Went to Gellix to see how it's gonna be without Jacob.

[snip]

Also I realized I have forgotten how irritating and annoying Ashley is in ME3. Kaidan is a lot better.

I actually liked Gellix better without him there, and I didn't really miss him that much. I did kinda miss beating him at Shattered Eezo in Citadel though....

I much prefer Kaidan too. Ashley has nothing of interest to say, imo, in ME3. I don't give a flying fig about her sister and everything else she says equates to "Cerberus is bad and I hate them."

Journal Entry 3 of Marcus Shepard

After we acquired Liara, it was time to head to Feros and determine why the Geth went there in force. This mission was certainly...interesting..to say the least.

I brought Wrex and Tali with me on this mission. Started off as much as you'd expect; I ran into Geth as soon as I left the ship. They were trying to eradicate a small human colony called Zhu's Hope. I instantly found this odd, especially since I saw nothing of interest here. After clearing out the Geth, I learned from the leader named Fai Dan that the Geth were holed up at a former Exogeni headquarters. Before heading there, he mentioned that some Geth were holed up in some tunnels not too far off. I figured that I'd better deal with them now so I wouldn't have to fight them on our way back from their main base of operations. While in the tunnels, I met a guy who was acting very strange. I talked to Fai Dan afterwards, and he was clearly hiding something. But odd behavior from the colonists was not my primary concern at that point in time.

At that point, we headed towards the former Exogeni headquarters to deal with the Geth. On the way there, we ran across what was left of the Exogeni personnel. I hoped to learn more about what the Geth were after, but they claimed ignorance on that. That Jeong was hiding definitely hiding something, but I didn't have time to deal with him yet.

Once we arrived at the the main building, we mowed down some more Geth and ran into another Exogeni employee named Lizbeth. While questioning her, I learned what the Geth were after. They were apparently after some plant life form called the Thorian, but I wasn't sure why. It wasn't until later that I learned from some VI that the Thorian was also cognizant and had the ability to..telepathically gain control of it's thralls. In this case, the Zhu's hope colonists. It also figured that Exogeni would allow this and study it. So I had my secondary objective at this point, but I still wasn't sure why the Geth would be interested in the Thorian.

After booting the Geth out of the Exogeni headquarters, we evacuated Lizbeth and started to head back towards the Colony. She bailed while we were driving past the Exogeni outpost. I decided to follow her so I could question Jeong and determine the exact location of the Thorian. But that fuckwit was more interested in purging the colony to hide what his company had done to the Colonists. He refused to listen to reason, so I had no choice but to kill him. At that point, I was getting ready to head back to the colony, but Lizbeth and her her mom insisted on speaking with me before I left. They knew that I would have to fight through the colonists in order to reach the Thorian, so they gave me some type of nerve gas to incapacitate the colonists instead of killing them. I made no promises, but I did say that I would at least attempt to use it.

Once back at the colony, the nerve gas worked pretty well. Unfortunately, some of the colonists escaped the blast radius of the grenades, so I had to permanently put the poor bastards out of their misery. When all the colonists were pacified or neutralized, we were finally able to head towards the underground section of the colony to deal with the Thorian.

Upon first inspection, the Thorian looked more like some giant spore with adjoining tentacles instead of a plant. It was also quite ugly. It spit out a green Asari, and we learned that Saren got some information/memories from the Thorian, then decided to remove any loose ends by killing it. The Thorian was quite upset at that, and decided to try and kill us. Typical. So, we had to grind through all its defenses and dislodge the Thorian from it's anchor points. When that little detail was finished, we met the actual Asari that Saren gave to the Thorian in trade. We learned that the Thorian had something called the Cipher, some..space magicky..mumbo jumbo that would allow me to..somehow.."capture" the essence of what it meant to be a Prothean. Whatever it was, it gave me a killer head ache and made the vision from Eden Prime more clear. After she gave us what we needed, she told us all she knew about Saren, why Benezia joined up with him, and about Saren's Flagship. Somehow, the ship gave Saren the ability to indoctrinate his followers so they would do anything he asked. She then asked us to let her go so she could fix the mess that Saren left and help the Colonists rebuild. I was skeptical, but she did tell us all she knew and gave me the cipher without hesitation, even when she could have hidden that from me. So, against my better judgement, I let her go.

Finally, we headed back towards the ship and I was quite glad to leave that craziness mostly behind me.

