Spoiler

For some stupid reason, this is what I thought of:

Shepard: I swear I can feel someone watching everything I do.

Kaidan: Are you sure you are all right, Commander?

I was helping out Tali on Rannoch, but then Ash decided she needs to lie down for a moment. Hangover stuff. My poor girl.

Meant to do some last night but was too knackered from work and looking after a little gremlin. She's 7 months already! Blimey.

After about a month or so away from Mass Effect, I decided to pick up the series again, if only briefly.

I decided to play NG+ with my original John Shepard (Soldier). I will have him romance Kaidan this playthrough, the first time I have ever done that.

And because I want to keep my playstyle somewhat fresh, I am going to play it a little like an ME1 Soldier. So:

  • Pistols: Predator, Carnifex, maybe Paladin
  • Assault Rifles: Avenger, Vindicator, Geth Pulse Rifle, Lancer
  • Sniper Rifles: Mantis, Viper
  • Shotguns: Katana, Scimitar

I took Fortification for always-on Damage Reduction and shield recharge bonus, but I might switch it later to Defense Matrix for the shield boost. It would have a long cooldown, but then ME1 also had long cooldowns.

It will not be a true ME1-style Soldier since I am using Disruptor Ammo (it was not an ammo type in ME1) and I am using non N7 armor pieces.

Even with negative weapon weight, Concussive Shot has a reasonable cooldown (about 17 seconds or less, which is reasonable compared to what Adrenaline Rush would have been).

Anyway, John Shepard:

1. Talked to the Committee.

Spoiler

Reapers attacked, destroying Vancouver. On the bright side, rent will now become affordable.

2. Landed on Mars.

Fought with Cerberus,.

Argued with Kaiden

Fought Cerberus again.

Met Liara

Fought Cerberus again.

Argued with Kaiden again

Fought Cerberus again.

Argued with the Illusive Man.

Chased a Cerberus assassin that turned out to be a robot.

Watched as Kaiden got his head beat in by the robot.

Shot the robot.

How come we don't have a robot?

3. Went to the Citadel, argued with the Citadel Council.

Visited Kaiden in the hospital.

Invited some reporter on to the Normandy because it is good PR.

4. Had weird dream. Talked to the crew. Beat up James.

Traveled the galaxy searching for credits, resources, and items that could be exchanged for War Assets. (Boring. Wished I could beat up James again.)

5. Landed at a Cerberus Lab, picked up some Reaper Tech and sent it to Hackett. (Wait. Was that a good idea? Can Hackett's team become indoctrinated from studying that Reaper Tech? Welp, too late now.)

What is a non-N7 armor piece?

What is a non-N7 armor piece?

N7 armor piece = +10% health

Kassa Fabrication, Serrice Council, Hadne-Kedar, Armax Arsenal, whatever armor pieces offer different benefits.

More John Shepard:

1. John went to Palaven, but landed on Manae -- one of its moons -- instead. While on Menae, he picked off Reaper troops, picked up Garrus, then picked off more Reaper troops, then picked up Genera; Victus who was the new Primarch.

2. Then John got a new robot when EDI downloaded herself (or something like that) into the Cerberus robot body. The robot could be useful. He still hates talking to EDI though; he still wishes he found a way into the AI Core (back in ME2) to deactivate EDI permanently. John hates AIs BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS TRY TO KILL HIM!

3. John traveled back to the Citadel. He dropped off some packages, then bought Kaiden a bottle of wine and had a small chat.

4. John then ran all over the Citadel eavesdropping on conversations and doing some leg work for Aria because she is surrounded by incompetent people apparently. Small wonder Cerberus took over Omega; large wonder how she managed to hold on to Omega for so long.

5. Flew all over the galaxy picking up some more stuff, then back to the Citadel for some deliveries.

6. Talked to Aria at Dock 42.

7. Met Dr. Bryson. Watched Dr. Bryson get shot by his assistant. Tackled his assistant and pinned him 1-2-3. It was his Wrestlemania moment.

8. Tracked down Dr. Garneau's location, then flew all over the galaxy again to get more stuff.

John wishes he could beat up James again; that was actually fun. Being the galaxy's delivery boy is not so fun. But at least now he is docked at Grissom Academy and ready to shoot Cerberus!

Rescued Tali from the Geth.

Recruited Thane. Probably should have hit incinerate rather than Print Screen.

After a couple of drinks, Matriarch Aethyta wasn't looking too bad.
Spoiler

Helped Morinth get rid of her mum.
Spoiler

Spoke with a crazy women while helping Jacob.
Spoiler

Helped Grunt get through Puberty, & won the admiration of a Sharman.
Spoiler

Helped Mordin kill his old apprentice. (worse part of ME2 Renegade is killing young Darg, the Urdnot scout)
Spoiler

Helped Miranda with her sister.
Spoiler

Found an intact Geth & sold it to Cerberus.
Spoiler

Helped Liara storm the Shadow Brokers' base.
Spoiler

Assaulted the collector base. It was my first time taking Zaheed on the suicide mission & I thought he'd make a good Fire Team Leader. Tali probably wished I'd gone with Garrus, but it was a quick death. Then we saw they were making a human reaper.
Spoiler

Helped TIM by keeping the collector base intact.

