Big snowfall today, so I spent a good chunk of the day shoveling.

But I did just spend the time planning out David Shepard's suicide mission run. He was originally going to be a pro-biotic playthrough (only biotic users survive) but since I am going to have him romance Tali, which I have never done before, it is going to be a pro-biotic + Tali playthrough.

Spare: Jacob, Miranda, Jack, Thane, Samara, Tali
Kill: Zaeed, Kasumi, Mordin, Garrus, Grunt (leave in tank), Legion (give to Cerberus)

What I have outlined should work.

Shepard's mood seems to be getting a bit better thanks to Joker's joking. She cracked her first real smile since she started this crazy mission!

Spoiler

Now it's time to head back to the Citadel and see what's up with Anderson.

Shep's smiles are always goofy. :D

Cerberus is actually my favourite enemy to fight somehow :) They flanked me so much in my first run and I hated them, but they are challenging yet fun to me now.

I remember grenades used to be my nemesis when playing ME3 on Insanity for the first time. But it gets better!

My favourites are Eclipse - especially vanguards. As for Elnora - I let her go once and the next time I saved the game, killed her, reloaded and killed her again. Just to be sure.

She went to a planet to recruit a Krogan. Instead, she ended up with a Krogan in a tank. She let him out. She had to convince him to join the squad. I have to find what Krogan eat. I'm sure I can find something on the extranet.

Lamps?

This is going to make me sound terrible, but I am finally beginning to understand the explosion aspect of ME3. I always had a vague idea on how to work with it. I abused it a lot with adept, but I'm learning how to combine tech and biotics together for explosions too. I went back and tried my femshep Sentinel run and my broshep Vanguard and discovered some new combinations I hadn't used like incinerate then throw. Or I'll use incindieary ammo to set a target on fire and then overload them. Its made the gameplay of ME3 like 50 times more fun to me. Before I was playing it like Gears of War with mild power usage. But now this is definitely more fun and exciting than that. Its just a shame I discovered this so late.  :(

And this concept has also made me realize that Kaidan is like the secret MVP of this franchise. He was amazing in ME1, and in ME3 he's so damn useful. I've always like him, but he's shot up a lot now because of this.

Pull + pull can be nasty. Also pull + throw. And the other one I just learned overload on pyros. ;)

Yeah, I noticed this with Javik on Noveria also by accident. I had him pull something, I used throw and then I went  :o

Never thought to try pull and pull. Will give it a try next time. Thanks.

I recently got the Citadel DLC and I wanted to play it. But my current playthrough of the trilogy was grinding to a halt steadily over the course of the 3rd game. I just couldn't take it anymore so I said **** it and proceeded to 'collect' all available characters for Citadel. Did Samara's, Jacob's and Miranda's missions. In my rush to finish the 3rd game quickly I had forgotten to meet Miranda at the Normandy Docking Bay. She was loyal, I warned her about Leng, I gave her the resources, I talked down her father and she still died. She wasn't even my LI for this playthrough. I ragequit.

Loaded a prior (perfect) playthrough where Miranda was the LI. Unfortunately, I had not saved before Chronos station or after the end of the game where it puts you back in the timeline. So, I had to play through ME3's ending from "Citadel: The Return". Raged some more when I found I couldn't skip any dialogue or cutscenes. Endured through that crap on mute. Finally half an hour later (thankfully the credits can be skipped), after the game put me back before Chronos, I saved the game and proceeded to start the Citadel DLC. I hate this game.

I'm now in the middle of the DLC. So many colors, so much snark ... so much feels of what-could-have-been ...

Although I still hate that Miranda isn't available from the beginning of the DLC.

I like pull and throw - makes things kind of like clay pigeon shooting but, you know, with Cerberus and Eclipse and Blue Suns and Blood Pack and Vorcha. . .

I don't know if I introduced my Shepard, Chris, but here you go.

The Commnader told me about taking care of some issues for the squadmates. She helped MIranda, Mordin, Kasumi, Zaeed, Jack and Grunt. Were now on our way to a collector ship. Be careful Commander.

The Commander sits down looking tired. I give her a glass of water and a piece of apple pie. That seemed to brighten her mood. The collectors use to be Protheans. Wow. Don't know what to say. I learn the collector base is located in the galactic core. That can't be good. We're on our way to a derelict reaper to get an item that can get us through the Omega 4 relay. What? A reaper? You have me worried. She assures me she will be fine. I hope so. She does ask to make a dish that she would like. Mmmm. Ok. I'll pull all the stops for something you like Commander. I already have something in mind. And again. Be safe.

William managed to kill the Thorian without killing any of the colonists. The only one that died was the leader, Fai Dan, and he killed himself. Not sure why the stun grenades didn't work on him. He got a lot of exercise running away from the creatures that protected the Thorian who liked to get close and then spew some kind of toxic gas. Poor Tali and Garrus got brunt of their attacks and had to be revived constantly after getting too close to the creatures.

