Yesterday I was able to complete all the assignments from ME1 that I wanted to before starting Virmire.

I got a message about a possible Geth invasion so I went to check it out.  Sure enough there were numerous planets where the Geth established outposts.  All fell after relatively easy fights.  Why do the Quarians have such a hard time fighting these guys?  I then found an encrypted data disk that Tali wanted.  I really couldn't give it to her till after Alliance experts decoded it.  It sort of pissed her off.  I bet she was making faces at me and sticking out her tongue.  Do Quarians even have tongues?  I know they got those glowing eyes.

Speaking of that how do Quarians eat?  I know they have an emergency induction tube for drinking but what about whole foods?  And it must really get nasty inside of that suit since I didn't see a trap door on the back side for waste disposal.  Not that it would help since the Normandy doesn't even have a toilet.  If they ever rebuild this ship they better include some next time.  Going out the airlock is hard.

That leads me to another question.  What foods are Wrex, Tali, Liara and Garrus eating?  I only have human type food on the ship since it's an Alliance vessel.  Shouldn't they have starved to death by now?  I know the Krogans can store some food in their hump but for how long?

I knew it!  I predicted it!  I just knew the rachni bugs weren't extinct and that humans couldn't trust them.  I came across two planets and a freighter full of those things.  Just more solid evidence that I did the right thing.

Over on Nodacrux I ran into more ExoGeni scientists experimenting by making more creepers.  I told the scientists they would have to surrender and they tried to bribe me.  It ended up in a firefight with more dead scientists.  What is wrong with scientists in the galaxy?  They actually think they can do whatever they want and then fight a real soldier?  They may have some book smarts but they sure are dumb about life and their eventual death.

That group Cerberus was up to lots of no good stuff.  I found a planet where all the people were husks and that rachni freighter.  BTW why do my teammates always sound like they never heard of this group?  We fought them many times trying to find Kahoku.  Well I can tell you one thing for sure.  I'll have to be brain dead before I ever join Cerberus.

Boy am I pissed at Hacket.  He sent me after some probe that had a nuke on it.  I got trapped and barely was able to defuse it.  Luckily I caught the guy and blasted him off that rock.

On another mission a module was on a probe and I was sent to find it.  What did I find?  A bunch of monkeys took it and ran off with it.  I found it easiest if I just ran over them with the Mako of shot them with the Mako.  After all it was a level 1 hazard planet.

One big thing happened.  I got a message about an asteroid heading into a planet.  Found out a bunch of Batarians were behind it.  After shutting down three torches and killing the defending squads some Batarian wants me to let him go free.  Said he would turn over his boss.  How dumb do I look?  He probably just wanted to get out of the building to surprise attack me.  I found one guy killed by a sniper and not going to let that happen so I fought it out there.

I then went to the main base and came across their leader.  He bobby-trapped the place and wanted me to let him go.  I had a premonition that if I did I would still have to run around and defuse bombs and fight sentry units anyway.  I was right not to trust him.  he had a hand held remote detonator that he set off.  What would have stopped him from doing that if I let him go?  Nothing so he had to die.  In fact he was wounded and captured.  There is no law on an asteroid so I sentenced him to death and carried it out.  A survivor was mad that I didn't let him go to save the hostages.  What a fool.

I was asked by Wrex to find some family armor.  So I did some more junk runs and actually found it.  I have to remember to give it to him but will wait till after we finish Virmire.  It will be a nice surprise and gift.  I also have to remember to go help Jenna and Rita.  I'll try to take care of that after Virmire.  I guess these things can wait.

So now I'm off to Virmire.  I'll report all the fun things next time.

Good news is no other losses to the team.  I got to personally shoot two more people (always fun) and I think I've cleaned up the whole sector.  The way things are going everything looks great and I doubt if much can go wrong.  As for the crew Tali is mad, Wrex is doing OK and will cheer up when he gets the armor after Virmire.  Ashley is still mad that I picked an alien over her while Garrus is coming along great and knows that actions speak louder than words.  Kaiden is really mellowed out.  I bet he does drugs.  Uses those L2 headaches as an excuse no doubt.  Will have to talk to the doc about that.  And finally Liara is thinking about losing her virginity to me.  Fun times await!

I am just trying to figure out where to go next to try out the Marksman Sentinel build. I have a few choices:

  • Rescue Turians on Tuchanka.
  • Rescue Ex-Cerberus Scientists from Cerberus.
  • Find Dr. Garneau
  • Go meet with the Quarians (and destroy a Dreadnaught)
  • Meet with Aria to retake Omega.

Where do you people think I should go next?

I'd be for Dr. Garneau! And maybe record it so I can see it? :D

Done and done.... except that my Internet crapped out and the videos failed to get uploaded. I will try again. I was extremely rusty and just all around terrible. i could not seem to hit anything to save my life (I died twice).

