So Joker drop us on Virmire, and we have to take out some AA Guns so the Normandy can land.
Colossus, Armatures, Assault Drones, and assorted troopers, all fall to the M35 Mighty Mako.

Spoiler

Like Therum, you haven't truly played this level until you've used the Mako to toss the Colossi into the ocean.

But also brings up a holograph of Sovereign. It's not just a ship, it's a Reaper.
It declares it's superiority, claims to be the "Vanguard of our destruction", breaks some windows, then leaves.

Spoiler

And since I'm already commenting; one of the best moments in the series, right here. A sad reminder of what Reapers once were and could have been.

Today I finished Eden Prime. ( In a nightmare playthrough ) I  launched an attack on a bridge, while there were enemies just behind it. In M1...

I tried to JUMP on the side behind rocks but it didn't work, and I was like WTF. I push the button A quicker, still didn't work. I try to move in the same direction, can't even leave the bridge, even without jumping. I have totally forgotten that in M1, you actually can't jump at all.   Because of this mistake, all my mates died since we were obvious and easy target on a bridge.. Shame on me !

Things are tense, back on the Normandy.
Ashley thinks I should have left her and tried to save Kaidan. She knows why I couldn't do that and I don't want to talk about it.
Dr T'Soni thinks I may have got new information from the the beacon and wants to meld again.
I said, you were there, why didn't you just use the bloody beacon yourself.
Alright... see what you can get. After a minute to compose herself, she said Ilos, the conduit is on Ilos.
And where is this Ilos, I've never even heard of it?
She said, I don't know where it is, I only recognize some of the images.
But it is only accessible through the Mu relay, and that has been lost for 3 thousand years.
So we've got nothing.
I tell Captain Kirrahe that I'll drop him and his men off at the Citadel.
Then passing through the Kepler Verge I got a call for Admiral Hackett.
Someone was killing off Alliance scientist who had worked together on a project on Accuse. Only one member of that team remained.
I said, I have to get the Salarians to the Citadel. He said I understand Shepard, but Dr Wayne's life could be in serious danger, and your in the area.
We drop on Ontarom and head to the research facility where Dr Wayne worked. On approach we were fired upon by snipers.
Inside half a dozen mercs shoot at us. Then in a back room we come across Dr Wayne and Corporal Toombs and my world comes crashing down.
Spoiler

Up until now I thought I was a big War Hero, single handedly held off Batarian slavers on Elysium.
But it turns out I'm just some plebe who survived a thresher mau attack on Accuse, and not even the sole survivor, as Toomb's also survived.
Oh my god, how will I be able to face Ashley. I'll have to give my Star of Terra medal back.
My service records say I'm a hero, but my mother could have used her contacts to have them changed.
Maybe I should just shoot Toombs & the doctor and continue living the lie.
But then I'd have to kill Wrex and Tali, because they heard Toombs call me Shepard, They know that he knows me.
I wonder if Admiral Hackett knows... I bet that is why he insisted I come. No this is crazy, Toombs is crazy.
Yes that's it, he just saw a vid of me becoming a Spectre or something, and in his mau acid induced state he thinks I'm one of his old squad mates.
I've never even been to Accuse. This poor guy needs help. I convince him to put his gun down, and get the Alliance to arrest Dr Wayne.
I have to get the Salarians back to the Citadel and I need a couple of days off.
All this reaper stuff is getting me down. Maybe I'm indoctrinated, how would I know.

(Does Toombs always recognise Shepard and say, "you got away with a few scratches and a scary reputation"?
It sounds like it should be only for Sole Survivors)

Bruno Shepard took to the stars... then quickly got bored so he went to go find Dr. Garneau. He found Garneau's whereabouts at a mining facility on an asteroid. The workers on the asteroid did not seem to care that Reapers were attacking. They were a bit... strange. Plus they appeared to be studying all sorts of topics nowhere near related to mining. No actual mining seemed to be going on.

He finally found Garneau, but whose mind was soon taken over by Leviathan, like Dr. Bryson's assistant had been. Shepard chased Garneau outside the facility, but Garneau had been too quick and locked himself inside a room and then shut off the power. Shepard activated a repair drone. He held off Reaper forces until the repair drone restored the power. Bruno raced to the room, but Garneau somehow managed to get a hold of a bomb and used it to destroy himself along with one of those strange artifacts. Then it turned out that it had not actually been Garneau; Garneau had been dead for at least a week. Also, the staff facility had now returned to normal; turns out the staff had been mind-controlled for about 10 years and had no recollection of what had happened other than feeling sensations of cold and darkness.

Back on the Citadel at Bryson's lab, Bruno Shepard retrieved a message from Dr. Bryson's daughter Ann. Ann was working at a dig site and had found another artifact. Reapers were also attacking. Both tidbits sounded bad. They located the dig site right away and head off to pick her up.

