After an initial scare, all turned out well for William while helping Liara find the Shadow Broker. Apparently Liara is, in fact, a good information broker and knew about Miranda. But after chasing another rogue SPECTRE all over Illium (and finally killing her), they used the info she tried to steal to locate the Shadow Broker's base. After fighting through his minions, William and Liara had to kill the Shadow Broker himself (or was it itself, the SB was a Yahg - William wasn't too sure what genders Yahg had). Afterwards, they shared a kiss and later a romantic rendezvous on the Normandy (in the Captain's cabin like normal people) and all was forgiven. The only problem was that Liara took over as the Shadow Broker so she couldn't come back to the Normandy.

Before trying to rescue Admiral Hackett's friend, William decided to visit the site of the Normandy's crash. It was very somber but he was glad that he got a chance to pay his respects to the dead and to his old ship. He buried a few ghosts while he was there and left feeling much improved.

Which lasted until he got to Batarian space to 'rescue' Dr. Kenson and found put that she had been indoctrinated by the unshielded Reaper artifact she left out in the open in the middle of her base on the asteroid that she had originally planned on flying into the system's Mass Effect relay. And that the Reapers themselves would be arriving very soon. And that part was after they had to fight their way out of the Batarian prison she was being held in. With time running out, William had no choice but to implement the original plan even though it meant that all the Batarians in the system would be killed. He tried to warn them but he was barely able to get out ahead of the destruction in time himself.

Not surprisingly, the Batarian's reacted badly to the loss of more than 300K civilians so to placate them, William was put under house arrest. Until the Reaper's arrived on Earth and turned a nice peaceful day into a nightmare (not the least of which was that his face seemed to undergo some kind of transformation - maybe it was all that hot food and soft beds). Now he's supposed to go to the Citadel and recruit ships from as many other navies as he can sweet talk into helping Earth. After a quick stop on Mars to pick up something Liara had been working on for Admiral Hackett. And see Liara....

Well that went from bad to worse in a real hurry.

I was a little concerned about bringing Jenkins along on the mission, it was the kids home world after all. I don't think his head was quite in the game as instead of running for cover he hesitated and was gunned down by a couple attack drones. Alenko and I dispatched the drones and checked on Leeroy (or was it Richard?) Jenkins only to find that he had got himself perished.

Let me go on record now as saying that these standard issue Alliance weapons and armor leave a LOT to be desired. I may as well have left my assault and sniper rifles on the Normandy as you can barely hit the broad side of a Mako with them, they are that bad.

Anyway, we fought our way through some more drones and got our first look at the geth. That was, uh unexpected. We also met up with Gunnery Chief Williams of the 212 who was separated from the rest of her squad. She led us to the research camp where we encountered some dead colonists who had been converted to shock troops by placing them on some cybernetic spikes. Apparently finding geth on Eden Prime wasn't bad enough now we're starring in a B-movie called Zombies in Space.

At the research camp we found some scientists, one who was able to give us some useful intel on the beacon, the other was just a blabbering idiot, I helped "put him down for a nap."

Apparently they had moved the beacon down to the space dock so we headed there, killing a few more geth and zombified conlonists along the way. We also encountered another group of colonists who were holed up in an equipment shed. Turns out they were some sort of Farmers by Day, Smugglers by Night outfit. After some persuasion (at gunpoint) they turned over some information as well as a pretty nice pistol that immediately found it's way on my hip in place of that PoS from the Normandy's armory.

At the dock we were surprised to find Nihlus dead. We met another dockworker/smuggler who informed us that Nihlus was killed by another Turian named Saren. This is starting to get ridiculous. After a little more "persuasion" the guy coughed up a nice upgrade to my grenades and let us know the beacon was transported to the space port.

On a side note I think I may have pulled a muscle drawing my gun on these locals, but the look on their faces made it totally worth it. That was pretty much the only bright spot of the day, well that and the sound of armor piercing ammo blowing big holes in geth is pretty satisfying as well.

We left a trail of dead geth between us and the space port only to find they had rigged the place to blow with enough ordinance to take out the entire colony. I disarmed the bombs because I'm a war hero with a Star of Terra and that's what I do.

So let's summarize, Jenkins is dead, geth on Eden Prime, dead colonist space zombies, Nihlus is dead, killer Turian named Saren, oh and I haven't even gotten around to the big ass mother ship that brought them all here. We've recovered the beacon so there's that, but I'm not sure how this day could get any worse.

"Williams! What are you doing to that beacon?!"

That, or shotguns. Would trump Thane's pew pew pistol in that situation.

That was SUCH an irritating moment! Glad i wasn't the only one not unbothered by it.

I'm about to help Tali retake the dreadnought. It's a short mission but one of my favs...except the geth mines but otherwise yes...Fatima catches up a bit with lil sis, Tali. Probably take Kaidan or Garrus. Haven't decided yet.

I LOVE the geth dreadnought mission! One of my faves from ME3.

