Finally continued, been a bit more busy last week/weekend and barely played. I got next week off work though, so I hope plenty of time to play
Video here:
As soon as the dig site Ann Bryson was located at had successfully been scanned, I told James and Javik to get ready and Cortez soon took us to the landing platform of the site. I saw Ann and she contacted us, but we were interrupted by Harvesters. Cortez headed for the lower platform and we jumped out of the shuttle while he tried to get rid of our pursuers.
I could already see it wasn't going to be easy. The dig site was swarmed by countless Harvesters, looks bad. One wrong move and we'll be blown to hell. We need to be real careful.
We made our way to an elevator while fighting off Reaper forces. Unfortunately it was blocked and we had to find our way around, but we soon managed to get to Ann. I had to tell her she's the only one left, so we did what we came to - get her out no matter what.
On our way back we stumbled upon a painting of Leviathan. Supposedly. And if it is, damn, that thing does look like a Reaper...
I asked Ann about the artifact they found recently, and she led us there. When we arrived we saw Reaper forces examine the artifact, according to Ann they had activated it somehow. Something she couldn't do before. Suddenly the doctor walked away, and there were these cryptic sentences again. Leviathan had her in its grasp, damn! I just yelled at my team to take this artifact out and James shot at it, releasing Ann.
I radioed Cortez to pick us up and we fended off the last wave of Reaper forces that hindered the shuttle from landing. I shoved Ann inside and we made it back to the Normandy safely. Ann went ahead to her father's lab alone after I had told her in the shuttle he was dead.
We also set course for the Citadel and I headed straight to Dr. Bryson's lab to meet up with Ann again as soon as we could.
When EDI and I entered the lab I found her upstairs, mourning the loss of her father. I know it's hard. I told her I can come back if she needed more time.
But she wanted me to stay. Good, working takes your mind off things, I learned that, too.
After we returned downstairs and Ann telling EDI and me more about the Sovereign piece and her rachni studies, we approached the artifact. A surprise waited... James was leaning against the table with that grotesque husk head. Asked if I needed a hand.
I wondered what brought him down here now. Ah, seems he's worried about Ann... so I guess helping me is not the only reason he's here.
I shoved my thoughts aside and told him to get comfortable, and then he was getting all excited about the husk head. Played around with that thing and in the end he told me we should take it to the Normandy. Okay, James, but it's your responsibility.
Ann suggested to use the artifact in order to let Leviathan take control over her, so we could track its location via the pulse it emitted through the artifact. Risky, but worth trying. I hope this works...
James showed concern again, and while I'm with him that it's dangerous, this is likely our only chance, so we have to take it. He tried to calm Ann by telling her he's right there, and my eyes lingered on him for a brief moment.
Then I told James to drop the shield, and it took a few seconds, but then Leviathan took over, and James had to grab Ann's shoulders as her body shook heavily, but he managed to keep her contained.
I tried my best to convince Leviathan to join the war, then asked EDI if we had enough information already. Only a partial lock. James wanted to activate the shield again to release Ann.
No, I needed more! I tried to press Leviathan once again. Come on...
By the second time James wanted to put an end to our session I was so worked up by this whole situation that I yelled at him to back off... just a little longer, damn it!
Once EDI informed us the tracking was complete I ordered James to reactivate the shield. I immediately asked which results we got, and thus had ignored Ann, who lay on the floor. James was really p*ssed about my decisions and behaviour, he seemed so angry as he took Ann out to the med lab.
I was... somewhat upset that he was mad at me, I certainly did not want this... but at least we got that damn location, so EDI and I returned to the Normandy. What a day.
Best sentence today
James: I don't know the scientific measurement of shitload, but that seemed like a shitload of Harvesters.
I also loved how p*ssed James got when going Renegade on Ann, hehe. This game is wonderful