The dig site was surrounded by a lot of Harvesters. They had to land well back of Ann and make their way to her. The Harvesters kept dropping in troops, but they were not much trouble. They reached Ann, who went to show them the artifact. They saw the Reaper forces using it, then Ann was suddenly mind-controlled and tried to stop it. Shepard destroyed the artifact then killed the remaining Reaper troops before flying out with Ann.

Back at Bryson's office, Ann had the idea to use the artifact to track down Leviathan by letting it control her. They got a partial lock -- enough to start finding Leviathan -- then stopped the trace. Bruno did not want to put her in any more jeopardy.

They found Leviathan's location, but the shuttle was shot down by a strange pulse. A Reaper then showed up and started dropping in troops in an attempt to kill Shepard. Steve Cortez noticed a diving mech Shepard could use to go under water and find Leviathan. Cortez wished Shepard good luck. Shepard went underwater and found Leviathan.... several Leviathans in fact. Apparently the Leviathans had created an Artificial Intelligence with the sole purpose of finding out a way to stop synthetics from destroying organics (because organics had the nasty habit of creating synthetics that soon tried to kill organics). Only it backfired because of course it did and the A.I. nearly wiped out the Leviathans and created the first Reaper. Then it created more Reapers and the mass relays and the Citadel and established the reaping cycles.

Shepard managed to convince the Leviathans to join the war, then he went back to the surface. With the pulse disabled, Shepard and company flew out. Cortez told Shepard to never do that again. Bruno was touched that his boyfriend cared for him, but they both knew that Shepard would more than likely do something like that again because that is what Shepard does best (besides running, shooting and killing, pressing buttons, and getting Asari to hit in him).

Tired and not wanting to meet with the Bucketheads just yet, Shepard took up Hackett's orders for some shore leave. He visited Anderson's apartment, only for Anderson to call and gift him the apartment. It looked like a great place to settle down, assuming he did not retire to his other home on Intai'sei, assuming it was still around... or not sold off after his death (he should really look into that).

Joker invited him to lunch, only to have an Alliance Officer named Brooks interrupt to tell him that someone was trying to steal his identity. And then mercenaries attacked. After falling through a fish tank, Shepard made his way to a sky car lot, killing a bunch of mercs on the way. Liara met him, as did more mercs in a C-Sec shuttle. But then Wrex showed up and kicked some butt, and then they all took turns killing mercs before another shuttle arrived to take them back to the apartment.

Steve Cortez chastised Bruno, saying that is what happens when you sneak out with another man to lunch. Touche, Steve.

I thought it was a nice touch that someone will comment if you blast the pyjaks on one planet in ME1.

A rule in any game I play is that if you give me a vehicle, I want to crush enemies with it. Sort of like how much fun I had in Shadows of Mordor the other day, beating a timed challenge by riding around on a Graug, which is basically a Rancor from Star Wars, and biting Captains' heads off.

We say farewell to Captain Kirrahe and Commander Rentola, and I stay on the Citadel for a bit to clear my head.
I take some of the gear we "acquired" down to the financial district to trade with the Hanar, She sometimes gets some good items in.
Coming out from the emporium a well dressed elderly women calls me over by saying, Commander Shepard, I have a proposition for you.
I figure she's just some rich old dike on the prowl, but I stop to see what she wants.
Her name is Helena Blake, and she openly admits to being a member of some criminal cartel.
She wants me to dispose of her business partners because they deal in slavery and red sand, and she approves of neither practice.
I said she has a funny idea of how Spectre's operate, and she is very close to being arrested herself.
She said, think about it Commander, I'll make it worth your while. We just keep on walking.
Spoiler

We run into Lieutenant Zabaleta again and he hits me up for more whiskey money. I tell him my mother thinks the VAO will help him.
He said she always done the right thing by him, and he'll go talk with them if she thinks it will do any good.
I call in to see Captain Anderson, to see if he could find out anything on the Mu relay.
Ambassador Udina was there. He said the Council thought I was crazy. I laughed and said, well they might be right, what do you think?
To which he replied, you're getting the job done Shepard, that's all I care about.
Spoiler

Captain Anderson said he'd never heard of the Mu Relay, but would see what he could find out.
I said while I'm here, what do you know about an Alliance doctor, Armistan Banes? He said, where did you hear that name? Banes is dead.
I told him I have reason to believe he is very much alive. He said, I assure you Banes is dead. If you want to learn more, speak with Admiral Kahoku.
I said Kahoku is dead. He said but I only spoke with him last week here on the Presidium. I said, I assure you Kahoku is dead.
It appears the Captain is kept out of the loop. And he may be getting Alzheimer's, He wants to keep repeating conversations we have already had.
Spoiler

We run into Emily Wong, seems she got useful information from the bug I planted, and is off saving the world again.
Then I met a man whose brother was missing, he feared he might have fallen victim to pirates. I said give me the coordinates, If I get time, I'll look into it.
In the markets we run into Conrad, he cracked me up. He wants to become a Spectre. I told him to go home to his wife, and if we need him, I'll call him.
Spoiler

I wanted to spend some alone time with Ashley, she still feels responsible for Kaidans' death.
But events just keep sweeping us along.

