Today I helped a woman murder her daughter. Then we convinced a Krogan to commit suicide by merc, instead of shooting the mercs. Heading to Tuchanka to check out some tortured infertile females, with a Salarian who made them that way and kill a mother Thresher Maw for no reason.

Last night Emma went to Tchunkah.. Tuchunca? Tuchanka?? Tuchanka!

Spoiler

  • Yet again, I am reminded as to how short these levels can be. This is pretty much two brief conversations interspersed with a bit of arena fighting
  • However, what it does do is really flesh out some of the krogan lore, and it is all very interesting and world building (what with all the side characters you can chat to it's a bit like ME1 all over again). This time I paid attention, particularly to (Wrex's, note) Shaman and what he says about Krogan culture and how endlessly destroying their civilisation makes them stronger - to the point no-one will oppose them. This is interesting as a lot of what people use as a justification for curing the Genophage - Wrex is somehow 'different' - i don't believe to be true. How he is different - through a clever use of controlling the females to build up his powerbase for example - doesn't mean that he doesn't share the same Krogan values of war and conquest. In fact his means of acquiring power are to basically do that - unite the clans under his rule to be powerful again.. but to what end? that is never answered - it is mentioned about giving his people a future, but a future base don what? His Shaman espouses the same Krogan rituals of conquest that they have always done. In my mind this further underlines that curing the genophage is a bad idea (well, the version where it just limits the birth rate rather than the 'sterility plague' it got turned into). Your mileage may vary
  • The Thresher Maw lasted 1 minute and ten seconds
  • I like the ritual of the keystone, it makes what could be a boring mob defence actually have some interest and meaning
  • Likewise the offer from Uvenk for Grunt to be a tool for his use - also is well done as it shows how the Krogan see him to an extent
  • Of course I had to head-butt the Shaman, Paragon or no
  • Food for thought - do male Shaman's endure the same process as the female Shaman's?
  • Also surely Wrex would have a more impressive Throne room that a bit of blasted underpass? It doesn't do much to show his power - if we could have seen a comparison to the other Clans we meet it would underline his relative power compared to the others. It could have shown how his methods were working, rather than relying on us being told

- rescued some Cerberus scientists

- went to TIM's home. he wasn't there

- its you and me ponytail

- so the catalyst is the Citadel. Hmmm. So why did Vigil, the vi before it and Javik call it the Citadel? Did the group, who were building the crucible during the Prothean cycle, give the Citadel a codename? When I defeat the reapers, I will go back to Cronos to ask Vendetta that question

- I give Traynor a hug. Don't worry I'll be back

- Earth. My home. I'm going to need a big fire extinguisher to put out some of those fires

- I enter Buckingham Palace to have tea and crumpets with the Queen. Nice lady. She invites me to come back after I deal with the reapers. I will

- Ok. All those who want to die running to the beam, raise your hands. Wow. All of them.

- That was a dumb thing to do. Call for the Normandy when Harbinger is right there.

- Harbinger didn't fire at my ship. That's hilarious. Makes me wonder why the other reapers fired at the ships when we were approaching Earth

- I'm on the Citadel

- Anderson. You and TIM talk about whatever. I'm taking the magic carpet up to where the microphone hooked up

- I see a panel with three buttons

Blue - push this button if you like everyone to keep looking over their shoulder wondering when/if the reapers will start firing their beam of doom

Green - to get a good laugh by having everyone look like the side of a circuit board

red - destroy reapers. No description needed.

- too easy. I push the red button.

Update: Took down all objectives on Tuchanka.

Giving my sentinel heavy reave and teaming up with Samara has turned me into a killing machine with no suitable opponents, anywhere, worth fighting. To make it worse I'm rolling with Miranda as well. Shields last no mire than a few seconds and armour? Less than a second I'm so OP I'm thinking about switching to insanity.

This morning:

Saved some DB named Aresh and pistol whipped another named Archer, I should have shot him. Heading toward the IFF once my son is ready and dropped off.

James, Ash and I touched down on Mars to investigate this weapon Hackett mentioned. As we approached the facility, something was wrong. Cerberus was here, killing people. We got rid of them and entered the compound. Ash is still hung up on me working with Cerberus.