So Brad Shepard (Marksman Sentinel) traveled to a TGES Mineral Works facility on an asteroid to find Dr. Garneau. The workers were... strange... so he took a video tour of the facility instead. (Although he regrets not finding out about the applications of Tungsten.) He eventually found Dr. Garneau who then appeared to be possessed by Leviathan like Dr. Bryson's assistant had been. After finally chasing him down while fighting through hordes of Reaper ground forces, Dr. Garneau blew himself up along with an artifact similar to the artifact that was in Dr. Bryson's office.

Then it turned out that the man who killed himself was not Dr. Garneau; the real Dr. Garneau appeared to have died much earlier. And the workers were no longer possessed, but were floored when they found out ten years had passed without their knowledge while they had been possessed.

Brad traveled back to the Citadel to Dr. Bryson's office to locate his daughter Ann Bryson. After getting a location, he traveled off to find her... while stopping at all the systems she was not located in so he could get war assets. It made him wonder why he even bothered to get an exact location in the first place, but then he remembered he got some XP out of it because he is slightly aware that he is in a video game.

So Brad went to the Dig Site, saw a lot of Harvesters, killed a bunch of Reaper ground troops, then took Ann Bryson and high-tailed it back to the Citadel. He had to break the bad news to Ann that her father was murdered. She took the news hard.

Not serious questions.  Just observations my Shepard is making.

That sucks  :(

I actually got the mod working now, had to use a different version of ME3Explorer, but have realised on starting a new play through that the file needed to get the smexy outfit is the same one as used in the replacement outfit for the opening of the game on Earth.

So I find myself at somewhat of a crossroad. Do I keep the opening tank top outfit or go for the more formal but really quite sexy outfit later on. I know I could likely swap them over when I reach the Citadel but I fear tinkering with my game all the time.

That's great you got it working  :)

You could always headcanon some reason for Shepard to use her uniform vs casual. I've been thinking about maybe using another outfit for parts of the Citadel dlc where Shep would wear something less official and just chill  ;)

Since the outfits are different I'm going to fire up ME3Explorer and see if there is a way to merge the two BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.pcc files into one.

Got to be a way to do that I would have thought.

I like her, nice eurasian features. She could be the daughter of a Mongolian and a Finn. Nice mods too, I'm going to have to pretty up ME1 like that if I ever want to play it again.

Well my Internet crapped out again when trying to upload the same videos... and it failed in the exact same spot so that cannot be a coincidence. So I am encoding the videos this time to reduce the file size and see if that works. I may or may not play Mass Effect 3 tonight.

Yeah I am trying to not make all the characters I create look the same.

I've been playing Fallout New Vegas for the last week. Gambling is very addictive.

I will try to continue my playthrough through Vega's eyes tomorrow

Are you using the Hauppauge? Sometimes when I try to upload directly from the capture software it craps out, and sometimes it succeeds in uploading, only to have the video fail to process. At that point I convert it to WMV format an upload.

My current Shepard is mostly Paragon as well. I keep getting tempted to pick a Renegade option here and there, but then I have to remind myself that it wouldn't fit her. Man, I need to make this character become more jaded so I can start taking some of those Renegade options. (It would also help make some of the combat easier, like killing off the speaker for clan Weyrloc.)

How do you apply mods to ME1? That armour is brilliant but the only mod I've ever used with the first game is the MEUITM and that does everything automatically.

Actually got some stuff done today :) Only Citadel DLC, Cronos and Earth left (I'm not playing Omega as I don't like it that much).

Lots of videos today ;)

Cortez took James, Javik and me to Sanctuary on Horizon, a shelter for refugees. EDI informed us it went offline recently, and Cortez picked up a message from inside, a warning from Miranda's sister Oriana! Ok, this sounds like trouble.

But what we saw when we arrived doesn't really match only trouble. The place was wrecked. Burning pieces, debris scattered around, and my hope that nothing happened to these poor people here vanished quickly. When we moved out we saw Cerberus shuttles depart, with a Harvester chasing them. So did they finally start fighting each other? Would be a nice turn for a change.

We took care of some Cerberus leftovers that were coming for us and entered the facility. The inside painted a just as hopeless picture than what we've already witnessed outside. The place was damaged and empty, not a soul in there, and we set out to find some clues as to what happened here.

Soon we stumbled over more Cerberus soldiers and we found another warning message left behind by Oriana.