Spoiler

(I wish Ash wouldn't stand like that, in front of the Krogan)
We leave the Citadel and look into anything Geth related, hoping to get back on Saren's trail.
My only consolation is that if with the resources of the Alliance and the Council, we don't know how to find the Mu Relay,
then Saren probably can't find it either.
Before we even leave Widow, Admiral Hackett has an assignment for us. Some biotic extremists have taken Chairman Burns hostage.
We go to the Hades Gamma cluster and board the MSV Ontario.
We have to take out quite a few Human biotics before we get to where the Chairman was being held.
The Biotics were L2's, angry that Burns had voted against reparations for all L2's.
Burns said he had no idea their situation was that desperate and assured them if they surrendered to the Alliance, he would reopen their case.
Spoiler

I wanted to look into those suspicious shipments I read about on the Exo-Geni console, so I had Joker take us to Agebinium in the Amazon system.
As we entered the Voyager cluster, Admiral Hackett told us of a nuclear warhead left over from the First Contact Wars.
I informed him of Lieutenant Alenko's death and that we had no replacement for him yet.
He said normally he'd have called the bomb squad, but this could have political ramifications, the Normandy is the only ship that could get in undetected.
Well there is very little out in this part of space, and I don't like coincidence, so this may be related to why I'm here. I tell the Admiral, I'll do my best.
The nuke was in a mine shaft, someone must have moved it here, they may not have known what it is.
The mine shaft is deserted until we got down to the nuke. Then a detonator triggered and we were confronted with a holograph of one Elanos Haliat.
He claimed he, was responsible for the assault on Elysium, and because I was the one who thwarted his plans, he had laid this trap for me.
First job was the nuke. I was going to suggest rock paper scissors with Tali, to see who disabled it.
But then it struck me, that one's probably not big on the flotilla, and set about it myself.
Spoiler

With the nuke disarmed, we found a way out of the mine, to a plateau high above the camp of Haliat and his little band of cutthroats.

Ran through Illium today. Apparently that is quite a busy world. Logan reunited with his girlfriend, Dr. T'Soni, but chasing the Shadow Broker would have to wait. There was an assassin and a justicar to recruit, after all, and apparently Miranda has a crazy father (no surprise really) that wants to kidnap her twin sister. Shep is beginning to wonder if anyone on the Normandy doesn't have a bunch of personal drama going on in their lives. Is anyone normal? No? Okay then.

First up was the assassin. You can never go wrong with hiring an assassin, right?

Spoiler

Next up on Shepard's to-do list for the day was taking care of some business for Miranda.

Spoiler

It was at this point that I realized I have a super group in sentinel Shepard, Miranda, and Thane. What they lack in pure firepower, they make up for in serious displays of powers. Breezed through Eclipse mercs like they were nothing by warping and overloading the **** out of everything.  :D

Spoiler

New favorite team.  ;)

@olnorton, if you do not want any Citadel DLC spoilers, then do not read this post.

Back at the apartment, Liara managed to trace the weapon Bruno Shepard grabbed to an arms dealer named Elijah Khan. Khan was also a casino owner and was hosting a fundraiser that night, so Shepard decided to pay him a visit.

With Brooks's help, Shepard managed to sneak into Khan's private room in the back, only to find Khan dead. Shepard thought about spouting a "Well this turned out to be a dead end" one-liner, but thought better of it because he hates bad puns. Then someone called Khan on the vidscreen; turned out it was the person who had bought the guns and hired the mercs to kill Shepard. The screen was all static and the person was using a voice disguiser so they could not tell who the person was.

Then it was back to the apartment where they were soon notified that someone was using Shepard's ID to access the Citadel archives. So everyone decided to pack up and go to the archives...

... where they were immediately ambushed by the mercs. After a brief fight, the mastermind showed himself to the group: he was a clone of Shepard. On a weirdness scale of 1-10, that ranked an 8, because by this point, can anything top 'ancient race of sentient machines hiding out in dark space eliminate almost all organic life in the galaxy every 50,000 years'? (Which is probably a 15 on that weirdness scale)

While clone Shepard ran away deeper into the archives, Shepard fought off more mercs then chased after him. He nearly caught up with him, but the clone had led him into a trap, sealing him inside one of the vaults. Brooks then revealed she had betrayed Shepard and was actually working with the clone (although in actuality she is the mastermind and the clone is working for her). The clone managed to replace Shepard's fingerprint data in the database with his own fingerprints, and then they left Shepard to die. Except Shepard escaped pretty quickly thanks to Glyph.

