Then he broke out. We chased him all the way to the mines, taking out Reaper forces as we went.

When we busted in, husks had swarmed the place and Garneau sat below the artifact, a trigger in his hand. Sh*t!! He blew himself up, taking the artifact and the husks with him. And we're back to square one.

James called me over and said he found the real Garneau. He has been dead for some time. Looks like Leviathan can pull some serious strings...

The lieutenant also found a personal log on Garneau's data pad, with 8 missed calls from Dr. Ann Bryson.

Some miners were approaching us and learned they had been in Leviathan's grasp for 10 years! Makes me wonder if it's not too dangerous to pursue Leviathan further. James was also concerned on the shuttle ride back to the Normandy, even having thoughts about Leviathan being an actual Reaper. Yeah, maybe. And it's dangerous, I know... but... The Reapers won't stop, so we have to take that chance, see what it's up to. If the Crucible won't work this could be worthwhile.

In Garneau's notes EDI had found a way to block the artifacts' influence, makes me sick to think it has been sitting in the lab unshielded the whole time.

As soon as we were back on the Citadel, EDI and I shielded the artifact right away and searched for more clues in Bryson's lab, to find the location of his daughter Ann, who is also tied to Leviathan and the artifacts.

Our only lead now.

Heh, caught Gabby and Ken in Jack's old lair today, d'awww :)

And our favourite trollian: "Your asari continues to question me. I'm beginning to wish her kind had never learned to talk." :D

I can understand :) Guess I'm still at it because a lot is still new to me, I'm only in 1 year and 3 months for the ME Trilogy and haven't even played all classes yet. I will continue with that this year and I definitely also want to try out most of the romances, but who knows what comes after, maybe I'll be sick of it by then as well. Until then, (almost) no room for other games

I always have to smile when I see Mike start another playthrough :D Dedication!

- That conversation did not go well.
