Today I play SWTOR while listening to Mass Effect ost. Hoth really feels like Noveria today.

And hey, I found something familiar...

Lol, are you taking it with the in-game screenshot command?

Nah, fraps.

i forgot how tedious the first section of the Citadel is. And also the weird dramatic music that plays when the attempt to get Saren disbarred fails. It's very weird.

Still being 100% paragon, even to Harkin (that took some doing I can tell you).

You know, I had a run through ME2 end game on an old char the other day and apart from the more numerous BEs in ME3, generally the combat in ME2 feels better.

Yeah, I really liked the combat mechanics in ME2. ME3 is a lot more polished, but a lot of the changes and additions to the ME3 combat mechanics feel... I don't know, half-baked at times.

(Aaaah! Just writing this comment makes me want to go back to play ME2... but I would need to play ME1 first. I have a few new Shepards in mind.)

Are you using the Hauppauge? Sometimes when I try to upload directly from the capture software it craps out, and sometimes it succeeds in uploading, only to have the video fail to process. At that point I convert it to WMV format an upload.

I use the Hauppauge, but I don't know what you mean by trying to upload directly from the capture software. The video files come out as MP4 files, and that is what I tried to upload.

What I ended up doing was processing them through Windows Movie Maker and saving them "For YouTube" which cuts down the file size. I uploaded them separately. My Internet crapped out after uploading the second video (stuck on "Processing 0%"; I hate it when that happens), but they are now both up.

I know the feeling! I've been listening the ME trilogy soundtrack on youtube and it's making me want to play again. Just need to tear myself away from Thedas first.....

The opening on the Citadel remains one of my favourite sections.

It shows that human concerns, your concerns, just really aren't that important to the other races.

That's what Mass effect 1 got across so well. Humanity wasn't this awesome uber force.

Today I got all excited when Nihlus told me this was going to be the first of several missions together, because I wanted to hang out with that sexy turian. Then he went all lone wolf and got oneshot by Saren.  What a scrub

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree - certainly on the first or second playthroughs. After that it is mainly a whole lot of running from point a to b to c to a.

The first thing I do is run around and activate all the quick travel terminals I can. Not a lot of running around after that.

Brad Shepard (Marksman Sentinel) met with Ann Bryson on the Citadel, who was understandably upset that her father was dead. But she agreed to help find Leviathan by putting herself in harms way to become possessed by Leviathan so we could track him down. So Brad, EDI, and James -- with no other options -- let her do it. After getting a general idea where Leviathan was, they shut it down and went hunting.

They eventually found Leviathan's location, whereby they were promptly shot down by a strange pulse. A Reaper flew in and starting dropping ground troops to try and kill everyone but Shepard was too good and killed them all first. Then Shepard hopped in a re-skinned Atlas mech Triton mech, and dove under water to find Leviathan. He did, and it was huge. Leviathan's buddies were also huge.

After somehow convincing Leviathan to join the war (it may or may not have involved sexual favors; don't tell Liara), they hightailed it out of there.

I used the Revenant this time. Still trying to find a weapon I like using with Marksman.

Thessia.

Today, I can understand having Liara lose her grip on things upon seeing Thessia being torn apart but I can't bring myself to feel the way Bioware tries to tell us Shepard does. Up until then, we had started off pretty bleakly, but got the Turians, then the Krogans, the Quarians, the Salarians, and the Asari on-board.

What for is Shepard moping about, feeling sorry for herself, taking it as being her job to know that Cerberus would commandeer a freaking gunship in Asari airspace?

A setback at some point was very much expected, wasn't it? So, what's with all the drama? What's with looking emptily at the blinking call from the Asari councilor?

Why should I feel so damn guilty that somehow 'I let her down'? I didn't let her down; I was there, I fought, it's not over yet.

After doing all of that, coming this far, am I about to let that little piece of sh*t a**-kisser continue to think the sun shines out of his butt?!

Shooting at that gunship, my Shepard would be telling Kai Leng "Yeah you better run motherf*cker! Coz I will hunt your sorry a** down! You better keep running!"

Virmire to Ilos.  So we went off to Virmire based on a tip from the council.  We had to go in the Mako to take out some Geth and AA towers.  After a few fights we come across Cpt. Kirahhe and the Salarian STG.  The Normandy landed for further support.  I come to learn that once again the council really blew it.  The Salarians lost much of their force and needed heavy reinforcements.  Can't the council get anything right?