Great atmosphere, combat sequences, and story. Plus getting to catch up with Tali, after suuuch a long absense in ME3, elevated the mission from good to excellent for me!

I always bring Kaidan, because he's my Male Shepard's LI (always) and he and Tali have a cute little scene before where they nerd out on omni-tools!  Makes me imagine some of their unseen interactions in ME1, both being techheads, where they just compared omni-tools and methods for dispatching geth with tech powers. Same with Garrus too!

Just finished recruiting Mordin as Jane Shepard (Adept). As much as I like the Adept, I keep forgetting how bad some of the Adept's powers are at low levels. Rank 1 throw for example is nearly useless to me at the moment; I keep thinking I can send guys flying off the map, only to have them barely move at all, even if I pulled them first.

As per usual, I had a bit of trouble on the mission since not having the two unique Medi-gel upgrades yet (Trauma Module and Emergency Shielding) kind of sucks. Plus Jacob's Pull bugged out once, leaving a Pyro still standing in front of me while I was low on health and still on cooldown. Ugh.

- Thessia is burning

- Found the Temple

- Well, a Prothean "goddess" leading the Asari certainly explains their technological advances

- That pony-tailed little ****** showed up and stole my data

- I fell down

- Got up, chased the ponytail and lost him

- I really hate that guy

- Thessia's lost

- The Asari Councilor said something about the continuity of civilization, whatever that means

- Anderson told me about a friend of his who didn't get away from Grissom Academy in time. She's not the only casualty, old friend.

- Traynor tracked the ponytail's signal

- Time to head to Sanctuary

Marina Shepard

***

--Told Kaidan and Joker to act like Soilders

--Jenkins thinks I'm a monster ( I mean I did kill a lot of people on Torfin but that doesn't count right?)

--Distress Signal comes in. YAY! we get to go shooting

--Eden Prime, Punched a scientist and threatened to shot some colonist. 1 gave me a gun and the other the military supplies he was stealing. We made it to the platform and disarmed the bombs. Kaidan got to close to the beacon, Marina threw him out of the way and got some strange images implanted in her head.

--On the Normandy had a meeting with Anderson. He wants us to give all this information to the council...Why the hell when they don't even like us? Whatever if that is the order she has to follow she will.

--Talked to Kaidan and Williams

***

On The Citadel

***

The council meeting did not go well they still believe Saren but who did not see this coming? Golden Child vs Random Human

Spoke to Harkin and located Garrus

Killed Fist

Found Tali the Quarian with the evidence I need

presented new evidence to council. What they listened? Evidence is irrefutable? really they are not going to claim tampered with recording or something at all?

Got my specter status and headed back to the Normandy

Wrex Joined the team (to be honest almost forgot about him)

Got a ton of ME2 in last night. Continuing my premier renegade Femshep, Svetlana. I finished off Jacob's loyalty mission, my last remaining one then took off to get the IFF. Encountered a curious geth that got disabled. No time to play doctor with it, TiM's got cyberneticists that can handle this. Took a spin in the shuttle with the entire squad and boy that was bad timing! Collectors came and took the crew, good thing Joker was on point with Edi. We launched through Omega-IV and soon took our first casualty. A powerful plasma beam cut through the hull and killed Jack instantaneously. It's a shame as she was starting to grow and heal, but this is war.

We decided to split the team up and sent Thane through the duct system. Thane fell from Harbinger's wrath as both teams met up, damn I knew this was going to be no cakewalk. We found the crew and I detailed Tali to escort them back to the ship, hopefully she can help get things running there quicker. Then we had to get through a massive seeker swarm. I had Miranda project a biotic shield that held to the end, but Grunt, seeking glory and battle gambled too much and was carried away by the swarm, dismembered before my eyes. A bad way to go.

Made our way to the sanctum sanctorum and on TiM's advice set up a energy cascade in their reactors that would produce a lethal but non destructive burst of radiation so Cerberus could claim the base. We need everything we can get for the coming Reaper invasion, and the secrets here could give us an edge.

Miracles of miracles, we suffered no more casualties, I was almost certain the defense team would take losses, but Garrus rallied the team and held the line. TiM was very pleased with the results, and in the ruthless calculus of war I had to agree. The loss of three team members for defeating the Collectors and capturing their entire tech base was a bargain. We set course for Illium for repairs and a much deserved shore leave. Kelly and I spend some quality time together in celebration on our way.

En-route, TiM shares some new intel on the Shadow Broker and I head up to Liara to share it. After signing off half the crew for a week's leave I proceeded to Liara's apartment to find her missing and an Asari Spectre running the show. She gives a backhand comment on my lack of Spectre status. I find a clue, leading us to the Drakon towers in time to see it bombed. Soon enough, Vasir's involvement is confirmed and we give chase, leading us to the bordello-resort Azure. After a gripping fight, Vasir is defeated and we proceed to take out the Broker himself. He turns out to be a monsterous Yahg. After his smoking body is dropped into the maelstrom outside, Liara and I shared a kiss in reunion. No need to tell her about my dalliances with Kelly, I'm not so sure her and Feron didn't share anything. After drinks and embracing eternity, Liara had to leave to take on her role as the new Broker. We'll stay in touch babe. The crew gets back from shore leave in time for TiM to drop a message about yet another Cerberus facility going dark, this one investigating the Geth menace. I order joker to set course and invite Kelly up for some fun time. I'm sure Liara won't mind.