We met Liara inside. It was great seeing her again, and the news she brought sounded too good to be true. She actually found plans for a device to deal with the Reapers. That's huge. We couldn't talk long though as Cerberus was on us. I sent James back to the shuttle and Liara, Ash and I dealt with the intruders. We made our way through to the archives, killing more Cerberus goons and at some point discovering they look like husks... Sh*t, what's going on?

When we arrived in the archives, the Illusive Man chimed in and it was clear he will not use the Collector base I left for him to kill the Reapers. F*ck him. Why did I trust him with this thing again? I thought he knew what was at stake. Now... he wants to find a way to control the Reapers? Oh come on... you can't be serious. The Reapers have to go, one way or another.

Liara discovered in shock that during our talk, someone stole the data, and we soon saw who... Someone Liara knew from her time here, Dr. Eva Coré. We started chasing her but I just couldn't catch up. I tried to reach James, thankfully he had heard me. Just as this woman reached a shuttle to escape us for good, James rammed that damn thing. Nice one, even if it almost hit us in the process too.

All of us were okay, but Coré emerged from the shuttle wreckage, still alive. She's a synthetic! And she got to Ash, damn it! She banged Ash against the shuttle a couple times, then she tried to come after me. I shot her and we carried her and Ash to the now arriving Normandy. Immediately we set course to the Citadel to get Ash to a hospital.

On the Citadel I met Bailey, now promoted, and he told me I can still visit Ash before the Council meeting. I met Dr. Chakwas and Dr. Michel there, what a pleasant surprise. I asked about Ash's condition and Chakwas joined the Normandy crew again. Good to have her back.

Ash looked bad, really bad. Please pull through. We still didn't have the chance to properly talk and catch up. Fight, Ash.

Then it was time to see the Council. Liara presented the data we got, showed them the plans for the weapon in order to gain their support. Well guess what. They weren't willing to help...

Udina and I went to his office disappointed, when the turian Councillor came in. He had a proposal. I was to rescue their Primarch on Palaven, in return we could get turian support. Deal. I caught up with Bailey, met that Kalisah reporter again, talked with James and then allowed a woman called Diana Allers on the ship. She's a war reporter and wanted to join the Normandy. Alright, then let's try this.

Picture time ;)

I haven't played ME since yesterday, but I did buy a ps4 yesterday. Learning all the things that it can do. I was playing a bit of the Uncharted collection and decided to take a screenshot. I know this isn't related to ME, but I wanted to see how well it works.

Not exactly today, but I finished all remaining loyalty missions, Reaper IFF, Suicide Mission and Arrival. Which means the end of ME2. Also learned it the hard way that if you accidentally click "Custom Appearance" at the very beginning and then go back to imported look, your character is given a face code of custom look  <_< I'll probably replay, because it's bothering me.

On a bright side, I was trying to get 100 War Assets from Mineral Resources and somehow was able to achieve it. We'll see if I can get it again on my next ME2 try.

To me its the hardest 100 war assets to get even though its just collecting x number of minerals

I only got the 100 war assets once. That was gathering all the minerals in ME1 and having over 100 000 of each mineral in ME2. I repeated it a second time and didn't get the 100 war assets. I ended up with 25.

I have tried several different ways to get the 100 war assets by following what others have done with no luck. To me its bugged.

As far as I know, no one from BioWare has mentioned anything about it.

This is my second time getting 100 War Assets.

Comparing runs where I actually completed ME1 minerals collection, the difference between those with 25 and 100 is that I got all Rich and Good planets at least to Moderate. Also both 100 had over 100k Eezo and the rest was well over 400k, after getting all or almost all upgrades (I think I was missing 3 upgrades in that first run).

I'll make sure to report if I get 100 again.

I imported the save where I got ninja'manced by Liara into ME2. I kill off Kaidan if I'm not romancing him so it's going to be weird having him and Liara on the same squad in ME3.

Looking forward to seeing the banter they may have.

I got legion killed.

Killed a baby reaper.

Killed TIMs plans for the collector base.

Woke up on earth next to a scarred up Latino and then a black guy showed up. No, this isn't as sexy as it sounds. The Reapers were invading.

