So after about 2 1/2 weeks of being put on the backburner, I picked up Jane Shepard (Adept) where I left her on Horizon in ME2.
I got about partway through Horizon when I realized my capture device (HD PVR) failed. So I reset my computer and HD PVR and tried again. It failed again.
Shepard visited Feros with Kaidan and Liara to investigate why the Geth have an interest in the colony. Shepard did some chores for Zhu's Hope by making sure they're properly fed and watered. He even got to meet the local celebrity of Fai Dan . The Geth are looking for something called a Thorian and all the colonists are now acting weird after this revelation. Jeong went a bit loopy and wants to purge the colony. Shepard couldn't persuade him and he brought up Shepard's past of Akuze. Shepard didn't like this so he shot him. The Thorian is starting to adversely affect the colonists (they're even shouting "enemies everywhere" which is never a good sign ) and Shepard thought it would be best to reduce casualties by using the nerve gas. In the end, Shepard saved 16 colonists but not their celebrity leader. The Thorian is a massive plant what eats rotten Asaris. Shepard dislodged the Thorian and this was enough to kill it. Shiala was helpful in giving new insight on Sovereign, indoctrination and the cipher. She gave the cipher which will help Shepard to think like a Prothean. Shepard needed to decide what to do with Shiala, either kill her or let her stay with the colony. Shepard didn't entirely trust Shiala but she offered to give the cipher so she was given a chance to help the colonists rebuild.
Liara wasn't to be outdone by another Asari so she wanted to join with Shepard's consciousness as well. Shepard allowed her to do this but she said she couldn't offer any more assistance because he only has one part of the crucial information. Shepard reported his findings to the Council and didn't disconnect this time because it's best to stay polite by smiling through grated teeth. Checked in on Liara on the Normandy and she decided to pry into the Commander's personal life. Shepard told her it was private. Liara was undeterred and thought there was a mutual attraction between them . She was told bluntly that there wasn't any attraction whatsoever. Spoke with Ashley who was listening to some audio about how cute Shepard is. He told her it was unprofessional conduct and left.
Shepard needed to get away from all this drama on the Normandy and went to recover a data module. This module was stolen by a monkey. Shepard ended up running over a monkey by accident when he was trying to parallel park next to the mine entrance . Tali wasn't impressed: "That was a little extreme wasn't it?". Shepard retrieved the module and was sniped by a Geth on the way out. The reload was right at the beginning of the map (some things never change and some people never learn )

Not today, but over past few days, I replayed ME2 again with my canon Shepard. That wrong face code bothered me too much to leave it as it was. This time I made sure to not touch CC. Fortunately everything went fine and I can safely import her into ME3.
One of my favourite things about ME2 is that even paragon Shep knows that fist is sometimes better than words.
Spoiler
I wish there was more paragon interrupts like that. Well... overall... more interrupts like that. Because not every Shepard is as patient as my canon
What is putting me off Rise of the Tomb Raider is 'crafting'. There isn't a single game with it in where it doesn't annoy the living hell out of me.
It honestly begins to feel like work when you have to scout around for pieces to craft from.
I couldn't agree more, Fallout 4 is a great example of absurd crafting mechanics. No more crafting in games devs, it's immersion breaking and just pads out good/decent 20 hour games into 60 hours of tedium.
It's actually fairly inoffensive in TR, and is integrated fairly well. It never feels like busywork as you generally encounter stuff en-route, without it becoming overly tedious. Plus hunting animals can be quite good fun.
I really hate crafting too, but I didn't find it bad in this.
Took another attempt at Horizon with Jane Shepard (Adept). This time my capture device worked and I completed the mission, and Jane got to hug her old boyfriend Kaidan before he got all angry at her for ignoring him for two years and then working for Cerberus.
I did not play too badly and actually had some decent moments, although my previous failed captures meant I missed showing some other decent stuff (like why I think the Missile Launcher is a good heavy weapon for the Adept).