Gellix with Jacob feels better, actually more fitting. Even though I don't take him with me much in ME2. It is nice to see him in ME3.

I prefer Ash from ME1. In the last game, she always says bad things about rachni, geth etc. She feels more of a racist, xenophobic which absolutely doesn't suit me because I love Legion and I save the rachni queen gladly etc.
She didn't even apologize for pointing a gun at me :)

Brad Shepard (Sentinel) went to the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery, picked up Gallae's signature (for the +5% Store Discount) and killed a bunch of Reaper creepies.

After the final combat area, I clicked on the bomb to let the cutscene play and went to the bathroom... and then remembered that if i wanted Samara to live I needed to press the Paragon interrupt. So I hurried up, stepped out and grabbed my controller... and let Samara shoot herself anyway because I thought that would be a better decision for the playthrough.

He is now back on the Normandy standing near the weapon upgrade terminal. I think I am going to switch him to a Marksman Sentinel (Marksman, Tech Armor, and Lift Grenades), so I need to decide what guns I want to use. In the end I will probably go Claymore because that gun is awesome.

K-man do know how to make his lovers swoon.

I deleted my ME1 so I could download Pinnacle Station and play it without MEIUTM. Turns out MEIUTM did mess with the framerates. I'm now able to play ME1 on Ultra-High without performance issues and then use HR tpf for Texmod on certain characters rather than all of them.

Played mostly SWTOR these days but I find a curious quote from my Sith Warrior. "Sole Survivors are either cowards or fighters. Which one are you?"

Sigh, I miss my Revvie.

I confess after several tries I am admitting defeat. I follow the instructions on the page to the letter and get the blue tights version of the outfit but no matter what i try I can't get the bare leg version to show up.

I can get a second version to appear but the leg textures just seem to mirror those of the shoulders.

Hating the Rachni and Geth is sadly the norm in the Mass Effect universe mate, most of the squadmates have no love for them, just go and listen to what your squadmates have to say if you let the Quarians destroy the Geth during Rannoch for example. Hint:It's not favourable to the Geth.

I know, luckily I'm the odd one and I don't act according to the others' ideas, even if they're my friends :)
I save the geth and the rachni. I love them too, krogan as well; even some batarians. Except the admirals I like the quarians too but they are narrow-minded most of the time.
I even feel sorry for the Illusive Man because I believe he really wanted to do what he thinks best for humanity.
I get it; I'm a loving person :)

And Legion 'for me' comes before Ashley or Tali or many other squadmates. I only feel that much sorry when Legion, Mordin and Garrus died.

It is, but they don't harp on it in every.single.converation like Ashley does; they only bring it up after the relevant mission. Ash has nothing positive to say about anything. I'm not sure why devs thought that was a good thing to do to her character?

I spared tonight for the Citadel Dlc. I just finished it with the party but I am very angry.
Why don't they let Shepard wake up alone? Does Shepard have to date someone or else she has to wake up in a crappy way with a crappy situation.
This is the first time I got really angry at the Bioware team that thought and approved of this.

I'm sure it's possible and if you don't invite Javik or don't talk to James before the party, you can wake alone. It's one way I found out but I didn't see it coming even. With James it's obvious. She forces him practically but with Javik..... I don't even go talk to him between missions.

No, at least not that I know of. I have had several single BroSheps wake up next to nobody in the Citadel DLC, none of them ever woke up to a one-night stand. FemShep seems to be the only one that can be ambushed by Javik, although I have to assume she was incredibly drunk.

Yes, the exact word! I got ambushed by him....

I have finished the Omega Dlc as a paragon.
Also I did finally tried the Mirror Match again (second time) on Insanity. After countless tries I have finally finished it.

Well I finally started a new trilogy run based on something Themikefest posted.  I've never done a mass death run.  So my male Shepard has equal parts Joe Pesci from Goodfellas, Riddick, Dumb and Dumber characters and Chris Farley from Tommy Boy.  I added in a splash of James Kirk from Star Trek for romance options.

On Eden's Prime some recruit named Jenkins died but as I told Dr. Chakwas that is what we are there for.  He was kind of an idiot to run out like that.  Had to leave the body as there was no time.  Came across another alliance soldier named Ashley.  Stupid idiot caused a beacon to go off that nearly fried my brain.  I reamed her out good for that blunder.  But was then nice as she might like to party.

The Asari consort wanted me to do some errands for her.  I thought it might move me up on the waiting list so I did.  All she did was talk about something or other.  Big deal.  I thought this was a brothel.  Yea right.

