Just a suggestion about replaying DAI. Try doing as little as possible to complete the game. That's what I did for playthrough. It took me about 10 hours 26 minutes on the ps3. I enjoyed the playthrough.  I didn't waste time talking to anyone, crafting new weapons and armor. I just rushed through the game. I haven't played the game since October. I will when I get a ps4 and the game of the year edition.

Yes ME has a lot of ways to do a playthrough. Lots of fun. At the moment, I'm thinking of starting another playthrough. I've gone about 3 months since playing any ME.

Wow, really? Wasn´t my impression that your last play posts here were so long ago.

Well once I start an ME playthrough, I will post a lot since I most likely will do a few playthroughs in a very short time.

As I said, I'm likely to start playing ME. Might happen tomorrow. Just need to finish my DA2 playthrough.

What's your favoured weapons for the Praetorians, Thresher Maw on Tuchanka and the baby human reaper. I don't always have my Cain fully ammo'ed up. B) :)

For the Praetorian on Horizon, I used the Mattock. For the one in the Collector Ship, I used the Revenant, and also for the Tresher Maw. (I'll probably use the Revenant against the Baby Reaper)

See, the Mattock is good, but it doesn't compensate because of its Low Ammo Capacity... So, I go with the Revenant and when things are tough, I do some use of the Adrenaline Rush.

Uh... The Mattock under Adrenaline Rush is an unholy terror.

Sinosleep once uploaded a video showing that ammo with the Mattock is not that big of a deal on the soldier.

On Horizon I use the Collector Particle Beam or if I'm an adept, I use warp after lowering its barrier. I use the cain on the 2nd one seen on the collector ship

I use the Collector Particle beam against the Maw

I use the cain on the 3 eyed terminator and finish it off with the collector assault rifle

Oh, yah. I didn't meant that.. It was actually the weapon of my preference :) I actually like using the Revenant(see for example, it was quite effective when I was cornered by those Husks in the Collector Ship, mainly because of its high rate of fire)

For me, at least, the Revenant is working more than the Mattock :D

From the journal of David Shepard:

This is the first entry in my new journal since the last one was lost when the Normandy was attacked by an unknown force. That was over two years ago.

Two years ago, a unknown ship attacked the Normandy. I ordered everyone to abandon the ship. Joker refused to leave, so I had to go and convince him to get to a lifepod. I manage to secure Joker inside the lifepod before an explosion knocked me away and the Normandy was destroyed. My suit was punctured in several places and I soon ran out of air and lost consciousness.

I woke up on some table somewhere to the sound of gunfire, explosions, and screaming. The place was already on fire. A woman was yelling at me over an intercom to get moving. I grabbed a pistol and some armor from a nearby locker and ran out of the room. I made way way through the facility. I watched helplessly as some big mechs killed some guys; they shouted at me too save them but I couldn't. I don't know whose Omni Tool I was using but it had a pretty cool Combat Drone program that seemed pretty effective.

I ran into a guy named Jacob. He said he was head of security at the facility. I helped him destroy some hostile mechs, before he got a call from some guy named Wilson who seemed hurt. So we took off and found Wilson who had a badly injured leg, but we fixed it with some medi-gel. Jacob then told me that they worked for Cerberus.

I remembered Cerberus from when I was hunting down Saren. A former Alliance Black Ops organization, they had been running some strange experiments on alien creatures, and were responsible for the Thresher Maw attack on Akuze where I lost my whole squad. Last I heard, they had been branded as terrorists. Not sure why they were there -- or even why I was there -- so I figured it would be better to play along and see where this goes.

We fought our way through some mechs to get to the escape shuttles, only for a woman to come out and kill Wilson. Her name was Miranda and she was the same woman who was yelling at me earlier. She said Wilson had betrayed us and was responsible for the attack on the station. I was in no position to argue (it would take days to investigate) and decided that it would be better if we left the station. Before we left, she told me the station was called Lazarus Station and that it was designed to "bring me back", whatever that meant. I'm hoping 'Lazarus' was just a convenient name and not a metaphor for actually resurrecting from the dead or something.

We took a shuttle to another station where I would talk with The Illusive Man, the Cerberus Leader. Along the way, Miranda and Jacob told me they wanted to aske me some questions since it had been two years since I was gone. Two years? I was stunned. They asked me about Akuze and Ashley, then told me that Udina was now a councilor on the Citadel. Cool.