Tortured Anne Bryson just enough to keep her as a war asset and get the info I needed without having to work for it.
Finally shot Mordin putting it off for days, now its done. Man I love this characters story arc. Detailed, thought out, well written and factoring in your choices; 10/10 stuff.
About to take on synthesised Cerberus on synthesised citadel (still haven't found a replacement cable.)
Reporting back after I shoot The second human Spectre and get drunk in purgatory till I wake up in the elevator.

In my most recent playthrough I let Mordin die in the suicide mission because I'd never had Padok in the game. And then I'd planned on Renegade persuading him to sabotage the genophage, but picked the wrong dialogue option and shot him. Just Padok was rough. Still can't imagine Mordin.
One of my cables is busted so everything red yellow brown etc is now the colour green. Earth looks like its been synthesised. So do Shepards scars. After suffering the analogue version of a hd game with colour i switched back to synthesis ME3 and have come to the conclusion I may actually enjoy this. The Rachni clone is dead Grunt lives and I have a synthesised Omega to take back from synthesised Cerberus. Looking forward to synthesised agitants.

Oh no! I can sure sympathize. I played DAI for months with green sparkles everywhere. I thought for sure I had a bad GPU or power supply or something, since the problem didn't start until I replaced my old ones. Turns out, one of the cables attached to my monitor had come loose. I totally blamed the cat for it.

Everyone dies in my next run except legion (dead this run) Miranda thane Kasumi zaeed. Still trying to figure it out, but killing Padok should be easier. Shooting Wrex on the citadel will be a problem.

On my way to visit Ash I saw Thane and we talked a bit. His sickness is catching up with him and it doesn't look too good. Sorry. Hope his final days or weeks or however long he has are not too painful. I checked in with Dr. Michel and then went inside Ash's room. Udina was just leaving and I took a good look at Ash. She still looks bad and bruised, but I'm so glad she's awake. I had bought her a Tennyson collection, she seemed to like it. Of course it came to the inevitable... what about 'us'? I feel bad I never treated what we had as serious as she did, and then I met Jack, so... I told her we should see it as a fresh start for both of us.
We caught up a bit and then I was on my way to see Aria and a salarian Spectre, Jondum Bau. He had gotten a tip about an indoctrinated hanar on the Citadel from none other than Kasumi, who he had tried to catch for some time now. Bau left and Kasumi revealed herself, real good to see her. She cloaked and we accessed several terminals to track down this indoctrinated hanar. On my way I also bumped into Kelly! Was a surprise to see her and we hugged, and she revealed a bit of her Collector abduction. The stuff of nightmares... I'm glad we got her out in time. She also told me she quit Cerberus, but I convinced her to change her identity as I don't think Cerberus would just let her go like that. Who knows what these a*sholes are up to.
We then finally found the hanar and dealt with it. In the process, Kasumi helped us stopping a virus upload, then she faked being killed by a minor explosion to escape Bau's grasp. Nicely done, Kasumi. I talked her into helping with the Crucible and returned to the Normandy.
It was time to meet with the diplomats, so the salarian dalatrass, Wrex, Victus and I had a little talk. Didn't go so well. In order to help the turians, Wrex wants a cure for the genophage... f*ck. That can't be good. But my hands are tied, and we learned about some female krogan held prisoners on Sur'Kesh. Someone had tipped off Wrex about them. So our plan was to get the females out of there and create a cure. Easy, right?
Liara, EDI and I landed on Sur'Kesh, accompanied by Wrex. He doesn't trust me anymore, he knows I destroyed the cure Maelon had created. Well, crap.
Met another old acquaintance, Kirrahe from Virmire. We talked a bit and then we took the elevator down to retrieve the females. Turned out it was no other than Mordin who told Wrex about the females, or rather... female. There was only one left after the others had died. Just in that moment an alarm went off and Wrex told me Cerberus had arrived. What the hell do they want here? We have to protect the female at all costs, and Mordin went with her to monitor the pod she was in while Liara, EDI and I got ready to deal with Cerberus.
Picture time!
Spoiler
Meeting Thane.
No happy end for Ashley
Hey there, Kasumi!
Comforting Kelly.
Love that dude's face.
The meeting.
Whoopsie
That burn Oh, this will be great.
Major Kirrahe!
I love this guy, just look at his face! D'aww
Mordin, good to see you again!
I finally, finally was able to get James's dialogue about how Virmire was nuked
Also, it's the first time I met Kelly in ME3, and likely the last for some time as well