Dr. Michel was ind of sexy and had some issues.  I decided to help as maybe she might be "grateful".  I killed the Krogan but she still didn't reward me in the way I wanted to.

Finally got a good lead on Saren and went after Fitsch.  Had to fight my way in.  Some nuts thought playing guard was cool.  They died as I couldn't trust them as they never offered to hand over their weapons.  Fitsch got shot by Wrex and that was fine by me.  In the end some Quarian had what I needed.  I let her join my crew.  Not sure if she looks hot or has tentacles under that mask but I'm curious.

Some reporter tried to insult me so I socked her.

I came across two nutjobs named Jahleed and Chorban.  Chorban pulled a gun on me.  He paid for it with his life.

Some kid kept bugging me for an autograph and picture.  I was nice to him.  Who knows maybe he will do something for me in the future.  But he is starting to get close to the line where I'll have to tell him to get lost.

Some old friend that I don't even remember named Finch tried to blackmail me to get some jerk out of jail.  I shot him.  How dare he threaten me.  After all I'm a Spectre now.

Went to save some Asari.  Figured she might be cute or at least know something about Saren.  Killed some Geth and freed her.  I think she likes me.  So I have Wrex, Garrus, Tali and Liara who are all aliens in my crew.  I also have Ashley and Kaiden.

So far Zhu's Hope will be abandoned because only one colonist survived.  Shiala had to die because I couldn't trust her and she messed with my mind.  I still have headaches.  I mean come on some green Asari comes out of some kind of Thorian eggsack and I'm to not think it's the Thorian calling the shots?  And that jerk Jeong from the company running the place had to be shot.  Another wackjob that thinks he can blackmail me with my past.  Besides he was interfering with a military operation.

Liara and Ashley got into a catfight which was kind of cool.  I picked Liara because I have a thing for aliens.

Garrus was happy that he got to kill Sodonis.  I told him to cherish the feeling.

My former commander went all nuts and was leading some biotics.  He agreed to surrender but then said I had to leave and he would come out later.  Yea like I can trust him.  I told him no and they all went nuts so all had to die.

I ran across another hostage situation with biotics complaining about something or other.  They were going to kill the hostage anyway so I just took them out.  This prevents further hostage situations.

Some black ops group named Cerberus had to be dealt with.  None survived but unfortunately they killed an officer.

The council are real jerks.  I had to hang up on them twice now.

It's been rather busy so I don't have time to stop at every mineral deposit or to scan each planet.  I'm a soldier and I fight not some guy that uses the Mako to check out each little artifact.  Besides Hacket calls me often enough to let me know about things that go wrong.

So far I've only lost one person named Jenkins, personally shot 4, had two others shot by teammates and killed a bunch in various firefights.  I've lost Zhu's Hope and two hostage groups trying to save them.  If people really want to surrender to me then they need to hand over their weapons.  I'm not going to take their word that they give up and let them keep their weapon.

Finally continued, been a bit more busy last week/weekend and barely played. I got next week off work though, so I hope plenty of time to play :D

Video here:

Spoiler

As soon as the dig site Ann Bryson was located at had successfully been scanned, I told James and Javik to get ready and Cortez soon took us to the landing platform of the site. I saw Ann and she contacted us, but we were interrupted by Harvesters. Cortez headed for the lower platform and we jumped out of the shuttle while he tried to get rid of our pursuers.

I could already see it wasn't going to be easy. The dig site was swarmed by countless Harvesters, looks bad. One wrong move and we'll be blown to hell. We need to be real careful.

We made our way to an elevator while fighting off Reaper forces. Unfortunately it was blocked and we had to find our way around, but we soon managed to get to Ann. I had to tell her she's the only one left, so we did what we came to - get her out no matter what.

On our way back we stumbled upon a painting of Leviathan. Supposedly. And if it is, damn, that thing does look like a Reaper...

I asked Ann about the artifact they found recently, and she led us there. When we arrived we saw Reaper forces examine the artifact, according to Ann they had activated it somehow. Something she couldn't do before. Suddenly the doctor walked away, and there were these cryptic sentences again. Leviathan had her in its grasp, damn! I just yelled at my team to take this artifact out and James shot at it, releasing Ann.

I radioed Cortez to pick us up and we fended off the last wave of Reaper forces that hindered the shuttle from landing. I shoved Ann inside and we made it back to the Normandy safely. Ann went ahead to her father's lab alone after I had told her in the shuttle he was dead.