The clone was preparing to take off in the Normandy when Shepard showed up to sneak on board. Some more mercs dropped in to try to stop Shepard; Bruno Shepard suspects that was more Brooks's idea than the clones. With the help of Traynor -- who had just been kicked off the ship by the clone -- Shepard managed to sneak on board, kill some mercs in the CIC, then took the elevator down to the cargo bay.

After a brutal battle versus the clone, Brooks, and his minions, Shepard finally managed to corner the clone all alone. Bruno gave the clone a chance to live, but the clone refused and committed suicide by dropping himself off the Normandy and into the side of building.

Joker suggested they throw a party and Bruno agreed it was a good idea.

* * *

I got my butt kicked in the Dry Dock, CIC, and clone fight. Stasis, Cryo Blast, and Combat Drone is not a good combination for those fights,. For the clone, I ended up mostly hiding out in a corner and then barely surviving when he bumrushed me.

As much as I love the Claymore, I have never done that good with it against the clone unless I am a Vanguard or Infiltrator. (Although I have not tried using it as a Soldier yet. Perhaps someday.)

I am probably going to spend the rest of the night doing the Armax Arena missions. I do not plan to write anything about that.

I was concerned about what these samples might be, that where sent to the research facility on Nodacrux.
In case they were related to the Thorian. The message on the Exo-Geni console was unclear.
On entering the Maroon Sea cluster, Joker picked up a distress signal on Nodacrux.
Outside the facility we were attacked by a small number of thorian creepers.
Spoiler

Disturbing, it looks like the thorian pod that Shiala emerged from.
Spoiler

Inside there were more creepers, they had killed the Exo_Geni researchers.
Hold up in the back were the few remaining researchers and a couple of security personal.
Relieved at first to see us, Dr Ross became a little on edge once she realized we knew what the thorian creepers were.
She tried to buy us off, and when I refused, she chose death over imprisonment. It was a very brief fight.
Spoiler

Admiral Hackett said we have a situation, biotic fanatics have taken over a medical station and drugged the scientists.
Joker dropped us on Chohe. We picked up an anomalous signal north east of the drop zone, and went to investigate.
Turned out to be a transmitter from a deserted camp, we found some of the Matriarchs writings, and something that may have at one time, been food.
We shut down the transmitter, and headed south to the medical facility.
Once inside, I told Liara and Ashley to hold tight, and I infiltrated the biotics on my own, with precision strikes to minimize collateral damage.
I was able to neutralize the biotics without hitting any of the facility's staff.
Spoiler

We headed for Chasca in the Mantano system to investigate the samples sent to Cerberus from Exo-Geni.
The civilian structure looked deserted, and Ashley said she had a bad feeling about this place.
I tickled her waist and she said, not funny skipper, but then smiled. Inside we were set upon by husks.
There were no bodies of the buildings former inhabitants, so I can only assume they were the husks.
Spoiler

There were more husks both outside and inside the next structure, and dragons teeth. It appears the whole colony has been turned into husks.
At a science facility on the top of a hill were more husks and many more dragons teeth.
Spoiler

We downloaded some encrypted Cerberus files. I wonder what the Alliance Cryptanalysis team can learn from them.
Those bastards have got a lot to answer for.

Joker dropped us on Klensal, so we could pay a visit to one of Helena Blake's business partners.
The only thing I hate more than red sand dealers, is slavers, and this bloke was both. I say was, because he is no more.
Spoiler

On to Mavigon. This second dude had heavy turrets protecting his ill gotten gains.
With the death of the second crime lord, I think it's time we pay Helena a visit.
Spoiler

We head for Amaranthine in the Horse Head Nebula.
We were prepared for anything as we approached Helena Blake's hideout. I fully expected her to attack, now I was of no use to her.
But she met us as we entered and was warm and quite charming. That is until I told her I couldn't let her continue.
Spoiler

She pointed out that her group was well armed and would not go without a fight.
I said I'd hate to have to shoot such a pretty face, and her mood changed, she smiled and stood in a seductive pose.
Probably confirming my initial impression of her. At which time Gunnery Chief Williams made an uncharacteristically clumsy move and stood on my toe.
I said, your an attractive and wealthy women, you don't need this life. Take what you have and call it quits, and you'll live to walk away.
Spoiler

She considered what I had said, and agreed to disband her group.
Then she thanked me and stroked the back of my hand, earning me an elbow in the side.
I said, I should go.

