I don't understand the love some have for Thane. The philosophical discussions are indeed interesting, but he's just a murderer who hides behind philosophy in order to avoid responsibility for his actions. Can you call him out on this? If so, it's good: if not, it's bad.
I agree, the Drell philosophy sounds to me like a get out of guilt card, not a basis for a reasonable world view. That and I find his ME3 role just awful from the hospital meetup to his idiotic charge at Kai Leng when he had him dead to rights, then to the Citadel funeral. He is my designated vent-boy in the suicide mission.

The get out of guilt card is probably right. After all the Drell have perfect memories and if they would need that split in order to stop going mad.
I just did priority Citadel and noticed how stupid Thane getting stabbed was.
I mean how did he miss 10046034689948 times with his gun when he's a pro?! And why did no one else shoot and help him?

Especially at the start when he had his pistol point blank aimed at Leng's head. Then Shepard & party just stand and fidget while the whole travesty plays out. My canon has Thane and Kirrahe dead, the scene isn't perfect but it makes much more sense and it gives Udina a nice doctored video to confront you with.

Oh yeah. As much as I didn't care for Thane, they totally messed up his death. He shows martial arts skills in his trailer and his ME2 recruitment mission, but he decides to jump attack a guy that has a sword. Meanwhile, Shepard just watches like a jerk.
You can't send the guy into the vent who was going through vents when you meet him! It's not a real complaint since the issue is the door at the end and not the vent itself, but it's funny.

These are indeed the questions of the galaxy. BW does keep us thinking.
Sooo, did a bit more stuff the past week, so it's not really today, but who cares
We dealt with Corporal Toombs and a scientist. Toombs was very upset and wanted to kill him, and after hearing what the scientist and his buddies did I wanted to bring this guy in, make this case public. It was Cerberus again... Toombs did not agree so unfortunately I had to shoot him. These damn scientists need to be exposed.
Up next we dealt with Dr. Heart. I took Garrus along and he was glad to take this SOB down, but not before we killed some more of his test subjects. Horrible stuff. One of the things spat acid on me, ew.
I also managed to get Chairman Burns out alive. He was held hostage by a group of biotics, but I appealed to them and it seems both sides are going to get what they want. Could've gone a lot worse.
It was finally time to head to Feros, to investigate the geth presence there. Tali, Kaidan and I left the Normandy and found ourselves in a fight with these damn robots immediately. We shot all of them and proceeded to the colony, Zhu's Hope. No one would really give us answers, only told us to speak to some Fai Dan guy, so we made our way to him.
He explained the problems here, geth were there in numbers and up to no good. We fought off another wave, then took the opportunity to ask the colonists about their troubles with the colony, they had problems with water, varren, power cells and of course the geth. We went to go find solutions for these problems. We met a guy on our way, but he seemed to have lost it. Something strange was going on with him. Upon returning after taking care of everything, Fai Dan reacted a bit weird, and some of the colonists, too. Something definitely is going on.
So we headed towards the ExoGeni building with the Mako in order to find more answers, met a group of their employees on the way, and eventually the daughter of one of them, Lizbeth Baynham, in the geth-infested ExoGeni HQ. We learned the scientists were studying an alien plant called Thorian. I don't even wanna know... it's under the colony and mind-controlling the colonists right now. Great.
We dealt with the geth and their big ship and returned to the colonists. Thanks to a nerve gas I got from the mother of Lizbeth I was able to save all colonists while killing off some creepy abominations. We found the hidden entrance to the Thorian and after countless more of these Thorian Creepers we killed the big plant off for good. To my surprise, an asari popped out of it, but she seemed friendly. Shiala was her name, and she was working for Liara's mom until she... well.
She told us more about Saren's plans, and that he got the Cipher from the Thorian that would help with the Beacon's vision. I wanted it too and she kindly gave it to me. She wanted to stay and help the colonists and I thought this was a good idea. She seems like a sweet person. We left the colony to return to the Normandy, gotta bring the crew up to speed, and soon we're going to head to Virmire.
I went along with a Sniper Rifle for some time now (mainly because I still needed that trophy for it ), but I tried out the shotgun for the Thorian mission, and damn, I actually really liked it. Wouldn't have thought that. I might be even willing to try it out some more in ME2, but that remains to be seen, haha. Since I'm usually hanging way back this might not be a really good choice for me and I'd probably rather switch to Sniper Rifle again.

Dealing with Toombs and the mad scientist
Hey there, buddy. Aren't you a cute-looking innocent space cow?
This is what happens if you try to run past them and accidentally go into cover position
Lifting, woooo!
Uh, I think the subtitle betrays you, Dr. Heart Saleon.
Sniping geth.
That guy decided to just hang out there
I always love the view here, I look up there every time, haha.
I hope geth don't feel anything between their legs
Some sabotaging and overloading. Looks pretty.
Fear me, Jeong! I'm the mighty Spectre.
Got you covered, Kaidan.
More lifting fun
Bye, Shiala. Same to you!

You remember of course that there isn't just one geth getting his bits crushed - but around a thousand. Ouch.
Finally, FINALLY, I have purchased everything and upgraded all the weapons for John Shepard. Except Medi-gel upgrade but who cares about those. It was tedious and boring and extremely repetitive just grinding waves in the simulator but now I am done.
Tomorrow I shall meet up with more squadmates, purchase the party supplies, and then throw the party. And then hopefully finish the playthrough after that.
The Chairman Burns quest always bothered me. I don't like the idea of negotiating with terrorists and I certainly oppose rewarding them.
Still better than fighting a bunch of biotics. I hate fighting biotics. I skip those quests whenever I can. (In this case I think I would have taken the Garrus option: blow the ship up. )

Part of it is my actual law enforcement training. If I see someone pointing a gun at someone else (and I know who the good and bad guys are), I am going to shoot them. If I can safely give it, they get one warning. But most people are used to TV police where they talk for 5 minutes.
Really great screen shots. I never noticed Dr. Heart is identified as Saleon in the subtitle.
Oh, and when you get to ME2 I hope you will be publishing your vids. I would love to see them.
Thanks! Yeah, I never actually realised it either until now, but it's kind of funny
Really? I thought you found Soldier boring? Currently I'm just recording some bits here and there (because I really really love making screen shots, now that I can), but of course I can do that for ME2. I actually thought about fully recording my next playthrough, too, and then there's also still recreating my playthroughs with Hannah for ME1 and ME2. Argh. Did I mention I need more time? Haha.
So John Shepard and the Alliance fleet attacked Cerberus Headquarters to steal back the Prothean VI. John managed to blow Kai Leng's head clean off his body with the Black Widow. Kai Leng managed to grow it back in time to get stabbed by John's Omni Tool.
Skipping ahead...
The little glowing kid offered John Shepard three choices:
Electrocute himself, let the Reapers win
Jump off a bridge, let the Reapers win
Blow himself up, let the Reapers win
In an act of defiance, John took the hidden fourth option: reject all the choices, let the Reapers win.
Months later, Marauder Shepard tracked down, butchered, and ate his former boyfriend Kaiden. (Let's face it, Kaiden was never Spectre material anyway.)
