This was yesterday, but hey. I decided to count it.

- Got an offer from the Dalatross about the cure. Sounds like a good plan.
- A Reaper decided to take up residence next to the Shroud. Great! Maybe it'll do a little gardening.
- Made my way through some tunnels, and Eve mentioned Kalross. So I could get stomped on a Reaper or, alternatively, burned to death with acid. Either sounds really fine at this point.
- Neither happened.
- Padok Wiks was far too insistent on curing the genophage, so I shot him in the back.
- Eve's funeral was nice.
- Wrex believes I cured the genophage. Hopefully he'll keep believing that.
- Went to investigate a Prothean artifact that Cerberus is showing a lot of interest in.
- Prothean artifact is a Prothean. We'll add him to the menagerie.
- Apparently Udina is a crook. Time to head to the Citadel and take care of that dirty rat.
- Oh, Cerberus has control of the Citadel.
- Who is the freaking guy with the sword and ponytail? What an unnecessary weapon.
- Oops, Thane got stabbed.
- No way in hell I'm letting Kaidan shoot Udina, so I did it.
- Headed to meet with the Quarians.
- Boarded a Geth Dreadnought
- Legion is a signal booster. Great.
- Trying to leave, but the damned Quarians are shooting at me. I'm annoyed.
- Yell at the Quarians for shooting at me.
- Rannoch is next.

Got ambushed by the geth on Metgos. Negotiated peacefully with a mad biotic to turn himself in. Got that C-Sec Officer to back the hell off from that hanar, thus allowing him to preach the truth of the enkindlers in peace. Stopped some down in the dumps turian general from spreading rumours about Sha'ira. Got a cool Prothean necklace in return. Goes nice with me dogtags.

Scanned a whole lot of keepers. Turns out that opened up a whole can of worms with Chorban and Jahleed.

Emily Wong!!!

Helped Samesh Bhatia, and a woman called Rita.

Turns out there is a homicidal AI hiding behind the Emporium. Helped the good Dr. Michel with a few problems (#doctorsindanger).

To finish his long day off, Matt Shepard, Liara Croft and Garrus Vakarian dealt with a hostage situation onboard the MSV Ontario. More mad biotic terrorists.

Now to go find a missing survey team on Trebin. But first some well earned R&R at Flux. All in all a solid first day of being a Spectre.

Whew. Everyone survived the trip through the Omega-4 relay and William got all of the crew back. It was too bad about those colonists from Horizon though. William had the Geth, Legion, who he had learned a lot more about when he helped Legion overwrite the Geth 'heretics' who had sided with Saren, hack into the Collector systems to get the group through the first part of the Collector base. Miranda led the 2nd team because William was a little weirded out by the fact that Miranda's idea of a good time was to get it on in the engine room. It was certainly fun and a good stress reliever but .... the engine room?

After sending Kasumi back with the rescued crew, William had Samara create a biotic bubble for him and Miranda and Thane (maybe, it all seems to blend together in his memory) while Garrus led the 2nd team this time. For the final push, William took Miranda and Garrus with him. And while he was completely horrified at what he found, he decided that TIM had a point that information from the base could be used to help the upcoming fight against the Reapers. Because William was convinced that there would be an upcoming fight against the Reapers. And soon.

Of course, once he got back to the Normandy, literally everyone thought saving the base was a bad idea. Not that anyone mentioned it at the time.

William then decided to finish some of the Cerberus stuff that he hadn't gotten around to earlier. He destroyed a Blue Suns base that was using a distress beacon to lure freighters to their doom. And picked up some data for a guy on Omega. Still a bit put off by the whole engine room thing, he broke up with Miranda. It had nothing to do with his decision to help Liara find the Shadow Broker..... Nothing at all. What Liara doesn't know....

What's good about this playthrough is that this character was setup from ME1 to get the lowest ems possible. I did that back in Sept getting my ems to 927. This time, with the same character in a new game plus, I got enough ems to get the breath scene. That's cool.