There was an Asari there as well who kept being regenerated and who kept trying to kill him. She died a number of times but after he killed the creature the real her was released. She told him why Saren wanted the Thorian and gave William the same info she had given Saren. Unfortunately this info came in the form of a "mind meld" that was supposed to give William a better understanding of the information from the Prothean beacon. Even with Liara's help after the mission, he could not make much more sense of what was going on.

He had a long talk with Liara after the mission. He thinks she is such a sweet girl but, despite there being a mutual attraction, she's not sure if now is the rime to act on it. He agreed to let her take her time but he's a little worried that he might have ruined his chance at romance with her. Hopefully not, since he believes she's worth the wait.

At least, he made enough credits to get the SPECTRE assault rifle. So he will take out his relationship frustrations by mowing things down. That always makes him feel better.

Its ready. I'm sure the Commander will like this meal. There she is. She looks ok. That must mean the mission went well. Good. I place her meal in front of her. Roast beef with yorkshire pudding and peas.

In between bites, she tells me they ran into a lot of husks. They found the item needed to get through the relay. She was disappointed that she wasn't able to study the reaper to see if there were any weakness that could be found that might help defeat them. She did bring a geth onboard. What? Are you crazy? Not too worry she says. It was sent to Cerberus for studying.

I get up to get her dessert and a drink to wash down her food. Here Commander. A Labatts Blue, and for dessert, a chocolate souffle with butterscotch sauce poured on top. That did it. She looked dumbfounded. She was impressed. For the second time, she suggested I should open my own restaurant for everyone to enjoy my cooking. Thanks Commander. I need to get back to work. I have some cleaning  to do.

What's going on? Why does the crew have weapons? What is that? No. No. Get away. NNOOOOOOO.

Cough. Cough. What the heck? I can't move? I'm.....I..in some kind of....casket or whatever? Get me out of here. I start banging on anything so someone can hear me. I see something moving out there. Som...Someone is trying to open my....whatever it is I'm in. AHHHH. Fresh air. Thank you. Of course. Its Commander Shepard. Thanks boss. She gives me a wink. Ok. The salarian escorts me and the rest of the crew back to the Normandy. At last. I'm back at my kitchen. Did you miss me kitchen? I need to prepare something extra special for the Commander when she returns.

There she is. What? That was unexpected. She came and hugged me. She even kissed me. Ok. I'm not sure how to respond to that. She was happy that I was ok. Would she do that if I wasn't the cook? I give her a glass of water and a slice of apple pie.

The collector base is destroyed. The collector threat has been dealt with. Thanks to you Commander. You truly are humanity's greatest hero. She tells me she's headed on a mission to checkout a rumor of a reaper invasion. Good luck Commander. I will be here in my kitchen cooking and cleaning.

I look over to see Commander Shepard talk with some guy in the medbay. He looks like he's with the Alliance. No idea what that's about. I would guess it has something to do with the mission she was on. She hands him a datapad. That must be her report about the mission. After a few moments, he leaves and Commander Shepard sits at one of the tables. I bring her a glass of water.

She told me she destroyed a relay that wiped out a batarian colony to delay the reaper invasion. At least delay it. Wow. So that's what it will take to stop them. She asked me if I feel better from what happen with the collectors. I told her I was fine.  I get up to clean my kitchen. It was the last time we spoke until after the reapers were destroyed.

This ends my time with the Commander on the Normandy. The woman I knew on the Normandy is very different to the woman I know now. Anyways. Its nearing 1000AM. People will be standing outside the door ready to come in and order an early lunch. I also see a couple of workers that need my attention for whatever reason. Back to work.

I've been feeling the bug again. Played a bit of my ME2 run last night, planning to get to at least the Collector ship tonight, or not depending on if I start Overlord or not. (god I wish I could just skip to the last mission, I find the hammerhead sections and first two bases to be interminable bores)

Grunt's okay...that scene still gets me because I always want him to come out of there. Headed back to Tuchanka to holla at Victus son. Fatima Shepard isn't full Paragon so that should be an interesting time. I always take Garrus with me.

How bananas defeated the reapers

Medusa Shepard - engineer/ war hero/engineer

committee: What's the plan?

me: Right now, the plan is to get some food in my tummy. I'm going over to MacDonalds to get a number one meal. You're welcome to join me

committe: Sounds good. Everyone. Take a lunch break. Will continue this in 2 hours

Anderson: What? What about the reapers?

committee: Stop crying Anderson. Would you want to die on an empty stomach? Lets go

later

committee: Much better. Do you have a plan?

me: Someone go help that kid

Anderson: What kid?

me: Exactly   Oh right, plan. Bananas

committee: What?

me: Take my word on it bananas is the key to stopping the reapers. I need to get my car. I mean my ship. Anderson. You stay here and pretend you're doing something.

me: Take us to these coordinates Joker.

Joker: That's in  Africa. What about the reapers?

me: Just get us there Joker. I'll worry about the reapers

Starsky: Commander Shepard. Its good to see you. Before you ask. Yes I have what you need. The other thing is I like to get everyone to safety. The reapers are close by.

me: No problem. How much do you have?

Starsky: I have about 1 000 0000 tons. How much will you need for yourself?

me: I will take 50 tons. There's plenty of space in the cargo area to put them. If not, ask a guy named Steve tell you where to put them. Where's Hutch?