(Very surprised that Mordin didn't die holding the line, I only had Garrus there as a defender with Grunt dead and Zaeed joining me for the reaper fight)

Finished off ME2 last night with LOTSB, Overlord (left David hooked up, along with that Geth unit we gave to TiM we should see some positive results on the anti-Geth front) then staved off the Arrival without giving a useless warning to the Batarians.

For reasons I surrender to the Alliance. Sitting under house arrest in Vancouver, oh hey James whats up? Reapers you say? Fight or die I say. On to Mars. Shut up Ash, I'm sick of your paranoia. Who invited you on board anyway? Hey Tim. Just get with the program, we're a great team. We gotta blow these bastards up, control is bait! I'll make you see the light, we both want the same goddam thing!

Oh Ash, that sucks. You aren't my favorite person but I didn't want to see your skull caved in. Finally met the new council, meet the new boss same as the old boss. Well actually I like the new Turian Councillor much more, at least he isn't trying to get me to lose my temper. Ah it's getting late time for Shepard to turn in.

Cerberus is making William regret ever helping them (and especially giving them the Collector base to study). First, they tried to kill or capture Liara on Mars, which is never a way to get on his good side. And then a Cerberus robot disguised as a scientist nearly killed Kaidan. Oh well, at least EDI was getting good use of its body (and Joker seems happier than he has in years). And then they tried to kidnap a bunch of biotic kids at a place called Grissom Academy. But they evidently underestimated how much Jack, aka Subject Zero, hated them. William was surprised to find her a teacher at Grissom but not surprised at all that she very ably protected her students until William was able to come up with a way to get everybody off the station. And the slap for giving Cerberus the Collector base was probably warranted.

In between Mars and Grissom, William had tried to convince the Council to help humanity. The Council was not officially convinced. However the Turian counselor did suggest that if the Normandy could pick up the Turian Primarch, William could work on convincing him directly. And the other heads of state who were trying to get together for a conference. After the usual complications, the Normandy left Turian space with both the Primarch and Garrus. However, to get Turian support for Earth, William needed to convince the Krogan to help the Turians. Yeah. That ought to be easy....

And since they were in the neighborhood after rescuing the Grissom Academy students, William decided to go in search of some Prothean artifact on Eden Prime that turned out to be an actual Prothean. And William got the added benefit of being able to kill a bunch of Cerberus troops as well. And he provided the resistance on Eden Prime enough info that they were able to kill even more. Liara was beside herself with enthusiasm until she actually started talking to Javik. He, and his whole civilization, were really not what she had been expecting. But he seemed ready and willing to fight and that was what William needed most.

Now... try to convince the Krogan to aid the Turians or go back to the Citadel.

Replayed the Kai Lame "boss battle" on Thessia. Had forgotten how incredibly bad it is. Battle starts, my Adept Shepard hits him with Energy Drain, Liara hits him with Warp, Shep launches a Shockwave and empties an entire Hurricane clip in his general direction. "I NEED TO RECHARGE!" Get the f**k over here and let me finish you...

Finally finished all remaining UNC's pre-Noveria, including Bring Down The Sky (hey Balak!!!) and Rogue VI (hey EDI!!!).

Went back to the Citadel for some quasar before I head to Noveria to find Matriarch Benezia.

Garrus beat Shepard at quasar, so he had to go buy the next round. Tali got a tad tipsy on Mezcal. Kaidan, Liara and Wrex got a bit too biotic-y in Flux, so they got kicked out. They continued their test of biotic supremacy en route to the Normandy, and ran into Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani. Not the best of times of interviews with the first human Spectre and his team.

Next mission: Steal back Khalisah's incriminating footage of drunk Shepard and squad. Tali will go for the optics.

Last night I puttered around on the Normandy for a bit with Jane Shepard (Adept) before heading out and playing three Firewalker missions to get the Biotic Damage upgrade, then went to the Normandy crash site for a little more XP. Now when I complete the next mission, I can jump two levels instead of just one and max out Biotic Mastery. Then I went to recruit Archangel, but stopped just short of starting the actual combat portion since it was late and I was tired.

Today I started the combat portion and just finished beating down the Eclipse mercs. Like usual, I had some trouble on this mission since I tend to get a little too aggressive and put myself in some bad spots, plus not having the SMG shield bypass upgrade yet can be a little frustrating.

Plus I somehow managed to kill the LOKI mechs too quickly and got surprised by Eclipse mercs when I ran down the stairs into the base. Twice.

Actually now that I think about it, I cannot remember if I actually picked up the SMG Damage upgrade. Oh crap.