While we were in the Horse Head Nebula anyway, I told Joker to do a fly by of the Strenuus system to keep the scanners open for the MSV Majesty.
We have little trouble locating the MSV Majesty, but things don't look good for Captain Willem, the ship shows all the signs of a ship-mounted mass accelerator fire.
There's a faint trail of radioactive particles heading to nearby Xawin.
Xawin is cold and unwelcoming, we detect an anomaly to the north, so maybe Captain Willem escaped the ship.
The signal was a trap, we were surrounded by four Geth Armatures, and barely got out of it.
Spoiler

But if the Geth are here, maybe Saren is not too far away, or a least there is something here he wants.
Garoth may have done us a favor. There is something to the east. We proceed more carefully now, but with new interest.
An outpost, fortified with heavy turrets, but they are not Geth.
Inside was like a hornets nest.
Spoiler

After quite a battle on the ground floor, we make our way upstairs. Only to find Captain Willem's lifeless body.
Ashley bows her head and makes a sign of a cross. I pry a small data drive from his stiff fingers.
I will return this to Garoth on the Citadel and give him the sad news.
It's strange that you can witness so much death, and then be effected by the death of one stranger.
I hug Ashley and turn her away from the body.
Spoiler

Being we were so close, I decided to see if we could substantiate the Geth sightings on Noveria.
Spoiler

On approach, our welcome was as cold as the planet, and it went downhill from there.
Spoiler

An unarmed Security Chief bet her life that her two guards could take the three of us.
Spoiler

It wasn't a bet she would win, and fortunately for her, her superior stepped in and ordered her to stand down.
Spoiler

Captain Matsuo's savior was quite the looker, and if I didn't know Ash only went for ranga's, I'd be a little worried about the looks they exchanged.
Spoiler

She is the Administrator's assistant, and she told us Matriarch Benezia had passed through.
But that we would need the Administrator's permission to go after her.

Shepard thought about spouting a "Well this turned out to be a dead end" one-liner, but thought better of it because he hates bad puns.

I love bad puns, nice one

After Jack's and Miranda's fight I talked a bit with Miranda. I told her it's nice that behind her cold facade there's a person in there, and she smiled even more. She looked gorgeous. She touched me. I'm thinking she likes what I just said to her. I smiled back before I broke out of this moment.

Samara revealed the target she had been chasing was her own daughter. A so called Ardat-Yakshi, a very dangerous asari, who kills by mating. Doesn't sound good.

Apparently she's on Omega currently, so we headed there right away.

When we arrived, we talked to a salarian called Ish who had recognized Miranda. He's in the information business.

I agreed to retreive a package for him, but once we had done so I couldn't help but tell Anto, who had been revealed to do outside work, which Aria didn't know about. My ties to Aria are important and I smelled some hush-money. Anto paid up. Think I'm now responsible for Ish's death though. Sh*t, I didn't want it to go that far. I guess I should've known better.

Since I was already here I talked to Aria, trying to find out more about her past. She was reluctant, but we talked a bit nevertheless, also about Samara's daughter Morinth, and then she also said while I'm here I should go look for a girl, that I look like I needed to loosen up a little. Uh... what? Surely it's been a while, but... am I really looking that way? It's true, Jack had been showing me a cold shoulder for some time now and I'm not sure what to make of it, but I had no problem with waiting so far. That Aria... interesting woman.

Irritated I picked up Samara from the Normandy and pieced together the clues that Morinth's last victim had left. Our plan was a go. In the VIP section of the Afterlife I made my move, trying to impress Morinth so she would be attracted to me. It didn't take long and she came out, and I sweet-talked her some more. She invited me to her apartment soon enough and I checked out her stuff a bit. She had some Hallex, said I could have one if I wanted. I picked up the bottle and was tempted for a moment, but no, I don't need that sh*t anymore. I sat down next to Morinth. She was attractive, and when she came closer I felt how I longed for more, a lot more. A touch, a kiss, sex. She had me under her spell. I couldn't do anything, I just succumbed to her.

And then it was gone and I snapped out of it. Samara had arrived and was going for her daughter, and I helped her kill Morinth. Now that it was done I felt sad for Samara. I asked her how she is, but she didn't want to talk about it. Fair enough. We returned to the Normandy and I got some sleep.

A few pics:

Spoiler

I've never finished Ish's quest that way, so it was nice to try it out :)

I noticed I also have grown really fond of Samara. I usually don't like such code stuff, but I don't know, somehow I really like how she is. With her calm tone and the way she says things, I always like listening to her.

I also feel I want to pick Morinth at some point, but it's hard to come up with something reasonable to do so, haha. Maybe with the b*tch Shepard, getting high on the feeling of wanting to control a wild one like her.

Anyway, next up is Garrus's, Thane's and Jacob's Loyalty mission, and maybe I start with Tali's trial. Let's see if I can actually get this far though, I also want to do a bit of Vega dialogue hunt... ^_^

I've also been thinking about Overlord a lot lately, and I guess I'll skip it this time. I've never seen Grissom without David myself (only on YT). And handing him over to Cerberus is not an option with this Shepard.