Here is the video of an Eden Prime playthrough I've recorded earlier. The longest mission I had played, due to having no ammo for the Avenger and having to rely on squadmates and melee.

Spoiler

Things should go much smoother from this moment, got my Particle Rifle that has no ammo problem and much better accuracy than the Avenger :)

In the home stretch for ME2 now with some more Loyalty missions, IFF and other random missions then it's SM.

Sigh.  I have to admit I'm kinda worried about moving to ME3.  As I mentioned before, I played it through once and I enjoyed it (including the ending.)  But, after experiencing the ending on my own, I went on the old Bioware forums years ago and saw everyone's complaints - which ended up coloring my view of it in a negative way.  Extended Cut helped a bit I guess.  Honestly, I really just wanted the game to end in the Citadel before you meet "you know who."  I fully expected Sheperd to die in a heroic death, defeating the Reapers.  Anyway, I'm a little worried I won't be able to enjoy ME3 as much this time.  I think it has some cool parts but I'm resisting it for some reason.  I'm sure part of it is because "it's the end."

Can anyone else identify with what I'm saying?  If so, any pointers on how to enjoy ME3 more?

Quit the game after Anderson dies. Or get the mod that pretty much does the same thing. The Catalyst will always be awful. I understand you picking Synthesis. It's clearly written to be the "good" ending. However, I find it to be the most offensive to the core themes of the series, which I call "Strength through Diversity" and "Self-Determination." Control isn't much better and you just told TIM it was a bad idea, but at least it didn't come out of left field. Destroy presents the least amount of problems.

Seems like "Destroy" was always where the series was going.  I guess I'll try that one this time.  I though the Synthesis thing came out of left field.  I mean, yeah Mass Effect had always had Technology at the forefront (Geth, EDI, Legion) - but combining them with organic life never made sense to me.  Anyway, I think I'll enjoy it more this time.  Yeah, if the game stopped after Anderson died I would have been super happy.

I understand how you are feeling. This first time around I choose Control and it did not feel right to me. Then you find BSN and realize holy crap there are a lot of negative things being said about the ending. I went through the game again and decided to try destroy and it honestly felt better to me. I have gone through ME3 now 2 times since then and I really like it. I understand the complaints but at the end of the day just focus on the fun you had playing the game to get there.

- The Legion unit tells lies.

- Fighting Primes is less fun than fighting through a classy antique shop

- Especially when a Reaper is hiding there

- I just took down a big-ass Reaper

- And now Legion wants to upload Reaper code to the Geth. That can't turn out well.

- The Legion unit is no longer functioning, and the Quarians defeat the Geth.

- The Asari councilor wants to see me.

- First stop is to see Miranda.

- The Catalyst might be on Thessia? I'm on my way.

- Crap, Wrex figured it out.

- Sure, Bailey, we'll go with the story about a crazed Krogan and a gambling debt.

- Sorry Wrex. Wish it hadn't ended like that.

Legion says in ME2 that they 'trust' one another among the Geth and that they do not 'deceive or lie' or something along those lines. This lying business was just part of his pinocchionization. And for drama, I guess.

He's all over the place.

Now that I've done bother the Paragon and Renegade path in this, the Renegade response makes a lot more sense. Otherwise it's just, "I trust you." Why would Shepard trust Legion at that point? I don't know what they should have done differently either, but it's worth being concerned about.

Today I tried to convince my husband to buy Mass Effect 3 again on PC. He's still butthurt.

I told him about the MEHEM mod, and he demanded to watch it, and then he would decide. He said the hurt all came back to him. *eyeroll* Though, he admitted the mod was much, much better.

He continued to play Starcraft II. I said, so.....what do you think....and he said no.

So today I tried to access my personnel files on the Alliance Military Database and some IT weenie screwed the pooch again. I swear to the maker if I find out who keeps deleting my data I am going to end them.

So after entering my information for what seems like the hundredth time I decided to just go ahead and write it here so I can just copy and paste next time.