As I'm talking to the captain he mentions Saren and the genophage.  Wrex went nuts about this.  It put me in a real tight spot.  I decided to go over and talk to Wrex who was firing his shotgun to scare the Salarians most likely.  I tried to get him to focus on the mission when he points his gun at me!  I draw mine in self-defense.  Normally I kill any fool to point a weapon at me but I really wanted to convince Wrex that the genophage had to wait.  So I put my gun away hoping Wrex would follow suit but he didn't.  After some more talking I thought I was finally making some progress and was just about to mention his family's suit of armor when BAM!  Ash shoots Wrex.  Then she comes over and pumps another round into his head as he's lying down on the ground.

I hit the roof and raise holy hell about this.  She thought she saw him pulling the trigger and I do have to admit that Wrex was partly to blame for not lowering his weapon or putting it away like I did.  Kaiden also was upset about it but Garrus, Tali and Liara didn't much care.

The Salarians were glad Wrex was killed and mad that I made them bury Wrex.  Then Cpt. Kirahhe came up with a plan.  Basically they would use an assault with three groups while my team known as shadow would sneak in the back way.  After I'm in they would pull back and be picked up.  They wanted one of my team so I had to pick Kaiden.  After all Ash just shot an alien and who knows what she might do.  Her judgement hasn't been the best lately.

So we set off.  Now I was supposed to sneak in but I don't recall sneaking to have so many firefights.  I felt a straight beeline to the complex would be best.  Garrus wanted me to go look for things that might help the Salarians out but we don't have time for side trips.  As I got to the complex I heard some radio chatter about flyers and drones but I wasn't going to go look for them and have my position tipped off.  I killed some Korgans and got into the complex.  However, the door was locked and an alarm would go off.  I decided to reroute the alarm to the other side.  Hopefully the Salarians will be smart enough to know I got in and pull back and not continue the attack at that time.

Moving through the complex I came across Salarians that tried to kill me.  Clearly these aren't allies so I have to be real careful here.  One Salarian was in a cage and wanted out.  I declined and he ran and smashed his brains out.  Something strange is going on.  I came across a Salarian Lt. and he explained this indoctrination.  I let him out and told him to run for it.  Not sure I did the right thing.

After more fighting I came across an Asari named Rana.  She explained all about the reaper ship and indoctrination.  She said any prolonged contact results in indoctrination and no one is immune.  Then she wanted to go free.  But she just basically confirmed that she had to be indoctrinated!  I shot her myself.  Some premonition told me I would run across here again if I didn't take her out now.

I found another beacon and then I actually talked to a reaper named Soverign.  Seems they have a plan to kill all organics and he's the tip of the spear.  Now everything makes sense to me.  I pumped him for information as best I could then he left.  This just turned into a real big war as he said there were basically thousands of these reaper ships.  God help us now.

I raced to the area to plant the bomb.  The Normandy dropped it off and Ash was arming it when I got a message that Kaiden and some Salarians were trapped.  Why didn't they retreat when they had the chance to?  So I went off to rescue them.  On the way there I get a message that Ashley and the crew were under attack at the bomb.  I could only go to the aid of one of them.  I decided to go back to Ashley because I was afraid she would screw it up or the Geth would capture the bomb and defuse it.  We had to destory the place.  That was the priority.

As I got there Ashley appeared to be wounded and the other crew were dead or gone.  I killed the Geth when Saren appears.  Oh joy.  The dumb bastard is indoctrinated and doesn't even know it.  He thinks he can make a deal with the reapers.  After a brief talk we have a brief fight and I punch him in the face.  He then ran away.  I board the Normandy and we leave.

Now they said that the bomb was about 20Kt in power.  This is the same as an old WW2 atomic weapon.  Taking off the shock wave and size of the blast look and feel like a million Mt instead of 20Kt.  Either they lied about the strength or Joker was goofing around and made it feel like a blast wave while the atmosphere distorted the blast to be hundreds of time larger than it actually was.

Liara mind melds with me and mostly gets visuals of all the sex positions I plan to use with her.  She also says that Ilos is where we need to go.  After this she was weak, probably from all the dirty thoughts I had.  I talk to the council and the idiots ignore the reaper intel and instead focus on Saren.  After cutting them off I decide to go back to the Citadel and demand they do something.  Virmire was a costly mission.  Wrex, Kaiden, Cpt Kirahhe and many other Salarians were all killed down there.  I also talked to Ashley about Kaiden and she was a pity-party.  Feeling sorry for herself and saying it should have been her.  It should have but as I said I know she would have messed up the bomb and the mission would have failed.  I told her to move on and get over it.

When I get to the Citadel the ****** Udina changes sides and joins with the council.  They ignore me and ground me.  I was livid and decided to sulk by the lockers.  Liara came over to get it on when Joker interrupted us to mention that Anderson wanted to see me.  On the way to meet with him I ran across a politician from Earth that was saying the wrong thing, considering the death of Wrex, and the fact that I had Garrus and Liara with me at the time. So  I told him to get lost.  And then another guy wanted me to get drugs for him.  I'm no pusher so I told him to go fly a kite.