At the station, I talked with The Illusive Man over holo. He's got freaky eyes. He said they brought me back to find out who was abducting human colonies and why. I asked him why the Alliance was not doing anything and he said they were spread too thin after the attack on the Citadel. He also said that he believed the Reapers were behind the attacks. That got my attention. He said to take a shuttle to Freedom's Progress, a small colony that just went silent.

So Miranda, Jacob, and I went to Freedom's progress. It seemed deserted until some security mechs started attacking us. And then we ran into some Quarians led by Tali! It was good to see she was still alive. She told the Geth data I gave her helped her with her pilgrimage. She was leading a team looking for another Quarian named Veetor who had been working on the colony for his pilgrimage. Apparently he had gotten scared when he had seen our shuttles and reprogrammed the mechs.

We split up to cover more ground but the Quarians -- who really hate Cerberus because of an attack some time ago -- went on ahead and ended up getting slaughtered by an YMIR mech. I used my new drone buddy to distract it while we took it down and got to Veetor. He showed us some security footage he pieced together showing an alien race called the Collectors abducting the colonists. He said they froze the colonists with swarms of insects so they could take them away on their ship. Miranda wanted to take Veetor with us to Cerberus, but Tali showed up and objected saying we could take his Omni Tool data instead. I volunteered to take the data since the Quarians would know how to treat Veetor.

Back at the station, the Illusive Man was pleased with our work, then gave me a pilot and a ship: Joker and a new Normandy! Wow! I still cannot believe it. He also gave me some dossiers for some combat specialists we would need to take the fight to the Collectors.

Anyway, this journal entry is a lot longer than I intended. Time to go talk to the new crew and then go see if I can recruit this Mordin Solus guy. Maybe I will make a stop at the Citadel first, see if I can get the Alliance or Council to help.

Shepard disconnected during the Council briefing. She was tired of Sparatus complaining about pointless ruins. Her next time around, Tevos was a bit unnerved and politely implied she hoped she would not do that again. Shepard is in no mood for any of this and once again Sparatus went off yapping about the Rachi, so bye-bye again. Joker is thoroughly amused. Tevos did come back and quietly asked for aid on Virmire, so Shepard is off to see what's up despite their last communications incident.

From the journal of David Shepard:

I went to the Citadel to ask the council for help. What a waste of time. All I got was a "It's an Alliance problem" and "Ah yes, Reapers. A race of sentient machines living in Dark Space. We have dismissed that claim.". Seems The Illusive Man was right about the Alliance and Council on this matter. At least they reinstated my Spectre status. Maybe it will come in handy. For the moment at least it means that I can dock the Normandy at the Citadel any time.

Then I went to Omega. That went slightly better. I had to find Mordin Solus. He was running a clinic... right in the middle of a quarantine zone. Seems a plague had started spreading through Omega so they shut off access to the zone. The good news was humans were not affected by the plague. The bad news was that humans were now the number one suspect and everyone was gunning for them.

More bad news: the Blue Suns mercenary gang -- a collection of turians, batarians, and humans -- had held the zone as their own for some time and were now being beat back by the plague and the Vorcha. Vorcha were also immune to the plague and were muscling in on the Blue Suns territory. We had to fight our way through the Blue Suns and Vorcha to even get to Mordin's clinic.

We found Mordin at the clinic and he was... a little odd to be sure. But he's smart and had discovered a cure for the plague, but could not leave the clinic to distribute the cure. He offered to help us in exchange for delivering the cure. When we told him about the Collectors, he said the Collectors were one of the few groups with the technology to create the plague. The plague was airborne, and so was the cure, so we had to go to the ventilation system to distribute the cure. And that's when the Vorcha cut off the power to the fans.

So we fought our way through Vorcha territory to get to the ventilation system. Once there, a Vorcha screamed at us, saying that the Collectors offered to make their race strong in exchange for spreading the plague. Since both of those were really bad ideas, and because we needed to distribute the cure to recruit Mordin, we killed all the Vorcha, turned on the fans, then distributed the cure. It will take some time for everyone to fully recover, but we did it. Mordin was grateful and came on board the Normandy. We gave him some samples and data we collected from Freedom's Progress and he began to formulate a countermeasure.