Starsky: HEY LACY? GET A FORKLIFT AND PUT 50 TONS WORTH ON THE SHIP. Hutch is in the office.

me: Thanks.

Hutch: Hellp Shepard. You know all this work we did  will cost you?

me: Look at it this way. If this works, you and your brother and the rest of your company will be heroes.

Hutch: Yeah. I hope you're right. I have bills to pay you know. I see my brother Starsky is waving at you

me: What's up Starsky?

Starsky: You're loaded up. Here's crate filled with weapons that will help. That one that looks like a flame thrower is really a banana pudding thrower. I'm sure you can figure it out. About getting my employees to safety?

me: Here's coordinates that should be safe from the reapers. Take your ships and all the bananas you can load  to that spot. I will be in touch. Stay safe Starsky

Starsky: You too Shepard. When this is all over, you will buy the first round of drinks

me: Done.

Hackett: You need to go to Mars. One of your former squadmates, Liara T'soni, may of found somthing that might stop the reapers

me: I've already found somthing that will stop them.

Hackett: What? Go to Mars and see what she has found and then we'll discuss what you found.

me: Sure.

I'm now in the middle of the DLC. So many colors, so much snark ... so much feels of what-could-have-been ...

Although I still hate that Miranda isn't available from the beginning of the DLC.

Continuing from this, beware **CITADEL DLC SPOILERS BELOW** BTW, where the **** is the Citadel DLC discussion thread? I can't find it on these forums.

I finished the DLC last night. A heart pounding match up between two identical Vanguards was an exhilarating climax of that mini-story. I actually felt sorry for the clone and tried to save him. I didn't mind the ridiculousness of the mini-story here because it had a good premise and ended with a nice juxtaposition of Shepard's squad coming to help him up and the clone being abandoned by Brooks. I avenged him by gunning her down though.

As for the party, oh dear. Each second of this DLC made me sadder. And it wasn't because of the impending goodbyes. It was because of the colors, the vibrancy, the progression (From ME1 to 2 to 3) of imagining the Citadel and the inter-mingling (heh) of different species. It was because of the little mini games, the Shakespearean Elcor looking for work and the characters we never got to have with us in the 3rd game. Every second of this DLC makes me wonder what the 3rd game could have been. I have seldom seen such vivid squandering of potential.

Since I play on the PS3, some of my family have often times seen me play this series on the TV after I got the trilogy pack. And they actually got so immersed in it while watching me play the first game, that they watched the next two games as well. Each one had an opinion on characters, each one marveled at the imagining of a Galactic Society, each one had something to say about my preferred Love Interest. Each one had a favorite character. Each one remembered things from my first playthrough when I recently started my latest playthrough. And as we were watching the party play out, I couldn't help but wonder to myself about how life like these characters seem. Each one is based on some sort of archetype but they seem like real people. Every statement they made in this DLC seemed like something they would say. I often feel stupid when I find myself thinking about these characters and for taking them too seriously. But I accept this. The wistful (and dangerous) longing for the 'perfect' love that Miranda and Shepard have is similar to what a movie like 'Stardust' does. For a few moments at least, I am transported to a world far removed from our cynical and imperfect one. I think a thank you is in order; to Bioware and the artists who created these characters and the moments that make things like this DLC meaningful to me. In spite of the criticism I have directed at them because of the 3rd game, feelings that the DLC invokes would have been impossible without the foundations of the 1st and 2nd game.

That group pic at the end of the party is ...   :D  :wizard:  <3  :crying:  . Shepard and Miranda looking into each others' eyes. Is there a way I can export it from the PS3?

Also, I must commend the addition of the Combat Simulator. Such a thing alone would have made the SP worth playing more. Playing with Miranda and Samara and Jack and Grunt etc. I might have to endure more playthroughs of ME3 just to be able to get every class to play in the Combat Simulator.

A while back I was looking for a way to do screenshots with the PS3, but I think ME simply doesn't allow it (other games seem to work with PS button and START pressed together, or you can plug in your keyboard and hit the Print key). The only way would be a captured device to take videos, then extract screenshots from them (that's what I do now). But they're a bit pricey, so if it's only for screenshots it's probably not worth it.

Yeah, I'm not going to get a capture device for that. The way it is now, it gives me an incentive to fire up the game to play in the Armax Arsenal Arena ... or to replay the party all over again!

I didn't know about that PS+START thing. I will try it on other games. Thanks.

Finished quite a lot recently. Got Tali and finished the Rannoch arc. Trash-talked a Reaper destroyer then made peace between the Geth/Quarians. I also did the first part of the Citadel DLC today. Oh man, seeing Wrex charge at everything while being invincible never ever gets old. Whooped the hell out of my Shepard clone. As an Infiltrator, her having armor+shields is a big no-no!

Have I mentioned how better this playthrough has been since I got the Black Widow?!

Funnily enough, he got taken down by the shield bearers ... or was it Garrus? I forget. I also forgot that I had Pull on my Vanguard until the middle of the first part of the DLC.