Name: John Michael Shepard

I don't know why they keep asking for my first name, everyone just calls me Shepard anyway.

Date of Birth: April 11, 2154

Place of Birth: Sol System, Earth Montreal, Canada

Branch of Service: Systems Alliance Marine

Rank: Commander

Classification: N7

Primary Specialization: Soldier

Secondary Specialization: Field Medic

Current Command Assignment: Executive Officer, SSV Normandy SR-1, Pre-Commissioning

By the time I finally got set up in the system I didn't even have time to look at my last pay stub before I got called to the helm to observe the Normandy's first Mass Relay jump. I'm not even sure why the Captain wanted me up there, Moreau and Alenko had everything under control. The brass didn't pull any punches manning the Normandy, there's not a single crew member who wasn't top of their class, well except for maybe Jenkins.

After the jump the Captain called me back to the Comm Room. A couple brief chats with Pressley, the Doc, and Jenkins later I was finally briefed on the Normandy's real mission, to pick up a Prothean Beacon that had been unearthed on the Eden Prime colony. As if that wasn't surprising enough I was also being considered as a candidate for the Spectres. Apparently the turian Spectre Nihlus was onboard to both oversee the transport of the beacon but also to observe me and make a final recommendation to the Council.

Before we could get too much into it we were interrupted by an emergency transmission about an attack on Eden Prime. I mobilized Alenko and Jenkins and started to get geared up to go groundside.

Relaxed at Flux with the squad. Matt Shepard was exhausted, so hung back at the bar with Kaidan, Liara and Tali. Mezcal for all. Liara and Tali didn't know what they were missing. Garrus and Wrex meanwhile were getting a bit too competitive with Quasar.

Shore leave antics  :D

Went to explore an excavation site to find a missing survey team with Liara and Tali. Turns out they were all huskified.

Decided to lend aide to the friendly Rear Admiral Kahoku. Shepard, Liara and Garrus had their first run in with a Thresher Maw, and learned the sad fate of Kahoku's marines.

Now some woman called Helena Blake is asking for help.

(trying to do most of the UNC's before Noveria  mixed with regular shore leave antics at Flux)

Garrett Shepard slowly becomes more and more Prothean. Wielding a Particle Rifle and using Dark Channel - a power even Asari did not hear about - he overpowered Reaper forces on Menae.

Spoiler

His abilities only grew with time and after a brief stop at Sanctum to recover Reaper artifacts from a Cerberus Lab, Garrett attacked Cerberus forces at Grissom Academy.

That, or shotguns. Would trump Thane's pew pew pistol in that situation.

Isn't it the same as on other difficulties?

My first playthrough was the only non-Insanity playthrough. I honestly have no idea if the Reaper fight on Rannoch is actually easier on non-Insanity difficulties. The game mechanics should be the same. Isn't the Reaper beam a one-hit kill regardless of difficulty? Or are you referring to something else?

In Insanity, the Beam goes faster on the last time you need to lock-in.

I don't know which is worse. Thane doing something ridiculous like not shooting Leng in the head when he had the chance or Kirrahe in his inviso-shield just standing there doing nothing till he gets shot. Takes the bullet for the councillor, sure, but still could have taken a shot or put Leng off balance or something.

Why bring characters back when you don't know quite what to do with them?

Started Mordin's recruitment mission with Jane Shepard (Adept). Only got as far as talking to the sick Batarian before I quit.

I edited a video of me completing Freedom's Progress with the Adept and added a voice-over as part of an Insanity Adept video guide I wanted to put together, but I am still not completely sure I ever want to post it. I still hate the sound of my own voice, I am still terrible at commentary with lots of heavy breathing, word filler (I say 'um' and 'uh' a lot) and nothing really all that useful at all. Other people have done it much better than I ever will.

Still have not decided whether to post the non-commentary version of the playthrough to YouTube either. It is not treading any new ground so I don't feel it adds anything of value.