From the memoirs of a gourmet cook

Date - August 23 2201

Time - 0913

Its been almost 15 years since the reaper war ended. Earth is still doing some rebuilding, but overall most of the major cities are completely rebuilt. For me, my life is great. I have to thank Commander Shepard for that. It was her that encouraged me to fulfill my dream. I've become very wealthy from having a number of restaurants being built  around the world. I even wrote a cookbook. The Commander was even nice enough to add a recipe in the book. Since the end of the war, she comes by to see how I'm doing once a month and to have lunch. In fact she along with her.........I'll just say she will be by in a few hours. I will say she hasn't changed much. The only thing that stands out is she has longer hair than when I first met her. By now you're wondering who I am. My name is.....Rupert Gardner. This is my story of the time I served on the Normandy with Commander Shepard

I look up and see Commander Shepard. She walks in the medbay to speak with the doctor. Once done, she says hello to members sitting in the messhall. She heads my way. I tell her how proud I am to serve with Cerberus and having her lead the charge against the collectors. I tell her about the time I had a family who were killed by batarian raiders. Since that time I wanted to help. I joined Cerberus. Don't have any fighting skills, but was willing to cook and clean. Whatever it takes. She asked me to join her at one of the tables. Ok.

She told me that she woke up in a Cerberus facility where she met Jacob and Miranda. She fought some mechs. She met TIM. She went to Freedom's Progress to find clues about the missing colonists. It was there she met a former squadmate, Tali. Shepard saw footage of what appeared to look like a collector.

After talking with TIM, she finally saw the new Normandy the first time. She mentioned she had a big smile seeing it

As I sit here, I wonder why she's telling me this? It must be the fact that I'm the cook and she wants to be on my good side. Ha. She doesn't have to do that. She's already on my good side. She asks if there's anything I need. Wow. She's asking what I need? Ok. I give her a list of items I need to make some good chow.  Since she's the Commander, I had to ask her what she like to eat. She would like a nice juicy sirloin steak with a baked potato. I can do that. She just need to get all those items from the list and I can make that happen. She gets up and leaves.

I was impressed. She went out of her way to talk with me. I liked that. Looking forward to having those items brought back to me so I can get started making some good food. Back to work.

Shepard's mood seems to be getting a bit better thanks to Joker's joking. She cracked her first real smile since she started this crazy mission!

Spoiler

Now it's time to head back to the Citadel and see what's up with Anderson.

Pretty much finished the beginning of the game with Tuchanka and the Citadel coup over with. Got to see that lovely Kei Lame (Kei Wang as I call him) again to remind me how much I hate Cerberus in this game.

Anyways, getting REAL tired of fighting Cerberus now. Damn Phantoms and their hand cannons of hell and those one shotting heat-seeking frag grenades that the troopers throw isn't making this Insanity playthrough fun anymore. :/

Finally bought the Black Widow and maxed out all of my main skills, hopefully something will change now.

I love fighting the Reapers though, thankfully the Collecturds aren't in the SP of this game.

I pity the masochists who are able to play this trilogy more than once on Insanity.

Cerberus is actually my favourite enemy to fight somehow :) They flanked me so much in my first run and I hated them, but they are challenging yet fun to me now.

I remember grenades used to be my nemesis when playing ME3 on Insanity for the first time. But it gets better!

I love that function. I sorely miss a quick save in ME1 and ME2 -_-

Well, been a few days since I did anything in ME2. Stuck in the DAIverse a lot more than I planned to, and over the weekend I had to replace my hard drive on my PC, so I also had to set up my capture software again, but now I'm good to go. Probably tomorrow. Reaper IFF, oh how I do not look forward to you AT ALL!

Also... damn, it's been a full year since I completed ME3 for the first time. Time flies. Learned a lot in that year combat-wise (thanks to some of you lovely people in here), and it's still a blast to visit this thread. Keep up the good work everyone :D

Indeed it does get better! I'm FINALLY enjoying this game on Insanity as much as I did when I played ME2.

All it took was buying the Black Widow to change that.  :P

Cerberus is nothing to me now that I have a strategy for each and everyone of the enemies. But yes you're right, those grenades will never change, the only bane in the game to me right now.

Can't wait to fight some Banshees and see how I'll do, since those are my arch-nemesis of ME3.

I've finished Mass Effect 2 and got the Insanity Achievement! Yaaay!

Easy fight agains the Baby Reaper (The toughest one ever was in the Collector Ship on those platforms, but in the other missions, I didn't have any problem)

Now, for Aratoth to rescue Dr.Kenson and then do other DLCs and assignments I didn't complete yet(Like Shadow Broker Pack for the Achievement too :P)

The Commander is back. I got the ingredients I needed and already prepared a dish for her to taste. I look over to see she's having a drink with the doctor. I hope I don't get injured. I wouldn't want her to care for me since she's drinking. That could be messy.