We also set course for the Citadel and I headed straight to Dr. Bryson's lab to meet up with Ann again as soon as we could.

When EDI and I entered the lab I found her upstairs, mourning the loss of her father. I know it's hard. I told her I can come back if she needed more time.

But she wanted me to stay. Good, working takes your mind off things, I learned that, too.

After we returned downstairs and Ann telling EDI and me more about the Sovereign piece and her rachni studies, we approached the artifact. A surprise waited... James was leaning against the table with that grotesque husk head. Asked if I needed a hand.

I wondered what brought him down here now. Ah, seems he's worried about Ann... so I guess helping me is not the only reason he's here.

I shoved my thoughts aside and told him to get comfortable, and then he was getting all excited about the husk head. Played around with that thing and in the end he told me we should take it to the Normandy. Okay, James, but it's your responsibility.

Ann suggested to use the artifact in order to let Leviathan take control over her, so we could track its location via the pulse it emitted through the artifact. Risky, but worth trying. I hope this works...

James showed concern again, and while I'm with him that it's dangerous, this is likely our only chance, so we have to take it. He tried to calm Ann by telling her he's right there, and my eyes lingered on him for a brief moment.

Then I told James to drop the shield, and it took a few seconds, but then Leviathan took over, and James had to grab Ann's shoulders as her body shook heavily, but he managed to keep her contained.

I tried my best to convince Leviathan to join the war, then asked EDI if we had enough information already. Only a partial lock. James wanted to activate the shield again to release Ann.

No, I needed more! I tried to press Leviathan once again. Come on...

By the second time James wanted to put an end to our session I was so worked up by this whole situation that I yelled at him to back off... just a little longer, damn it!

Once EDI informed us the tracking was complete I ordered James to reactivate the shield. I immediately asked which results we got, and thus had ignored Ann, who lay on the floor. James was really p*ssed about my decisions and behaviour, he seemed so angry as he took Ann out to the med lab.

I was... somewhat upset that he was mad at me, I certainly did not want this... but at least we got that damn location, so EDI and I returned to the Normandy. What a day.

Best sentence today :D

James: I don't know the scientific measurement of shitload, but that seemed like a shitload of Harvesters.

I also loved how p*ssed James got when going Renegade on Ann, hehe. This game is wonderful :)

Aww boo hoo the poor bugsies and toasters. Why is it sad? Hating the Rachni is completely reasonable up to the point when it is revealed that they only went to war against everyone else because of forceful indoctrination (information which people who aren't Shepard don't have), and even then distrust is logical given how easily it seems this can happen even against the queen's will (as displayed in ME3). The geth are (for good reasons that they consistently display every time they come in contact with organics) known as wantonly murderous terminators to literally everyone in the galaxy that again, isn't Shepard and Co. In fact, if you sell Legion to Cerberus for research purposes (a completely rational decision given the information about geth available to you), that qualifier expands to simply everyone including Shepard. They don't do themselves any favours in ME3 either by being the only faction that willingly chooses to ally with the Reapers against everyone else, then try to implant themselves with Reaper tech when you and the quarians "free" them anyway. Even Cerberus aren't quite so dense.

Why should your squadmates have any "love" for them? The only ones they know are the ones that universally try to shoot/claw them to death for seemingly no reason. The (first) queen seems nice if you take her word as truth, but suspiciously keeps getting captured and playing the victim card when her children start tearing up the place. Oh yeah, and there's Legion, the solitary not murderous, yet still duplicitous, lying, thieving toaster that you can pick up and no one else except (eventually) Tali and EDI seem to care about because it's an untrustworthy, ruthlessly self interested douchecanoe. I wish I could call Garrus/Javik/Ash/James/Kaidan over so they could have a turn putting bullets/blades into it for trying to murder me instead of for some reason relenting before it is deactivated so it can puke out a feelsy line about how it has a heart or some other ridiculous nonsense. Squadmate reactions are completely rational, much moreso than lolParagon Shepard's mindless, "muh feels" based idealism.

I have finished the Fatal Error sequence on the Armax Arena.
Went to the Cerberus HQ and then to London. Chose the synthesis. I missed it.

Also got mad at Ashley and James for not clearing the area from the marauders when I was dealing with two banshees. Not the banshees but the Marauders gave me hard time there :)
If only they could hear when I said "Focus on the marauders, I can kill the banshees on my own easily." :)