Close by was an area with lots of water, and after draining it we climbed down into what looked like a secret entrance. Turned out it was... It's hard to describe what we've seen down there. It's sickening. Gradually we found more and more evidence that Cerberus was using the refugees in gruesome experiments... turning them into husks and trying to control them. Eventually succeeding. Everything conducted by none other than Miranda's father, for the Illusive Man. Figures. Absolutely disgusting. I know it was hard for James seeing this, too, but we had to leave this behind us. We dealt with several more Reaper forces, or... refugees? I don't even want to think about it. We just did what we had to and reached our destination, the tower, soon enough. We found Henry Lawson holding his daughter hostage, gun drawn on us. I could've almost shot him, and I would've, but Oriana was in the way the whole time. I tried to get him to let her go, but this was taking too long... damn it, come on, she's your daughter! And then it happened. I saw the two of them fall down to the lower level, falling to their deaths. F*ck... James's offer of solace didn't really help, and now Oriana is dead because I wasn't quick enough. Or not smart enough.

There was one upside to all this though. We got data on Cerberus's shuttles coming and leaving, we can track them... We can finish Cerberus with this.

Back on the Normandy we plotted course to the near Kepler Verge cluster in order to regain a comm facility taken over by Cerberus. I had time to check up on the crew and EDI had another question about human behaviour. Our chat made her come to the conclusion to change her self-preservation code. Seeing as the Reapers are driven by nothing else than that, EDI didn't want to be like them. She seems to care a lot about Joker, as he is the reason she would be giving her "life" for. Kinda sweet of her. I just made sure that she still was going to fight the Reapers, not avoiding them. We need to throw everything we got at them. But she understood perfectly.

Tali was drinking alone in the Lounge. I didn't bother her for too long, seemed she needed to overcome a lot of issues about her father and Miranda by herself, poor girl.

I found Javik with images of the Normandy displayed on his screen, and he had found out this is the second Normandy, and that I once died... Yeah, still a pretty crazy story.

We talked about how we both went down and got up again to fight Reapers, something we share. But Javik also said that I had something to fight for, my crew, and if they are the reason for wanting to continue to live. I care for them, and even got way too close to some, but I know they could die at any point now. And I'm prepared for it. Both Javik and I want to keep people at distance. Just in my case, it doesn't work that well anymore as it used to...

My eyes caught something and I asked Javik about it. An echo shard. Memories of years of Prothean life, handed down from soldier to soldier, and now Javik possessed it. I asked him if he didn't want to remember his people. He told me he didn't, and asked if everyone I knew was dead, but had forgotten about their faces and the pain, and I would relive everything by touching the shard, would I still want to remember?

No... Easy answer. After Mindoir everyone I knew and loved was dead, and I grieved for a long time. Even now I still feel it. Because of who I am, because it made me into the person I am. And I got rid of everything that reminded me of Mindoir afterwards, I couldn't face it. The nightmares and images burned into my brain were enough mementos for a lifetime. Ones I didn't even want. I feel for Javik, I really do. He implied he had to kill his squad... This loss can't be easy for him, just as it wasn't for me. Incredible how I feel so... connected to him, to an alien. The aliens I used to distrust and had a lot of prejudices about. Guess I did learn my lesson.

I left Javik to whatever he was doing before and finished catching up with everyone.

After taking care of the communication hub we turned our attention to some fuel reactors, a vital depot for the Alliance. Unfortunately Reaper forces entered the place and Captain Riley and her team were almost completely annihilated. They went down fighting at least...

Our next part is really important, attacking the Illusive Man's base. We can't afford any mistakes there, so everyone needs to be in top shape. And that counts for the Normandy, too. Hackett had sent an e-mail about it a while ago for her to undergo maintenance, but we've been so busy, one thing led to another and... well, we are here now. Finally.

It's kinda... nice to have some shore leave, maybe get all this stress out of your system. I feel like lately the only things we've done were running, chasing, never really stopping. Good to be catching our breaths for once. After that all that's left is the thing that counts most. Our fight with the Reapers, and I need everybody ready and at their best...

That Javik conversation :( It really hit close to home with my current Shepard, it's amazing sometimes how she's rather similar to Javik, absolutely loving it :D

I think it is the MEUITM mod. I would like the mods more if I could apply individually and not the whole thing. My crappy laptop can't handle the entire mod for too long. It starts to derp the game.

Correct, it is the MEUITM mod.
I'm not going to be as screen shot obsessive this time as it takes far too long.
Maybe just a few (Ha! Famous last words).

Today, I had a buggy Grissom Academy.

In the last assault, one Centurion decided he didn't want to come out and was hiding in the upper hallway.  The students' barrier was still degrading even though he was the only one left of the field.  Thankfully, he was close enough to the wall for my singularity to chip away at his shields, then a few AP shots through the wall.  After that, Rodriguez was invisible for the final cutscene so Shepard dragged nothing away from the Cerberus troops.

You know, I had a run through ME2 end game on an old char the other day and apart from the more numerous BEs in ME3, generally the combat in ME2 feels better.