Then we headed to Mars to pick up an Asari who is almost as sexy as she sounds.

Ashley is almost dead so there's no point going to the hospital to see her. I shall wander around the ship doing nothing for a bit instead.

Turian Primarch is up next and then. We return to eden prime.

Tonight Emma did something that stretched the bounds of narrative plausibility.

Spoiler

  • This is the first time I have played this mission since becoming a father and it got to me in a completely different way. The suffering of the children - seeing their rooms, hearing the tales of what they went through, seeing the (torture?) chair - it got to me I have to admit. Previously I would breeze past it and focus more on Jack's story. This time the environmental storytelling - and really focussing in on what went on really upset me. For example the simple difference between the size of jack's room and the cells the kids were in
  • However, this is the main problem with this mission - we are basically shown a really twisted Nazi-esque science experiment - almost cartoonishly horrific - undertaken under the badge of Cerberus (we can debate whether TIM knew - my guess, as summed up by the missionary summary screen where it mentions resending another clean up crew - he did. And this is what ****'s me off - Shep never once brings this up. Never once questions why she is working for this organisation. Never once has the chance to even turn her back on them - playing as a Paragon this strikes me as farcical. I know the writers have a love-in for Cerberus, but this mission really shows the ridiculous premise of working for them (especially in the light of ME1). The only character who even mentions it subsequently is Vasir (also known as the best, and most wasted, NPC character of ME2)
  • First playthrough as Paragon resolution and I quite like it - makes Jack's turn as a teacher slightly more believable in ME3. As a bonus, you don't have the ridiculous 'a bullet in the head' dialogue
  • Although the renegade resolution to the fight between Miranda and Jack is better - "Stay a deck apart!"
  • Miranda is supposed to be intelligent. Her continued faith in Cerberus despite all the evidence to the contrary is bonkers
  • The encounters with the Blood Pack feel really shoe-horned in and out of place (quick! they'll get bored - put in an encounter!). Mission would probably have been better without them, letting the environment tell the story more of what actually happened -  increase the horror value
  • I normally take Miranda on this mission, and Tali's lack of venom against what Cerberus has been doing, considering her history with them, is disappointing
  • I really like the sequence of shots of Shep and Jack in the shuttle
  • The fact that Jack's character pretty much shuts down for a femshep after this is disappointing. It feels unresolved

I think I've always got the 100 assets for minerals, but that could be because I'm a compulsive scanner in ME2. I do try to limit myself to only rich planets however, especially after Horizon, and planets where a probe found something. I usually end up with 400-500K of everything except eezo (I think once I had over 1M of the three ) and over 100K of eezo. I think the 100K of each is what you need to get the full asset amount. I had no idea ME1 factored in at all, but since I usually collect all the minerals there too  it's never been an issue.

Talked to everyone on board and got to know a few new faces. Punched the crap outta Vega and returned all my ships to their case. I chased a hamster around for ten minutes below deck before I realised I'd forgotten where the shadow broker ship is, again. Thinking about it I remembered Allers existed and found out it wasn't in her room either. Tired of all this bullshit I headed for the C.I.C. I'm on my way to Menae.

I only go to the planets with missions on them these days. I use the save editor to give me the minerals I need.

I find that ME3 made scanning worse though. It ME2 at least it had a point but in ME3 there is one thing on the planet and you are led directly to it.

There's about 1100 war assets to collect by scanning planets in ME3. That's a lot and doesn't take that much time. Before starting Cronos, I see what my ems is, and then scan enough planets to raise my ems to what I want it to be.

Finished it. I played ME1 and 2, but skipped 3 after all the controversy. So about two months ago I was stuck for something to play and remembered I never played 3. So I got the ME123 bundle with all DLC and started over from one, and played all 3 games in one go, importing my save each time. Finished a few hours ago. Man, up until the last 30 min, what an unbelievable and spectacular achievement of video game production.

But why make us scan for it? It's the only thing on the planet and we are directed to it. It's pointless when they could have just used the ME1 system and given the assets straight to us.

I'm doing one more run with everyone dead after this one. Then my final. I'm pretty melancholy about it actually.

Went to Brysons office met with Aria secured Blood Pack. Its good Friday so will resume tomorrow.

Happy Easter all.