I picked up some new armour from a Hanar in the lobby, and went to see Anoleis for a pass.
This Administrator Anoleis is a real piece of work.
Spoiler

But it gets worse, his assistant tells me, my only option is to enlist the aid of a Turian.
I'm wondering how much of a diplomatic incident it would cause if we just kidnap the door guard and do a runner.
I keep that as plan B for now, and go and see what this Qui'in wants for his garage pass.
Turns out this Lorik Qui'in is not unreasonable for a Turian. He has some dirt on Anoleis, but his office is in lock-down.
We just have to go in and download the files to his OSD, in return for his garage pass.
He also told us Matriarch Benezia is dressed to thrill, and turned quite a few heads on her way through.
Ash blames the extranet for mens ideas of the Asari.
Spoiler

As we entered Qui'ins' office we were met by some of Captain Matsuo's guards. They thought Anoleis wasn't worth dying for and left.
A few others chose to fight, and paid the price.
Leaving with the data, we ran into Kaira Stirling, the blond with the bad breath, from the front gate.
Neither her breath nor her attitude had improved. She wouldn't walk out, without a fight, and now she'll never walk out.
Spoiler

Coming out of the elevator we were met by Ashley's "friend". She wanted us to meet her in the bar, before we talked with Lorik Qui'in.
I was intrigued, so we went to hear her out. Turns out she is internal affairs working undercover, and needs Qui'ins' testimony to take down Anoleis.
Ashley thought we should help the pretty brunette. (of course she did) Anyway we convinced the Turian to testify, and Parasini took Anoleis in.
Spoiler

Pass card in hand, We head for the garage.

Ashley thought we should take Liara T'Soni with us. Either to talk with her mother, or at least make her hesitate.
Wrex had been moaning about the cold, and the people here, and that my sniper rifle was too big, and that he hoped it had an off switch.
It was a relief to leave him on the Normandy and take Liara.
Geth jumped us when we entered the garage. Explosive canisters made for an exciting battle.
Captain Matsuo didn't want to believe it, and worried about an investor panic.
The road to the Peak 15 facility was thick with Geth of every shape and size.
Matriarch Benezia clearly knew we would come for her, and yet something at that factory was important enough for her to be there.
Entering Peak 15, we were met by Geth and Krogan, and then, a few of those aliens that we had seen in with Admiral Kahoku at the Cerberus facility.
Spoiler

We got some help from Mira, the company VI. It told us we would have to do a couple of manual repairs to get the place back online after an emergency shutdown.
Almost certainly caused by the aliens we had seen.
Spoiler

With the repairs done and some more alien creatures taken care of, we were able to take the tram to Rift Station.
Han Olar told us the aliens were Rachni. He was suffering from guilt. He had shut a door to save himself from the Rachni, leaving his associate to die.
Dr Cohen told us they were working on a bioweapon, and when Mira went down their own scientists got infected.
Spoiler

I entered the quarantine area and mixed the cure from their notes, but was then attacked by one of Benezia's Asari, and a few Geth.
In appreciation for the antidote, Dr Cohen gave us access to the maintenance area.
It was by going though there, that we came face to face with the Matriarch.
Spoiler

She wasn't swayed by her daughters presence, and Asari Commandos and Geth, were the order of the day.
Spoiler

Without her entourage, and her power depleted, she suddenly claimed to have control of her own mind again.
She explained it would be temporary, and gave us the co-ordinance for Ilos and the Mu Relay, before once again attacking.
Telling Liara she had always made her proud, as her life ebbed away.
Spoiler

With Benezia's death, the Rachni Queen animated the corpse of an Asari Commando, through which she could communicate.
I listened to her story, and although it earned me no brownie points with Ashley, I couldn't condemn a species to extinction base on what they might do.
Spoiler

We cleared the remaining dysfunctional rachni with a Neutron Purge.
Spoiler

Back on the Normandy, with a clear destination, the race is on. Liara thinks we need to call in Council help to go after Saren.
Spoiler

Edit: (I've never taken Wrex through Peak 15, does he recognise they are Rachni straight away?)

Not a very active day for Logan Shepard. He made the rounds and listened to everyone talk. He was particularly intrigued by Thane and the newest recruit to the team, Samara. They are both so calm and so spiritual, yet they are both also cold-blooded killers. Shep's never met anyone quite like them before. And of course, he had to stop by and pay a visit to Miranda, who was ever so grateful that we managed to save her sister, so grateful that she decided to run a hand seductively up the Commander's chest.

Spoiler

After everyone was all talked out, Shepard decided it was time to help Jack and Jacob with their problems. First up was a visit to a disturbing Cerberus facility on Pragia. Shep was disgusted by what he saw there, but he wasn't surprised. He's a survivor of Akuze, after all, and he knows just what Cerberus is capable of. He persuaded Jack not to let her past consume her and spare Aresh. Then it was time to blow Teltin sky high.