You know, for a Renegade, I seemed to spend a lot of time helping people.

Long time no post guys, so I am back!!! Busy with midterm, Ansys mesh rendering and trying to overclock my pc ahaha.

Anyway I was thinking of doing a mass effect 3 modded gameplay but I want to edit it and make insanity more harder, like mass effect 2? Would anyone be interested in seeing this or if anyone has any tips? I know I can make shepard carry all weapons by just editing the weight encomberment values I am just wondering how can i increase the health pool and add more layers of protection to enemies :v

Played some more John Shepard today. Let's see if I can remember what I did:

1. Boarded Grissom Academy. Met Kahlee Sanders. Killed Cerberus. Met Jack who punched me; glad she did not biotically punch me. Kill more Cerberus. Killed a Cerberus Engineer next to an Atlas Mech. Considered getting into the mech before remembering I do not really need it. Killed more Cerberus, got off the station and back to the Normandy.

2. Met with the diplomats, everyone was shouting. Somehow we agreed to go pick up some Krogan females from a Salarian facility.

3. Landed on Sur'Kesh at the facility. Wrex got angry because the Salarians were not as prompt as expected; or maybe he was just angry because he is Krogan (it is really hard to tell). Only one Krogan female survived. Cerberus attacked the facility. We killed Cerberus and got the Krogan female out safely.

4. Cerberus had taken over a ground-to-space cannon on Tuchanka, so we landed and killed Cerberus, and took over the cannon for the Alliance. Where is Cerberus getting all these troops?

5. Went to a planet to investigate Rachni rumors for Wrex. Met Grunt. Grunt is still Krogan. Found out the Reapers were breeding modified Rachni troops for the war. Found the queen, got her out alive. Grunt went all Krogan on the remaining Rachni troops.

6. Cerberus was attacking civilians on Benning. We landed on Benning, shot Cerberus full of holes, and rescued some civilians.

7. Went to the Citadel and delivered some packages and talked to a few people like Miranda and Cortez. Also talked to Liara on the Normandy who showed me her time capsule; wondered what it would take to convince her to add a few games on there, just in case future archaeologists get bored.

So tonight I finished off this:

Spoiler

  • I like this mission, the initial heist concept is well setup, even if it does just deteriorate into cover shooting
  • How none of the guests heard the mess I was making in the bedroom / security room I have no idea
  • The combat music has hints of the Mass Effect theme in it
  • The Kasumi ninja moves on the gunship is a bit daft
  • They should have made more of the secrets within the greybox. Another interesting story that could've occurred within the Mass Effect universe washed down the pan (I let her keep it)
  • I don't like the Locust
  • I could've sworn that in the ambient dialogue Shep was referred to as 'he'
  • This dress is so much better than the Citadel abomination

Take it your playing a biotic this time based on the way your Shep's glowing.I quite like the Locust actually it's probably my fave SMG in the game i tend to use it as my main weapon on my characters when I pick it up. I did this mission earlier as well. it is a little crazy in places but it is a fun mission.

More John Shepard:

1. Went to cure the genophage. Landed on Tuchanka, shot some husks. Nearly got crushed by a fighter, then went spelunking through some ruins. (Can you spelunk through ruins, or is spelunking restricted to caves?) Got to ride a Tomka truck, twice(!), but Wrex did not let me man the turret (booo!). Avoided getting chewed on by a Thresher Maw, avoided getting lasered by a Reaper, and finally avoided getting stepped on by a Reaper. Killed a lot of Brutes. Watched Mordin die like a badass scientist. I will miss Mordin.

2. Had a bad dream, talked to a bunch of crewmates.

3. Raided a Cerberus Fighter Base. Cerberus really likes dropping Atlas mechs from out of the sky (first one was on Sur'Kesh).

4. Went to go meet the Salarian Councilor, but ended up fighting a bunch of Cerberus goons in the midst of a coup attempt. Saved Commander Bailey, saved the Salarian Councilor, but failed to save Thane from getting stabbed. Chased down the assassin, but then he assassinated my skycar with a sword (that was embarrasing). Managed to save the rest of the council, managed to not shoot Kaiden, but did shoot Udina which felt really good.

Side note: some really good dialogue between EDI and James on this mission.

5. Talked to a bunch of people and solved a few problems on the Citadel. Bumped into Kaiden on the way out, invited him back onto the Normandy.