I met with Anderson and he had a plan.  He agreed with me that Ilos is the key and I have to get there.  He would either break into ground control or hack Udina's computer.  It was much better to hack Udina's computer.  I heard he even punched the bastard out.

So we headed off to Ilos.  On the way Liara finally got frisky enough to come see me.  After 20 hours of non-stop sex Joker interrupted to say we were 5 mintues out of the relay.  When we got to Ilos Joker cracked me up saying that the Geth could see us.  I guess it was a joke because we know the Geth don't have windows on their ships because they are structual weak areas.

Everyone but Garrus wa sin the cockpit (the small room at the front of the ship but that's not important right now).  They argued about where to land.  Joker said he would get us near Saren.  So Garrus, Liara and I set off and landed on Ilos.

Today I lost Wrex and Kaiden, shot Rana personally and lost Cpt. Kirahhe along with much of his unit.

I'm getting close to finishing ME1 and starting ME2.  I have a number of options but would like to ask for some input.  This play through is basically a disaster run where a max number of people are killed.  But not because I'm a complete psycho.  Some deaths are out of cruelty but many are like Riddick killing a threat while others happen despite my best intentions.  And finally some happen because I just really messed up like the characters in Dumb and Dumber.  So having said that I'm wondering where the following characters should be killed, ME2 or ME3.  I also list where I'm leaning.

Miranda - ME3

Tali - ME3

Legion - ME3

Grunt - ME3

Samara - ME3

Thane - ME3

Zaeed - ME3

Jack - ME2

Jacob - ME2

Mordin - ME2

Garrus - ME2

Kasumi - ME2

My differences would be

Kasumi - ME3 (would require you to forego using the Locust)

Zaeed - ME2

Thane - ME2

Mordin - ME3 (be sure to save the cure data so you are forced to shoot him.)

Jack - ME3 (if you're willing to skip Grissom, otherwise ME2)

Isn't it hard to keep Kasumi alive in ME2 unless you do her loyalty mission?  And if you do the loyalty mission she lives in ME3.  So how can you do that unless you skip recruiting her till after the suicide mission?

Depends if you want to see their death or not. For example, you can skip out on recruiting Samara and Thane altogether. (And since Thane was never recruited and you killed Kirrahee, the Salarian councillor will die. Uh..., spoilers?)

Jack in ME2, easily if you do not upgrade the Normandy. Although I prefer killing her myself in ME2 by skipping Grissom Academy. Same with "Legion" if you give him to Cerberus in ME2.

I think you can only kill Grunt in ME3 if you do not do his loyalty mission in ME2. Same with Kasumi.

Easiest to have Kasumi killed in ME2 if you do not upgrade the Normandy shields (do not upgrade or do not recruit Tali at all).

Might be better to kill Mordin in ME3 than ME2; with Wrex dead (Wreav alive), makes it easier to shoot Mordin to prevent the genophage from begin cured, although you will need to keep Maelon's research data in ME2. With Wrex dead and no research data, you can convince Mordin to live, although you could probably ignore the Charm+Intimidate options and shoot him anyway.

Definitely kill Jacob in ME2. He does volunteer for vent duty after all.

I agree with Miranda in ME3.

Good point. So this is what I came up with.

Characters marked with * are loyal

Characters killed before final assault:

Garrus(* optional, doesn't matter) - Vents

Jacob - 2nd fire team lead

Thane(* optional, doesn't matter) - seeker swarm - Miranda does the bubble, second team mate can be anyone

Hold the line team

Miranda* = 2

Grunt = 3

Legion* = 2

Samara* = 2

Kasumi = 0

Zaeed = 3

HTL score = 12 / 6 squad mate >= 2 everyone lives

Mordin* - escort

Shepard's final team - Tali*, Jack*

Miranda dies on Horizon because you do not give her Alliance resources

Kasumi dies during the Jondum Bau mission

Zaeed dies during the Din Korlack mission

Jack gets turned into a phantom

Grunt dies fighting the Rachni

Samara shoots herself

Tali dies when you side with the Geth

Legion dies when he commits suicide to give the reaper code to the other geth (for added pathos, pick destroy)

Mordin is shot by Shepard at the Shroud

Ashley is shot by either Shepard or a team mate (don't visit her in the hospital)

If you were trying to be a girl scout, why did you bring Wrex on the Fist mission? I had Kat Shepard not recruit Wrex until he accosted us at the elevator because there is no way she would have put up with Wrex shooting Fist (and because Wrex makes a better case why he should be on the team at the elevator).