Spoiler

Back on the ship, Miranda and Jack had finally decided to have it out. The Commander couldn't let two of his best warriors smear each other all over the bulkheads, so he decided to step in and tell the both of them to knock it off and save it for after the Collectors were dealt with.

Spoiler

And then it was time to figure out why the Hugo Gernsback had sent a distress signal almost 10 years after it had disappeared. Turns out Jacob's father went mad with power and set himself up a nice little dictatorship, complete with several disturbing perks. Shep's a big fan of poetic justice so he left Ronald Taylor in the mess that he had made...

I have just finished ME3 with my NG+ Vanguard-Insanity of course. I chose Control; with a 80% Galactic Readiness and about 6000 EMS. The London part was a little bit more challenging this time; I think because of the long break I had to take just before the final assault on Earth. Still I have managed it by dying only three times (all sync killed by Banshees) :)
I actually feel sorry for the IM. His methods weren't ideal but I believe he really wanted to protect humanity so badly.

Hell of a ride this weekend for my Shepard: First my crew and I discovered a Geth helping us on a derelict Reaper.

7385zwbx.jpg

Activated the Geth and named him Legion after he told me that not all Geth worked with the Reapers he called Old Machines and he wanted to join my crew fighting the Collectors because we both oppose the same enemy. After that talk on board of the Normandy we went to Haestrom to tell Tali about those sensational news, because she once told me that she would want to learn more about how the Geth developed.

Legion then told me that he knew of a way to get rid of the Heretics, so we flew to the Heretic Station and Legion, Tali and I went through it in one skilled operation. Thought about rewriting the Heretics, but wasn't sure that the Reapers wouldn't be able to use them again, so decided for the safer choice and blew the Heretics station up. Some picture taken during the mission:

After getting to the ship Tali told me, that the Admirality Board would charge her with treason, so we wanted to go to the Migrant Fleet to clear her name in her absurd trial, but couldn't go there because the Collectors abducted our crew, so we had to call that plan off and go through the Omega 4 relay immediately.

The mission went well with Legion going through the vents, first Garrus leading the first strike team and then Miranda the second, but Garrus was right when he told me some weeks earlier that we wouldn't get through it without casualties. Jacob died a hero while getting the saved crew back to the Normandy, Thane was killed by a Seeker Swarm though Jack - who I had worried about not being focused enough after having to back up Miranda as my second-in-command earlier - did her best to get us through those swarms and finally Tali got killed holding the door when I went off to the control station to finish the job with Garrus and Miranda. Glad that Miranda backed my decision to destroy the base and didn't give in to her former bosses request to take over control.

Back on the ship I wondered what would lie ahead of us and mourned the dead:

2erg2wmm.jpgHackett told me earlier that after finishing the Collector Mission, I would have "to face the music on earth" for blowing up the Alpha Relay, but I'm feeling played here by the Alliance brass. Looks for me like they want to blame a secret alliance mission on me so the Batarians won't wage war against humanity, though I think it was their decision together with Kenson that destroying the relay had to be done to buy us time to prepare for the Arrival of the Reapers. Not sure what will happen to me once I go there.

But first I think I might check out what Cerberus is up to with Project Overlord, finally help Kasumi because she held up her end of the bargain and then I think I should help Liara in her quest to go after the Shadow Broker...

After a refreshing night of sleep I spoke to Samara to check in on her and talked to Miranda too. Miranda was quite upset about the fact that despite her being designed to be perfect, I am outdoing her, I accomplish things due to skill. Is she... jealous? There's no need. I complimented her, but she seemed to have taken that as an incentive to flirt with me. Uh, sorry, Miranda, I didn't mean it this way... just wanted to cheer you up a bit.

Together with Jack and Garrus I headed to the Citadel to look for Sidonis. We had to look for someone called Fade, and EDI gave us an idea where to look for him.

The volus we asked in the warehouse directed us to the factory district. It turned out that Fade dude is actually Harkin. Yeah, I remember him.

We arrived at the district and met Harkin, but he ran. We chased him through the storage warehouses, fighting mechs and Blue Suns. When we caught up, we pressured Harkin a bit to give up Sidonis and he eventually made the call to set up a meeting.

I'm a bit worried about Garrus, this whole thing seems to eat him up. I can understand it though, wanting revenge and all that. The betrayal was harsh.

Garrus took position with his Sniper Rifle and I approached Sidonis. I wanted to warn him. I don't know why. Maybe for Garrus's sake. Maybe to show mercy, to hear Sidonis out. To make Garrus not kill the guy, even though he deserves it. But Sidonis wouldn't listen to my warning anyway. He ran away before I could do something and Garrus took the shot.

Well... it was done.