Earth...again. This is the part that I head canon...the moment Fatima lost her mind. Blind rage, if you will. London looks a hot mess but it's war...Fatima wonders what Houston, TX looks like(her hometown)...or if it is even there anymore.
Had to get groundside to shut down a Hades cannon...fought through a wave of Marauders and Husks and Cannibals and Brutes. It's okay though...James is with Fatima and spec'd as a tank...brought Javik too...figured he'd want a couple of shots in as well. Fatima finds that Cain 920 lookalike thing and shoots the cannon...she shoots and she scores. But now they have to hold off MORE enemies until a rescue shuttle arrives. Spammed the heck out of Flare just cause...ran to a shuttle to be greeted by some Major Coats fella...I'm thinking he was the guy in one of the promotional commercials sniping out of Big Ben(he mentions something about it). And Captain Anderson! Fatima tries to hide emotions but she shakes his hand eagerly before he can finish his sentence. She's relieved he's still alive.
They setup shop in one of the buildings to plan the assault...which is more or less run to that beam and don't die. Fatima is game. She connects with all of her squad one last time to make sure their on point...they all seem good...she never actually tells them but she is proud of them...especially Jack. Pep talk with the crew before heading out with Kaidan and Liara in tow(because biotic booms son!) for the final push. It's on.
Fatima and the crew hit everything that wasn't with them. EVERYTHING. This was the blind rage but she didn't care...neither did Liara and Kaidan...they knew what needed to be done. So when they found themselves overwhelmed by reaper forces guarding a mobile missle silo, they used every bit of energy they had. Fatima told them to hide in the building...she ran outside and hid behind a phone booth. There was a Destroyer attacking with its laser...but it didn't discriminate...lot of roasted Reapers and Fatima's insane laughter was the mood. After some time, EDI was able to target the Destroyer and boom goes the dynamite! But that was close...
This is where things get weird...and likely why i hated the end of ME3...so rather than transfer that energy, I will sum it up: Fatima had to run like hell to the beam because Harbinger showed up...Crew was airlifted because Harbinger is apparently polite enough to let that happen...blew Fatima off the ground but the Normandy is cool. She woke up...dead all around her...felt like she should be dead too. A flippin Marauder shot her as she headed into the beam...she was barely able to lift her arm to finish it off. Star trek beam me up Scottie!
Yadda yadda yadda...she shot the Illusive Man...not that struggle scene that you usually see...a Renegade interrupt and that was that. Anderson died...Fatima couldn't figure out why she hadn't yet...collapsed hearing Admiral Hacket say that the Citadel arms didn't open.
Yadda yadda starchild brat nonsense...but the only thing Fatima heard was "it is now within your power to Destroy us". And so she did because that was always her goal...to get rid of them...for good.
Ouchie. The only time I didn't cure the genophage was my sole non-import game where Wreav was in charge. Bakara died. I think that was the worst part.
Never shot Wrex (in 3 or 1) and never shot Mordin. I might be able to shoot Wiks if I could ever be ok with Mordin dying in 2.
Last playthrough I already shot Mordin, and Bakara died too. So damn sad, but it was a well done emotional scene.
Now it's probably even worse... I didn't know that apparently you can only convince Mordin to work on the Crucible if you betray Wreav. Which means I have to shoot Mordin again, and Wrex later too I'm gonna need some tissues
Just let Mordin be carried away by Seeker swarms... an unfortunate fate... no one could've seen it coming
started an ME2 run randomly...Tsombe` Shepard at the helm. Adept class. Ashley and Wrex are alive. Saved the council. She was full on Paragon but i'm role-playing her being very upset that she was brought back to life. She's just a tad...moody now.
We've already been to Freedom's Progress and will be headed to Alchera next. I always make every Shepard I play with do that mission first because I feel like that will be on their mind above all else. Got a lot of recruiting and shooting to do. Let's get to it.