Here she comes. I thank her for the supplies. She tries my Calamari Gumbo. She likes it. Good. We walk over to the table to talk again. She mentions that I should open my own restaurant. I'll keep that in mind.

She tell me about buying some upgrades on the Citadel that  she needed. She even recruited a thief. A thief? I'm not a combat genius or anything, but what good would a thief do against the collectors? Shepard mentioned its possible she could steal  intelligence that can help fight the collectors or find their base of operations. Ok. You're the boss Shepard.

She recruit a bounty hunter named Zaeed. She likes him.

On Omega she recruits a salarian, Dr. Mordin Solus, who can help find a way to fight the collectors. That's good. She did say he talks very fast and at times finds herself not understanding everything he says.

She recruited a turian, Garrus Vakarian, who helped her chase Saren. So that's who walked by headed to the front. I wonder how many more she will recruit to deal with the collectors.

I head back to my kitchen and get her meal. Sirloin steak and baked potato. She was thankful. I also believe that some of the crew think I'm being a brown noser. They can think whatever. I'm just making sure the boss has a full belly when going on a mission. I leave the Commander to her meal while I prepare other dishes for the crew

William Shepard, colony kid and genune soldier hero, became the 1st human SPECTRE after proving to the Council that another SPECTRE, Saren, was responsible for the attack on a human colony where he apparently allied himself with the Geth. He felt bad about kicking Capt. Anderson off the Normandy but what a sweet ride to have. And he also recruited a former C-sec officer, a Krogan mercenary and a Quarian kid - noting that some of the crew seems to have some issues with the non-humans. That got squelched fast.

His first action was to locate the daughter of an Asari matriarch who was collaborating with Saren. He was immediately captivated with her and believed pretty much every word out of her mouth. After a difficult fight with a Krogan and a bunch of Geth, he got her and, oh yeah, Kaidan and Garrus, onto the Normandy before the whole area was engulfed by a volcanic eruption.

Ran into some issues with some husks that seem to have taken over a mining facility. Will have to return and figure out how they got there in a bit. But did help out a bunch of people on the Citadel and helped both Garrus (the former C-sec officer) and Wrex (the merc) with some unfinished business. You'd think they'd let SPECTRE's take the good weapons. But no, he has to pay for them himself so he's trying to save up his earnings from all these side missions.

He still can't afford the good stuff but he decided to go see what's happening on Feros with what he had. And he found a sentient plant that is basically enslaving a bunch of colonists. (By design of the company running the colony, which did not go over well with William.). He's not sure what Saren wants with the plant but he's going to find out. And, hopefully, release those colonists from its thrall.

**Insanity was much harder than I was expecting at first. But now I'm starting to get some good armor and weapons and I should be able to afford at least one of the SPECTRE weapons after Feros. And some strategies for facing Krogan or Geth or humans. Plan to do a full insanity run but it will probably take me awhile.

Things got heated with the council again. This time Shepard and Sparatus went at it badly and Tevos had to tell them to stop. I think Shepard is ready to murder that Turian councilor. She just lost Ash and all he cares about is her current mental state even though there's nothing wrong with her. Valern seems to be calm about everything though and told Shepard if she believes the Reapers are a threat, do anything at any cost to stop them.

While the Commander is out recruiting, I will write down some recipes to try. I'm sure the crew will like what I cook. Time to clean the latrine.

She's back. I grab a cup of coffee and sit with her at the table ready to hear about her missions.

She went to a planet to recruit a Krogan. Instead, she ended up with a Krogan in a tank. She let him out. She had to convince him to join the squad. I have to find what Krogan eat. I'm sure I can find something on the extranet.

We have a powerful biotic named Jack. I saw her. As I say, I'm not a military guy, but wouldn't armor be better to wear than straps? Maybe that's a biotic thing. The Commander isn't worried. With Jack, her meals with be more for the amount of energy she uses.

Something happened on Horizon. The Commander was mad that she wasn't able to save everyone. On top of that, she saw a former squadmate, Ashley Williams. I met her once after the war ended. She seemed like a nice woman. Anyways. Shepard mentioned that she would've like to have Ashley join us to fight the collectors.

To cheer her up, I made her a nice apple pie. She liked that and said thanks. No problem. Now were headed to Illium. Something about helping MIranda. I'm sure the Commander will tell me everything later. Back to work

Answer: almost anything organic, including sentient species. Krogan are not picky.