Next up: More talking, more planet scanning, more Citadel, then Monastery time (I want Gallae's Signature intel so I can get another 5% store discount).

The Locust is amazing! :D

Okaaay, so... has been quite a while since my last post, but I did a lot of side missions over the past week. Let's see how everything went!

My team and I found Nassana Dantius and she was not even upset her sister was dead. Okay. Um, alright. Next we went to see Admiral Kahoku again and tell him that we found his men dead. He said he'd look into it.

I helped a couple of people on the Citadel, like that hot girl in Chora's Den... Where I previously also ran into a member of my old gang. He asked me to help release one of his buddies who had been arrested by turians. I talked to a turian in the bar who knew about this case and he told me that my old gang had turned into a violent anti-alien movement. Didn't sound good so I sided with the turian and told this Finch guy to f*ck off. We were not like that back then...

We left the Citadel and followed Kahoku's new leads. A group called Cerberus is doing some pretty crazy stuff, experiments and sh*t, and in the end, we even found poor Kahoku dead. Bastards... they paid for this as we took down one of their bases for good.

We also took care of a crazy biotic girlfriend in a freighter, who could not let go of her basically dead boyfriend.

A missing survey team we looked for turned out to have been transformed into husks, that was a mess. So many dead. But there were more bad things happening. Hackett sent me to disable an old espionage probe, but it was a trap! Laid by Elanos Haliat, the guy behind the Skyllian Blitz. Said something about getting his revenge because of what I did. Not his lucky day. I disabled the bomb and killed him and his mooks. A bit less scum.

My team and I also took care of two crime bosses and then met up with Helena Blake, who had approached me earlier on the Citadel about taking them down. Now of course Helena wanted to play boss, but I was able to make her disband the gang. Surely a woman like her can find better use for her talents somewhere. I got out of the gang thing, too, I know what I talk about.

After taking care of all this stuff we finally headed for Noveria. Kaidan and Tali went with me, and after some hassle with letting us in, my Spectre status was finally confirmed and we could proceed. A woman named Gianna Parasini welcomed us. Damn, what a looker.

We found out we need a pass to get to Peak 15 where Liara's mother Matriach Benezia went. So we were sent to talk to a guy called Anoleis. Calls the shots here apparently. He was a real ass though and I wasn't in the mood to play nice with him. Douche bag. Of course we didn't get our pass either.

Luckily that Parasini woman had an alternative and sent us to Lorik Qui'in, a turian who had some trouble with Anoleis right about now. We helped him and were approached by Gianna afterwards. She's actually with Internal Affairs and asked me to get Qui'in to testify against Anoleis with evidence we just got for Qui'in. Anoleis is not so innocent, ha.

Qui'in was reluctant, but a little threat from my side made him reconsider. I let Gianna know and she made the arrest. I was pleased to see this guy gone from that place. And... we had our pass. Finally. Kaidan had the idea to take Liara with us so she might reason with her mother, so Kaidan and I picked her up and were on our way. Let's see what the hell's going on at Peak 15.

Some pictures!

Spoiler

Also started hunting for The Rachni/Krogan Team Vega dialogues today. Looks like fun (not). Probably gonna take a while to get it done :D

  • I don't like the Locust

Wait... What?

You must be the first person Ive seen not to like it. Something new every day.

Im on the other extreme. Whenever Im using a non soldier class shepard I rely too much on this gun. So much that ever since Ive used it for the first time Ive basically neglected all other SMGs in ME2. My informal rule is to try the loyalty missions only after recruiting everyone, but if I am using a non-soldier class shepard I always recruit kasumi first and immediately jump into her personal quest.

I wish I could share some of my recent playing experiences with you people, but there are none to speak of. Ever since my motherboard toasted (45 days ago) im without a desktop computer at home and unable to play. Hopefully in just a few weeks more I will have a brand new machine with a much better video card. While Im anxious to play witcher 3 and batman arkham knight I will always have a soft spot for Mass Effect and some time for it on my schedule.

I think I will even try to make, finally, my canonical shepard. Or the closest thing to it. Hopefully, see ya in a few more days.

Yeah, but she lacks precision, even for a SMG. Strangelly, the squad-mates appear to make precise shots with the tempest. I always equip myself with Locust and if my squad-mates can use smgs, I always give them tempest. I mean, always after recruiting Tali. Until then its locust for them as well.

I do like the tempest, however, when I need to go against geth primes or the geth colossus. Theyre so big that one has to be very dumb and blind in order to miss the target.

I always give the squadies the Tempest but have Shepard use the Locust. The only mission I have used the Tempest on is the Dead Reaper where accuracy doesn't matter because of the way the Husks clump up.

It is not just squadies who are deadly accurate with the Tempest. Any NPC with the Tempest is extremely accurate and lays down a seemingly endless stream fire on you. Just look at this Salarian Engineer making my life difficult starting at 12:00.