Garrus returned to the Normandy and Thane joined us so we could look for his son Kolyat. C-Sec Captain Bailey advised us to talk to a guy called Mouse. Turned out Mouse and Thane knew each other. But Mouse was scared and wouldn't give us any information about who hired Kolyat. I offered to pay him so he can get off the Citadel and look for a safe place. He accepted and dropped the name Elias Kelham, who was then brought in by Bailey so we could question him. After my special interrogation Kelham confessed he ordered the assassination of a turian politician, Joram Talid.

Thane stayed hidden while I followed Talid from the maintenance catwalks above and updated Thane every few minutes. Kolyat showed himself soon enough, weapon ready. I yelled at him and he ran, chasing after Talid. He was able to take Talid hostage, but we could resolve this whole thing without a casualty. Bailey was nice enough to give Thane and his son some time to talk, and then we returned to the Normandy.

We set course to Aeia to look for Jacob's father. I'm curious as to what we'll find.

Some strange things were going on. Jacob's father had taken command of the stranded ship's crew. While the beacon was being repaired, he apparently took the ship food for himself and other officers, the rest had to eat toxic food... losing their minds. Men and women separated, men exiled. Women assigned to officers... what the hell. Then as soon as the beacon was fixed, the officers disappeared, and Jacob's father just continued with this sh*t.

We tracked Ronald Taylor down and confronted him. What a pr*ck. Now all he cares about is being rescued because the other survivors lost their minds and try to hunt him down. We just left him to his fate, let the exiled men take care of him for us. We're getting out of here. I radioed Joker to see if we can pick up the poor people here and bring them back home.

Bruno Shepard finished up the Armax Arena missions. I was sucking and ended up cheesing it with the Venom. Then I met up with a lot of people on the Silversun Strip.

And then it was to go help Aria take back Omega from the occupying Cerberus forces. The invasion started out well enough, but then the whole plan fell apart when it was discovered that General Petrovsky upgraded Omega's defenses and his new cannons started decimating Aria's fleet. She issued the evacuation order and they ejected out in escape pods and crashed into Omega instead.

Once out of the pod, Aria and Shepard worked their way through Cerberus forces to get to the command center and shut down the automated defenses so Aria's fleet could land. Then they headed off to another location on the station to meet with Aria's main force in her command bunker. Along the way, they met a Turian named Nyreen. Aria and Nyreen apparently knew each other quite well although their reunion was not quite friendly. Regardless, they made it to Aria's command bunker.

At the bunker, Aria formulated a new plan: they would recruit The Talons, the last remaining active gang on Omega. But first they had to find their leader and convince him to join their cause. Nyreen disappeared before they left, so she would not be joining them.

As they started their journey to find the Talon leader, Cerberus launched an attack on the Talons. Apparently their leader was close by. Shepard and Aria picked up the pace and followed the trail of Cerberus goons before making it to a Talon outpost, where they met the Talon leader: Nyreen. They convinced Nyreen to join them and they made their way to the Talon base.

Once at the Talon base, Aria used their broadcasting equipment to spread a message to the citizens of Omega to get ready for a fight. General Petrovsky did not take too kindly to that broadcast, so he sent some men their way. Shepard, Aria, and Nyreen made sure to kill them all, then headed back to Aria's bunker.

The next phase of Aria's plan was to take down all the force fields that were powered up all over Omega. The force fields were holding the citizens back from fighting Cerberus. The only way to take down the force fields was by shutting down a reactor in the mines of Omega. So Aria, Nyreen, and Shepard headed to the mines to go shut down the reactor. Along the way they encountered Adjutants: monstrosities from beyond the Omega-4 relay that Cerberus had somehow brought back to Omega. They took down the adjutants then continued to make their way to the reactor. More Cerberus forces tried to stop them, but they were only a mild inconvenience.

And just before they got to the reactor, Petrovsky sealed them inside a force field ring. He had lured them into a trap. Aria was not about to surrender, so she went to work on trying create hole in the force field with her biotics. Petrovsky sent in Rampart mechs to kill them, but Shepard and Nyreen held them off until she created a big enough hole for Shepard to go through. Once through, Shepard ran for the reactor. At the reactor, Petrovsky tried to tell him he could not shut down the reactor in time, but Bruno Shepard is an Engineer and he quickly rerouted the power away from the force fields. The citizens of Omega began to attack Cerberus.

Then Aria and Shepard headed to Afterlife to confront Petrovsky and crush the Cerberus occupation. Nyreen spilt off to go a different route with her men and would meet them at Afterlife. After a circuitous route that included disabling some bombs, Bruno Shepard and Aria finally made it to Afterlife,.. where Aria was promptly captured because she was too blinded by hate to see an obvious trap. But Shepard quickly freed her and together they eliminated the rest of the Adjutants and Cerberus forces in the area. Petrovsky surrendered and Shepard made sure he was taken into Alliance custody.

Well it is about time Shepard went to go meet with the Quarians.
